2.
Aw, come on. Listening to more stuff like Nightwish isn't going to make me any different. I can't stop liking Underoath or AFI or Taking Back Sunday or anything else you disagreed with. What matters is that I like what I like and you like what you like, and we're separate individuals.
Hence the whole "it's only my opinion, I know it's not crap to everyone" disclaimer I included. I guess you missed that part... 3. Ah, Kamuro, yet again, you astound me with how you actually know what you're talking about! Thank you. As for Underøath, I do realize how much they've changed. Their older stuff was way, WAY better (IMO). What happened to the breakdowns? Why did they murder their musical integrity? Why did they turn into a friggin' POP BAND? Sorry. Anyway, I was referring to "They're Only Chasing Safety", and I do realize that the old stuff was way more 'hxc'. But either way, like you said, they aren't metal. Symphony in Peril is alright, but I haven't heard enough of them to form a set-in-stone opinion. And if you want bone-shattering, heart-crushing, heavy-as-your-fucl
 4. Well, my one CD case wouldn't fit all 500 of my CDs (yes, I know I have no life, deal with it). Oh, and props to Ailes de Velour for listening to Nightwish. They are ( by FAAAAAARRR) the best band on your list. Listen to more Nightwish and stuff like instead of AFI and Underoath and crap like that. Okay, well it's may not be crap to everyone, but I hate it.
 5. You won't regret it! Although, knowing my luck, you'll the the worst possible episode and slap me. Oh well. Stay heavy! \m/(>.
 6. That's all awesome guys, but please please PLEASE do me a HUGE favor and never, never, EVER, under ANY circumstances, associate Underoath with metal. Nothing against them (well, I hate them, but whatever), but they are in NO WAY metal. Not at all. No. In fact, they're not even hardcore. They're post-hardcore poppy stuff, whatever you want to call it. I love their message and all, but their music isn't metal. And I really want to thank you guys for knowing that Hardcore isn't metal. Not enough people understand that. And Justin, I think the best band you listed is As I Lay Dying. Their new disc is phenominal, and best of all, they've converted nearly entirely to pure melodic death metal! YES! Praise the lord!
 7.
I wouldn't regard Rob Zombie and Linkin Park as anything but MEtal, actually. They just fit more into the Nu-Metal genre.
You regard "Nu-Metal" to be Metal? No. Nu-Metal is it's own genre entirely, completely seperate from the almighty holiness of metal. Yes, you're right: they're Nu-Metal. But no, you're utterly wrong, that doesn't make them Metal.
Also, you forgot about me, I listed some high-quality metal acts!
If you're referring to Norma Jean and Between the Buried and Me, Norma Jean is hardcore, not metal, and BTBAM is more like expiramental post-hardcore stuff, but they have a more metallic influence. Sorry to be so picky, guys, but you must understand how freakin' important this is to me!
Did I say Arch Angel? ROFL I meant Enemy. >_
 8.
I've only seen commercials for Metal Asylum. :animeswea I've seen As I Lay Dying and Norma Jean on MTV, while most of the metal I see on Fuse isn't my style. Most of the ones I've seen (I watch tv maybe an hour a day) are the "stereotype" bands.
You've gotta see Metal Asylum. They play everything from Trivium to Manowar to Suffocation to Dimension Zero to Iron Maiden to... well, you get the picture. It's a great show.
 9.
Jake is very passionate about music, so sometimes his strong feelings can be mistaken for flaming. He's really just adamant about music and the points he makes concerning it. I'm just as passionate really, but I try to be nice best I can lol. Truth is, devils and signs of the sort are a big stereotype concerning metal. I recently got called a "devil worshipper" because I was wearing a Slayer shirt, not because I ran around screaming how much I loved Satan, merely because my shirt was black and I suppose I fit the stereotypical mold of "Slave to Satan," whatever that may be.
 Thanks, Kamuro. Yeah, I'm not mad, I'm just really opinionated. Sorry guys.
Fuse used to do this, but it seems like they've just become another MTV.
I disagree here. Dude, haven't you seen Metal Asylum? They play some serious metal! I've seen them play a Suffocation video, for God's sake! I can't think of a single other video channel that has the guts to play a video by Suffocation. Rockzilla and Slave to the Metal aren't bad either, but Rockzilla plays pretty much mainstream stuff though.
 10.
I like Metal, but not Satanist stuff and I only like stuff I can understand the words to. I like Slipknot (hey, I understand them) and System of a Down, and sometimes Linkin Park
Okay, but where are the metal bands you like? You said you like metal, but you HAVEN'T LISTED A SINGLE METAL BAND...
I love metal music, not any type of metal (because how can you catagorize metal music into subsections?) but all metal. SlipKnoT and Cradle of Filth are my favorite bands but I also listen to Murderdolls, Wensday 13, Rob Zombie, and a whole bunch of other bands that would take me forever to list all of them.
