1.who is your fave charater?
Musica. Cool character.
2.What was your fave show.
Berserk? Neon Genesis Evangelion? Great Teacher Onizuka? Elfen Lied? Fullmetal Alchemist? What are you talking about? Favorite episode? I guess when that guy was forcing Haru to dance. That was pretty funny.
3.Why did they change the time that rave is showen on cartoon network?
Bad ratings. The show obviously wasn't getting enough viewers to keep it on Toonami.

This is gonna get locked. Introduction threads are considered spam here. (though I don't see that in the FAQ or rules) Anyways, add Berserk and Elfen Lied to that list sometime in the near future. Berserk may take a while to pick up (the battle scenes in episode 2 are so bad that I busted up laughing when I first saw them), but its one of my favorites once the plot picks up. Elfen Lied is just awesome straight from the get go. I would give you a review of both, but I don't really feel like it. Do some quick research on both of them. Fansites can probably explain those shows better than I can.

I've heard talks about the first ammendment on my favorite morning show the other day, and it reminded me of the mentality that I saw on the news a few years ago concerning their rights. Before I go any further, allow me to explain my view on why this whole security increase thing is unneeded. If you remember, the 9/11 attacks had been anticipated and documented 5 times before the attacks. Each time, the documents had gotten caught up on the bureaucratic level and never reached the ears of the people that could have done something about it. The failure was not on the field, it was in the cubicle. However, the government still used the 9/11 attacks as an excuse to increase their hold and attempt to strip away more of our rights to freedom and privacy. (including the ever-so-infamous Patriot Act) With that in mind, take a look at this. Its old, but... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/08/30/national/main520314.shtml Or if you want that spelled out plainly... http://www.jimgilliam.com/2002/09/first_amendment_poll.php What. The. Hell. What kind of stupid *** would willingly give up his constitutional rights to free speech and freedom of press? They want the government to be able to keep stories from us if they don't like them? They want to government to have the ability to arrest them and/or fine them if they say something that the government doesn't like? How does that benefit them? How would that make our lives any better? But it seems that a few more Americans have come their senses since 2002... http://news.monstersandcritics.com/northamerica/article_1024593.php/Poll_Support_for_First_Amendment_grows ...however, that still leaves 1/4 of our population willing to give up their rights so that the government can have their way. That's not all. (just to give credit where credit's do, I found out about this next story from the morning show) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4225013.stm]http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4225013.stm According to this, almost 20% of those kids said that we shouldn't be allowed to say anything but what most people agree with.
Why is it that in almost all anime's where there's a serious battle of good and evil that the bad guy always at some point has the upper hand, then the good guy says "you won't get away with this", then the bad guy says " oh, but i will", then the good guy gets a burst of energy and blows his butt to heaven?
Let's see... there's most major DBZ battles, the Yusuke/Togoro battle on Yu Yu Hakusho... and that's all that I can think of. That definitely does not classify as "most".
Why is it that every episode of Pokemon ends with To Be Continued... even if that episode had it's climax and the storyline for that episode won't continue?
Because the show will be continued in the next episode.
Why is it that every time a bad guy has his enemy (the good guy) in custody that he doesn't just kill him but instead gives him time to make his escape?
Why would they put them in custody if they just wanted to kill them?
Why is it that the cat in Trigun has such a big head and a way of always moving around from town to town so fast?
Because he's a "mascot". And a crappy one at that, when compared to the greatness of PenPen, Kilala. and Ryo-Ohki.
Why is it that the good guy almost always seems to win?
Because the writer likes the good guy more than the bad guy.
Why is it that Edward Elric is so short?
He didn't drink his milk.
Why is it that almost every main character of an action anime has to have gravity defying hair and fashion statements that cost $100s if there just going to get ripped in the next fight anyway?
Most anime characters wear $100 suits? Also, a lot of anime characters either have clothes with special micromachines that'll fix their torn clothes overnight or clothes made out of a mysterious untearable material.
Why is it that Vash's yellow glasses can get broken but he gets a new pair easily with his low budget when here a pair of those glasses cost $100+?
Those micromachines come with glasses too.
Why is it in almost every action anime the villan's always cocky and his/her laugh sucks?
The cockiness is supposed to make you hate them more. The laugh supposed to make them seem more psychotic.
Why is it that anger is symbolized with four corner put together to make a cross and not just a red face or something more simple?
Have you ever seen where people get really angry, and they start screaming, and their veins start popping out? That's why.
Why is it that all these questions are completely pointless yet someone is bound to end up answering a few of them?
Bordom.

