Anime Wow... they're just like me!: Characters you identify with
geekinthecloset replied to Balinese's topic in Otaku Central
After watching Gravitation with my friend, she told me "You're Yuki"! Yeah, I'm pretty much like him although I don't call people **** brat, but moron I use that quite frequently! I have the same "go to hell" look alot too. Like Yuki I'm not real close to my family (although they do try), and I only have one person I truely trust. Everyone else is just using me for something! I guess I'm alot like Misato (NGE), messy, can start the day without a drink, father issues that transend into relationship problems. Yeah those two sum me up about perfectly! -
Anime what iz ur most fav anime look?
geekinthecloset replied to TigerFantasy17's topic in Otaku Central
I would just be myself, only anime! The only thing I would change would be my hair color I'd like it ALMOST white, with light blue tips (I've actually thought about doing it, I just don't think they would like it too much at work. :animeswea ) I would HAVE to have my sunglasses (pulled up to keep my now white hair out of my eyes.) Clothes my jeans (low rise, the one pair that are so worn the knees are gone) A tank top light blue (to match my hair of course) No shoes or flip flops (if I must) Oh maybe a ta-ta reduction, they get in the way during fights! Can anyone actually do this for me, I would make one great character! -
Anime Which do you prefer: Manga or Anime?
geekinthecloset replied to Okita's topic in Otaku Central
Another big reason that I prefer anime is because I go through manga extremely quickly. I'm a fast, highly visual reader--when the images are provided, I can gobble up an entire series so speedily that it almost feels as though my cash was wasted. So manga and manwha have to hook me with something other than the promise of an interesting plot, because I need them to demonstrate a lot of replay value (in a manner of speaking). Anime generally comes in twenty-three to twenty-five minute episodes, which means I'm guaranteed to get a certain amount of viewing time for the money I paid. Whether or not that time is enjoyable depends on my intelligence as a consumer. ~Dagger~
I have to agree with Dagger, I just run through the manga so fast I feel like " that was about half the price of a dvd, and the dvd would have given me about another hour and a half of entertainment!" While I do enjoy the more extensive plot of manga, I think I can fill in the gap left by the anime! (Does that make sense?) Here's alittle math problem for you... I buy a manga that is 13 vol, say I pay the msrp of $9.99. I finish all those within 6 hours. I buy the anime 4 vol set at lets say $18.00 dollars apiece. It will take 5 hours to watch the anime (that's a definate.) So which is a better deal for my money? Yeah, figure it out now you know my answer... Anime all the way!! -
Well for me we'd have to be going co-ed, ( I just don't get along with other females too well! :catgirl: ) The only female I could share a space with would be Misato (N.G.E), because we're So much alike! Nix that since we are so much alike you couldn't find our room because of the massive mess we'd build up, because neither of us would clean  So once again back to co-ed... Yuki from Gravitation, yeah that would be the one! I'd never have to buy my own drinks, or cigs. (Please note I am not condoning drinking and smoking) Plus I would hardly ever have to see him because he'd be writing one of his books! Although when he started calling me a **** brat, I'd just have to tell him to sit there and look pretty! :D

I really don't know how to respond to this... I'm an adult (although I don't act like it :animeswea ) I agree with all the other people who are saying that the parents who don't agree with it probably haven't watched much (if any)! I don't see anything wrong with letting kids watch, I mean I let my 6 year old newph watch Escaflowne! I know for a fact that he's seen worse on tv! My 4 year old neice loves Pretear, and Magic Knight Rayearth.(really makes you want to leave your kids with me huh?) So for all of you whose parents don't agree with it, simply ask them... " Have you ever seen an ep?" If they haven't sit them down with one and watch it with them, then they can tell you first hand what is SO wrong with it.
TRSI is awesome, aren't they? I'm looking forward to seeing what the back side of the cover looks like. Anyway, if you order directly from their store, chances are good that they'll ship you the DVD at least several weeks before its official street date (since it's one of their own products and all). The discount won't be that great unless you shop at TRSI regularly, but hardcore Gravi fans may find the trade-off to be worthwhile. Also, don't forget that the final volume (for now, anyway) of the manga is coming out on July 12. ~Dagger~
From what price ranges I've seen they're the second cheapest($22.49)!! I was suprised, because like you said if you don't shop with them regularly (or hit a really good sale) it's normally msrp from them! The manga (if you're looking) are $7.04 ea. at overstock, the only down side is that they don't have them numbered so you need to go ahead and figure out the vol. cover before you get ready to order! Just found out TRSI has the Kumagoru plush!!

The OVA is being release on 8-30-05 you can preorder now!! PM me in a couple of days I'll know who has the cheapest price on it!! Oh, I can't wait!! :D Just found out about the features: Again the dual side cover, liner notes, art gall., production commentary, anime vs manga comparison, gravitation "sneek previews", textless opening, and textless alter episode 1 closing!

The all time funniest thing I have seen in an anime is in Neon Genesis Evangelion... the first scene with Asuka! Where the guy (can't recall his name) is on the ground in front of her, and the wind blows up her dress and she smacks him guy...( What was that for?) Asuka... ( that's the viewing fee!) guy...(Well it wasn't worth it, here's your change!){ pulls his pants down and flashes her}, then she slaps him again!! It was great! I have never seen anything so funny in a show!

