It's both. Anime is an easy was to kill a day off. We do it cause we like it. It's a hobby. We have lives, but this is a main focus of entertainment. Others thing it's a waste of time... those who sit home all day watching MTV. Both sets of people go to parties, hang out, work, and do other randomness. We both have lives, or the same amount of lifelessness in us. List... Anime: Cop Drama: Ghost in the shell Kung Fu movie: Half of it. Porn: Hentai Everyone else: Cop Drama: NYPD BLUE Kung-Fu movie: Kung-fu movie Porn: Porn Our entertainment is slightly varied. We substitute bad actors with squigly lines. Our Kung-fu movies have fireballs, and our porn has a good storyline. I think we're bettter off.
most of what you say makes sense. but could you define "life"? (as in" have no life")

well, results are in. labor wins. BUT... they have a much less majority now, and mr blair has a much weakened government. only bad thing is lib dems got in where i am. ah well, i can vote next time, so maybe that'll make a difference
-
so many wannabe world dominators..... it's a good job this is only theoretical, otherwise we would have a MAJOR conflict on our hands here.
I think Tony is the best choice.
that was a joke, right? tony blair is an ***hole. all he does is look dim and regurgitate old policies while trying to make them seem all his own, seroiusly, that chicken over there *points to chicken* could do a better job of running great britannia.

China, Japan, Korea, and something dumb.
Lord Dante replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion
The reason for the anti-Japanese protests were because they believed that the Japanese government were sheltering their growing youth of sorts by not telling their kids how much pain their ancestors really caused during WW2.
to be honest, i don't blame them fro trying to shelter their youth from what their ancestors had done. I'm not entirely sure that the sins of the previous generation should be passed on to the next. -
I imagine Labour will be getting into power again, which is a shame, as I don't really like Mr. Blair very much. Don't trust that man when it comes to his strategies. If I was allowed to vote I'd be going Lib. Dem. as they seem to have it sorted pretty well when it comes to their policies on education. Mum doesn't even know who to vote for, but I think she may go Conservative. I wish we had someone like Maggie back in, I know a lot of people won't agree with me but she done so much for this country and really helped in the long run. Am I the only one who thinks that none of the parties are focussing on crime nearly enough?
no you aren't. but the lib dems would certainly not be any better. personally, i reckon it'd be good to se veritas in power, se if they could do things different.
I hate writing essays at home. Seriously, I find it to be very boring unless the subject interests me. Usually when I'm at home I have all of the time in the world to write an essay, and when I have a lot of time to do something, I slack off. I don't think that I've ever finished an essay at home very quickly. On the flip side, and I feel like a real dork for admitting this, but I really like writing in-class essays. The fact that you only have a limited to finish it and make it really good makes it so much more fun. When I have a time limit breathing down my neck, it's a hell of a lot easier to map out an essay in my head and transfer it to paper
i agree one-hundred percent with shinamru. time pressure is good. lots of time is bad. but thankfully, i don't have the problem of the notorious hand cramps that may poeple have mentioned, as my shool allows me to write using a computer.
I applaud you, Lord Dante. Here is a man who truly knows what he is talking about. With world domination, nothing else matters, because any whim of yours is there for the taking. Not to mention the hardships and responsibilities that come along with being such a great leader, it takes true bravery to take on such a challenging "career" option. Heck, you could organise a series of lights all throughout Earth, and go view your anime from space. The one true big screen. If you ever become world leader or facist dictator or whatever you want, make me your advisor or something, cause i wnat in on that space viewing. I shall likewise do the same for you, should i reach my dream of world domination.
Thanks. i may have to take you up on that spacelight idea! that sounds awesome. and sure, advisorship is yours if you want it!
Okay, I know its pretty much only a day away and I guess a thread should have been started sooner. To all you Brits out there (and I guess the rest of ya can join in too ^_~) What do you think the odds are of Labour been voted in for another consecutive five years and pretty much assuring that Mr Blair will be in power for as long, if not longer than Margaret Thatcher. I myself shall be voting Conservative, even though my friend insists that Michael Howard is as shady as they come. Strict control of imigration, discipline in schools, the manditory cleaner hospitals policy and a focus on the "forgotten majority" everyday hard working Britains who are extorted everyday by Labour. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
well done that man. i have to admit that i hold no hope for labor getting the oust, there are just to0 many blind believers still, but we can only watch and wait.

jujudormah from onimusha 2 has sparked anew my dislike for her. talking in that stupid sing-song voice and acting like a moron. i'm glad i get to slice her up for the oni orb.
Shinichiro Watanabe and Miyazaki's work is artistically among my favourites. But my favourite anime director has to be Shinichi Watanabe AKA Nabeshin, for his shameless self-insertation in to excel saga.
i'll agree. nabeshin directing an anime with nabeshin in it was cool. aparrently, there's a rumor going around about him doing a nabeshin saga. anyway, as for directors, the only two i know are masamune shirow and nabeshin. so i'll say them
Connection speed isn't really an issue when you are watching something weekly. However, that difference in speed really adds up when you download in bulk (i.e., an entire season/series at once). Also, you might not download movies all that often, since they range from 700 MBs to 4 GBs. So, if you are willing to sit down and watch only 1-3 episodes per week of an anime, a 38.8kbps connection is more than good enough.
yeah well, i still gotta find somewhere to download from. as i have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE where to download anime from.

here are some i just pulled out of my backside (metaphorically speaking) so they may not be any good. sunglasses guy: kabapu (excell saga) idiot: iwata (excel saga) fat guy: giant puuchuu robot (excell saga)
-
Anime What anime world would you be most afraid to live in and why?
Lord Dante replied to Otaku America's topic in Otaku Central
i donno. maybe the excel saga world. daily puuchuu invasions could get quite annoying, plus things are blowing up every freakin' minute.- so probably there. -
I have developed a newfound hatred for tokichiro kinoshita. that stupid weedy samurai-servant of Oda Nobunaga. he prances around the place, calling you names and setting demons on you, also he can't fly for crap - that airship looked expensive. tokichiro is just plain wrong.

Movie comes out over here soon. it looks good, especially the trailer i've seen where they "demolish" the earth.
You could always try the internet! You can practically anything on that thing. :P Just google anime and I bet you'd find billions of awesome anime stores online that you could get sent to you in England. Unless you've already tried that, which you probably have... Oh, and about the cons... you're not alone. I live in the U.S. but none of them come to Michigan so it's really boring! :animesigh
yeah well, the ONLY anime superstore website i've found is crap simply for the reason that it won't accept my kinda card. and as for downloading anime. what can i download on a 38.8kbps connection?

I would spend the money on world domination. because when the world is mine, i'll have acess to ALL anime and manga ever created. plus i reckon it'd be a tough job ruling the world, and i never take the easy route.
