Every time I'm swamped with homework, I fall into a black hole of MST3K on youtube TV was so much better when this show aired, for sure (esp. the Mike era!) obvious favorites: The Final Sacrifice, Space Mutiny, and Giant Spider Invasion I don't know much about the volume sets though~~~~ what do you guys recommend? Which episodes are your favorites?

You know, I'm not such a die-hard Indy fan, but I can't help but be nervous about any series resurrection these days. I mean, Star Wars I-III, for instance: a total rape of my childhood -___- But seriously. The surprising thing is that this movie actually looks good. I don't know if any of you have played Assassin's Creed, but a lot of the plot elements from the new Indy movie remind me of all the cryptic writing at the end of the game. Like the Nazca lines seen in the previews and the crystal skulls themselves (they were in there, I think...?). Anyway, I'm pretty pumped ^^ Esp if it's better than Prince Caspian... that movie rocked.
This has me pumped. I've heard Iron Man is awesome and I watched Prince Caspian yesterday, which I thought was even better than the first Narnia movie. Too bad they cut my favorite line from the book, but stuff happens.
So what is your favorite line from the book?

The latest edition to my musical obsessions would have to be Dream Theater! They're such an underrated band in my opinion and I'm very sorry that I'm only now really appreciating them. Systematic Chaos, they're recent album is currently what's playing in the car, in the house and on my Laptop almost constantly. The friend who originally got me into them is sending me odd songs from the other albums which are being added to my Media playlist in a similar manner and I'm most likely gonna splash out on some more albums after pay day when I decide to do a bit more shopping! I'm not even gonna bother going into why I like DT's music, I just wouldn't do them justice. I highly recommend!
Oh I love Dream Theater :animesmil I don't think their music is as mind-blowing as Opeth's unearthly rock, but they are pretty awesome. Recently, though, I've become a die-hard fan of the Gorillaz :animeswea Their music just makes me happy lol

Eh thanks for the welcome :p And the tips, for that matter. Having a point of reference in the sea of x-men is unbelievably helpful. I'll check out the Ultimate series :)
;805405']Well, geez. Everything I've read of X-Men is completely out of order. Mostly new stuff that reads like fan-fiction and such. I tried reading the older ones, but I really like good art. And the old, original stuff is... well, old. I have a great respect for it. But it's old. I say start at the very, very beginning. If you can find it. =/ Sorry to not be of great help, but I had to reply the second I saw the word 'X-Men'.
Exactly. I'm a die-hard Batman fan, but when it comes to the old stuff I just can't face the artwork. Plus the writing leaves something to be desired (of course... that's with most comics >_>) I guess it's the concept that makes them cool. That, or all the cartoons :animesmil

As a [single] cynic, I don't derive much joy from Valentine's Day. To me, it's more like a profit-garnering holiday for Hallmark... It's just sickening to be bombarded by hordes of twee decorations every time I go to buy groceries. Of course, that's not to say I'd find a way to enjoy it if I had a significant other ;) (I'm not as bitter as I sound. Honestly ^^)

Now That We've Narrowed Down The Candidates...
are i replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
In fact, I'm not too interested in any of the candidates really, maybe I'm becoming jaded, but all of them seem to have too many problems. It's how it's always been I'm sure, but for some reason, this election just seems to embody that stupidity even more than usual.
It seems to me that people are far too willing to insult politicians. I know that might sound insane, but considering all the stupid things I say, I wouldn't look very good on tv either--particularly when no one wants you to. The government is full of checks and balances, so it's not as though the pres is the final factor in everything that sidles out of the white house anyway. (Though, for some reason, the President is blamed for all the evils plaguing the world at large.) In the end, I don't care how many stupid things the guy's said behind a podium or how many times he's been filmed drunk (they're humans, remember?). I just want someone who will make the best possible decisions his position allows, which most likely won't conform to any idealistic dogma that most people want the world of politics to fit into. -
Normally I try to stay away from classic American comic series, simply because the story lines and publications are so ridiculously convoluted. (Not to mention, to get the back story, I just end up reading a ton of cliche, poorly drawn stuff from the olden days). However, I really like x-men, and I'm determined to get into the comics. I just have no idea where to start (chronologically), and otherwise what's actually worth reading. So... if you can comprehend the x-men comics, please help :animeswea

I saw it yesterday, and I think it's definitely one of my favorite movies now. I heard a lot of people in the theatre saying bad stuff about it, but given the previews, I can't see how they couldn't love it unless they just had no idea what they were going to see lol. The entire film is geared towards making you feel as though you actually are watching a tape that was made during the attack. There can't be too much hardcore character development, etc., without undermining the authenticity of a guy simply filming his experience. The camera angles might annoy some people, but they made me feel as though I were actually there. It kinda freaked me out, actually ^^
One thing I personally didn't quite understand after the credits was the static. There were some words uttered, and until I went and looked it up on Wikipedia I was completely lost. What's said makes the US military seem like they're a waste of time and money if you ask me...haha.
Dang... I wanted to stay to see if there was anything after the credits, but they kicked me out to sweep the place :animesigh Looks like I'll just have to see it again, to see what this is all about