Hmmm... again, only ONE metal band (Cradle of Filth). Wednesday 13 is as metal as Cannibal Corpse is teeny-bopper pop music.
As for the question for starters. Heavy Metal, we all know what heavy metal sounds like. The best music out there. Full stop, no questions asked.
Hate to break it to you, Fall, but so far, every "metal" fan except one (TheAmazingZLJ) on here has proven you very, very wrong.
Death [of course], Behemoth, Chimaera, Necrophagist, Lamb of God [also Burn the Priest], Cannibal Corpse, Arch Angel, Deicide
YES! Finally! I think you're the only person who said they liked metal that actually listed some ******* METAL bands! Thank you! You are my friend, Mr. TheAmazingZLJ! As for me: METAL! I mean actual METAL, by the way. For example: Aborted, Abortion, After Forever, Age of Ruin, Amorphous, Amon Amarth, Angra, Anorexia Nervosa, Anthrax, early Arch Enemy, Arsis, As I Lay Dying, At the Gates, Avantasia, Behemoth, Beyond the Flesh, Beyond This Flesh, Black Label Society, Black Sabbath, Black Steel, Bleed the Sky, Blind Guardian, Bloodbath, Borknagar, Burnt by the Sun, Caliban, Candiria, Cannibal Corpse, Carpathian Forest, Cateract, Cattle Decapitation, Carnal Forge, Catamenia, Celtic Frost, Chimaira, Children of Bodom, Circle of Dead Children, Clifton, Cradle of Filth, Cruachan, Cryptopsy, Darkane, Darkest Hour, Dark Funeral, Darkmoor, Dark Tranquillity, Dead to Fall, Death, Demons & Wizards, Despised Icon, Devildriver, Diamond Head, Diecast, Dimension Zero, Dimmu Borgir, Dragonland, Dream Evil, Dredg, Dry Kill Logic, Edenbridge, Elvenking, Emperor, Ensiferum, Evergrey, Falconer, Falkenbach, Fear Factory, Finntroll, Fireball Ministry, Flowing Tears, Freedom Call, Geasea, God Forbid, Gwar, Haggard, Hammerfall, Heaven Shall Burn, Helloween, Human Fortress, Hypocricy, Iced Earth, Illicit Rite, Impaled, Imperanon, Insomnium, Into Eternity, In Flames, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kamelot, Kalmah, Kataklysm, Katatonia, Khøld, King Diamond, Kittie, Korpiklaani, Kotipelto, Kreator, Lamb of God, Leaves' Eyes, Led Zeppelin, Lilitu, Liquid Tension Experiment, Lost Horizon, Luca Turilli, Lullacry, Lyzanxia, Machine Head, Manntis, Martyr A.D., Mayhem, Mercyful Fate, Meshuggah, Misery Index, Moonsorrow, Mortician, Mortiis, Naglfar, Necrophagist, Neurosis, Nevermore, Nightrage, Nightwish, Nile, Noctournal Rites, Norther, Nothingface, Old Man?s Child, On Broken Wings, Opeth, Pain, Paradise Lost, Passenger, Rhapsody, Samael, Sepultura, Shadows Fall, Sinergy, Six Feet Under, Skinlab, Skinless, Skyclad, Soil, Soilwork, Sonata Arctica, Soulfly, Spiral Architect, Susperia, Steve Vai, Stormlord, Stratovarius, Suffocation, Summer's End, Summoning, Superjoint Ritual, Symphony X, Theatre of Tragedy, The Black Dhalia Murder, The Gathering, The Mandrake, Therion, The Wage of Sin, Threshold, Today Is the Day, Tool, Tristania, Trivium, Tvangeste, Týr, Unearth, Vile, Vintersorg, Vixen, Warmen, Windir, Winds, Wintersun, Wolf, Zyklon, 3 Inches of Blood. There's some good metal for you. Sorry, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, stuff like that... it may be good (for example, I love Slipknot), but it's not metal. Please please PLEASE don't parade around tainting the name of metal by calling bands like Murderdolls and Linkin Park metal! PLEASE DON'T DO THAT! It's not metal. At all. Regardless of whether it's good or not (again, I like Linkin Park just fine), don't call it metal because it's not. Sorry to rant, but I'm so sick and tired of it! Fall said earlier in one of his posts "Heavy Metal, we all know what heavy metal sounds like". Obviously, we don't. In fact, I've rarely found anyone that wasn't an actual metalhead that knew what metal sounded like. It's the number one most misunderstood genre out there, I think. For example, most people associate screaming with metal. Yeah, metal has more screaming than most genres, but half the bands listed up there never scream at all. Secondly, metal is, for the most part, very very melodic. It's beautiful music a majority of the time. It's not just banging on stuff and screaming. The list goes on and on, but the point is this: I love metal almost to the point of a character flaw. I'm very passionate about it, and that's why I defend it the way I do. And I care so much about what is and isn't "metal" because I don't want people confusing the music I love with bands that aren't at all metal. In it's pure form, true metal is (in my opinion) the most amazing music out there. Hands down.
