I doubt that they'll add any episodes to it. One thing i've come to realise while rewatching the series in Japanese, is that many of the pop-culture reffrences, and "easter eggs" as previously mentioned were actually added only in the English dubbing, to make some of the reffrences more understandable to an American audience. (The Pepsi/Van Halen reffrences, and the Hustler "audult books" reffrence are a couple that i caught.) In Japanese, the effect they were meant to have is the same, but they were originally reffrencing things from Japanese pop-culture, that most Americans wouldn't understand. I dont understand the Japanese versions reffrences, however the dubbed version is different, relaying the same message, but in a form Amerians, such as myself, can understand. There are still other things that were the same either way though, like the South Park animation.

I'm sad to say that i've only just now (well last night) seen FLCL, and i can pretty much already say that it is my favorite anime yet. I loved the many art styles, all of which were very good, and appropriate for the moment. There are so many unique characters, all of which i end up loving. All of this plus the story, which when really looked at goes so very deep, and has one of the most powerful/meaningful storylines i've come accross. I'll have to watch it over tons of times to catch the easter eggs in there (all i caught on to was
when Haruko was mentioning bands like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, and Jimi Hendrix, when she was offering guitar lessons)
. Well, also the obvious South Park animation. My favorite character was deffinately Kanchi (the robot), though i loved them all.

You sure have guts to say you could take over the world better than I! Especially since you plan to do it as an evil genious, and didn't even make mention of any giant robots in the shape of spiders... :animesmil

I'm very interested in seeing this movie. The books were good, and there looks to be some good effects in the movie. I wonder if they're planning on making a Restaurant at the End of the Universe...

I dont like that they are making another Saw movie. In terms of books, movies, games, stories in general, i like it very much when the story is left open. I gives the viewer, reader, etc. the opportunity to make whatever they want of it. There's allways the chance that it will turn out really good, but the last thing we need is another Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions disaster on a good movie to start.

Yes, i am looking forward to the OVA series very much, as it is said to elaborate much more on the manga version of the story, which will be very interesting and fun to see.
It seems mostly everybody is very tall here.
TALL!? This seems pretty short to me, with the exception of a few. I'm 6'2 (possibly 6'3, it's been a while since i checked), and i never even feel that tall when i'm at school or whatever.
High school is seriously overated. I am a freshman and got no respect, no respect at all. The other stupid freshman in my class go "haha lets go smoke weed and get drunk after class cause that the high school." Give me college please
This is just because your a freshman. It improves. I'm a Junior, Freshman year sucked, last year was... meh, and this year i recently stoped caring about EVERYTHING. School, friends, whatever, you name it i just dont care. It is better though. The best thing i can think of to sum up high school is... "The best four years of life, and the worst four years of life." Simple as that. It holds some of my best and worst memories ever. I can tell you this much, i cant wait for this year to be over! As for bullying, i must just have a good school, or something, because i'm always hearing about high schools being the most violent, or hurtful years. As much as i am sick of it (school), there isn't anyone who really bullys at my school. The most problems we have is with a few Freshman, who somehow got it into their heads that they were better than upperclassmen, but that's just a matter of respect. It's not like it matters anyway, because all the kids that act though could easily get their a**es beaten by any other kid. It's just that the rest of us have common sense. Example: I was walking out of school one day, and there was some punk Freshman kid blocking the door. I kept walking towards him, because i wanted to leave, he didn't move, so i just pushed through him, and walked out. Then he actually gets pissed about it! He just doesn't know his place, so i figured he isn't even worth my time, kept walking and that's the end of that chapter. That's pretty much what the whole school is like, laid back. It's a pretty good environment actually. We absolutely DO NOT have anyone who will push someone up out of nowhere, and tell them they suck or something.

Speaking on a realistic basis, i would buy ungodly amounts of anime and music. Some other stuff here and there, but those would consist of the bulk of it. Also speaking realisitcly, if i had tons of money, i sure wouldn't be wasting my time on a message board, that's for sure. But i'm a poor fool who will anyway. My vote on the other hand went to WORLD DOMINATION, as that seems the logical choice to pick. I could rule this world a hecka lot better than most evil dictators, i can tell you that much. Ecxept for maybe Fidel Castro. That man knows what he's doing.

