I'm both an artist and author I guess lol. I like to draw, although it's not amazing, over the years I've gotten better. I draw manga / anime a lot simply because it's come natural and I enjoy it. You can call tons of shows 'anime' but the drawing style is different in every one. There's always more to learn and different ways to expand your knowledge of japanese art. I sometimes draw realistic things, scenery, people, whatever. I've found this to be pretty tough though, and it's hard to really grasp a certain technique, since everything is so different from drawing to drawing. I also love to write, probably more so then draw. Although my writing isn't fantastic or anything, it gives me an outlet for my emotions and something creative to do with my free time. I write about lots of things, and even if it isn't the greatest, it's for me, and that's it. I let people read my stuff but in the end all that matters is whether or not I'm happy with it. I post some of my stuff at Anthology, link is in my sig :p

When I first got a computer I was enthralled and amazed with everything, not simply the internet. When I first started using it, the basis was for video games. I was really into a lot of games, but I later realized that's not all the internet was good for. I used it to talk to my friends, send e-mail, look up information, anything. It's a lot easier to find things on the internet then at the library *sigh*. At this point I really enjoy forums, such as this one. I like meeting new people and expanding my mind. I'm far from perfect, and there's so many things I know nothing about, the internet helps a lot. I meet people from all walks of life, and although I don't have the money to travel anywhere I'd like, when I finally do there'll be plenty of people to visit lol.

Not Being Yourself? (maybe even to be good?)
Kamuro replied to AzureWolf's topic in General Discussion
Maybe I should get this book for the people I know, they act fake anyhow, so at least they'd be able to do it right. In this time of life (High School for me) people are very reckless and do things without considering the consequences and the people they'll hurt in the process. It's all about them, pleasing themselves and getting what they want. Girls seem to do it more then guys, from my own experience. Guys can be pretty harsh too, but girls are very callous and when it comes to a boyfriend or a guy they're interested in, things can get really bad. A lot of younger people are fake simply because they want to fit in. High School is all about being accepted. Everyone wants to be a part of something, they want to feel loved and needed, but it so often isn't the case. Someone you think you know can simply be a front designed for you to like, rather then the actual person. And when things become personal, the real person shines through and it isn't always pretty. All I can say is stay true to yourself. Even if everyone around you is fake, at the end of the day you'll be able to sleep and have pride in the fact that although you're not perfect, you don't have to be. You are your own person, and instead of changing to 'fit in' you take pride in the fact that you don't. And truly, none of us do. -
I think people try to change the meaning of hardcore, but it always stays the same, and they don't match-up. Wearing girl pants and calling yourself hardcore doesn't make it so, it just shows a person trying hard to fit in or be something they're not. And this is the exact opposite of hardcore, however you decide to look at it. It's about being original, something special, the music is revolutionary and if you're simply following a trend then there's nothing hardcore about it. Whatever image people have in their minds of a hardcore stereotype, they don't really matter, the meaning stays the same. Just because people believe it to be true doesn't make it so, and they can label and act all they want, but it just gives them false comfort. Everyone wants to be a part of something, wants to feel important, but hardcore isn't a trend, and it isn't a group of people, it's music.

I don't really like Evanescence *shrugs* So what if they're classified as 'Goth' music, it basically is lol. I think Amy Lee is a talented singer but her vocals always sound the same, it gets very tedious. She has consistency, she just doesn't have much variety. I don't mind the band and there's certain songs that I do enjoy, but the majority just doesn't blow me away.

Sold out is merely a figure of speech, as people have said already it's not as if she needed the money. From my point of veiw she went from making alright, tolerable music, to make horrible music that no one should have to listen to without being paid in advance. It's not the people who like her, the way she looks, whatever, the music is just plain horrible. I couldn't really care less how she looks, for the most part she always looked 'different', the music sucks, period.

Name: Malik Gender: Male Race: Vampire Position: His Own Ability: All the classic vampire skills plus some other surprises. Appearance: Malik Personality: Malik is a stern, unforgiving man who takes the utmost pride in his vampiric heritage. In his earlier years he was a very different person, but he prefers to consider the present rather then past. Although he boasts a tough outer-shell, certain memories and feelings affect him greatly, and often skew his judgement. Even with such weaknesses, he is still the famed Vampire Lord and requires an amazing amount of respect from his lowers. He holds such great power and has gained access to most of it, yet his unbridled potential allows for excessive growth and increase in power. Character Snippets: Coming Soon, unless DC says otherwise.
Sssh! You'll ruin the internet male = metalhead stereotype!
you love it ;) lol I'm not partial to either of these bands, since Power Metal was never really big with me. But if I had to choose one, it'd be Sonata Arctica. Kamelot is alright, but it gets tedious. By the way, you might wanna try to go a little more mainstream. I'm not a fan of 'classic rock' like Ilium, but I doubt many people will know all the abstract metal bands lol.