I'm pretty sure that I followed a link from someone on the Adult Swim message boards that took me to theotaku. One day I got bored so I decided to see if theotaku had a forum, and sure enough, it did.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if this is you talking or this Kent guy, but....
The valley before us is a real valley. The dodgeball is real. What we see, though, is not necessarily the valley. What we beleve we see is the valley. What we actually experience is the image of the valley created by light reflections and our mind processing what our eyes take in. The original valley does not enter our head.
Seeing means recieving the light's reflection and having our translate it into an "image". So, since the light is reflecting off of and showing us the valley, we do see the valley.
What hits us, is the dodgeball. What we believe, is that we feel the dodgeball. What we actually experience is the ball stimulating our nerves, sending messages to our brain. Our brains tell us that we feel pain. Our brains tell us that a rubbery substance is smacking us upside the head. Or if it's not fast enough, our brain will not tell us much before being knocked out. If we're knocked out, our brains tell us nothing, hence blacking out.
And feeling refers to what? It refers to our nerves sending our brain signals and our brain translating it. So yes, we do actually feel the dodgeball. If our brain is fast enough.

While Rei does have an interesting story surrounding her, she isnt' particularly intersting herself. "Who am I? I am myself. I am the entity called Rei." "Ikari." There, I just summed up just about everything that Rei says throughout the series. That does not qualify as interesting in my book. She does give a small speech about what's going on in the movie, but then, she wasn't just herself at that point. That being said, go Sango!

The original Digimon World! (don't waste your time with DW 2 or 3 though... those games sucked hard) That game is still one of my favorites. Think Tamagachi, except your tamagachi is actually a digimon that you train to fight other digimon. The digimon have "lost heart" and wondered away from the digimon city. Its up to you to bring them back. The cool thing is that as you bring each digimon back, they add something to the city. The first ones that do a certain job will usually add in a new building too. Like Greymon, who will probably the first one able to run the arena, will add in the arena building to the lower right side of the city. Also, some of the digimon will do special stuff to the city, like Elektmon will add lighting after dark.

I just watched the first DVD of Rah Xephon. Some notes (I seem to have made a habbit out of doing this): -Why do so many creators of mecha anime feel the need to have a teenager that overreacts to everything as the protagonist? :faint: ENOUGH WITH THE SCREAMING DAMMIT!!!!!! -Mu. Moooooo! Why the hell would they name their organization after the sound that a cow makes? -Is it wrong that I want to see very, very bad things happen to the criptic pink haired chick? Characters like her annoy me to no end. -The guys that drew the manga were right to give the characters somewhat of a make-over, looks wise. The art isn't bad, but the way that the characters are drawn kind of gets on my nerves. -(Now that I've got the negative stuff out of the way) Ayato >>>>> Shinji! Its nice to see a main character of a "living robot" (for lack of a better way of putting it) mecha anime with some attitude. I like this guy so far... except for when he's screaming. -Haruka kind of reminds of Misato so far. Friend to the main character in an otherwise hostile and unfamiliar environment; and capable, yet also goofy at times. -Blue blood is supposed to represent purity and/or aristocracy. When you call someone a "blue blood", you're saying that they have high standing in a royal court. This probably isn't related, but I thought that it might be an interesting thing to mention. Not bad. It isn't like Elfen Lied, where I'm biting at the bit for the next episode and feel the need to go out and buy the DVD some time within the next week, but I've got a good feeling about it. It looks like its going revolve a lot around detailed character developement and the relationships between those characters, and those shows are usually the best. I've already added the next volume to my Netflix queue.