Yeah, it definitely freaks me out lol. Even on easy (which I need because I suck at video games), I can't get passed the tension from knowing that a houdini could appear out of nowhere and slaughter me... though, even the slaughtering is enjoyable for some reason lol. It's the atmosphere, I guess. I love all the ridiculously industrial upgrades for the weapons, and the dated music... it all works so well with that plot. It is easy to miss out on what's going on, but I think it's cool that they give you the choice of listening to the recorded journals or simply indulging in a graphically impressive shooter. Either way, it's easy to get to pulled into the story. I love it :animesmil

Hey, I'm about to start college so I've been saving up to buy myself a laptop that I can easily carry around and use for both school and WoW. I'm partial to HP, but I'm not sure what brand is best for gaming and mobility... Of course, I'm not sure a small, light, gaming laptop even exists :animeswea Any advice would be much appreciated ^^ (btw, my budget is $3K tops)

Who has the coolest song on their Myspace profile?
are i replied to Jakehammaren's topic in Noosphere
As much as I bow to Norwegian death metal (and pretty much anything involving Norse mythology), I'm afraid this guy has us beat:
Well. This is no competition. I have the original Power Rangers theme song. Now, THAT is a song you can shred to.
Vintage Power Rangers is simply beyond epic... only Ninja Turtles can top that. -
It took me awhile to get into anime themes. :animeswea I had this pre-conceived notion that all of them were trash... until I heard "Lilium" from Elfen Lied :D It's definately my favorite. Cowboy Bebop's opening theme is also pretty catchy... oh, and Speed Grapher's opening theme. I haven't found any ending themes that I really like, though... Witch Hunter Robin, maybe...

That sounds great! If you have the opportunity, you should definately go for it. I hear Japan is pretty stirct about the academic capabilities of foreign exchange students, though, so work hard and go have fun for the rest of us :catgirl:

I saw V for Vendetta last week, and I was impressed. They didn't put so much action in that it detracted from the political message. Natalie Portman's accent was a little forced, true, but her acting was very good compared to Star Wars III :animeswea
I've heard some people complain because V wasn't unmasked, but I think they missed the point... we weren't supposed to see his face. When the crowd of people took off their masks at the end, that was like V's unmasking. :)
As far as the Matrix goes, I'm still in love with the first one (the second and third were trash).... however... I think the Wachowski brothers redeemed themselves with V for Vendetta.

"are i" sounds like bad grammar, but it's actually a connotation of schizophrenia. I thought it was pretty clever, myself :p
Some of you will find it funny, others will find it offensive. You be the judge. Just post a reply! I want to see what everyone thinks.
Well, look at all the controversy over a simple list... and it was funny as heck too. My favorites: 54. Pretend that you hate the world. 61. Insert the word "@#%$" in the middle of two words -- ie. "I like coco-@#%$-nut" I'm just sick of hearing "45" on the radio. They try way too hard to sound depressed and suicidal. :animesmil Oh yea, and this one too: 92. Say that you're going to commit suicide whenever no one pays attention to you. (Someone's about to say that whoever wrote "45" isn't a nu-metal band... ;) )
...I can't stand that show, "SDF Gundam..." It made me soooooo mad.... "Tallgeese? What kind of a name is that? HAHAHHA!!!" That's all it took for me to not watch the rest of the episode to see if the series was any good (which I think not...). Sure, I questioned the name, but I didn't make fun of the past Gundam... :( Jerks... :animeangr
Well, there certainly isn't any show quite like SDF Gundam... if there was one thing I never thought I'd see in a Gundam series, it was cg chibi mechas chanting about friendship :twitch: It's one of those shows that, after watching, you walk away with slightly less intelligence.

Once again, the media manages to turn people against each other. There are thousands of people dead, thousands more who will die if they can't get help, and all anyone seems to be concerned about is who's to blame for the lack of preparation. Every time they get someone talking on the news, they hammer them with questions like "Well isn't it true ----- could have been done to prevent such devastation?" Why don't they concentrate on something like actually helping people instead of arguing about how the situation could have been better? It is what it is- do what you can. The last thing they need in New Orleans is the media stirring up controversy- I'm just glad there are still sane people around to organize donations and distribution of supplies.
Shady, yea. But shooting at Med Evacs? That's just... wtf? One of my friends aunts worked in one of the hospitals along the river until recently when she was rescued, but they've been working tirelessly to keep 350 critical patients from dieing, literally keeping them alive with manual lung-pump thingies. One of the nurses went out to get a breath of air and was attacked and robbed. I know the Big Easy has a history... but...
Apparently, mankind is determined to bring itself to extinction... it's beyond me why someone would snipe a helicopter that was trying to save people. What is there to gain? Of course, I don't suppose these people are thinking very rationally...