Yeah, I was sad when the the other one went down... Killswitch Engage As much as I like both of these bands, if I had to choose one then it would be Killswitch. Sure, they have a lot of annoying fans and their popularity has increased immensely, but I still love them. Every album they put out is simply amazing, each song trumps the one before it and you can't help but listen to the music over and over again. I don't think I'd call them harder then As I Lay Dying, but I would call them better lol.

skyatyourfeet... We were referring more to the music then the 'hardcore' lifestyle. As with many other labels, 'hardcore' is meant to express music and certain styles unlike those from other genres, hence the creation of 'hardcore' lol. As far as the length of their career, that doesn't really mean anything to me. Whether they've been around 10 years or 10 minutes, it doesn't affect their genre placement and 'hardcore' status. Most of my favorite bands are more recent ones, the sound has evolved from older music and I believe it's better now then ever before. 'Girl pants' really don't have anything to do with hardcore music, and any other article of clothing that has a genre label, probably shouldn't. Generic... Sorry I forgot to comment on some of your music, missed it :animeswea Achilles - Hardcore / Metal / Souther Rock Favorite Album - The Dark Horse Favorite Songs - 1. Every Hour Wounds, The Last One Kills I havn't heard tons of stuff from this band but I do admire they're style. They keep to the hardcore basics as well as add in a few other things that make the music unique and a worthwhile listen. They're debut album wasn't all that bad, but I prefer "The Dark Horse." Yourcodenameis:milo - Hardcore / Screamo / Rock Favorite Album - Ignoto Favorite Songs - 1. 17 I actually hadn't heard about these guys until recently. They're a band from the UK so it was a little out of my reach lol. They're music isn't my favorite, but I still think it's good. They're becoming increasing popular, which is why I was surprised I hadn't heard of them for so long. A lot of you might have seen them on MTV2, since their video "17" has recently been added to the playlist. Converge - Hardcore / Metal / Punk Favorite Album - You Fail Me Favorite Songs - 1. Black Cloud I think this band has a lot of talent, from the music I heard I think they have a really good thing going. The vocals are always solid and the metal element is obvious in all their music. Although they tap on a lot of other genres they stay very true to hardcore at most, and that's what I like about them. Blood Brothers - Hardcore / Post Hardcore / Experimental Favorite Album - Crimes Favorite Songs - Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck Blood Brothers never were my favorite band, I don't hate them or anything, but I'm not a huge fan of the music. I prefer they're newer stuff as to the older, but either way I'm not all that enthusiastic about the band. Thats all I really felt I could comment on, the other bands I hadn't heard enough for or just didn't interest me. As far as techno or industrial type hardcore, I was never a big fan, so I doubt I'd be able to comment on those with being biased lol.

Name: Ashen Age: 25 Class / Job: Infiltration Expert / Assassin Weapon: A very lavished dagger, one you might find strange in the hands of a simple man such as himself. The blade is of a dark red color and has been refined and altered to the sharpest variety. The hilt branches outward and then down in front of his fingers. The handle is of the best known material and at it's very tip is a ruby, placed solely to match the tint of the blade. Appearance: Ashen Natural Abilities: Ashen is blessed with the ability to distribute his blood and brainpower to benefit whichever physical or mental attribute he chooses. An example - if the situation calls for speed he is able to focus his energy and place it all in his legs and arms allowing for quicker movement. Genetic Variation: Along with Ashen's new power and increased abilities, he has lost something very dear to him. Although he remains the same physically, he lost one of his most important senses, touch. Although he's able to hold things and use them as he chooses, his ability to transfer specific cells between body parts has left his physical senses scrambled and unable to process the interaction with objects. He doesn't feel pain, but he also can't feel the more sentimental things, a woman's touch, for example. Personality: Ashen isn't a bad person, but after merging with his counterpart and losing something so dear to him he's become much more reserved and independent. His previous job allowed him to 'act' as another and play whatever part the situation called for, or the army called for, on numerous occasions. It's hard for people to decipher his feelings and get to know the real Ashen, since he's so use to evolving his fallacies. Motivation: Ashen doesn't care much for the drama surrounding Helena, but he doesn't appreciate the situation he's been stuck with and is motivated to aquire all the answers to his questions. Character Snippet: I don't really have anything to write here, kill me later Archangel :p

