1. Really? Then why were you getting all up in arms for me saying that Korn/Nu-Met aren't metal? And I actually SAID that Nu-Metal had metal influences! I know that! Don't try to change your entire damn viewpoint now to make yourself look good. And don't try to be all condescending either. Also, stop throwing out this whole "oooh, don't judge me! Poor me, I'm being judged" bullsh!t. No-one feels sorry for you. And yes, I am, in fact, an @$$hole.
 2. I like the intro song to Witch Hunter Robion quite a bit.
 3. Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper Follow the Reaper is (IMO) one of the greatest albums to appear on the Finnish metal scene. An interesting mix of Black, Power, Melo-death and Speed metal is beautifully and skillfully excecuted by the Bodom crew, better here than on the rest of their catalogue. Songs like "Kissing the Shadows", "Northern Comfort", "Children of Decadence", and the classic "Hate Me!" showcase the overwhelming talent of the sextet. Guitar and keyboard solos and lightning-fast harmonies run amok. This album is a must-have for all who appreciate amazing guitar work. Iron Maiden - Powerslave How could Iron Maiden go without making on to a "must-have" list? Powerslave is a no-brainer: "Aces High", "2 Minutes to Midnight", and of course "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" are all on this disc. Iron Maiden is (IMO) one of the greatest bands of all time, and this album is a must-have for any collection. In Flames - Whoracle In Flames helped to pave the way for the respectable Gothenburg Melodic-Death Metal scene. Their soaring, mile-high riffs and beautiful melodies set them apart. Whoracle, their fourth album, is thought by many to be the pinnacle of their career. "Jotun", "Food for the Gods", "Gyroscope" and "Dialogue With the Stars" start off this disc. All that, plus an awesome cover of Depeche Mode's "Everything Counts" and you've got a classic on your hands.
 4.
(such as listing Dredg under you "uber-metal" list)
:animeswea Oops, Dredg isn't supposed to be on there... that's a list of music I like from an online profile of mine. I copy/pasted it into there and then deleted everything that wasn't metal. I'm sure I probably missed a few, and Dredg was definately one of them. Thanks for catching that (and don't worry, I'm VERY well aware that Dredg is NOT a metal band). Second of all, that's no an "uber" metal list, it's just some stuff I like. If it was an "uber" metal list, a few bands would be missing, and a couple that aren't included would be. And if you're going to claim that I'm "very confused about metal", you better damn well give a reason to back up that claim, buddy. You didn't say why you thought I was confused. If you're going to say I'm confused about metal because I said that Korn, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson and the Murderdolls aren't metal, I probably won't want to discuss this with you anyway. Go talk to Fall. If you can intelligently and legitamately back yourself up, that's fine.
 5.
No no no. Stop right there. Since everyone is bitching about what metal is and isn't. I think I have a right to ***** about what "gothic" music is and isn't. None of the music on your list is gothic or, goth rock. Nowhere near it. Goth rock is music like Bauhaus, The Cure (Disintagration/Pornography), Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Creatures, The Damned, Joy Division, Rosetta Stone... Listen to My Chemical Romance and compare it to Bauhaus. Gawsh. >_
 6.
I feel kind of strange that i'm one of the few people listening to rap well i'm listening to Paul Wall: Sittin Sidewayz then R. Kelly: 1-5 Trapped in the closet that song has so many twists to it the ending was really weird and abunch of other songs that i like
Actually, you're definately not alone listening to R&B and Rap - they're the most popular forms of music in the U.S. at the moment. You're just the only one who says something on the boards - which is good. It's almost refreshing to see R. Kelly appear in the sea of Green Days and Slipknots. Kudos.
 7.
For awhile I was into the boyband thing, but I got over that fast. For know I'm into punk. I'm in love with greenday, the offspring, three days grace, and others.
Green Day? I thought you were over the boy band stuff! ...Okay, so maybe they're not that bad.
