1. My favirotes are: Yu-Gi-Oh: I prefer the manga over the anime in this series. What I love best is Dark Yugi's personality and how he punishes others for being cruel. I love how he is drawn in the manga. Pretear: I love the manga for this as I feel it has a little more humor in it than the anime has. Though I like both of them. Eerie Queerie: This one is great too. The story of a boy being possesed by ghosts is just too funny and the awkward situations that result because of being possesed. I would love to see this one made into an anime. :animesmil I'm sure there are other great manga's out there, but I don't own very many.
 2.
DN Angel is indeed a good read. However, for those who have not watched the Anime, don't watch the anime. I heard that it is unlike the manga in lots of ways (plotwise and actual concept I think). It will ruin the manga. A lot of people I know have complained about it. Keep reading.. No watching.. Unless you're still curious, I couldn't care either way. :p
I actually watched the anime first so it didn't ruin it for me. I enjoy it when the anime and manga have differences as it makes reading the manga or watching the anime more interesting. Take Pretear for example, the manga and the actual show have a good number of differences. I hate it when the two match exactly, seems like a waste of money to own anime and manga when the story is an exact match.
 3. I don't know about other game systems, but I definately can't wait for the new Zelda game to come out. Everything I've seen online at Nintendo's site just looks totally awesome. I loved the previous Zelda games. After the Cell shaded format of Wind Waker I'm looking foward to Zelda being back in the original format. Plus the changes in the trailer, like fighting on horseback with your sword and the different monsters, overall it just looks like alot of fun. Then there is the next Final Fantasy game for Playstation 2. Though I've only seen a little of the graphics, previous Final Fantasy games have been fun to play. With all the different aspects that the previous games have had like guardian forces and most recently the sphere grid which allowed your character to go through many different fighting modes *like gunner, white wizard and so on* I'm really looking foward to what different aspects the new game will have.
 4.
Just out of curiosity, how many of the people that have posted, or will post, own and pay for their own cell phone without any kind of parental assitance? I'm just wondering. I'm 18. My parents haven't bought or payed for anything of mine in the last few years. I've been working since I was 15, and have never owned a cellphone. *GASP!!!1!11!* Not only am I unable to afford a cellphone, much less the ringtones, I don't want one. What is the appeal of being connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? If I'm sitting there in my room at midnight tryig to fall asleep, I would be downright pissed if someone tried to call me. Sure you can turn it off, but how many of you honestly do for fear of missing a call! I like my solitude. I don't want it to be inturrupted by some moronic sound or an idiot trying to get the latest information on a friends break-up in the middle of a bloody campground or park. Go out and enjoy nature. Leave the technology at home.
Well I pay for my own cellphone, like Panda I am an adult and haven't lived at home for a long time. I pay for my house and everything. ^_^ Though I resisted getting a cellphone for years as I didn't really need it. When I switched career's four months back and became a truck driver It became more necessary at that point. It's really handy for work being connected. I like my sleep though and it gets turned off when I go to sleep, I figure if someone really wants to talk to me they will leave a message for me.
My phone was free. As long as you don't get anything stupid like a camera-phone (no offense to anyone who owns one), Cingular will give you a basic cellphone for free. My grandparents pay the bill, but that's because we're in a family share plan. Also, my phone is used for emergencies more than anything. I don't like people calling you to gossip in the middle of the night, either. That's why no one but my family calls me on my phone. When people need to know where I am, they want me to get something from the store, I'm driving to my dad's house 2 hours away and they're worried about whether I'm okay, I need directions, or I need to call AAA when my car breaks down (it's a 16 year old car), then that's what I have my phone for. If you look at my page of the phone bill, it consists of nothing but calls to family members and occasionally a friend or two (my friends aren't very gossipy). It's either I leave the technology at home, or I find a pay phone or one of those highway Call Boxes.
I wish I could have gotten a free phone, but since I drive a SemiTruck I paid for a phone so I could get bluetooth wireless technology. That way my headset is completely wire free, something I felt was completely necessary if I intend to use a phone when driving a SemiTruck. ^_^ Ironically it did include a camera. As for using highway call boxes, well alot of states don't have any call boxes :animesigh Now for the orginal topic, well I have Enjoy the Silence and People are People by Depeche Mode and part of the theme from Tales of Syphonia for my ringers. As for the most annoying, well ironically I would have to say ringer that sound more like an alarm clock. I hate those ones.