Sasurai swung away recklessly, both swords drawn and clashing with those of the opposing force. The team was doing well, but there was just so many. Damn he thought to himself, feeling a blade quickly slice across his chest and disappear into the throng of oncoming soldiers. It was to much, fighting off swords and arrows at the same time, they had to get closer. "Make a path everyone!" he shouted, the two women were still near but Rafael was gone. Damn, where'd he go? Sasurai thought, his head swiveling back and forth as to confirm his disappearence. His teeth gritted violently, the endless battle was beginning to wear on him. A loud grunt could be heard as his feet pressed hard against the ground and he burst into the air, sending enemy bodies flying in all directions. The wind beat against his face and as he began to fall he noticed Rafael far in the distance, close to the castle. It seemed he killed quite an amount of enemy soldiers, but he was in trouble. I gotta save 'em his voice echoed, and as he returned to the ground the gold sword began to glow. It was just as he remembered, the 'Golden Dragon' was a symbol of good, and since his teammate was in danger it glowed a fierce yellow color. Without even thinking he thrust it forward, watching as flames erupted from it's tip and scorched a path directly to Rafael. And so he ran, following the path of cindered soldiers as he made his way towards the castle, eventually reaching Rafael. Again he jumped to the air, but this time as he returned to the ground he thrust his sword deep into the sand. Fire encircled them and made it's way outward in a glaring shockwave, allowing the two a short time to prepare. "What are you doing all the way up here by yourself?!" Sasurai shouted down at him. "There was to many, I thought if I took out the front of the castle we wouldn't be bothered by archers or gunman," Rafael spoke, catching his breath as he stumbled to his feet. "Thats not safe, you could've killed innocent prisoners or servants inside the castle, and if you blow it up then how are we supposed to use it for temporary headquarters?!" Sasurai shouted again, throwing a rough punch, returning him to his place on the ground. "Don't try anything so stupid again, now call back Giusto, you'll need your sword power," he spoke sternly. Rafael obliged and returned once again to his feet. "Now, I know you're not in the best condition, but you gotta help the girls get up here and into castle, we'll be able to make a stand there and use our strength and smarts to keep the distraction going," Sasurai ordered, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "What'll you do?" asked Rafael. "I'll take care of the castles frontal forces, the archers, gunman, whatever," and with that he turned to the group of soldiers approaching them. "Familiar Technique!" he shouted, raising both swords to the sky. Almost instantly the two-headed dragon from before fell to the ground, shaking the area as it's entireity nearly landed on top of them. "Hey big guy," Sasurai laughed a bit, "help Rafael, do what he says as long as you can." So he entered the castle, it was oddly quiet, the majority of the forces had already left and fought on the front grounds where the rest of the team had been. He walked several stairways until he reached a long balcony, the one cluttered with archers. He took a deep breath, and then burst around the corner, dismembering his first two opponents instantly. He made his way down the line, killing each soldier in the way. Arrows were basically useless at such close range, and they all made easy kills even without his sword power. When he reached the end he looked over the side and saw Team 2 far in the distance, making their way to the back of the castle. Good, they're almost here. OOC: Nice job guys, we're nearly ready to enter the castle and take it as our own.

Well, this time around I've decided to combine the song and poem categories since they're so similar when written anyway. I also added a "Prose" category, hopyou guys like it. Thanks to everyone who has read my work so far, even if you havn't posted it's really appreciated. Hopefully you'll enjoy these next few. Poems "Hold" Hold me close As if you thought I'd be gone by morning No longer present to return the affection Lungs having failed and blood struck still Glazed eyes witness your departure Hold him close My fair representation A mere illusion of what was once held Again you'll be left with nothing of substance Doomed to a life with hope once removed Hold it close Steel barrel pressed against your temple Finger convulsing, the trigger in reach Your mind pleading mercy And your heart screamed salvation Hold her close Mother's arms embracing a dampened body "Why?" - escaping the most brittle of lips An innocent girl - tainted the brightest of red Finding solace, and an overdue warmth "Worst Seat in the House" How can I expect to cope? With a pain so great, and little hope And how can I expect to live? No motivation, no love to give And how can I expect to smile? Eyes sewn shut, nothing worthwhile And how can I expect to love? When instead of here, you watch from above "Unspoken Love" You're the girl I've known forever And I'm the boy who's loved you as long Looking up from below your window And hoping maybe, you'll pass by You're the girl who's grown so fast And I'm the boy who's left behind Admiring all that you've become And wishing someday, I'll compare You're the girl with all the friends And I'm the boy who's become out of touch Spending each minute planning impression No longer expecting your second glance You're the girl who broke my heart And I'm the boy who bears it's cross Nearly gone from all the weight And hoping maybe, you'll come save me You're the girl who's lost all hope And I'm the boy who's long since passed Never knowing how you felt And missing out on unspoken love "Happy Endings" I'm wondering if you're finished Can I take the knife from my back? Made it's way through, and my heart a casualty Does this mean nothing, the years wash away The burden of time returning with vengeance I'm wondering if it's finished Can I loosen the rope from around my neck? Skin's crimson halo, and my breath a casualty Couldn't you see as I was choking? Or were you blinded from the flak You're wondering if I'm finished Can't you let go of the trigger's allure? A trembling finger, and my life a casualty No longer expected to blindly endure Only to lie, forever still I'm finished - - - Quotes - "This hate has nothing to do with you, I hate myself. For letting it get this far, once again. I could have prevented this harm, but living in sin, keeps us warm." - "I can't make this deal with the devil because I know, he's on your side." - "Sitting and waiting for you to show your face again, wondering which mask you put on for me today" - "I'll pretend I don't know you're there ,I'll just wait for you to say hello." - "So to hell with heaven, you're here for now and that's all I need." - - - Prose Prose is what I call some works that aren't in poetry format or structure. They don't have to have rhythm but sometimes do. The following story is actually true, for more details just ask, but other then hope you enjoy. "Tonight's the Night" The night was young and so was I. Sitting solemn and watching as the dimly lit sun faded into the ground. There was other places I wanted to be, but right now the best I could do was hope for the best. The tree's silhouettes shown brightly through, the night sky cluttered with blackened images. And soon another emerged. But what was it, a girl? No, a woman, the most beautiful I'd ever seen. Her hair was braided, delicately flowing down her back as she ran towards me, doing her best to hold up her dress from the dampened grass below. As she approached I found it hard to question the arrival. And so I stood, slack-jawed and trying my best not to stare. "Hey" she said, her smile providing more warmth then the setting sun ever had. And as much as I wanted to reply, my lips were unable, and my legs trembled violently. "W-What about homecoming?" I stuttered quietly. All she did was shake her head, walk towards me, and take a seat upon the same wooden stair. It seemed like forever as we talked, and it seemed like the party was nothing without me. I was struck dumb that she'd find me here, sitting alone and thinking of her. And as we went silent I rose from the seat, flicking on the radio and turning to her as a slow song began to play. Our eyes met and the air left my lungs. She was always was the only one who could leave me breathless. And so she stood, her hand placed in mine as my nervous fingers found their way to her waste. And we danced, just another silhouette in the evening. - - - Thats all for now guys, tell me what you think.

