I am torn between 3 sigs this week, and I have to say they all have qualities that relate to the topic and make everyone's sig vote-worthy, but the three I can't draw my eyes from are by jigglyness, Lrb and SaiyanPrincessX. jigglyness - I have to say that your banner catches my attention for all the reasons already listed. Excellent work; LrB - what a quote. Its so true and really makes you think. No imagery is necessary. Somewhat opposite of what jigglyness has done. Good job; SaiyanPrincessX - overall a good piece of design work. You might see something like this as a banner for a website. The colours are catching, and I like the text. The silhouette behind the text was a great idea; There are lots of other things about those 3 sigs that make me want to vote for all three, but that's cheating :P For simple personal aesthetic reasons, SaiyanPrincessX gets my vote. Again excellent work by everyone.

Everything was done from scratch [aside from font, cheated there]. I figured I'd try to get the ghosts right by eye, so they're a little off. Also, traditionally the ghosts don't have the black outlines. Font was Arcadepix

Only just got my hands on it so I'm absolutely thrashing their music...yes I'm cruel to music. Currently Thrashing: Marina Gasolina - Bonde Do Role They're a Brazilian band, real happy sound. Good to just have fun and party to, cannot get enough of it. If you're Australian you might recall a certain Bonds ad on TV in which this song featured, while a whole lot of girls danced around in their knickers. I'm sure it's on youtube. ...you're sick. You just looked it up didn't you?
but the fact is, the bright light that shone on her face caused her eyes to look like that, so because of the lighting it will remain as is.
First off I'll ask if you did the vector portraits in Illustrator; if you do there is one way i know of that you can edit colours of individual blocks of colour. That is to go to Object>Flatten Transparency, and slide the Raster/Vector Balance in the top right corner to 'vectors', or type in 100 in the number box. This should separate all the colour blocks for individual editing. Alternatively if you have Photoshop you can play with the brightness/contrast after selecting her eye, but I'm sure you'd thought of that and decided it didn't look as good that way. All that aside, you have some amazing work right here. My fave is probably the first tshirt design, with the 'Eve' representation. I really cannot wait to see more of your work.

By all means if you guys want to take the idea a step further and flesh it out, be my guests. I'm stepping down like I mentioned a post ago. I have a lot of learning to do if I'm to get anything across properly so I'll busy myself doing that before I make any attempts at starting an RP. -

Ouch Raiha that all cut deep. Real deep. And it hasn't even been 24 hours and I already have 12 posts to read an reply to. Personal best, go me :P [insignificant unknown poster scores!] This wasn't really aimed as a complaint, rather a silly idea for an RP. I just wanted to gauge the reaction to an idea of a blunt exaggeration of some of the games I've read over the past year. Sorry if I offended I really didn't mean to ^^; And I think Allamorph kinda hit the nail on the head. Oh, and this thread was my attempt at making my own RPG, Shy... And...I actually haven't applied for ANY RP's for over an age, and if I have I've forgotten... Anyway yeah it's not really a complaint but just a fun idea I was throwing out there. I think it's fun anyway. Anyway I'll go back into hiding now. This caused too much trouble than it was worth. Sorry for wasting your time :animestun EDIT: Wow I just read my opening post in a context that maybe some of you were looking at it in, and yeah I sound like a prig. Forget I ever mentioned any of this. And I always spell magick as magick...unless someone starting a game spells it a different way. I just go with what's being lead as my current example. [Current example is FFXII...so sorry for sounding 'self-righteous'] Over-reaction much? -

Please don't think that all Christians are this way.
Not all, but as usual there are a few that are. This was released about an hour after the official statement of dear Heath's death. Kudos to my buddy for keeping up to date on the whole evangelists situation: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/19627377.html Yeah. They did. And we will all hate them for eternity for doing it. Not all religious people, just the nutcases that released the statement. *sighs* H.L will be dearly missed. He was one of the Aussie greats, and he did many good things in the time he was with us. Thank you Heath. May you rest in Peace, and may those dear to you rest well knowing you do so. -Sat