Anime favorite and least favorite anime songs
geekinthecloset replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
Ok LOVE (can not stress that enough!) :D Super Drive from Gravitation (thanks alot Dagger!) Another one I just start strangely humming, Agreement from One Piece, I don't know it just hits me some times. Most of the Kenshin closings they're mainly good. I must say I HATE most the Inuyasha closings  ... except Come! One that just bothers me (to the point of screaming at the top of my lungs) is the us opening for One Piece, it's just so **** annoying! But not to bash all U.S. openings, you gotta love Rave Master's opening theme! -
Here's Match 9! This is the step over the half-way point for Round 1! Don't just post the character that you voted for's name. If you're going to say who you voted for, then explain why you voted for who you voted for, even if that explanation is just quoting someone that shares your sentiments. It doesn't need to be complicated. Even something as simple as "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot more spunk than Rei" or "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot of spunk" will work. So long as it has more substance than "Asuka" or "Asuka's better", its fine. Two Inuyasha characters! How about that? Who'll win? I'm gonna say Sango, because she's a kick *** demon slayer while Kagome is just an ignorant little girl. Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) (good Kagome pictures are really scarce, and it seems like any good pics that I find are either tiny, on a non-existant page, or throw Kagome way out of character. I had to blow that one up a bit, if you can't tell. In other words, if you find a good Kagome pic, feel free to post it) vs. Sango (Inuyasha) I could throw in a huge list as to why Sango kicks *** and Kagome sucks, but I wouldn't be telling you anything that you don't already know. (they really need to re-hire Shawn O' Hare) Maybe I'll give you that list later. For now, I'll just lay down the basics. Sango is a cool demon slayer with a huge boomerang, and Kagome is a posessive tease that happens to be a little too nice. Sango being a lot hotter than Kagome and having better fasion sense are both on that list.
I finally get to answer your poll! I'm so excited!!This one is Songo all the way! There are so many reasons not to like Kagome.... but my biggest problem with her is she ALWAYS ends up kidnapped, and just mainly stands there while everyone else is expected to save her  ! I don't get it, did you run out of sacred arrows or what?? So just for being able to take care of herself its Songo!
watch over and over...and over...and still not understand it...and still yearn to throw a remote at the tv because i dont get it...and laugh at it...and im rambling...FLCL a good show just to get that warm, fuzzy feeling in you, i would say Fruits basket. a couple sad ones would be Elfen Lied and Saikano, ive seen both now, and Elfen Lied has a much better overall story(and much nudity/violence, underage warning, lol) i kept tellin myself 'dont let that happen, dont let that happen, oh no, no no no...'...it happned overall...umm...umm...i think .hack//SIGN is my favorite. its a show taht makes u think. if you want to, anyways, lol
I know what you mean about FLCL, I've watched it ever time it comes on and I'm STILL wandering WTF??? So if anyone who reads this knows why don't you share with me! I've seen .hack I don't know if I could watch it more than a couple of times, though because I start to think about it too much, and then my brain just hurts! :( -
Anime Only one anime the rest of your life! CHOOSE!
geekinthecloset replied to geekinthecloset's topic in Otaku Central
I would choose Yu Yu Hakusho. Although I do believe there are much better anime's out there, I havn't really connected to one like I've done this one. I loved the characters and the series is incredibly long, offering plenty of diversity and lots of interest. Its sort of "common" I guess you might say, for people to like YYH, since it was pretty big on CN, but I find much more deep then most do.
I really did love Yu Yu until the last 10 or so eps. The ending was such a let down for me, I mean after you watch it that long you expect something great! :animedepr -
Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
geekinthecloset replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Yeah, i posted the schedule in this thread when it first came out. Its a couple pages back. I just put all the anime, nothing about the comedy shows because this forum is about anime.
Sorry, didn't mean to upset you, I'm a busy person I really don't have time to check pages that far back (I look at the last 2 pages) And I know it's about anime, but some people actually watch the other shows too! I really don't care about all the others, but some people might enjoy them. -

Anime Only one anime the rest of your life! CHOOSE!
geekinthecloset replied to geekinthecloset's topic in Otaku Central
If I could keep only one series for the rest of my life, I'd probably pick Revolutionary Girl Utena (or maybe even Fafner). But assuming that the list you put in your original post is a list of anime you've seen and liked, my recommendations would be much broader; while I hesitate to call any one anime a must-see series, here are a couple you might want to try. Fruits Basket Twelve Kingdoms Scrapped Princess Neon Genesis Evangelion Vision of Escaflowne Brigadoon RahXephon Last Exile Kaleido Star His & Her Circumstances X TV [not the movie!] That aside... since you've already watched Wolf's Rain and Fullmetal Alchemist, I think the best thing you could do is go out and buy/rent/borrow all of the other BONES anime you can get your hands on. Pretty much everything Studio BONES touches turns to gold. Their other works include RahXephon and Scrapped Princess (both of which are mentioned above), as well as upcoming titles like The Mars Daybreak and Phantom Memory Kurau. All of these series have high-quality visuals and are quite entertaining. boxybrown305: I really need to get around to watching End of Evangelion, heh. At the same time, I'm afraid to watch it--I loved the final episode of the series, and I'm almost worried that seeing the movie might ruin the feeling the series left me with. ~Dagger~
Never could get my hands on the last couple of eps of utena, still bothers me I don't know the end!!! Thanks to all of you who have replied thus far, I will take all these into consideration, ok you know as well as I do I will WATCH them! -
Ok just got really serious into anime, dabbled for awhile now I NEED GREAT anime you know the kind (if you could only have one series for the rest of your life :animecry: ) you could watch it again and again and be happy! :animesmil I'm more of a blood and guts kinda girl :D , but not senseless violence(that's just WRONG) it has to have a decent story line! I've seen wolfs rain, earthian, kenshin, fma, dnangel! So tell me your favorite and why I might keep it the rest of my life  !undefined I SEE you I know you're looking, why won't you answer me??