Everyone has stated that stationary consoles are far superior, even myself. However so many advances have already been made in the portable gaming world, could you imagine those responsible for stationary games dedicating some, if not all of their time to creating their games in a smaller format? RPG's are a perfect example since graphics aren't always the most important point to consider. CG scenes are being added, drawn "anime-like" movies are accompanying the solid gameplay, and endeavors such as "Generation of Chaos" for the PSP rival some of the less advanced RPG's on the PS2 (Ys: The Ark of Naphistim, for example). I really don't see the problem with "squinting at a screen," as some might put it. The DS and PSP, being the more advanced hand-held systems, offer crisp and clear gaming. The screens are LCD and earlier problems concerning them are basically mute as of now. Sure, it's of a smaller variety, but none of you can say you havn't gotten a headache from playing PS2 for an extended amount of time. It's just the same with the hand-held, playing a lot will be a burden on the eyes, it's nothing new. Sound is a minor issue in my opinion. Aside from voice-overs I doubt the repetative techno beats found in an overwhelming amount of PS2 games is necessary. And there are so many advantages to the mobile consoles. I remember being in the car for hours and wishing I had something truly entertaining, and now with all these hand-held advancements I can invest myself just as much in a DS as I could in a PS2. Batteries aren't even a concern anymore, the DS, for example, offers at least 6 hours of play per charge, and if you exceed that, then it's time to take a break anyway lol. Sure, MMORPGs are on a much smaller scale, but can you play them anywhere you like? No, you're confined to a computer and a certain place to sit and play endlessly. Trust me, even the most comfortable chairs take a toll on the back after awhile. Maybe mobile systems will never reach the same level as stationary one's, but I really do believe they could come close. With all these advances in technology, mobile MMORPGs are only a matter of time. And on the subject of lag, it's just as present within a computer or any other system used for online gaming. Unless your equipment is the best out there a large scale MMORPG is bound to lag, it happens. And on the point of a PSP, it not only offers gaming, but also music, pictures, movies, gaming, anything you desire, not only making gaming mobile, but anything you want. Compare it to an XBOX, graphics wise it's nowhere near, but it makes up the ground in the tons of other things it does. So I think to myself, which would I prefer? By the way, here are some "Generation of Chaos" screenshots, try not to let your jaw hit the floor to hard ;) . http://media.psp.ign.com/media/696/696072/imgs_1.html

I wouldn't mind the idea actually. There is already an event in place but who says it has to be an event? I know that was doukeshi's intent but if you really wanted to start a writing "tournament" you could simply do it at Anthology. Just as graphic battles have been held at the Art forum, people take things into their own hands and begin the compeition themselves. It doesn't have to be an event to be a good idea lol.