I was also wondering if anyone else also liked "B" horror movies. Many of which are downright hilarious. My absolute favorite B horror is the whole "Evil Dead" series, consisting of Evil Dead, Evil Dead Pt. 2 (the first was actually meant to be a true horror, but it was so awful it was more funny than anything else, so the creators redid it with Pt. 2, which was meant to be a comedy more than horror), and of course the final chapter, Army of Darkness. Other greats are Robot Monster, Plan 9 From Outer Space, They Saved Hitler's Brain and some more that i can't remember right now. For any Futurama fans, the thing they have with famous people's heads in jars... that came from "They Saved Hitler's Brain."

I was pretty sure that the newer systems (most commonly known as the "Next Gen" consoles) are far more than 128 bits. They are easily better graphics than Dreamcast, and Dreamcast was 128. The newer gen we're in now is well over 200 bits. And yes, the Playstation was 32 bits originally, but the games they later created for it utilized the system better, so it was capable of 64 bit graphics. As for what i like, there are absolutely tons of games on the new systems that i love, but they are all games that i will play once, and most likely never agian. Older systems have me still coming back for more. In the long run, i'd say i like the older systems better, but i'm hooked on a couple next gen games (a feeling that probably just wont last, with the exception of party games).

I don't ussually get very scared from horror movies, but i love them all the same. The most recent i saw was Saw, which actually freaked me out for the night after i saw it. It's one of my favorite movies.
The Shining~Nice little film by Stanley Kubrick. A slow descent into madness, and quite a funny one at that. It's supposedly scary, as proclaimed by dozens of other people..[/Font']
Oh man, i know just what you mean. I mean The Shining was a good movie and all, but my dad says that it's the scariest movie ever, but i just don't think so. It's just like you said, cool, even funny at times, but scary? Not really. Maybe a little towards the end, but it wasnt really enough. The Simpsons halloween parody of it was hilarious though! You have to see the movie to understand most of the refferencces.

You have a Clash DVD? Let me see it! :animeswea Anyway, you know that the Slipknot live DVD kicks so much a**. I liked Korn's DVD. Not the live one but the other one. I have both, the live one is just... meh. But the other one has a ton of funny clips and whatever, plus a bunch of music vids. Rage live from their last concert kicked all forms of a**. Dont waste your money on Mudvayne though. I wasnt pleased with their DVD. Not the one i have anyway. Well those are all DVDs i have, so that probably wont help you. My dad has the Zepplin DVD (i'm not talking about The Song Remains the Same, but the other one), and you know how much it rocks! It doesnt matter if i have it or not, you NEED to buy it! I also hear that there's this one Manson DVD that's really good. Holy crap, i just realized that i got a Pearl Jam DVD last Christmas, and i haven't even watched it yet! Whats wrong with me?! Gee i feel hyper right now, i wanna go home... :animestun Well just look around, and see what good band DVD's there are. NIN perhaps? That'd be cool. Whatever, see you fifth hour, haha.

I'll admit i'm not huge metal fan or anything, it's just one of the very many genres that i like, therefore i don't have that much. Most of what i do have is nu-metal, but i'll just go ahead and list. -White Zombie- My favorite metal band. -Slipknot- ya they're real good (i think so anyway). Some people say they're fake or something just because they're popular, which is complete bull****. -KoRn- um a good band ^_~ -Mudvayne- i'm not gonna explain myself anymore -Manson- -Pantera- -Slayer- -Dio- -Killswitch Engage- -Kittie- girl singer. good metal though I also like a lot of older music, like Black Sabbath and AC/DC who kind of made metal what it is today. That's kind of it, unless you count stuff like System of a Down or NIN. And has anyone heard/listen to White Zombie? It's a little bit older, but i like it a lot. Rob Zombie was the lead singer, before he broke off and started his own thing. I have both White Zombie's and both Rob Zombie's CD's, and i like White Zombie much more than Rob alone (but Rob Zombie will have John-5 playing for him at Ozzfest this year, which is really good). Anyway, i was just wondering, because they seem to be a bit less known among metal, but they are very good.
I always post my opinion, even if it does cause a little controversy, as you can see, me getting bashed in the slipknot post lol. I really know nothing about John-5 so I couldn't really say whether I liked him or didn't like him. Its hard to actually pick out a certain guitarist in a song and listen to the actual tabs he/she is playing so its hard for me to comment.
I never meant to bash you. In fact i fully agree with you about Manson, that his n\music is pretty basic. All i was talking about was John-5, his ex-guitarist, who is a truly amazing guitar player. In fact, i recommend getting his CD Vertigo. You would never expect from listening to Manson just how good he is, and like NPC said he plays everything from bluegrass to heavier guitar. And he has essentially no lyrics (it's all just damn good guitar playing) so it isn't hard at all to focus on guitar, because it's pretty much all there is. I've heard that there are tons of people who love John-5 based on their music prefference. People who like classic rock, hardcore/heavy metal, basically anything that involves a guitar love John-5. As for Slipknot, i agree with you there too actually, Slipknot should stick with what their best at. But this isn't the place for that. So, yeah, i'm sorry i never meant to bash against you or anything.

