Anime Dating Anime Characters: Would You?
Snarktastic replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
Hrmph. Reason "H" is a deterrant? Screw that... they're no fun if they're sane. :tasty:
Psh. I don't need someone that can go crazy-go-nuts and turn on me. It's like having a pet tiger in your house. Oh, sure, it's cute and fun for a while, but then it decides that you look like a tasty sammich, and it all goes to hell. -

Still pining for his first tru wuv, F. Secretly gay, G. Secretly a woman, or H. Completely off his rocker. Or any combination of the eight. -
Let me get this straight...a Jackson Family reality show?
Snarktastic replied to Sol-Blade's topic in Noosphere
I... I don't know! On the one hand, the potential for snark material would be absolutely AMAZING -- especially if they "kept it really real" like Britney Spears has for her crazy little reality series that no one's watching. There could be the potential for a real "got your nose" moment, ala South Park! This could go down in history as the bestest celebrity reality show ever! On the other hand, I fear that we won't get "real" moments from the Jackson family. Everything would probably be so scripted and phony that it would suck the life out of the show, and that would make me a sad panda. But, hey -- at least Tito will get some air time for the first time since the 80s. He could be the real breakout star of the show, you know. ...TITO! -
What Does your sig, avi and username say about you.

Okay, I'll bite. Psychoanalyze me, plz. I would respond in kind, but as of right now, it would probably come out something like YOUR NAME IS LIKE A PILLOW SLEEP NOW ZZZ. -
Actually, the network news has been more of "Hey, okay, we know there are people dying everywhere, and there's this huge AIDS crisis, and North Korea might bomb the everliving crap out of us all -- but here's some WACKY celebrity doing WACKY things! Isn't that WACKY? No, no -- we're not talking about Kim Jong Ill now... Yay for WACKY celebrities and the ratings they bring from on high!" Ugh. This is why I just stick to the Internet. That way, I can pick and choose which views I get to see, instead of having one force-fed to me. Oh, wait, we're supposed to be talking about Michael Jackson, aren't we? Uh... his nose fall off again or something? That's WACKY.

...Does this mean the news networks will be focusing on REAL news now? Maybe? Okay, I know that's too much to ask, but come on! I'm so sick of this case and the sick people in it.
snarktastic, quick little thing. There really aren't seven different plots in fiction...because many of those can be condensed fairly dramatically. I'm not sure where you're getting seven, because there are only three plot concepts: 1. Man vs. Man 2. Man vs. Nature 3. Man vs. Self
Hey, go tell my high school English teacher that. Heh. To be honest, though, there isn't really a set number of basic plots. There are anywhere from 3 to 36(!), depending on whom you ask. I just picked the seven, though, because that's what I remember from high school... all those years ago.

Anime favorite and least favorite anime songs
Snarktastic replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Otaku Central
My favorite anime song would have to be "Tank!" by The Seatbelts. It just got me all excited for Cowboy Bebop and fit the show perfectly. My least favorite is probably the opening theme song for "Candidate for Goddess". It's not that it was extremely terrible or anything. It just reminded me more of an opening number for a '50s-era musical than a show about giant robots. I started imagining the mecha starting to dance around in a big chorus number -- and that's never a mental picture you want to put into the minds of viewers. -
First of all, I would like to say that I love the drawing itself. I would have liked to see more action in the figure, since you said she is supposed to be swimming underwater, but I do like how the hair and the clothing seem to flow. To be honest, I like the blue-tinted one more than the full colored one, since it gives the picture more of an underwater look. I would suggest playing with the color and the shadows, though -- try to establish where exactly she is underwater. Is she deep under the waves, or is she heading for the surface? I can't really tell that well, so, if you want to make it look more realistic, I would try to work on that. My least favorite part of the picture is the background, by far. It just doesn't... fit with the gentleness of the picture. It looks too harsh to be water, really. Try drawing out the water yourself in ink -- you obviously have the talent, so go for it all the way. Overall, I give the first picture an 8.5/10, and the second picture a 7.5/10. Keep up the good work!