 11. Death is ******* awesome, Bodom is quite possibly my favorite band ever, but I disagree with you completely on Slayer. I loathe Slayer. I respect them, because if not for Slayer then most of what I listen to today wouldn't exist, but I think Slayer is annoying, image-obsessed, repetitive, and hugely overrated. But that's just me. I know TONS of people who love them. But yeah, Death and Bodom rule. And I haven't gotten to Demonoid yet, but they've been on my To Listen To list for a while. As for Dimmu Borgir, I like their mid-era the best. Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Spiritual Black Dimensions, and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia are incredible albums. I know that Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is a newer album, but the other two are mid-era. I think those albums exemplify how symphonic black metal should sound. And speaking of symphonic black metal, have you ever heard of Anorexia Nervosa? Those kids are ******* kickass.
 12. It's not that some bands aren't gung-ho on the devil crap, it's that most bands aren't. And I wasn't flaming. It wasn't anger... I truly pitied the ignorance of that comment. And anyway, even if the Ozzfest was Satanic, people are allowed to worship Satan. It's a feedom of religion thing. Look, I'm a Christian, I go to church every Sunday and Bible study every wednesday. I also don't have a problem with Ozzfest's imagery, or the imagery some metal bands use because half the time, it's for shock value. My point was that just because it conflicts with what they believe doesn't mean everyone is going to have a problem with it. I just wish they could see that their beliefs shouldn't get in the way of other people living and enjoying their lives. It isn't just happening with Ozzfest... for example, we don't have Lotto here because gambling is against their ethos. Again, nothing against them, but do they need to outlaw it? All they have to do is not buy Lotto tickets!
 13.
Stop the religious groups cmplaining? But that's whay Metal is dressed up in such devil insignia in the first place! They want to rile the religious groups, rebel, and cause a stir.
LMFAO!!! Oh my God, that's one of the funniest damn things I've ever heard. Obviously you know NOTHING about metal AT ALL. Devil insignia? No, there's only one sect of metal that truly gets into the whole Satan thing (Black metal), and that didn't appear until the early 90s. If metal "dressed up in all that devil insignia" in the first place, it would have happened in the 70s when metal came to life. Metal isn't about riling the religious groups - it's about the ******* music. If you happen to be one of those people who goes around saying that all metal is satanic without knowing a single thing about it, you need to go play a nice little game of hide and go **** yourself. There are tons and tons of Christian metal bands out there - Christian death metal, Christian power metal, Christian metalcore, Christian "white" metal (Black metal style metal with Christian lyrics). As for secular metal, lyrics range from slaying dragons to the expansion of emotional and mental awareness. You know nothing about metal, so don't talk like you do. I do, however, see your point with the Ozzfest illustrations, but that's all they are: illustrations. They know nothing about a single band on the tour besides Black Sabbath (who they're target, who isn't Satanic in the slightest bit. Not at all. And it's not Ozzy that's taking the 'Fest to Utah, it's Sharon Osbourne. She runs the whole thing. And yes, she's probably asking for it, but that's just it: we all know they were gonna have a problem with it, but should that stop the rest of us from ejoying the 'Fest? It's hard to be a metalhead in Utah in the first place. This is censorship at one of it's worst.
 14. Well, I'm always open to new stuff, so I'll give them a try anyway.
 15.
But, if you have a little brother or sister, you can simpithize with me, when my 10 year old step bro is learning cuss words, something is wrong, in my opinoin, he's too young to hear that kind of crap. I also have a 6 year old brother, he already has a very "colorful" vocabulary, and I do the best I can to "protect" him from the stuff he is too young for, but i can't watch him every single second of the day, i have my own life. He hears a lot just from his friends (who are also his age) but I really think he is too young to know what a wh*** and a b**** are. Pardon the cliche, but "Think of the children!" lol
While this is a noble view, you have to consider the fact that kids are going to hear this stuff no matter what. Censoring music and television won't keep them from being exposed to vulgar language and concepts. Your brothers are going to hear that stuff, whether it be from a song or from another kid at school. Censorship is, yet again, proven to be useless.