So I was reading through a few of the current and past RP's, and well while some of them are top quality reads [in between playing Harvest Moon - I'm that hardcore - and working two jobs, the only RP time I get here is the reading time], others are becoming more and more lacklustre, and some of the more common roleplayers surface with each large-scale RPG that is run. Not to point the finger or make out that there's a problem here, but it's almost like I've seen the same group of players in all the big ones every time a big one hits :animedepr [Yes, you put the effort in. Kudos to you] Anyway moving on more to the point. So while I was reading some of the 'not so successful' RPs I noticed a common element; the characters were ridiculously underage, with overly mature ideas and situations being played out. The characters being suggested or put forward have mature personalities and outlooks. Not that there's a problem with this, but I've noticed that when you play a role of a 17 year old with a 29 year old personality, the age gap within the character clashes, and you can't really get into it. Feel free to correct my wrongness here if you can do so without flamage :) So here's my basic off the cuff idea: Let's do a play on failure, let's aim to tackle world politics with 10 year olds pulling the strings; let's take over the planet with toddlers; let's play the role of religious leader with a pre-schooler. Not only will we be ridiculously young, but we will have the brains and thought processes of 30 year olds, and the financial capacities of world leaders. We will be trained in all schools of magick and weaponry far better than anyone who has unlocked all licences in the 'Weapons' category on the license board in Final Fantasy XII. Thoughts and questions? Post them here. Problems? If you can keep the blame flame and name [calling] to a minimum post away, otherwise complaints go straight to me so no one know's you're being silly :P Thanks guys -Sat

Yeah, I thought it was funny that after all the US Army could pull out of their rear end,
they couldn't kill it.

Well now that a few people have seen the film, I hope that you all paid attention to the final scene of Coney Island on the handycam.
It links Rob and Beth's day together to what happens a month later, as you see *something* fall into the ocean in the distance over their shoulders.
One thing I personally didn't quite understand after the credits was the static. There were some words uttered, and until I went and looked it up on Wikipedia I was completely lost. What's said makes the US military seem like they're a waste of time and money if you ask me...haha.

Haha, sorry Dagger, but my mate was telling me that Australian Film Law requires that all movies be released on Thursdays. I don't know if he was just pulling my leg when he said this next part but you never know, I'm pretty gullible. Since the producers/directors of Cloverfield wanted a worldwide release [and we have our rules, other countries have theirs], Australia got it 36 hours or something along those lines before a whole lot of other places... Also, there was a MySpace Black Curtain pre-screening of it on Wednesday. I'm surprised more Aussies haven't posted their thoughts here? Go see it already! :D
-
I have three things to say about this movie: 1. Go see it. 2. Watch closely. And the final thing is to rope you all in. To sum up the movie I'd say: Cloverfield... A story of Love, Loss, and Motion-sickness. Yeah it was GREAT, but if you get queasy riding sitting backwards on trains, don't see it. Discuss A Fantasy RPG Concept, with a Christian Twist
AngryBarista replied to Aberinkula's topic in Theater

Light is god, and darkness is Satan, it jsut goes that way.
Right, well just for the fun of it I'll throw my own opinion in here. It's not right or wrong, and quite frankly a bit twisted :P Lucifer = Light-bringer. Lucifer is also Satan. This has been established and repeated many times. Satan is the 'fallen one'. This is just what I've heard and read, and I haven't done any in depth research on it so believe me if I'm wrong correct me. So thinking along this wavelength you could say that God could be Darkness and Lucifer, the light-bringer, tried to shine too brightly or blah blah whatever, hence him being cast into the fiery depths of hell. [Not forgetting that when you shine light through a magnifying glass, what do we get? Fire] Think back to the first KH game. Without light there cannot be darkness. By the same token wherever there is light darkness must follow. Just as God could allegedly be Light, he could also be Darkness. This would just make Satan 'Light', correct? Now if you want to start on about 'but that makes God evil and he's supposed to be all-loving', think of Light's harsher qualities and then apply them to Satan, and apply Darkness's cooler, calming qualities to God. Since one must be there in order for the other to exist, so also could either 'element' apply to either 'being'. If Terraprim is a topsy turvey world then you could switch Light = Satan and Dark = God, just for good measure. Or leave these elements out to keep arguments to a minimum. That's just my little speel, and my reasoning for leaving out holy/light and dark elements. Sorry if I confuse it was another rant ^^; -
Discuss A Fantasy RPG Concept, with a Christian Twist
AngryBarista replied to Aberinkula's topic in Theater
AHHH! 'Super-churches' are similar to Faiths? What a ripoff :P Joke, joke. Rant time. But seriously, thinking about elements there should be a set range of like 6 of them. Any more and you're starting to go way overboard. Suggestions for possible elements: - Fire-based [duh] - Water-based [clearly we require opposing elements] - Wind-based [no fart jokes] - Wood-based [don't laugh at this one either] This is where I get stuck. As this is an RPG based around religion [and what RP isn't, seriously look at it from all angles here], we'd want to steer clear from making a 'darkness' and a 'holy' element. I'm thinking that the final two elements, if there were only six, would possibly be something like a Lunar-based element and a Non-Elemental form of magic. Looking at Children of Mana and the 'Companion Spirits', they give you eight elemental spirits. The elements here are Fire, Water, Light, Dark, Wind, Wood, Moon and Earth. This is just something that flew through my mind at the mention of Faith-like areas where Prophets [Aeons] choose their partners. Prem if you already had a list of elements in your head would you mind throwing them out here for discussion? That would be ever-so-swell :P -