Writing Style: The first poem is a unique one since it introduces and concludes itself seperately. I like this idea though, since it gives you a little background on the poem itself and your thought process concerning it's creation. The second work resembles a song and maybe that was your intention? Words in brackets are usually spoken softer then those of the song or at the same time by a different person. I'm not sure if thats what you had in mind when you wrote it, but maybe it means something. The third work has the classic poem feel and it's a welcome feel after the first two unique structures. All three flow well for the most part and their structure, however abstract they may be, works well in this particular situation. Felt Compelled: Most of your work seems to be about love and in some situations lack there of, and this poem is no exception. Although it's almost a morbid feeling of love you say yourself that all would kill for it and endlessly search for it, discarding the chance that it might not work out, which is true. No matter how much pain we endure, it's about getting up, brushing yourself off, and continuing on. Love has obviously taken it's toll on you and a lot of the time has left you with baggage you didn't want. You've been expected to bare a cross that you didn't deserve, and become a martyr for the other's happiness. Giving It Away: I was pretty surprised at this writing, since it's very blatant and cluttered with passionate emotion. There's so many things you could be "giving away" it's hard to choose just one. Virginity is something that comes to mind, but it's obviously something more then that. The physical interaction is represented, but the mental connection is there also. You're not only giving your body to the counterpart, but your heart as well. However it seems like the other entity in the poem took your both, and ravaged them equally. Having his way with your body and tossing your heart aside. And even after coming to this realization you've already fallen in love and are left with a lacking body and mind, but a love as strong as ever. The Obsession: This work has a classic poem feel and relates to love just as strong as the others. Perhaps this one was mutual but even so it seems to be slipping away and leaving you alone once again. It's a terrible feeling, being alone, with nothing to do but analyze your own insufficiencies. And no matter how far you seem to distance yourself from this loved one, when you see him you fall in love all over again. Whether mad, sad, confused, the emotions go away and all your left with is that familiar feeling of longing to be held. Conclusion: It's hard to draw a clear conclusion since each work was so different and exemplified different styles of writing. Although there isn't a consistent structure, the passion is always there. I think your poems offer something we can all relate to. Whether or not there's a defined structure doesn't matter, you can find your own rhythm while reading and make each work your own. I think you have a knack for writing and unbridled potential in the area. Nice work.
-
Writing Style: Your style is very different from anything I've seen before. You havn't offered any structure for the writing so it's hard to find a rhythm, yet it still seems flow well in a majority of places. I like the idea of having a moral to the writing, or a certain overwhelming idea. I think there's definitely something behind each writing but it does offer some space for individual thought. Of course religion is represented in both works you've written, which most know isn't my area of expertise lol. I did enjoy it, however. XXIII: I love the waltz idea since dancing is often a great way to express emotions. Not only are you close to someone physically, but dancing offers a close physical interaction as well. Dancing towards the hellfire can be interpreted in many different ways. I'm not sure of what you were going for but I'm pretty sure the poem represents a certain kind of relationship. You seem to be focused more on the men then the women. As if the men are leading the women along blindly to their death without knowing any better. The acquisition of a romantic tune almost acts as an excuse for this. I: This song expresses a lot of things, change being the first that comes to mind. Although there aren't solid physical representations of both, it's clear to me that beliefs from the past are very different then our beliefs now. What use to be utter faith and dedication is plagued by hypocrisy and righteousness. It's hard to dedicate yourself to a supposed perfect being having become so flawed yourself. I get the feeling of "sin" when I read this work and it has heavy religious ideals and exemplaries. I enjoyed this one a bit more then the first. Conclusion: I think you have a unique style of writing and a lot of talent in this area. Although they lack structure and some writing basics, they show passion and utter dedication to their subject as well writing in general. Keep it up.

I like this idea, of course my poems will probably suck lol. "Come Sit With Me" Sitting alone, lackluster and mild Wondering if you're thinking of me And wondering if your world's still grey Black and white combined and distorted You and I, seperate and self-loathing Maybe one day you'll come sit with me

Lately I've seen more emphasis on RPG's for GBA/DS and PSP more then the stationary consoles lol. Perhaps part of the industry has been investing it's time in games for the new consoles (PS3, XBOX 360, etc.) but it seems to be lacking in the RPG area as of late. Games such as "Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones" have become increasingly popular and everything I've read about it has been good for the most part. It's gotten better reveiws then most of the PS2 games I've seen out as of late so it gets me wondering whether the future of gaming is geared more towards stationary consoles or mobile ones? Sure there's a lot of advantages to the PS2, but there's just as many to the PSP. I've seen lots of threads comparing the DS and PSP, but maybe there should be one comparing the PS2 and the PSP? Graphics on mobile systems are a big issue, but if you own a PSP then you know that this problem is becoming an increasingly mute issue. Technology is advancing and some of the games we've only known as PS2 or XBOX are being transformed into a smaller version offering just as much playability and entertainment. Even online games are becoming disputable. With new mobile internet capabilities even large scale online games can be played on a hand-held console. The possibilities are endless and I'm starting to think to much is being invested into stationary systems. What do you guys think?
A European study found a majority of parents are aware of video game ratings, but "divorce themselves" from deciding what their children play, even though the parents don't like what games they buy. Great to know hypocrisy rules the angry mob.
Just more evidence against the parents and their lack of participation vs. their excess of complaints. A lot of parents would rather say "wow, these games or bad" and complain about them publically then simply make sure their child doesn't play them. Maybe GTA wouldn't need an AO rating if parents were actually present in their childrens lives and told them whether or not the game was appropriate. Instead of publically cracking down ratings, maybe we should publically crack down on parents.