 16. If I may be a little opinionated here... CENSORSHIP IS UTTERLY, INCREDIBLY, DISGUSTINGLY WRONG. I'll start with a little example of rediculous cencorship. In the song "Sugar" by System of a Down, the words mush, bullet, and (I'm dead serious here), Russian are edited out. Why the hell is the word "Russian" cut out of the song? And mushroom? They're not referring to the drug here. The lyrics are "the kombuja mushroom people sitting around all day". This is a reference to the state of the American public in the era of the atomic bomb (mushroom clouds). The word bullet in context referrs to life (... with a bullet called life). Okay, these words are cut out of the song without any regard to the context in which they are used. The censored version of the song butchers the message that the artist was trying to convey. The point is, somone is going to be offended by nearly everything. It's not as if censorship is saving anyone. Everyone hears swear words every day of their lives. Anyone who's ever attended public (or private for that matter) school can attest to this. You hear it in the workplace, on the street, everywhere. Look, if something offends you, you have the ability to turn off the song or change the channel. That's what I don't understand. Everyone gets all up in arms over "vulgar content" when all they have to do is not listen to that song. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE OFFENDED DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD GET IN THE WAY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESS. No one is strapping them down and saying "you must listen to the vulgarity! Ah ha ha ha ha! You are getting all vulgar-like!" CHANGE THE ******* CHANNEL. CHANGE THE ******* RADIO STATION. The awesome part is, as I submit this post, the whole mother-*******, piece of ****, *****-faced thing will be automatically censored. Ah, the irony. Oh, here's another thing. I live in Utah. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons (some of my best friends belong to the LDS church), but I really don't like the way so many regulations within this state are based on their beliefs. Here's how this relates to censorship: Ozzfest is coming to Utah this summer. For those of you who don't know what Ozzfest is, it's a huge music tour featuring a handful of classic heavy metal bands, as well as a slew of current ones. A group of Mormons is protesting it coming to Utah because it's "a horrible Satanic influence on today's youth". Okay, hold on a second. Last time I checked, there were 3 Christian bands on the lineup. But no, it's metal, and metal is scary. No. You know what's scary? There's a chance they might win and Ozzfest will be banned from Utah. ARGH! Just because they are offended doesn't mean they have to take away the experience from everyone else! That's exactly the problem with censorship: CENSORSHIP IS A SELFISH CONCEPT DERIVED FROM POWER-HUNGRY PEOPLE. Okay. I'm done.
 17. Midnattens Widunder by Finntroll. Oh wait, it just ended. Now it's Seasonspeech by Elvenking.
 18. The new Norma Jean album was good, but a little discordant at times, at least for my taste. Between the Buried and Me is pretty cool, and they are definately doing their own thing, which is awesome. I'll definately check out Advent because KILLWHITNEYDEAD is awesome and apparently they share some band members. I've never heard of He is Legend, but I usually don't like Southern-fried music too much...
 19. I actually haven't heard of Gjesfor Tajsnier! I'll be sure to check them out, sounds like it's right up my alley. I'm glad you like true metal. The misconceptions regarding metal truly make me sad, but it makes us metalheads the few and the proud. Anytime you want some new bands to listen to, just PM me or ask on the thread. By the way everyone, I've been getting quite obsessed with Folk Metal lately, so here's some highlights: Finntroll (of course!) Ensiferum Korpiklaani Elvenking Cruachan Turisas Skyclad Have fun, be folky, and STAY FUCl.
 20.
I am in love with classical music and just anything instrumental. I think that after a while, you can get sick of peoples voices and lyrics. But classical/instrumental music never gets annoying. Jazz though has to be my favorite, it just makes you want to dance. :catgirl:
I agree here! My personal favorite instrumental pieces are "Patterns in the Ivy" by Opeth (yes, Opeth is a progressive death metal band, but that song is a beautiful classical guitar piece), and "Dialougue With the Stars" by In Flames (I'm a sucker for two-part harmonies). And I hate to digress, but while we're on the topic of orchestral/instrumental music, anyone here a fan of Scandinavian folk music? I love it so much! It's some of the most interesting music out there, in my opinion.
 21. I listen to Finntroll to fall asleep. I know it's strange, seeing as there's nothing calm about Finntroll at all, but something about their music truly relaxes me. The track that usually relaxes me the most, especially when I'm falling asleep, is Skogens Hämnd off the album Jaktens Tid. It's either that, Children of Bodom, or In Flames.
 22.
Comparing System of a Down to videogames.... *bitchslaps ThatOneOddDude* NO! THAT'S WRONG! GO TO YOUR CORNER!
I'm sorry, but I have to agree here...
 23.
How nice, then i directly assume that you are also a fan ofJethro Tull :)) as well. I love them. Besides, most of the people i know listen both metal and classical music especially if they are good movie watchers. So don't worry nothing weird about it :)
Yeah, Jethro Tull rocks! And yes, true metalheads know the greatness of classical. I know there's nothing wierd about it! I'm a music lover. I try to dabble in as much of the music world as I can. Flute helped me appreciate music, and now electric guitar lets me explore it.