Haha, sorry you misunderstood Prem, that statement wasn't directed at you. Who is and who isn't Christian aside, I was merely pointing out that some posts in the thread have erred away from directly commenting on the RPG and instead turned into a bit of a rant about religion. ... There were also other questions and I am kinda interested in having them answered haha, I'm genuinely interested in the RPG. -
Discuss A Fantasy RPG Concept, with a Christian Twist
AngryBarista replied to Aberinkula's topic in Theater
Umm...correct me if I'm wrong or if I just lucked out on the 'pick up sarcasm' gene, but aren't most Fantasy RPGs based around religious acts? And don't most of them have some alternate reality in which Christianity is more topsy-turvey than it has been in reality in the past? And lastly...how did an RPG idea turn into 'let's flame Christianity under the radar'? These are some deep ponderous questions I'm asking here. Let's philosophise. -
I've read the Kamigawa trilogy and play the Kamigawa Cycle of MTG, so I pretty much understand it. Name: Mistress Greyclaw Race: Kitsune Age: 36 Personality: Quiet like many of her kind, Mistress Greyclaw is a mystery to even her own people. She is reclusive to the extreme, only making contact with those she thinks useful. She differs from other Kitsune-bito in that she chose to walk a darker path to her Light and Earthly worshiping bretheren; Greyclaw prays to Night's Reach. She is a worthy opponent in any fight, and can be nearly as ruthless as an Ogre. Weapons: Her claws [oh but wasn't it obvious?], a jitte [small defensive katana] and a long bo [staff]. Magic Abilities: Varying gifts passed to Greyclaw from Night's Reach include Ushering Complete Silence within reach of her ears, the ability to awaken the Kemuri-Onna [Lady of the Fens] spirit to wreck havoc upon the land and people inhabiting wherever her current location might be. Other small gifts from Night's Reach will unfold as the story continues, and as it can be assumed that the two above gifts can be quite devastating they take their toll on Mistress Greyclaw. This is the case with many abilities linked directly to a major kami. Bio: As a youngling, Greyclaw went by several names, including Wisptail, Slightear and Nighteye to name a few. She was something of an enigma, even amongst the Kitsune-bito and trained hard in the ways of stealth and trickery under her cousin once removed, Sharp-Ear. After a time, Greyclaw was judged even by Sharp-Ear to be a trickster, he shunned her, refusing to teach the young fox-woman. Not before being fooled into teaching her mastery of several kinds of weapon, however. At the end of her time with Sharp-Ear, Greyclaw was shunned by the majority of Kitsune. She had developed a liar's reputation and was no longer wanted by a people founded on honesty and caring for the group. It was at this time that the young Mistress took upon her name, Greyclaw. She travelled for a time, making her way through the Jukai forests to the far reaches of the mountainous region of the Ogres and back to Eiganjo itself. Her name went in and out of circulation, with a changing reputation amongst humans. Upon reaching Numai, Greyclaw developed a love for the tainted. Using the human gang-lords by means of utmost trickery, the now 25-year old Kitsune outcast took for herself a portion of the Takenuma Swamp on which to run a small business. She trained Nezumi to wield weapons of stealth, and formed a small army of assassins with which to start her business of death-dealing. For several years whispers spread throughout the Numai of a dead Kitsune, revived and killing those without honor, followed by rumours of a dark Mistress with greater power than Boss Uramon herself. Upon hearing such rumours, Uramon dispatched her lackeys to investigate, eliminating all but 3 of Greyclaw's bounty hunters. After this event, Greyclaw and her death dealers went into hiding. It was only recently that someone was contacted by the dark fox Mistress with an offer to help end the Kami War, and the most tainted Kitsune to roam Kamigawa resurfaced once again.
"Why do you hate homosexuals?" is a question often responded too as "Because they're faggots!" People will always fear (and thus hate) the unknown; that will never change. But we can change what is known and what is not, and the younger we start the better.
Nice point Warmside :) Education about homosexuality is already being covered in some schools here in Melbourne, Australia [Australia is pretty much cool with everyone really with one exception; "What's that? You root your cousins? You can go to Tassie then"] It's taught at about the age of 15-16, which is when sex-ed is being taught in secondary schools currently, as far as I'm aware. I myself first started learning about sex when I was 10, in grade 4. They cover the whole man-woman thing at that stage because its generally the time kids start asking questions. Generally. Move on to high school and lo-and-behold they're covering the whole shabang. I personally don't think it's necessary to start teaching kids what homosexuals are from the age of 10, but it's a parent's responsibility to cover it before sex-ed kicks in halfway through high school if they want their children to learn about it earlier on. Lemme know if you want me to clarify anything. Big night last night. Lol. Sat