I'm not against downloading personally. I know few people who decide to download a band's entire CD and simply listen to it on the computer. I have hundreds of songs downloaded myself, but the most for a certain band is only around 10 songs, and only in special cases. Sometimes I'm unable to find a CD so I download the music, sometimes I want to hear the band before I go out and buy the CD, so I download it. Sometimes I hear one song I like, but don't want to invest my money in a CD containing only one attractive song, so I download a couple others. No matter the reason, you'll see that all the motives for my own downloading is based on the CD itself. If I enjoy the band then I go out and purchase the CD. Several programs offer an alternative to free downloading and provide a certain songs for a certain amount of money per download. This leads to the whole iPod craze and the creation of mobile music. If musicians are so against the downloading of music then why have few if any protested the iPod? Which doesn't discriminate between free programs or programs you have to pay for to aquire the music? Whether it's legal or not people will do it as long as they can, and no matter how many news reports they do on "we're catching people who download music, so don't do it!" people continue to do so. It would be impossible for them to track down each and every person involved with the downloading of music and a lot of the programs actually have protection for this very purpose. So it doesn't matter if you like it or not really, it's gonna happen.
I like the Used, just because. I like some of their songs and I mooched In Love And Death (edited) off a friend because I liked Take It Away. I don't consider them pop at all, just because a band might be a little well-known doesn't mean they're pop. Mainstream rock is probably the best title for their genre.[/size']
They're definitely a Pop Rock band. Even barring the fact that they're so popular wouldn't make a difference. The vocals are high and whiny, the beats are catchy and meant to stick in your head and the lyrics were practically written to be repeated over and over again lol. Just because the band has a slightly more docile feel then bands such as Relient K or the Click Five doesn't mean it isn't essentially pop music. I'm not a fan of the band myself. Infact I've grown to dislike them a lot lol. The sad thing is it has nothing to do with their popularity, it makes no difference to me. I just don't like the music. Bert is so dramatic and the lyrics are overdone. No matter what song you listen to you just feel like it's been done before. Even in their best songs you can't help but get annoyed a minute or so in and change to something else.

I love music, but I'm definitely not a nexpert of genre classification lol. Jake is the man concerning this subject. My genres typically show as hardcore, metal, death metal, metalcore, acoustic, and rock. These are pretty general categories since (as you said) I'm sure someone with extensive knowledge of genres could provide me with a lot more then those few lol.