 5. Well, where I live people have the mistaken notion that if you like anime you are into porn. And although I am sure there are people like that who enjoy anime, me and most of my friends are not like that. It gets kind of annoying when you are at a bookstore and people avoid you like the plague for buying anime or manga. As for fitting a sterotype well both me and my best friend are more average than the people around here think. My best friend who loves Detective Conan, Fruits Basket & D.N.Angel is actually a business major, married, and has two girls. She has to find time to even watch anime. Then there's me, I'm a Computer tech and service person who switched jobs to Trucking *cause I've lost my job to outsourcing 3 times in the past 5 years* I have plenty of friends, and definatly have a life. Like my friend I too have to find time to watch anime as I am very busy. It really annoys me when others assume I have no life and that I'm slime because I enjoy anime and manga. :animeangr I try my best to be open minded and insist they actually watch some anime before they judge people. Two of them were open minded enough that they actually did watch some and surprise surprise! They found that anime is not what they orginally thought. :animesmil
 6.
Don't ever make the mistake of letting something said/done by a total jackass modify your thinking. It doesn't really help you achieve anything. General civility is something to be held sacred, and it's usually greeted with some sort of "thank you", even if it's just a nod or a smile. Because everybody has it in them to be generally civil. Some people ignore this ability, though, and, consequentially, have no real friends, or chance of gaining any.
Exactly what I think. In the long run being polite is always a good thing. I always go by the thinking of treating others how I would prefer to be treated. I prefer to be treated politely so I always try to make sure I treat others that way.
 7. Personally I prefer full names for my pets instead of short ones. My last Dog was Mariska and the dog I have now is Aaryanna. I also have a cat named Alexander. Usually what I do before getting a pet is find three or four names I really like and then once I get the pet I see which one fits them the best. Before I got Aaryanna I had decided on either Kendra, Celestia, or Aaryanna. Once I got her Aaryanna just seemed to fit. :animesmil My brother did the same with the cat. Though since he loves to chew on everything I added a middle name of Lucifer since he always has an evil look in his eyes. :animesigh
 8. I have Sailor Moon uncut in Japanese and if you are going to watch it, that's the only way to go as the English version is majorly edited. As for magical soldier type anime only being for girls, I disagree. Although it may have been primarly targeted to a girl audience plenty of guys I know like the series as well. Sailor Moon is cute, funny and does have a touch of romance. If possiable see if your friend could loan you their copy to watch, that way you can see if you like it before you buy it.
 9.
Diablo II is probably the coolest MMORPG I know of. I don't know how long the single player takes, but my friend and I played online alot over last summer. That game is really fun and has a giant fanbase. If you have any friends, kind of make sure you play in their party, or you might be heckled and called a newb. -the one and only
Diablo II is a good one for single player mode as there are three levels, normal, nightmare and then Hell. You have to beat each prior level to get to the next. I'm about half-way through on Hell and I've proably put in around 60+ hours to get there.
 10.
