Detective Conan is by far one of my favorite animes of all time, and this really helps me seeing as though I'm a criminal justice major in college. This anime really makes you think as you go ahead to try to solve the case as the episode, but the whole "Crack the Case" game on each DVD could be a little bit more into the details of the crime than just random facts. I personally busted my alarm clock just to be able to wake up at early enough to catch Detective Conan on adult swim, but its very hard. I wouldn't have to if they would just start releasing DVDs of the starting episodes. Does anyone have any idea if Funimation is releasing episodes ofthe first seasons?

I think that the main point here is that when we all fell like watching anime, do we go to the tried and true titles (Trigun, Slayers, Cowboy Bebop etc.....) or go into some new titles that we may not all know about, like a recent import from Japan, like Air, Samurai Champloo etc., you know the kinds of anime that you look at and have a fight with yourself on wheter or not you get it. I have used many different sources to verify an anime's enjoyment value through magazines and word of mouth, but in my opinion, you just have to figure out how good or bad an anime is yourself. If I'm studying for a test and need some background noise, I play a series I've seen before and know like the back of my hand. Mostly however, I tend to extend my viewership of anime to many different titles and genres.

I'm about 6'4, so I am taller than most here in college, but at a downsize, we tall people are generally abused for getting things off of high shelves.

Tenchi Muyo is great because just like Ranma, there is no set ending, it continues on and on and on. This allows anyone to just pick up any volume because the odds are that there is a quick character summary so you can know the basic plot and all the different twists and turns that will go on in each story line. However, I heard from somewhere that we may see very soon the continuance of the OVA storyline.....

Ahhhh Calvin....it was him and his large vocabulary and warped logic that helped me relate to that comic so well. I loved the collections, my personal favorite was Scientific process goes "boink", where Calvin made a awhole buch of clones of himself and they made his life crap. One of the things I always wanted to know about was the famouse noodle incident. Watterson never ever explained that....... Must have been awesome and wayyyyy beyond his normal mischief levels......

Ok, let me just state all the things about high school that I took notice of. 1. Yes, its very cliquey. There's no way that any one person can hope to crush a clique, its hard enough just to try to get along with people. Here's what I did. I did not center around anyone in high school. I didn't hang out wit hanyone for the first year, I just acted all by myself. By doing that, I was able to meditate on who I was wihout having someone find out for me. After you find yourself, branch out and be friendly to everyone who you can get along with regardless of their social standings. And if anyone looks at you differently or weird for that, screw them. 2. Yes, the homework is hard, but rejoice the fact that the homework is there to a. give you an understanding of the matierial, and b. to give your grade a good enough boost that you don't die if you screw up on a test. I'm a college student, and if I mess up at least one test, I have to spend the rest of the term playing catch-up from that point on, which gives me less time for anime, and that just sucks. So be glad for the homework. 3. You may think differently, but once you graduate, you'll look back on your years and you will actually have learned from them, and that's coming from someone who wanted SOOOOOOO much to leave high school and go to college to escape from all the bakas there. (It's kinda pointless because there are bakas here too, and they drink more than the high schoolers, which makes them even worse.) So that's my Dom-rant about high school.

I found a website that explains the otaku: http://www.tapanime.com/Subpages/animefun.html It has done a format update, so the how to tell if you're an otaku quiz may be offline, but this is a cool website still. My definition of otaku is an anime fan who acknowledges their love for anime, manga, and related videogames with honor and pride and lets others fan or not, notice it.

That's true, but because our country takes so long to get new anime titles, and since people cannot seem to find the proper outlet for TV anime besides adult swim, they can't expand their viewpoints. If i didn't join the anime club here on campus, I would proabably be one of those kind of People. I feel that the key to this is information. If people would read Animerica or Newtype, they can see so many different kids of anime they can sink their teeth into. If we just look to adult swim for anime, we'll never learn to expand to other anime on our own.