Wow, a lot to comment on for me lol. Thanks to RiflesAtRecess for adding to the list and here are my thoughts on the bands he listed. Advent - Hardcore / Metal Favorite Album - N/A Favorite Songs - N/A This band isn't bad actually. I havn't heard tons of their stuff like I have the others but I am really interested in what they might come up with in the future. Although I'm not a huge fan at the moment, I think they have a lot of potential, especially in Hardcore. Beloved - Hardcore / Metal / Emo Favorite Album - Failure: On Favorite Songs - 1. Failure On My Lips I like this band a lot. I havn't known of them for all that long but I've become a fan since the first time I heard them. It was hard to pick a favorite song since I like a lot of them equally and I'm pretty impressed with all of them. They don't seem to be all that popular though, which surprises me since they have all the essential hardcore elements for a great band. Between the Buried and Me - Hardcore / Metal Favorite Album - The Silent Circus Favorite Songs - 1. Mordecai I'm not a big fan of this band because the playing is so abstract it's hard to get a feel of what they're all about. This is a classic example of the bands that Jake doesn't like. The playing is all over the place and the breakdowns are really extreme. In Mordecai, for example, they go from a completely metal rift to a slow ballad. It's hard to find a groove while listening to the music. Circle Takes the Square - Hardcore/ Grindcore / Emo Favorite Album - As the Roots Undo Favorite Songs - 1. Kill the Switch I can't say I've heard much from this band. A song here and there but I wouldn't feel right giving a detailed description on a band that has a lot more to offer then simply what I've listened to. But from what I have heard it's more organized then Between the Buried and Me and it offers a solid hardcore element. I can't say for sure whether or not I'll become a longterm fan of the band they do appeal to me. He is Legend - Hardcore / Southern Rock Favorite Album - I Am Hollywood Favorite Songs - 1. I Am Hollywood This band adds the Southern Rock element to the previous hardcore antics. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Souther Rock genre, but I think it works out pretty well here. I like both albums a lot and I had trouble choosing just one, but I think "I Am Hollywood" offers a little more listening wise to the average He Is Legend fan. I think this band is kind of an aquired taste, and isn't for everyone. School For Heroes - Hardcore / Post Hardcore / Rock Favorite Album - Listen Favorite Songs - 1. Royalty I havn't heard much at all from this band, so it's hard to get a feel for their talent. As Rifles said it's a bit of a stretch to consider them a great hardcore band. From what I heard I probably wouldn't classify them under the same category as the bands I've commented on so far. They're not near as good as the other bands we've talked about. Swift - Hardcore / Metal / Emo Favorite Album - The Absolute Uncontrollable Favorite Songs - 1. The Guatemalan Swift has gone through a lot of changes since they first began so I sort of feel like commenting on two seperate bands lol. I liked the older stuff personally, Thoughts Are Thought was a pretty impressive album for a first endeavor. However as the band grew and they aquired some new talent the music has become even better. Their latest stuff has really impressed me and exceeded my expectations of the band. They went in a direction I wasn't really expecting yet they do it well and I must say I enjoy the music a lot. Well, now for Jake... Stutterfly does resemble Screamo a lot in their music, but in a lot of their songs hardcore plays a big part in the creation of the melody and lyrics. You can listen and notice the changes in rifts and base lines and tell that they're not bound to one genre or another. Throwdown - Hardcore / Metal Favorite Album - Vendetta Favorite Songs - 1. Burn 2. You Can't Kill Integrity I enjoy this band a lot actually. As you said they have a of metal in them so it's hard to really classify them as hardcore and be done with it. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals but I think the music is solid and I see they've aquired quite the fanbase over a short time. I think if you're more interested in metal then this is a band for you. Since instead of being hardcore and combining some metal elements, they're metal and combine some hardcore elements lol. Walls of Jericho - Hardcore Favorite Album - All Hail the Dead Favorite Songs - 1. There's No I In **** You This band is pure hardcore and I didn't even feel the need to include another genre since none even comes close. I like this band a lot and they've proven to be one of the most popular hardcore bands around. Even if you don't enjoy the music I think they deserve a lot of respect for really exuding the hardcore genre in all their music. They're really a hell of a band and deserve a chance if this is the genre you're into. And now for are i... I tried to keep from listing the stereotypical, already popular hardcore bands, Atreyu being one of them. It's easy to catch a listen to these guys, but I think some of the less known bands deserve their time in the spotlight. But I figure I'll list my favorite mainstream hardcore anyhow. Killswitch Engage - Hardcore / Metal Favorite Album - Alive or Just Breathing... Favorite Songs - 1. Rise Inside 2. Numbered Days I fell in love with this band after hearing them for the first time, a long time ago lol. All their music is simply fantastic. Their old cd "Alive Or Just Breathing..." is my favorite but don't discount their newer album "The End of Heartache." Both offer some of the best hardcore music you can find. Solid recording, amazing vocals, this band has it all. Definitely give them a listen It Dies Today - Hardcore / Metal / Rock Favorite Album - The Caitiff Choir Favorite Songs - 1. Marigold 2. Freak Gasoline Fight Accident This is a band I could see Jake liking lol. It Dies today produces amazing music and I really feel a lot of the time they don't get the credit they deserve. Their first album, "Forever Scourned," was a lot harder then the more recent one, but still amazing music. "The Caitiff Choir," includes a lot more of the hardcore element. Every song is solid and it's hard to find mistakes or things they should've done differently to the album. It's near perfect. Atreyu - Hardcore / Metal / Metalcore Favorite Album - Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses Favorite Songs - 1. Deanne the Arsonist 2. Someone's Standing On My Chest There has been a lot of talk about Atreyu here and I must comment since they are my favorite band lol. Jake has this pre-existing idea that all hardcore is insane and off-balance, which isn't true. My favorite hardcore bands are just the opposite, offering great melodies as well as the original hardcore essentials. Atreyu is a perfect example. The music is amazing and some of it is as hard as ever, but they still offer a solid melody and keep with a beat. You'll see me endorsing "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses" a lot since it is my favorite album, but don't discount "The Curse" just yet. It's different the album before it but it still offers amazing music. It's more crisp and clean, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion. It lacks the true passion of the previous albums but is still another fantastic Atreyu creation. Norma Jean - Hardcore / Metal / Metalcore Favorite Album - Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child Favorite Songs - 1. Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste 2. The Human Face Divine Norma Jean's older music is a lot better then the recent in my opinion. "O' God the Aftermath" didn't impress me at all. Maybe I had high hopes but it was really lacking in passion. But don't judge the band on this album alone. "Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child" was an amazing CD with some of the best breakdowns I've ever heard. The music is utterly fantastic and you can't help but fall in love with them after hearing this album. Poison the Well - Hardcore Favorite Album - The Opposite of December Favorite Songs - 1. Artists Rendering of Me 2. A Wish for Wings that Work Poison the Well is an amazing band. Both "The Opposite of December" and "You Come Before You" are amazing CD's. The vocals are so raw and the passion is always there. Between albums the sound is always tweaked a bit, offering something different each time yet still containing the same amazing music. I urge all of you to check them out if you get the chance, you won't be disappointed. Avenged Sevenfold - Hardcore / Metal / Punk Favorite Album - Waking the Fallen Favorite Songs - 1. Chapter Four 2. Unholy Confessions Avenged Sevenfold is a really popular band and I guess I can see why. Personally I'm not a huge fan, but I think they have solid music. They're going in a softer direction and the music isn't as gritty as it was before. Listening to "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" and their new CD makes them hard to even compare. I don't think they're near as good as Atreyu, but I have heard some make the comparison. Here are some other bands you guys might like... The Agony Scene Thursday Darkest Hour Scars of Tomorrow Unearth Symphony In Peril Eighteen Visions Between Home and Serenity Showbread asnightfalls A Life Once Lost From A Second Story Window Bury Your Dead Blessed By a Broken Heart Gray Lines of Perfection All My Heroes All That Remains Dear Whoever From Autumn to Ashes Hand to Hand Silverstein The Fall of Troy I didn't really feel like writing an explanation for them all but if you need any information on a band you like or would like to learn more about just ask and I'll be glad to do it for you.