 8. Hey, I love some Nu-Metal bands. In fact, here's a little list of Nu-Metal bands I personally enjoy: Otep (well... I only like the first album) Ill Nino Gizmachi Slipknot Linkin Park Mudvayne Mushroomhead Spineshank Motograter etc. There's great Nu-Metal out there. But you can't honestly tell me that if I thought that Cannibal Corpse was an R&B group, then they're an R&B group. Just because someone thinks it's metal doesn't mean it is. That's exactly the sad thing about it - there's so much great metal out there that no one ever gets exposed to because they're told that (IMO) crap like Marilyn Manson or the Murderdolls are metal. They think that's what metal is and never bother to take a second listen tol metal because people think that's what it is. This is why it matters so much. I hate it when people ask me what I listen to, I say metal, and they say stupid **** like "oh, so you like, like, Slipknot? I heard that Duality song once... pretty scary with the masks and stuff. Yeah, metal scares me." Slipknot is great and all, but it makes me sad when people think that's what metal. And the public does view this as metal. It's a terrifying, depressing thing. And most the people who are into Nu-Metal don't even know the roots of metal to begin with! Somthing like: (Me) "Oh, so what kinda music do ya like?" "Metal!" "Like what?" "Linkin Park and Slipknot and Korn and the Murderdolls and... blah blah blah" Then I try to talk to them about the roots of metal and they say: "Iron what? Which Sabbath? Judas who? What are you talking about?" This is very sad - but NOTHING beats this: Someone actually said to me "Iron Maiden isn't metal at all! They don't even scream!" That, my friend, is pathetic, sad, and above all, it's heresay. I couldn't believe someone would say that. That's why it's a problem. Look, if you don't care about subgenres, that's fine. If you don't think there's a definate "metal" or "not metal" that's fine. But please never ever say that if someone thinks it's metal, that's OK. No. It's not fine. If I said that Korn was J-Pop, you wouldn't be too happy. You obviously don't care about metal, but look - it's an honor for those very few of us who do. This is why I'm arguing so much with you. Like I said, there's some truly terrific Nu-Metal bands out there - but you talk to any true metalhead, they'll tell you it's not metal. You see, metalheads have to truly defend their beloved and sacred music. It matters because sometimes it's all we have. It's a beautiful world unto itself, and I hate seeing it corrupted. That's why I care. That's why it matters. I'm going to be as opinionated and argumentative as I want about it - it's my lifeblood, my escape from all the **** that goes on around us everyday. The only thing that's truly pure to me. I love it's purity - the integrity it has that so many types of music never will. This is why I'm so passionately stated on the subject. And I also realize that some these are your opinions. For example: just because your opinion is that the sun was actually crafted from the butt-cheese of a thousand elephants by a giant cross-dressing traffic light doesn't actually mean that the sun was crafted from the butt-cheese of a thousand elephants by a giant cross-dressing traffic light. The sun is a giant sphere of burning gasses any way you look at it. This is fact, regardless of opinion. Just like the fact - FACT - that NuMet isn't metal. It's not a matter of opinion at all. It's a fact. It's not my opinion that NuMet isn't metal, it's just a simple fact. I just wish it didn't have the word "metal" in the title... that really confuses people.
 9. Today, I've been listening to: Within Temptation Elvenking Korpiklaani Death Finntroll Children of Bodom In Flames Cannibal Corpse Turisas Circle of Dead Children As I Lay Dying Nile Opeth Susperia Nightwish
 10.
Gah...anything Heavy....Slipknot, Machine Head, Nothing Face, Static-X, Meshuggah, Mastodon, Avenged Sevenfold, Cradle of Filth...anything like that.
\m/ MACHINE HEAD \m/ You get props, dude.
Well when i'm getting ready for a softball game I listen to Papa Roach,Green Day, The Offspring,Simple Plan Any punk band. That include the car ride to the Field. It depends on the mood I'm in and what Cd I want bring with me. I either put it in my CD player or my mom's car CD player.
 Green Day, Simple Plan... punk? I think not, my friend. Not saying they're bad or anything, it's just that that's sure as HELL not punk.
 11. Well, I checked around, and it looks like word out there is that there is actually no song by Hatebreed called "Kill the Niggers". I wouldn't believe it, either. Hatebreed is generally a band with very positive lyrics, and I can't see them ever releasing a song like that. Even if they did, I doubt the lyrics would actually have to do with murdering black people. I'm sure what you saw on Limewire was some jackass kid thinking it would be funny to put something up and say it was "Kill the Niggers" by "Hatebreed" to cause problems. I suggest you download the thing and see what it actually is. I bet money that it's either just another Hatebreed song or has nothing to do with Hatebreed altogether.
 12. Hey, whatever works! I feel uplifted when I listen to that song. It's so, like, inspiring and stuff.
 13. What I mean by "based on hip-hop" isn't that they're trying to sound like hip-hop, just that they take elements from it. I think maybe we agree and aren't noticing it... :animeswea And I still disagree with you about metal subgenres!!!
 14.
Still there is Within Temptation but I don't know where they are from.
Within Temptation (who KICKS *** by the way!) is from the Netherlands.
Nightwish Apocalyptica
Both those bands kick illegal amounts of ***. You get the good music stamp of approval.
 15.
Statix-X or Murderdolls. Each of them has the rise in speed and heaviness in their music that gets you pumped. Mainly I use it for mosh pits or backyard wrestling. Heavy metal is really good for those type of things.
