I know plenty of people who, attitude wise, are more goth than anyone wearing ten pounds in chains around their legs. That isn't necessary. But then again, what do you define as "goth"? are you talking about satanic devil worshipers or something?

Cool, you guy said some other greats i forgot about. Of course Dimebag Darrell (Rest in Peace), and Wylde played for Sabbath? i thought it was only Ozzy. Also Mick and James of Slipknot pluse Head and Munk from Korn... The list goes on.

A good one could be Akira, if you don't think he's too young for that... Other wise Tokyo Babylon could be an option too, or X (the series). No matter what you get, i recomend ordering online. If you go someplace, it's just too expensive. E-Bay is pretty reliable, but a great site for this would be sundevildvd.com FLCL would probably be the best choice if he hasn't seen it, it's only $10 at sundevildvd as opposed to almost a hundred anywhere else.

I used to play bloody knuckles. I wasn't too bad at it, but we played it in lunch in middle school, so some people would go to class later with hands covered in blood. Another was slapps. one person holds their hands out, the other with their hands underneath (or at their sides, either works). the person with the hands out has to avoid getting slapped on the hands by the other, but if they flinch on a false alarm, they automatically get slapped. There were some mighty raw pink hands from this one. Finally, my personal favorite was one were two people stand and face each other, each holding a large peice of cardboard (or something similar). you quickly take turns bashing each other on the heads with your cardboard, and each turn hit a bit more hard. The first to make any noise at all loses.

We all know that Zakk Wylde knows his way around five strings (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), but what about the rest? Basically, who are your top 5 fav guitarists? I say... 5) Tom Morello - he's a good guitarist for Audioslave, but if you've ever listened to Rage Against the Machine, you know how awsome he really is. Often, he makes his guitar playing sound like he's scratching a record, truly amazing. 4) Jimi Hendrix - undoubtedly some people will say he belongs number one, and others will say he doesn't belong. Well he does belong, and i'm sorry but he's just not the best. Quite exceptionally good though! 3) Steve Vai - this ex-Whitesnake guitarist is amazing. He did the music for Halo 2, but his solo work is great. 2) Eric Clapton - if you've never heard of this guy, you seriously need to rethink your music tastes. Often quoted, "Clapton is GOD," this alone is explanation enough. 1) Jimmy Page - without a doubt, the best of the best in my opinion. There really isn't much more to say... HE'S GREAT! You must listen to his solo work, Led Zepplin, and The Yardbirds. Dear god he's great!

Nirvana certainly was mainstream. Especially in terms of grunge, it was the most popular of grunge. A good example of a more low key grunge band which i'm shocked to see was not mentioned, is The Melvins. Get their CD "Ozma" if you don't already have it. That's an order.

Anime the problems with school and anime
boxybrown305 replied to Twilight_Kioku's topic in Otaku Central
I have the same problem but its at home, when I'm drawing my parents go "Why are her eyes so big?" When I'm watching anime "Whats with this demon crap?" And then they have the nerve to ask me why am I always secluded in my room! I can't take it any more :animesigh :animeangr
I'll admit my parents don't appreciate anime enough, nor do they understand it, but they certainly don't mind me watching it. -
A thing that you could do for a name is take a deck of magic cards and pick some random one and if you like the name, then go with it. They have some pretty creative names in those. just an idea, though
Ha, yeah, like "The Mistform Drakes" or "Thragnor the Destroyer" lol. There actually are some unique names in those cards, but are you sure that wouldn't be infringing any copy rights or something?
Will Smith sampling "Rock the Casbah" to make "Willenium"
How could Will Smith disgrace Rock the Casbah like that? I LOVE that song, one of the best Clash... I respect Smith as an actor, but not at all as an artist.
OMG LIKNKIN PARK IS LK SO FREKIN COLL!!!!!11!!!11 Yeah, I like Linkin Park. There first album was awesome. I don't really consider Reanimation an album, but I guess it wasn't bad. I just never got used to the changed lyrics. Meteora has some really good songs, but they mostly sound the same. Listening to the first CD never got old, but after seeing Breaking the Habit 50 times, I can't listen to the band at all until the next CD comes out.
I agree, first=best. but some new lyrics weren't bad either... the whole "let the blood hit the floor" thing was totally awesome! Especially in Live in Texas. Great CD that was. DVD at that.

5 Most under rated and over rated bands or artists
boxybrown305 replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Over rated : Slipknot ( please don't kill me) under rated: Dir en grey
We won't kill you for saying Slipknot is overrated... just gouge your eyes out. JK :animesmil I can see your point how they are kinda, sorta overrated, but they still rock!!!! -
I've never been to any type of convention, though if/when an anime convention came my way, i could see myself going... I don't think i would be willing to drop more than $50 no matter what though.