This entire situation is completely bizarre. Here in central MS, we're stuck without running water or electricity (except for a generater, that runs the freezers and a comp, but no AC :animeangr ). I can't imagine what's going on in New Orleans, though... people must be reverting to "survival" mode... I mean, the city's underwater, and there are hundreds stuck without food and fresh water. I really can't blame people for the (practical) looting. Around here, we're just stuck without power and water, and people are going completely primal over gasoline. Right now, I'm isolated inside my house, and I have no idea if everyone I know is alright (since the telephones aren't working). School seems like something from a different lifetime... My parents won't be quiet about how the people stranded in New Orleans should have left sooner... I'm about ready to beat them for being such ********. My heart's in New Orleans, and I pray for the survival and safety of its people. I just hope this entire situation will end itself before the gulf turns into "Lord of the Flies" or something... (that's about where my house is headed... :animesigh ) Peace

the first manga i ever read/bought was dragon knights. it's kinda funny and has great art, but it's really not worth the 20 some volumes it is >.

I'm better with a pencil (drawing) than anything else, but I can only draw what I see. It's extremely frustrating, since everything I want to draw is in my head. The best I can do is accumulate random items and draw different pieces of the work at different times... but really, who has the attention span for something like that? ;) Other than art, I have about three million short stories lying around in odd places. Writing is therapeutic... I think everyone should give it a stab.

Norma Jean's older music is a lot better then the recent in my opinion. "O' God the Aftermath" didn't impress me at all. Maybe I had high hopes but it was really lacking in passion.
"O God, the Aftermath" was recorded with a new bassist and a new vocalist... I actually bought the album out of denial. When I listened to it, I felt like I was stabbed in the gut. Most of the songs sound the same to me... a chaotic thrashing of guitars, basically. The new screamer just isn't as good as "Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child," either. Lacking in passion, indeed.

Ah, The Chariot... forever entertaining us with the looks on people's faces as they listen to Die Interviewer... (they never see it coming...) Heh. Anyway, I've never really understood why hardcore is so appealing, considering so much of it is shear chaos that drowns out any hint of melody... some sort of desire to have your brains blown out your ears, I suppose. Since you listed Haste the Day, I'm going to make a stretch and add this one... Atreyu- Hardcore/Metal/Emo Favorite Album- Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses Favorite Songs- 1. A Vampire's Lament 2. Someone's Standing on My Chest What not to say about Atreyu? Great vocals, both the screaming and the melodic. (Non of the roughness like Thursday... eh, sorry but it's true :p ) The guitars can get a bit repetitive, but it's not something you notice... in the sense that the riffs are good enough to be repeated. Overall, the music is original and impressive. The lyrics are characteristically emo, but it's good emo. :animesmil

Than, by definition, all Christians (True Christians) are Facists. They are all guilty of 'Gentle Genocide.' Even if the intentions are good, that's notihng but imposing one's will on others.
Okay then... metaphors... If you had the cure for cancer, the ability to save millions of people from a mortal death, wouldn't you share it? Wouldn't you want people to know so they wouldn't have to die needlessly? If you knew how to save people from an eternal death, wouldn't you share it? Wouldn't you want people to know so they wouldn't have to suffer needlessly? After all, what is a mortal death compared to eternal suffering? You may argue that this is uncomparable because cancer is a very tangible desease whereas Hell is a belief of a certain religion. But to Christians (eh, except the Lutherans...) Hell is as real as cancer, and even moreso. To Christians, Hell is worse, because cancer will eventually fade into non-existance while Hell is eternal, and much more painful. This is a Christian's motivation. Of course, offering someone the cure to cancer could also be considered imposing one's will on another. Just remember that while Christians may be persistant, we aren't forcing you to believe. It's your own choice, no one else can make it for you. (It's not our place to condemn you because you didn't choose to believe, either. We will simply believe you are wrong ;) )
I know it's wrong to generalize all Christians into one (and again I apologize if it seems I've done that) because Christiany has divided into so many parts: Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Baptist, Anglican and all the sects that have separated theirselves from it, like the Mormons and Adventist etc. I reckon that not even all Christians realize how divided their own religion is...
You know, the fact that so many Christians can't seem to agree on anything would be funny if it weren't so sad. :animeswea

There is only one thing that really really bothers me about the series... and that is that i dont really know how to pronounce the name >.>' do you pronounce it as seperate syllables as defined by hyphens "es cry ed" or as one word "escraid" or "scraid" either i missed it, or im just ignorant of some japanese pronunciation or something... regardless, how do you pronounce it? -rave master
You know, I actually entered this thread with the sole intent of asking this question. (Guess it's a good thing I read the other posts first...) But really, how on earth do you pronounce something spelled s-CRY-ed? At first I assumed it was es-cry-ed, like it's spelled, but it's also spelled scryed (apparently) and perhaps the creaters were simply adding emphasis to the word "cry"...? I guess it's somewhat of a mystery- perhaps we'll never know :animesmil