Yes, metal is good for these type of things. So why don't you actually try listening to metal?
Hatebreed usually gets me going if need be. Songs like "I Will Be Heard" just make you angry lol.
That song makes you angry? It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside! :D It's actually a really positive song, as far as lyrics go.
 16.
I do realise this, and I also realise their first album is up to ****, I don't like it as much as their other albums. But you cannot tell me the albums Take A Look In The Mirror, Follow The Leader, and Greatest Hits Vol. 1, are based on hip-hop. I know alot of their songs have the rap-style singing, but what makes 'em different, is that they don't sing about "poppin' a cap in some homie's ***", or "we gangstas, and we makin' stashes of money". Jonothan actually puts alot of work into his lyrics, and I see their music alot more than just "based on hip-hop". We all have our opinions, but I think it's narrow-minded to say KoRn bases "all" their music "heavily" on hip-hop.
Oh, I realize the lyrical differences between actual rap/hip-hop and Korn. That wasn't my point. I was simply talking about song structure. I don't see how saying that Korn's music is based on hip-hop (which it is) makes me narrow-minded. You see, Jonathan Davis even says that Korn bases their music on hip-hop. Yes, even Take a Look In the Mirror is based off hip-hop - it wouldn't be Korn if it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I like Korn for the most part. And yes, there is more to Korn than hip-hop (quite obviously, and I realize this). Their music is, though, based on hip-hop. There's no way around it. And how can you call me narrow minded for saying that Korn is based on hip-hop when you said:
...any kind of rap, or RnB. Gnagstas and homies an all that. And then there's Usher and Nelly... all the same to me. I can't stand any of it.
You know, I don't like rap very much at all, but there's some great rappers around. Ever heard of Jedi Mind Tricks? Check out their album "The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological, and Electromagnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness". You won't find any traces of Gangstas or hos or hustlas here.
 17. The new Bloc Party single. It's annoying as hell. Make it die. And you know, Fall, diss hip-hop all you want, but Korn bases all their music on hip-hop influences. Yes, even on their first album. The rhythms and lines are all based heavily on hip-hop music. Not criticizing you, just saying you should look out.
 18. I used to hate the way Slipknot had changed, but it's actually really grown on me lately. Vol. III is their most mature album by far, they just pulled it a little fast on the hardcore "maggots". I agree with you here for sure. AILD introduced their progression beautifully. It's just an amazing disc all around and I don't think I could get the damn thing out of my CD player if I tried.
 19.
I understand that you have a passion for metal, but next time, calm it down a little. XD
Nah. It's more fun being overboard!
 20. The Agony Scene is band with a great high-pitched scream. I don't have time to complete this post; I'll come back and edit it later.
 21. Yeah, my favorite songs were Confined and Darkest Nights, both of which kind of showcase the new style (more melo-death metal than hardcore, singing vocals on the chorus, etc), and I love it all!
 22. As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, Bloodbath, or Finntroll usually get me pumped for whatever it is I need pumping for (Karate tournament, golf, etc.).
 23. As I Lay Dying's new album, Shadows Are Security, is quite a change in direction for the band. Almost immediately noticable is the almost complete lack of hardcore influences. They've moved on to nearly pure (melo) death metal. Not only that, but the inclusion of clean (singing) vocals is much more apparent on the new disc. What does everyone think? I LOVE THIS ******* DISC! This is AILD's best album yet (IMO). Amazing. I simply love it. The melodies are spot on, and the inclusion of singing is just icing on the cake for me. It's still heavy as hell when need be, but conveys melody a little better than on previous albums. It's great. 10/10. Everyone buy it now.
 24.
1. Blue Oyster Cult- (Don't Fear) The Reaper (20)
Right on, dude. That song is kickass.
 25.
I have all the Underoath, TBS, and AFI cd's (and some albums). Most of it's great stuff, I just think you need a little more of an open mind, Jake. :)
I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm being closed-minded for not liking any of that. You see, my brother is an AFI fan. I've heard every single song off every single album by them multiple times and tried to get into them. I have actual reasons behind my dislike for them (bland song structure, (IMO) annoying vocals, monotonous changes throughout entire albums, etc.). As for Underoath, I have countless friends who love the band. I've heard every album, if not every song individually. For example, I can say that my favorite albums of theirs are Acts of Depression and Cries of the Past. I never voice an opinion about a band without knowing about it first. Ever. If you take a look at my CD listing, you'll see that my tastes are quite eclectic. If I were closed-minded, I wouldn't like half of that stuff. I just don't like AFI or Underoath.