Hmm, a lot of people have said what I wanted to say. I agree with Ken and Chabichou - a small group of people does not always represent the majority. I also agree with Ken that it is sad that our coutnry can't invest money into finding alternative fule for the day when *gasp* there won't be any fossil fuel left!!!!! But that'll never happen because as anyone who lives in America knows, our government is f*ed up beaurocracy at it's best; and oil companies have a large stake in our government. Like the way cigarettes will never be illegal because they have a large steak in our government as well. Pisses me off. I already knew that nations other than the US are paying $6.00 per gallon. Like Gavin said, it's pretty simple. American consumers are the biggest market for oil, so we buy a lot. You buy in bulk, it's always cheaper. Just another note to point out, a lot of nations in Europe (like England, France, Spain), Japan, and I don't know about Australia, but I'll assume (someone can always correct me) actually have working mass transit systems. You can take a train or a bus from a bus or train stop, and actually go somewhere!!! I'm still trying to grasp the concept, and am wondering if it works as well as I think it does, since I'm unfamiliar with mass transit that works. In America, if you don't live in a city, the only way you're getting around is by CAR. The mass transit system to NYC is laughable (actually, NYC has the longest commute time followed by Chicago). I mean, even in the city, some commutes take 40-50 minutes because of the subway or bus systems. The closest train station to me, in NJ, is about two hours away, and I recently found out there's one bus that runs through our town (and I don't even know where it goes). Now that's sad. So we waste more gas, because cars are the [strike]best[/strike] only way to get around, and of course, because we have a larger nation, and more people in it. A dur. :/
I wish it wasn't true but large companies have always dictated how things are done here in America. It would be nice to be free of our dependance of cars but the automobile Industry made sure mass transit systems were dismantled long before most of us were even born. I was reading a book "Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal" by Eric Schlosser. I was surprised when I read this: "In the late 1920's, General Motors secretely began to purchase trolley systems throughout the United States.....more than one hundred trolley systems in all -were purchased by GM and then completely dismantled, their tracks ripped up, their overhead wires torn down. The trolley companies were turned into bus lines, and the new buses were manufactured by GM........In 1947, GM and a number of its allies in the scheme were indited on federal antitrust charges......The executives who had secretely plotted and carried out the destruction of America's light rail network were fined...." In short our own automobile industry made sure we are dependant on cars and therefore dependant upon gasoline. Many cities are trying to bring light rail back, to ease our dependance upon gasoline, but now it's so expensive it isn't happening anytime soon.
 11.
People really want to believe that murderous people are deterred by the death sentence that other people have received, but it's just not the case.
I agree with elfpirate on this one. Knowing that the Death penality is a possibility hasn't stopped people from committing crimes. If it really worked, then the crimes for which the Death penality can be applied would no longer be committed, and that just isn't true. There are those criminals who simply aren't detered by anything and in that case, if proven guilty, in my opinion they have earned the death penality.
 12.
I love Kratos from Tales of Symphonia. I can't really explain why though... :animeswea
I can agree with that, Kratos is a great character to play too. I like him almost as much as I like Lloyd and Zelos. It's like he has the more serious side Lloyd and Zelos lack.
 13.
Self-explanatory title. I really like standardized tests. As a person who has had 15+ years of education, I know all about the "circumstantial A's" people are so used to getting. However, on standardized tests, there's no favoritism or bias that can be used to anyone's advantage. You don't have, "well, they tried really hard" or "he got an A in all his other classes" to save your butt in standardized tests. You know what you know, or are as competent as you are. It's hard to argue with results. For instance, the SATs are almost a true representation of your college success. Most of the time, those who do phenomenol on the SATs do phenomenol in college, and those that do bad, do bad in college. Of course there are exceptions, what with things like "circumstantial A's" as mentioned above. In addition, it really reflects what education your school is giving you. You aren't just competing with students in your school, but throughout the entire country. It's neat to see how good you are compared to everyone else. There's nothing different in the test for someone taking it in Florida versus someone on the other side of the country in Washington. Your true knowledge or competence are all that separate you. Just my opinion. ^^
I guess it would depend upon who writes up the tests and what standard is used. For example, when I lived in Texas I went to one of the top five school districts in the US. I then moved to Utah which wasn't even close to being among the top. The difference in the tests was laughable. The ones prepared in Utah were a joke. For example, in Texas it was fill in the blank, you either knew the information or you didn't. In Utah it was multiple choice which meant you could randomly choose and have a 25% chance of getting it right since most questions had four choices. So a student could get an A and still not actually know the answers on the test. If a good standard was used for the tests then Standardized Tests would be a good way to measure a person's academic abilitiy. But if the tests themselves were poorly written then what would be the point? As Corey pointed out alot of schools are lowering their standards to meet the no child left behind act, so they are bound to do it to the tests as well.
 14. That's good to know, I didn't realize that the issue had already been addressed. And thanks for the tip about refreshing, I hadn't tried that one yet. :animesmil
 15.
Certain banner ads on myOtaku have become an extreme annoyance lately. Namely, the ads that ask you to "swat the fly", or "shoot the paparazzi". Some ads similar to these are not as bothersome, mostly because they do not make any kind of noise at all.
I agree, espically the shoot the paparazzi as that ad seems to be there almost every time I open the site. :animesigh I have no problem with ads in general but I definately would like to see the ones that make noise be banned from being on myOtaku. As DDG said trying to get rid of it doesn't work. The only way to get around it is to leave the site and come back, and pray you get an ad that isn't beyond annoying.