Everything has already been done. I think it's been said that there are only seven basic plots on which all stories are based: 1. Man vs. nature 2. Man vs. man 3. Man vs. the environment 4. Man vs. machines/technology 5. Man vs. the supernatural 6. Man vs. self 7. Man vs. god/religion So, why bother writing, you might ask? Because there are always a way to tell as story differently. I'm in a Science Fiction class right now, where we are reading a lot of short stories all focusing around the "Man vs. Supernatural" aspect of Science Fiction. There are so many entertaining stories based around just that aspect alone -- all written within the last 150 years. So, while some older stories might be "better," there are newer stories that are just as good and just as entertaining. In other words, it all comes down to talent, skill, and wanting to tell a good story in a different way.

Name: Sally Freeman Age: 22 Gender: Female Race: Human Origin: Sally is from Perth, WA, Australia. Function: Field researcher Callsign: Imprint Equipment: -Weapons: She carries ancient spellcasting artifacts, like any other field researcher, as well as a spell book. -Armour: Though she hates to wear it, she wears protective black armour over a skintight bodysuit to protect her body on missions. -Special Abilities: She is a psychometric -- that is, she can pick up psychic impressions from inanimate objects. Of course, the types of impressions she receives are fragmented, like people's memories often are. So, while her impressions can give her clues about an unknown artifact, she still needs the help of others to make sense of her impressions. She is also able to cast spells, though that ability is limited to defensive maneuvers. Appearance: Sally is tall, with dark skin and hair. She has brown eyes, a wide nose, and an even wider smile. Her build could be described as lanky. It is as if her body never quite got all the way through puberty, leaving her extremities to seem a bit too long for the rest of her body. *See attachment for a sketch of what Sally looks like.* Legacy: Sally was born to a middle-class Aboriginal family in a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, where she is the oldest of five children. Her father works as a police officer, and her mother sells "authentic" Aboriginal art to tourists and on eBay ("authentic" being the code word for "cheap trinkets vaguely based on actual Aboriginal art sold to people who don't know any better"). Sally grew up as normal as one could in her multicultural neighborhood. Her parents made sure she had everything she needed -- food, clothing, and shelter -- while teaching her that hard work was the way to get what she wanted out of life. When Sally was twelve, her psychometric power began to manifest itself. When she picked up an old tire iron, she received flashes of a violent beating committed with the tire iron. After she explained to her parents what she saw, her parents felt that she should know about her heritage. Before Australia was colonized, Sally's ancestors were part of an Aboriginal tribe noted for their incredibly close relationship with nature -- trees, rocks, plants... these things would "speak" to them, and the tribe would share their knowledge with the other tribes in the area. After Australia was colonized, however, the tribe was forced to bury their knowledge for fear of being thought of as witches. Though they were not as open with the knowledge they gained from these objects, they still made sure their descendants knew who they were and what they were capable of -- knowledge that was passed down to Sally's mother, and now to Sally. Her father then began to secretly use Sally on assignments, using her power to try to track down criminals, helping her power to grow stronger in the process. When Sally was 18, she received a letter asking her to join the Clandestine. Though it pained her to leave her family, she knew that it was her chance to do something really good with this gift she had been given. When she arrived, she was immediately placed as a student of the arcane arts, where she first learned spellcasting and how to handle her spellcasting artifacts. After three years of this, she finally was able to go on her first mission last year. She enjoys going on missions, even if some of the research makes her head hurt at times. When she is not on a mission, Sally can be seen studying her little spell book, trying to strengthen her knowledge of her spells. If she is not doing that, she is writing to her family or tending to her betta fish, Phillip. Quote: "Okay, so my job is a bit... strange, to say the least. I still have to wake up, shower, and get to work on time just like every other person. Not all that different from you, really."