Anime the problems with school and anime
boxybrown305 replied to Twilight_Kioku's topic in Otaku Central
I'm a junior in high school and in my school, we aren't allowed to change wallpapers at all. Although i am in a graphics class, and many projects that i get (creating a business, web site, videos, etc.) are strongly based on anime (by my choice, except the one project we had to make a video of a cartoon... why wouldn't i choose anime?), and not only is it allowed, but my teacher priases for good work done! :D I have even made a video of Evangelion that has a slightly revealing image of Rei on it (it technically doesn't show anything) and it's ok. Guess me and my friends are just lucky. :animeswea As for r2vq there it sounds to me like you go to a wierd school... NO SCHEDULE? That's crazy... Sure we have a schedule, but quite understanding teachers. -
If you just disregard it, and say life's not fair, then where do you draw the line? "Hey, someone help me, i'm a slave and get beat..." "Well, sucks for you. Life's not fair..."
There's no doubt about they being good, but they're not that awesome as everyone finds them, IMHO. I found Hybrid Theory the best album, from that point on, it's all downhill.
Exactly. LP's pretty good, but i don't find them to be that great or anything... If you like LP, and want to get into other music i recommend Rage Against the Machine. They rock awsome hard!

Presidents of the united statse of america (pusa) also did a cover of "Kick out the jams" White Zombie did a bad *** (as in GREAT for the slow ones out there...) cover of "boggie man" Rob Zombie did an awful cover of "Blitzkreig Bop", and an ok version of "Brick House" Joey Ramone did "What a wonderful world" Rage Against the Machine (RATM or Rage) also did some other cover from a rap band. i forget the band, but the song was "How i could just kill a man" i don't care for rap, but this was a good song... Many people did "I Faught the Law", Clash, Green Day, Dead Kennedeys (DK)... Some band (i forget the name) did a full CD cover of Pink Floyd's Animals Slipknot did a cover of Korn's "Blind" though it's very hard to find That's all i can think of right now... Oh yeah... DK also did "Viva Las Vegas"

i don't think they'r going to make a second season. It would have been better off just to make it a 26 episode series. To get the fullest depth, i recomend reading the manga.

Boy oh boy, really cleared up some questions there. Thanx! :D Now i can rest peacefully...

Anime (ANIME) more for kids or teens
boxybrown305 replied to FireDemon_Hoshi's topic in Otaku Central
What I'm trying to get at is that live-action porn is still a type of live-action movie. Drawn porn is still manga (or comics; pick your poison). And frankly there are plenty of television anime that come very, very close to being outright hentai (yet are never categorized as such, which begs the question of where one would draw the line. What about anime that are less explicit, but obviously attempting to pander to the lolicon crowd? What about series that are packed with excruciatingly detailed, gratuitous violence? Anyway, a show doesn't have to be outright porn in order for sexual titillation/gratification to be its primary raison d'etre... *glances at Girls Bravo* I think the fact that it's animated (in Japan, if you will) is what makes it anime, along with art style (though to a lesser extent). Content is pretty much the absolute last factor I'd consider when trying to judge stuff like this, because anime is simply a subset of a larger medium, animation, not a genre (as others have pointed out). Plenty of anime are disgusting, gruesome, just plain bad and generally not worth the time of day. Anime does not have to be wholesome or profound to qualify as anime. ~Dagger~
OK. i see your point, and you right. it doesn't change the fact that i don't want cartoons to turn me on... ;) -
Anime (ANIME) more for kids or teens
boxybrown305 replied to FireDemon_Hoshi's topic in Otaku Central
Except that once you reach this conclusion, there's nothing to stop you from deciding that any show you dislike isn't anime, simply because it doesn't fit your ideal of what anime should be. No matter how "disgraceful" hentai may be, you'd be hard-pressed to find an accepted definition of anime which excludes it. :animeswea ~Dagger~
A valid point, but when i say hentai, i'm not talking about fanservice, which is a given part of anime. Even some exposure can be ok (thinking Tenchi Muyo). But when the unique art style of anime/manga is used for the sole purpose of pornography, i disregard it as a respectable anime... it's just porn. :animesigh There are lots of anime i don't like, however i don't disregard it. It's still anime... just bad anime. :o -
Thanx for the extra info, :animesmil but i'm still curious,
what was it specifically that let to Seishiro killing Subaru's sister (whatever her name is).
That's all i still need to know i guess...
And I would much prefer that a kid be suspended over a look-alike weapon than to have the administration be lax about things of that nature and allow another school murder to happen...
For the school to be lax on the issue would of course be bad. But it doesn't at all have to be so strict. They should NOT ruin a girls life (essentially it seems) just because her MOM, not her, put a knife in her lunch... so she could eat...