 16. Well I don't have a problem with who I am now. So I have no desire to change my past. Although I had a crazy childhood and my teen years weren't so great either I wouldn't change the past just to avoid the problems I faced. If you are wondering what I mean, then read the thread I posted 'Is suicide really selfish?' I mean even if I had different parents there is no guarentee that I wouldn't have found myself in the same type of abusive situation once again. So since things worked out and I'm happy with how I am now, I wouldn't change my past. Espically since I have the desire to change myself and have continued to do so. :animesmil If I changed the past I might lose what I have gained and it's just not worth it to me.
 17. Okay, the e-mail says this information is available at the department of energy, so how do we verify that this information is correct? I personally have no problem with who I buy my gas from but I would hate to find out later that it really was imported. Truthfully I hardly buy any gas as I am a truck driver and the company I work for pays for the diesel fuel. I have no choice over where it's bought from as they schedule when and where I fill up. As for my own car, well, since I mostly drive a semi I proably only put gas in my car about once a month.
 18.
Azurewolf was mad at Dirt for being rude and calling Rider's post stupid, and then continued to critque elfpirate's entire post with quite rude comments *confused* anyway, I don't really think sexism is needed, or it helps to advance our society in any kind of way, I just don't like judgement, sexual or not, I don't believe its right to judge a person on anything other then the person themselves, man or women, its easy to designate between the two (hopefully), what really matters is what they think, their POV, and thinking of someone as less of as person just because they're the opposite sex of yourself, is just stupid
I agree that sexism isn't needed to help advance our society, yet at the same time I can see why ForgottenRaider asked Is there a problem with limited sexism? In anime or the world. Although this is a bit of a tangent, most christian societies that I am familiar with teach you as a child that adversity and challanges are how we grow and improve ourselves. I may not agree with it, but I know alot of us grew up being taught that we were suspose to have adversity and challanges. So I can definately see why one would think a certain amount of sexism or other form of discrimination is normal. I wish that weren't that case though as I find sexism very annoying. :animesigh
 19.
Final DOOM 3 goes on the Xbox, people has been complaining to me because it's on the Pc, but now it's gonna be on a console in a few days what do you feel about DOOM 3?, did you play only this one on the Pc, or just waiten for the Xbox one,did you play the other DOOM games back then, does DOOM 3 scare you I wanna know everything!DOOM 3!!!
I love Doom, however I've always played it on a PC. If the game comes out on a PC I always get the PC version instead of the console version. I mean game consoles are nice but they just can't compete with a computer. Take Tomb Raider for Playstation. Great game, but the graphics on the computer are way better. :animesmil That's great that it's coming out on Xbox, the requirements to play Doom on the computer are a bit high so an older computer would have problems playing it. As for being scared. Well, although it's dark it didn't creep me out, but my brother quit playing it as it was a tad to gross for his tastes. LOL
 20. I've never had a sudden loss myself, however when my brother was run off the road by a drunk driver and put into a coma as a result, I remember all too well how shocking that event was. I mean I had just talked to him the day before and he was fine. Then to go to the hospital and see him like that was just to unbelievable. It was so bizzare, everything got turned upside down and life no longer seemed real anymore. The hardest part was that three and a half months later he died from complications due to an infection. And during that time he never came out of the coma. I'll never forget the day my parents got the call about his accident. So I guess in a way it was sudden since we never once thought he would end up dying like that. You hear about such stuff all the time, but untill it happens to you it just doesn't seem real. I'm sorry that happened to you. Hang in there and take care.
 21.
I have to admit that I've pulled all nighters before, although not on my PC, my Gamecube however is another story, as are my Star Wars and Star Trek collections. The only times I've pulled an all nighter with my Gamecube was when I first got the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, I played it for about 16 hours straight from around 8 PM to about noon the following day.
I did the same thing when I got The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, I didn't plan on it but I got so caught up in the game that when I looked at the clock again it was almost 5am. I had started playing around 7pm so I felt kind of stupid. I've had a few all nighters on the computer, but since I live alone my dog has never complained about it. :animesmil I have arthritis, so usually my all nighters are a result of a flare up which keeps me from sleeping.