God, too many songs to comment over.....ok here's my current top 5- 5- Naruto- Wind A very peaceful song, the kind of song I listen to as I sit outside on a peaceful day. What's even cooler is that this song is sung in english, and even better is that is english we can make out and not the "scary Engrish" that most Japanese artists who try to sing english make it out. Very cool:) 4- .hack Sign- Aura Any mix of this song is very good, although I lean more to the Evil mix. Very somber sounding. The kind of song you would listen to if you were a little pissed off at something it actually makes you feel better. (Don't ask me why) 3- Golden Boy- Study a Go Go! (Ending Theme) This song used to bug me a little, but now I consider it my official study/exam theme as I take my finals and other tests. Very genki, very happy, very positive sounding. It also says Ganbatte a good number of times and that just has to make you feel good. 2- Saiyuki- For Real This song is just so dynamic its scary. I have to listen to this song at least once a day, but maybe that's why I'm a big Saiyuki fan. The kind of song that you listen to as you walk along the street or sidewalk. Also sing it outloud just to see the looks on the people who listen. and my current #1 is..... Air- Tori no Uta Ahhhhhh....sugoi......this song is sooo beautiful sounding I can't get it out of my head. This goes almost like Open your Heart, but goes beyond it. It sounds more alive, more etherial, much lighter. YOu listen to this song and you just wish to have wings so you can fly through the clouds.......ahhhhhh. anyway that's my top 5.

Thes are titles for romance anime/manga that I recommend: Maison Ikkoku- Can't get any more classic than this. One OF Rumiko Takahashi's BEST works that came before Ranma. Guy falls in love with apartment manager who's also a widow, other characters make his life hell, misunderstandings and comic moments. VERY good. Anime or Manga format works well too. D-N-Angel- For this I recommend the manga ONLY. I saw the first episode as an extra with a Newtype issue and I saw the first 10 minutes and shut it off. Good storyline, slightly dark based on characters, but still goes very well with the plot. A.I Love You- A good manga by Ken Akamatsu, maker of Love Hina. Young male programmer makes female AI programs as a form of interpersonal relationships, freak lightning storm brings his latest one to life, many good moments at start, then developes more comedy from the 3rd volume on. A good Romantic Comedy.

Anime Best Anime Girl Tournament R1 M8: Akane(Ranma) vs. Kanzaki(GTO)
J2Assassin replied to Bloodseeker's topic in Otaku Central
Damn......a tough one. MY anime fandom grew up with Akane and Ranma 1/2, but My personality matches with Kanzaki's really well......Arrgh, the choices......Since GTO is only one series while Ranma has gone through 7 seasons, I'll give my vote to Kanzaki -
being a member of the public relations division of my uniniversity's anime club, I see normal stereotypes each meeting, but there is one facet that always questioned me.....are these stereotypes laws? I decided to test this theory. I went to a well traveled part of the campus, ran my computer with some Detective Loki Ragnarok (awesome series by the way:) ) and I just sat with a notebook and just watched people pass by. In 3 hours time, about 30 people gave me dirty looks(they will die very soon one day), and 10 people came to see what I was watching. From that 10, 7 admitted that they loved anime and asked me what sereis this was. about 3 of them fit the traditional otaku stereotypes, 2 of the others were very goodlooking ladies, 1 was an athletic guy, and the last one was gothic. In summation, we have many anime fans out there who don't nessecarily fit the stereotype.

I would be more along the lines of elemental manipulation, but each one would serve one basic purpose. Like fire would heat, lightning would split, wind would carve, etc. It keeps the formula simple to where you could combine elemental processes to make all kinds of results.

In terms of CG, Vandread is the best out there so far. Gundam Seed is also very stunning visually, and we can't forget wolf's Rain for its slightly dark undertones and mood. Excel Saga for the multiple and random visual styles also.

Anime If you could be in one anime show which one would it be?
J2Assassin replied to IceRose's topic in Otaku Central
Detective Conan. (I refuse to call it Case Closed) I'm actually considering a career as a detective and I love mysteries. Chasing down clues, using logic, figuring out the motives and methods in an actual and realistic setting. Truly wonderful:) -
I have my good friend who obssesses over Naruto. He managed to supply me with some fansubs he collected and now I follow Naruto like its a religion. What's bothering me though is now that Naruto is finally coming to America, I'm afraid to hear the english dubbing. It could be really good like in GTO or very very bad like Escaflowne. (Don't mean to burn any bridges, that's just how I feel.) So far, my favorite part of the storyline is when Jiraiya is introd