Anime Subs (Japanese voices with subtitles) or Dubs (English voices)?
Bloodseeker replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
I agree. That's like judging anime itself on a few Pokemon episodes that you saw. You're looking at the bottom of the barrel. Go watch the Cowboy Bebop or Berserk dubs. (The Berserk dub completely destroys the original track!) That might change your view. -
Gaming How do you prefer racing games: realistic or wacky?
Bloodseeker replied to BlueYoshi's topic in Noosphere
Not so much wacky, but I prefer racing games that don't try to be driving simulators. I especially like Burnout! That's the only game where wrecking is actually fun! Gran Turismo can feel a bit like a chore at times, especially when you're trying to build up money to get a good car at the beginning of the game. I got very tired of redoing the Sunday Cup while I was trying to build up to a hundred thousand dollars for a decent car. And don't get me started on getting gold on the licences. That's a pain. -
Mechanical orgasm girl vs. the pink-haired mad scientist! My only rule is to not spam up these threads. Don't just post the character that you voted for's name. If you're going to say who you voted for, then explain why you voted for who you voted for, even if that explanation is just quoting someone that shares your sentiments. It doesn't need to be complicated. Even something as simple as "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot more spunk than Rei" or "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot of spunk" will work. So long as it has more substance than "Asuka" or "Asuka's better", its fine. I think that Washu will win. Winry lost a fanboys when episode 26 rolled around. Washu's still fairly popular. Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist) (More cosplayers, dammit! Stay out of my google searches!) vs. Washu (Tenchi) I like Winry... but she's just one of those characters that I unexplainably like. Wish I had more to say on the matter, but I really don't. Washu's easily the funniest character on Tenchi Muyo. Where as the jokes from most of the characters are really hit or miss, almost all of the jokes from Washu crack me up! She's just so random... I didn't have a whole lot say here, did I? Sorry. Anyways, I guess that I'll give my vote to Winry, because I unexplainably like her more than I like Washu. I've got to give Winry the edge on looks too. She's too cute! Washu on the other hand... meh.

Demon Slayer vs. Angel Slayer! Its time for match 5! Who's going to win? I'm going to have to say Sango. She has a lot of fanboys around the net, probably more than any other Cartoon Network anime character, and it looks like a good amount have found their way here. Further more, R1 M10 made it clear that not everybody here likes Rei. Sango (Inuyasha) (I'm getting tired of seeing these fat, sweaty, acne covered dweebs ruin my favorite anime characters with their crappy cosplaying! I think that I'll just have to attend the next anime convention in my area with a tazer and have myself some fun. Trashbag-totting nerds, watch out!) vs. Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion) Sango's my favorite Inuyasha character. Why? For starters, she doesn't have any special abilities. She manages to be just as effective as the rest of the group with just her boomerang, and sometimes her sword or poison. That giant boomerang is a plus too. Cool weapon. She's also the strong level-headed type, the only time that she looses her head is when Kohaku is involved. And who can blame her? I'd want my brother back safetly too. Rei's probably the most overrated anime character out there. She's Evangelion's resident enigmatic chick. She's always quietly sitting in the background, philosophising and taking, and not really doing anything else. She's interesting at first, but as time went on and still nothing happened with her character in term of revelations or even character developement, I stopped caring. Eventually she stops being mysterious and starts being boring. Her Evangelion, Unit 00, is also the worst of the three. Did I mention her intense look isn't anywhere near as scary as Asuka's? That look wouldn't make even the most skittish person jump. On the plus side though, she is intersting (and cool) towards the end, and she's also the most graceful character on the show. She's just nowhere near as awesome as the fanboys would have you believe. There may not be as much to be said about Sango, but I still like her more. She gets my vote. Eh... they're about equal on looks. Maybe Rei looks a bit better, because of the red eyes. But then again, I always got annoyed whenever they showed the back fo Rei's head. That hair annoys me. Yeah, they're equal.