 22. What drives me batty is when I respond to a post and when I get done and press submit, I find that I've been logged off. The first few times I lost the post I had just so carefully done. It's really annoying if it's a long well thought out answer. Now I just make sure I copy and paste into a word document first so I don't have to re-think out my answer when that happens. As for my computer crashing, well truthfully that rarely happens since I switched from windows 98 to XP professional. In fact I think it happened once and it was due to a new program I installed. Once I removed it, it hasn't happened again *yet* :animeswea As for the brain freeze, that happens to many times for me to count! :animecry: It's espically annoying when you have a general idea of what you want to say, but you just can't seem to think of how to start the response. I've spent way too much time sitting there stuck on the first sentance.
 23.
Now I don't want this to blow up into a heated arguement but I feel I need to get this off my chest...Technically...they way you put it the bible, Korhan, and Tora, can be stated as the same as the necronomicon. Aside from the fact that we know who thought up the necronomicon. All are different interpritations of the supposed book called the Old testement. I having fallen out of the ranks of christianity tend to think these religious books are also...well fabricated. I can only guess as to why someone would do it...respect form others or power over others...humans are pretty power hungry.
Well you wont get any argument from me over that particular statement. Ironically I just finished reading a book called: "An Insider's View Of Mormon Origins, by Grant H. Palmer" As he says on the back of the book: He finds that much of what we take for granted as literal history has been tailored over the years--slightly modified, added to, one aspect emphasized over another--to the point that the original narratives have been nearly lost. Basically in his book he points out how historical documents show that The Book of Mormon, which was supposedly translated by Joseph Smith who, was the prophet of the church at that time, was in fact fabricated. It's defiantly an interesting book to read. I've heard before about how the validness of such documents like the Bible, Korhan, and Tora, are in question by some. Now I have to get a copy of the necronomicon as this thread has got my curiosity going about it. :animesmil
 24.
Also, what is so great about Lloyd and Zelos? Zelos, especially. I mean, the guy's just a jerk toward Lloyd and Genis (not that I particularly care about Lloyd), and his attitude toward the females is... I really don't know how to put it in words. Man, did I enjoy
kicking the crap out of him
. Oh, and as for Lloyd, I just can't stand characters like him. Seriously, what is up with the whole 'upset because your worst enemy just died' thing? Then there's the fact that he has no clue about the real world. He's just so damn naive. Now, I do have a favorite swordsman: Caim from Drakengard. You just can't touch the guy. He doesn't shed tears for dead enemies, but just keeps on killing. And this guy can kick some serious ***. Oh, there's also the fact that his motive has nothing to do with the goodness of his heart. He's out for revenge. And the whole mute thing combines with the rest to make him into a total bad-***. He's just awesome.
That's exactly why Lloyd's such a good character. Most games like to make the swordsman into a dark character who does nothing but kill. I personally think his character is a refreshing change on the typical character. Sure a character may kick some serious *** as you put it but sometimes that type of character just gets repetitive. *mind you this is only based on the games I have seen* Lloyd's being naive is what makes him so charming. :animesmil As for Zelos, he's a great character as well. Most of his behavior just hides how much he actually cares about other people. *again, just my opinion so don't take it personally* :animeswea
 25.
Hey, Chabi-- what makes you so certain that lethal injection is painless? I mean, the person injected gets a vein full of poison that goes straight to their heart. I'm assuming it's not like being pumped full of morphine or something. I, for one--agree with Chabi to a point in that I believe in the death penalty, but that it is handled ever so wrongly. But it is not the method in itself that I find inadequate. The system should not be the ones taking a murderer's life... the loved ones of the victims should be able to do it ..and in whatever way seems fit to them. Then again, my perspective is a little bit biased and jaded. I personally, would like to inflict pain and death upon whomever it was that killed the people that I cared about and loved... with my own two hands. In no other way would I be satisfied-- not even if I watched the execution (performed by the state) first hand. (Yes, I realise that I sound creepy--and I really don't care)
I hadn't really thought about it, but I kind of agree with elfpirate that the loved ones of the victim should not only be able to do it, but in whatever way seems fit. I know that for myself personally, I would love to take the drunk driver that ran my brother off the road and do the same to him. See how he likes rolling several times and landing upside down in a river. grrrrr! So I wouldn't say you sound creepy, in fact I can see why you might feel that strongly.