I never care what anyone ever really says about a top ten list of bands or albums, because there are tons of people with tons of different views and opinions, so no matter what, there will always be disapointed people. Beisdes, it's just too difficult to make an accurate list of anything concerning music if it isn't divided by at least genres. There are absolutely TONS of differnet genres of music and to just throw them all into one list is completely unfair, to bands and the fans.

5 Most under rated and over rated bands or artists
boxybrown305 replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
And yes, punk really isn't musically challenging to begin with (it actually started as an offshoot of metal, but the bands wanted stuff that was simpler to play so they could goof around more onstage).
This may be true for a few punk bands, but generally that really isn't how punk got started. The main source of ideals and music for punk came from bands like The Who, and The Stooges, which are both bands i most certainly would not classify as metal. And the reason that people wanted to form a punk band (either the ideals or the simplicity of the playing, but usually a combination of both) was simply because they were ordinary people who wanted to have a band, but actually couldn't play very good. Case in point, The Ramones. Goofing off on stage was just something else that they did, but not the purpose. Some people should also keep in mind that overrated doesn't mean bad. Earlier in this list, i listed a few bands as overrated that i still love, similar to what Bodom said. Slipknot (for example) is overrated, but they still rock. -
Well, for all he Manson lovers that actually do check out this post, you should say why you like Manson because personally I don't find him all that great. His music is ok, but a lot of it is slow and just him in his solemn weird voice. It just seems hes trying a bit hard to be different and/or "weird" so that people are drawn to him from curiosity rather than musical talent.
This can be true in the musical sense of Marilyn Manson, however, it is COMPLETELY unfair to judge Manson's ex-guitarist, John-5 *points to banner*. He played for Manson from the Mechanical Animals tour (but not the CD) through Golden Age of Grotesque. He most certainly gave Manson a very good edge, but if you remotely appreciate musical talent you MUST listen to John-5's album, Vertigo. It is just amasing.

Once again, my point has been enforced by Bodom this time. However i can see x kakashi x's point as well. Where i do think that Slipknot should stick to their hardcore form, i also think that they have only been getting increasingly better. Go to a concert of theirs now, and their older songs sound even better. As for what Drizzle said, i agree that they should each stick to their own styles of music, but Stone Sour isn't a slow band. It was just tht one song that was slow, and even that song, unlike Vermillion, had darker lyrics. But in general, Stone Sour is more of a normal rock band, where Slipknot is quite a bit harder.
-
I agree with Drizzt, that lyrics are definately meant to mean something, if not to the listeners, to the singer. The one band that can truely jump out at me, known for their lyrics (which are some of the best ever made), is Nine Inch Nails. This song is Hurt from their album Downward Spiral. I hurt myself today to see if I still feel I focus on the pain the only thing that's real the needle tears a hole the old familiar sting try to kill it all away but I remember everything what have I become? my sweetest friend everyone I know goes away in the end you could have it all my empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of **** upon my liar's chair full of broken thoughts I cannot repair beneath the stains of time the feeling disappear you are someone else I am still right here what have I become? my sweetest friend everyone I know goes away in the end you could have it all my empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt if I could start again a million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way One of their best songs lyricly, though many others that are just as powerful. Another great band for lyrics is Nirvana. Both Trent Reznor and Kurt Kobain, i respect very much for their lyrics.