How do you generally prefer to watch your anime? With the original Japanese voices, or with the English dub overs? I perfer to watch mine in English, unless the dub is downright abysmal. (i.e. Crest of the Stars and Record of Lodoss War) I like to focus on the action, and that's not always easy to do with subs when there's fast talking and/or fighting and talking going on at the same time. Sub-snobs (people that refuse to watch dubs or think that the dub's voices should identical the sub's) don't give modern English dubs enough credit. Sure most early dubs sucked to the point where I had to cringe at at least one line every few episodes, but a good 90% of the dubs that I've seen that were from the past 5 years or so have been convincingly done, and about 10% of them have been nothing short of great.

Anime Times that you've rooted for the "bad guy"?
Bloodseeker replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
YES! Finally someone that agrees with me about Kagome/Kikyo. Everyone always tells me, "Oh, Kikyo is such a biatch, she's trying to steal InuYasha from Kagome and blah blah..." Okay, 1.) Kikyo had InuYasha first, so technically, Kagome is trying to steal InuYasha from Kikyo. 2.) Kikyo, may I remind you people, is the original, and nothing gets better than that. And besides that, I just hate Kagome, and I love Kikyo. Quite simple, really. XD
They both suck. Inuyasha should ditch the luggage and windscar the dead b*tch and find himself someone cool. Maybe he could steal Sango away from Miroku? The two seem close enough... -
I'm homeschooled so sadly no yearbook for me :animecry:
Same here, but I couldn't care less. I hated about 80% of the people at my old school.

Anime Times that you've rooted for the "bad guy"?
Bloodseeker replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
I also wanted Kei-kun to go out with Miaka from Marmalade Boy instead of Yuu. But thats just because he can play the piano and that's hot. What? I like a guy who's musically talented. But you can't always win. Keep trying villans, keep trying.
If we're going to start counting that sort of stuff, I've always rooted for Tina over Aoi in Ai Yori Aoshi. Another case of spunky vs. quiet and reserved, and I usually side with the spunky one. There were also points where I wanted Motoko to get Keitaro in Love Hina. (though I generally sided with Naru) -
I'm just going to restate the obvious and say that with something like music, you'll aprecciate it or you won't, and no amount of explaining is going to change your tastes. I hate classical orchestra music. I've given it a chance, listened to the best of the genre, and decided that I hated it. When it was explained to me that one of my favorite music genres, heavy metal, is deeply rooted in classical orchestra music, it still didn't change the fact that classical music never fails to give me a headache. Likewise, I'm sure that if I explained Rammstein's talent to a hater of hard rock, it wouldn't change a thing. It'll be the same with J-Pop, or J-Rock. If you really hate the stuff, people aren't going to be able to talk you into liking it. The only thing that I can say is that if you really want to bring yourself to like it, stop paying so much attention to the lyrics and start paying more attention to the sound.

Can anyone say "technicalities"? On the boat, it doesn't really matter if you can see the lighthouse as long as you can see the light. Its the same here. It doesn't matter if we can see what's giving off the signals. We can still see the signals, and we at least have an idea as to what gives those signals off. And we obviously percieve them well enough, because as far as we can tell, we're the dominate species on this planet. Of course, new doors will open once we understand how to fully manipulate energy and matter, and percieving is the first step to solving any puzzle, but the kind of philosophising that the posted article had is pretty useless and just restates what everybody already knows.
Wow, seems like there's no contest here. Asuka 14, Lina 0. No love for poor Lina!
You voted against her, too. Yeah, this is easily the most one-sided match yet. Lina will probably get an underdog vote or two before this over, but I would be very surprised (and even more disappointed) if she actually ended up winning..