"Louis, report," spoke a defined voice of the high council. And so he stood, his wrinkled fingers interlocked and pressed upon the desk as he rose to present his report of the Divine Kinship's progress so far. "Nearly all the members have defeated their weapon spirit and are ready to progress to the next task, including Sasurai," he spoke with a slight grin. However his expression soon changed as the other members looked around the table skeptically. "Hmph, I though they'd at least have taken one castle by now," mocked a member, the others nodding in agreement. "It's not as easy as you might imagine. The Weapons of Faith are very complicated and-" Louis stopped, cut off abruptly. "No excuses, we expect to see results on your next report, we can't continue to endorse a futile attempt." Louis nodded and took his seat, sighing quietly to himself and contemplating his next move. Elsewhere Sasurai had just returned from his battle with the spirit beast. And one by one each member of the team reappeared and joined him at the table. It seemed almost everyone had returned when Louis appeared. "Hey old man, what's up?" Sasurai spoke, rising from the table and patting him on the back, nearly knocking him over. "Could I speak with you in the other room?" he asked calmly, nodding towards the door. Sasurai obliged his request and when they were alone Louis began to speak. "The other council members believe things are moving along to slowly, we have to make the Kinship mobile," he said, taking a seat at the counter and sipping some tea. "But everyone hasn't returned yet, we're just starting and you're asking me to split up the group?" Sasurai spoke, his temper rising. "We don't have a choice, if we don't make progress the others won't endorse the kinship, and I'll be forbidden from returning here and aiding you," spoke Louis. "What the-" Sasurai shouted, but stopping short after, as Louis began to speak again. "I've already informed you of the first task, you'll have to work with what you've got. There is only a few who havn't finished with their beast and I'll transport them to you once they're done. Until then it's up to you, I'm expecting great things," and with that he disappeared, leaving nothing but an empty teacup. Sasurai grunted as he returned to the previous room to meet with his team. "Alright everyone. Not all of us have defeated our spirit beast yet but we've got to get moving, without them. Our first mission is to obtain a base of our own, in case we need somewhere to hide or a place to stay. In each province Takanaka appoints a lord to oversee the area in his absence. Each lord represents an element and is given a castle to best suit their characteristics. The elements are Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and Lightning. Together these are The Five Lords, each one with immense power and prestige among the ranks of Takanaka's army. As we travel towards his own castle, we will be expected to dismantle the homes of each lord and set the provinces free. As each lord falls Takanaka will become weaker and lose his support, allowing for a much easier battle when we make it there. We are now under the Earth jurisdiction, ruled by Lord Daichi. We'll be expected to take his castle and obiltorate his forces. From then on we'll use the Earth Castle as our home and reside there to make plans and assemble forces for following battles." Everyone looked a bit surprised, trying to take in all this information at once took a toll on the mind. But even at such a stressful moment Sasurai could sense the determination of the room. The first battle, although difficult, must've helped them to realize the reality and severity of the situation. It was up to them to save the Chosen One and bring about the fall of Takanaka. "Oh, and one more thing. After mastering your weapon's spirit you have gained access to it's true potential. You will not only be able to use the weapon's power, but also to call upon your spirit beast in times of need. The Weapons of Faith are able to distort the area around them, allowing for their master to create a small rip in time for the spirit beast to pass through. They may only stay here for short amounts of time but may prove useful in battle. There is a catch, however. As long as your beast is present in reality, you won't be able to use your weapon power. The spirit can only be used in one form at a single moment in time, so keep that in mind if you decide to call upon the beast. This is the Familiar Technique, the ability to call upon your spirit guardian in times of need." As everyone became paralyzed by thought Sasurai interrupted the silence once again. "For now, we'll be splitting up. The Earth Castle is enormous and it's security is some of the toughest we'll encounter. One group will have to go around to the rear of the castle and make a stealth entry, killing off guards and anyone who gets in the way. The other group will do a full frontal assualt, creating a distraction to aid the other team in entering without being noticed. When the frontal assault is finished both teams will be able to enter the castle and work their way up to Lord Daichi. The frontal assault team, Team 1, will be made up of myself, Rafael, Senka, and Dorothy. The rear stealth team, Team 2, will consist of Tetsuya, Tomoya, Faith, and Rieur. Each team will be given a map with the quickest possible route to the castle, where we'll all meet up at the indicated marking. When Sakura and Tao finish they will be transported to Team 1, and when Hauken finishes he will be transported to Team 2. And now, it's time to go," he spoke with a laugh, gathering his team and waving to the others as they both parted in seperate directions. Hope they'll be alright... OOC: Finally, everyone will be able to interact and do their own thing as we make our way to the first castle. Information on the surrounding area and techniques has been edited into the first post at the underground (click here).