1. Age:- 17 2. Gender:- Male 3. Where are u from? (nationality, country) Born and raised in Wisconsin, i'm more Irish than anything else. 4. How did u come across anime? A variety of ways, a bit of all you listed. I originally got into anime when i was 4 years old or something and watched Dragon Ball, and Transformers. Other than that, my friends also like it, and my cousin is half Japenese, so ya... 5. Do you think Anime influences u as a person? Explain Well, i'm a hecka lot more nerdy than i would be if i didn't watch anime. Other than that, it doesn't influence desicions i make or anything like that. 6. Research shows that anime is increasingly popular with the western world. Why do you think this is so? Psshh! I don't know and don't care. I like it, and that's all that matters to me. 7. What attracts you to anime? Well, most of the anime that i watch, i love the story to it. Often it's a story that is rarely use anywhere else, even movies, so it can be very unique in that way. I also love the art style of most anime. 8. Is your interest in Anime, in any way related to an interest in Japan or to learn about Japenese society? Yes it is. 9. Have you taken a Japanese language class or been to Japan? No, but i sure would like to go to Japan! My cousin will be my translator. 10. Have you learned anything about Japanese culture, and if so, give 3 specific examples? Well, anime can be a pretty poor source of judging Japanese culture from. The representation of people, occupations, it is just as reliable as watching a movie about something, and saying that you've learned so much about it. With certain exceptions, it's just not true. Id o know a bit of Japanese culture from other sources though. I just don't rely on anime, or any entertainment for that matter, to base any opinions on. And i don't have 3 examples, or at least don't feel like thinking that hard.
It is Slipknot. What's wrong with trying something new? What's wrong with expressing a soft side? Who freakin' cares if it's supposed to be "death metal"; it's healthy to excersise versatility every once in a while. It shows the capability of the band. I absolutely love it. You have both the hard side of Slipknot, then there's a ray of light through a storm. It's not what you would expect from a band like Slipknot, but that's the beauty of it all. That's what makes them so talented, and one of the better metal bands out there. Appreciate that.
That's the exact point i'm trying to make here. They tried something new, and honestly, i think it turned out good. Besides it's not fair to judge a CD on one song of a whole great album. Like i said, i liked it all, yes even Vermillion, but i have a much more wide range of music tastes than it seems some others here do. As for x kakashi x, i really wasn't reffering to Vermillion when i said that the lyrics were just as hardcore. I mean what about the suicidal message of Duality? And when you say that it shouldn't take nine people to do an accustic song, well your right, cause it didn't. for the two accustic songs of Vol. 3, it was pretty much just Corey and James that did anything. Also, it kind of suprised me at first that they did an accustic song, but then it grew on me, especially having heard some of Stone Sour's music, which if you dont know has Corey Tyalor, and James Root in it. Anyway, it's like i said before, Vol. 3 certainly isn't their best, but it's still damn good, and i have quite a few other die hard Slipknot fan friends that would agree.
-
Now, i love Slipknot like you wouldn't believe, and although it certainly isn't the best album, i thought Vol. 3 was very good. It isn't any softer then it ever was before, infact all the music on it was, lyricly, as hard as anything they've done before. If you can't look into it and see it for what it is, and just assume that because it's slow, and has no swears then your really missing out on a lot. Besides if you don't like Vermillion, well that's just one (or two if your refering to both versions of Vermillion) song out of fourteen other excellent songs. As for Mudvayne, all their CD's are all right. I found L.D.50 to be their best album. If anything it's Mudvayne that's becoming more mainstream than Slipknot, but they both are good bands.
Do you have the licenced Sony brand memory card or a thrd party one( the yellow NYKO memory card)? i know that my old NYKO memory card used to give me corrupt data sometimes and I would have to start all over. The one I had for my Gamecube once formatted itself and erased everything. Now thgat I got a sony emeory card it doesn't do that anymore.
The same thing happened to a Gamecube memory card of mine, that was a third party brand. Since that, and some trouble with third party controllers, i only use direct brands for my systems (Sony brand for PS2, Nintendo for GC, and Microsoft for Xbox). Nothing ever goes wrong with the real thing, unless you do something to it.
