Barack Obama: Confirmed to be 44th President of the United States
Aaryanna replied to Mr. Maul's topic in General Discussion
Well I didn't vote since I'm not old enough. But if I could have voted, it would have been for Obama, so to see that he had won when I got up this morning, was sweet. :catgirl: Personally I think this is really nifty in so many ways. He's going to have his work cut out for him though. I'm going to have to read up on this when I get home from school, it's going to be interesting, since nearly everyone I know is Republican. o_O I guess it comes from being in a red state and based on the information... the area I'm actually in... that percentage is 78% So win or not... I'm soooo in the minority here when it comes to being happy over the results. ^^ -
Valencia really hated crawling into the different service conduits to perform repairs on her ship the Stykera; especially when the damage was on account of fighting. She hated fighting. There was always the danger that something would happen to Cassandra. It didn?t matter that she was supposedly just a computer program. She didn?t want to lose her. The only good thing this time was that the environmental controls hadn?t been affected. It was a thousand times worse when the temperature wasn?t regulated and you either froze or roasted. At least this time, the metal wasn?t cold as she rested on her stomach while she reached through the panel to work on some wiring. Her communicator beeped and she set the tools she was using down to see what Cassandra wanted. ?What is it?? They weren?t due to arrive at the communications relay for another twelve hours. -You need to get up here immediately.- ?Why? What?s wrong?? -I?m afraid the damage to our sensors was more extensive than I originally thought.- She?s hedging, Cassandra never did that unless? ?Out with it Cassandra.? -It?s the Imperial fleet, the one under Steven?s command. They just dropped out of hyperspace and are headed in this direction.- ?What?? Valencia banged her head painfully on the low ceiling of the conduit when she got up too quickly. She cursed colorfully before quickly putting the panel back in place and then snatched up the tools she was using. ?How the hell did you miss the fact that they?re in this sector!? She snapped as she twisted around to crawl back out as quickly as possible. -I just told you that the sensors were more damaged than we thought.- Cassandra shot back. ?I brought them back online and recalibrated them after you repaired that last section. When I did that?- ?Alright, alright,? Valencia cut her off. ?I get it already. Are they in hailing range yet?? -They are, but no message has been sent. I have detected active scans so? ah, never mind. They just came to a halt and are now hailing us.- ?Bring the ship to a halt and send the standard query that indicates I?m on my way to the bridge. And then make sure you?ve taken care of any clean up that may have been missed.? She ordered. Cassandra snorted. ?I always take care of that kind of stuff immediately, you know that.- Valencia just sighed and kept scrambling as fast as she could to get out of the conduit. She couldn?t help but worry, if Cassandra missed anything from when Scorer and Anderson had been onboard, she would be in a lot of trouble if Stevens found out. She finally got to the opening and scrambled out. She didn?t even bother to put the tools up, letting them drop to the floor as she made for the bridge at a dead run. She was all dirty and scruffy from spending hours doing repairs, but that didn?t matter either. When she got to the bridge, other than to push any stray hairs out of her eyes she didn?t bother to clean up. She sat down, took a deep breath and answered the hail, to her surprise it was Stevens. ?To what do I owe this honor?? She said formally, doing her best to keep her expression even. ?To the best of my knowledge, I have no business with the Imperial fleet.? ?Considering the shape your ship is in, I would have thought you?d be pleased to see us. In your current state it?s possible that you won?t even make it to the closest space dock.? And if I end up on your ship, I might never leave it again, she thought. ?There are plenty of merchants and others who?? ?Don?t be silly Valencia,? Stevens cut her off. ?After all you?ve done I can?t possibly leave you stranded like that.? ?With all due respect sir, I don?t?? ?Valencia,? Stevens said sternly. ?With all the illegal military equipment on your ship, you know full well the consequences should I choose to press it.? ?Of course, I?m well aware of that particular detail.? It took every bit of willpower she had to not snap in return. ?Good and since I have something I wish to discuss, you will lower your defenses immediately and prepare to dock on the Conqueror.? He paused for a moment and then continued. ?Failure to comply will not be tolerated Ms Sabina.? Valencia leaned back after Stevens ended the communication. Great just great. Another message came in containing coordinates for a flight path into one of the bays of the massive flagship. ?You heard him, disable the defenses and follow their directions Cassandra.? -What do you think he wants?- She asked. Valencia waved her hand dismissively in the air. ?I have no idea. I?d like to think he?s only interested in information since we did just come across the border, but I can?t imagine Stevens wasting the time to bother us over that.? She stood up; there was just enough time for her to quickly clean up. ?Do me a favor Cassandra; don?t attempt to hack into the Conqueror like you did with the Transcendence.? Cassandra snorted again. ?Just hurry and get ready.-

Umm...what? I meant that's how I'd get to know all the OB members! No fanciful dinners and scented tissue stuff. Hardcore dodgeball. With the balls set on fire.
lol That would be rather funny actually. =P

Uh, pay attention chibi master. The two members in question Katakidoushi and Nathan are both new. Anyway, if I was interested in someone, I'd probably look for a way to catch their attention. However, like I stated before... I'm not. Now if we're talking about Dessy.... >_>
is kidding
Oh and Nathan... don't change, I like you just the way you are. :catgirl:

And here I like my food well done. o_O Not that I think it's gross, but rather because I don't care for how blood tastes. lol Oh and Gavin, the bit on the 'romantically' challenged vampire deal made me snicker too.
-
Halloween always sees all sorts of crazy movies and legends about a variety of bloodsuckers as it were. So... when I saw a link leading to an article that really was about creatures zat suck ur blood. I decided to read it. It can be found here: The science of bloodsuckers It had a lot of fun and yet gross facts in there. Like this for instance:
Blood contains no fat and is largely composed of water - and for that reason, vampire bats have to drink half their weight in blood every night. They have to start peeing massive amounts even while they're feeding.
That kind had me going... o_O The rest of the bit on why human vampires was mathematically impossible, this was a link to another article within that one: Science takes a bite out of vampires was interesting as well. Over all it just made for a fun, if not gross, read at times. Personally I find the idea of so called supernatural critters existing a bit of a stretch. Though considering that there are real creatures that do suck your blood, I can see how people let their imagination run wild in order to create all sorts of stories and such. =P Anyway that 's what I think. So what's your take on the creepy crawlers out to get your blood? Real or imagined?

Figures that Samantha would be alive. ¬_¬ Anyway, before anyone says anything about what's in my post... It was suggested and approved by Indi and by Raiha as well so... don't look at me like that. It wasn't even my idea to
kill off Ilona.
Now as Sabrina said, we just need to take care of Samantha and we'll be set.

Katelyn was at the emergency access point, but other than people arguing over what to do and what seemed like chaos that the ships staff was failing to control, no one was trying or even starting to direct people to the evacuation shuttles. What are they waiting for? We need to get on the shuttles already. She was sorely tempted to ditch the group of people and head there herself. Katelyn did know where the shuttles were located after all; she had seen them during her tours of the ship when the voyage first began. A flash of long wavy curly hair caught her attention when she saw the passenger Ilona making her way through the crowd of people. Even in an emergency, she moved with the same unhurried grace. This is stupid, if they?re not going to actually evacuate us, I?m going to head back to my quarters. Katelyn made for the lifts, working her way through the press of people heading the other direction. She was almost there when the ship shook violently. Then a voice came over the Von Braun?s loudspeakers:
WARNING, COLLISION IMMINENT. IF SEATED, USE THE BRACE POSITION. ENSURE ALL HATCHES ARE LOCKED AND SECURE. DO NOT STAND UP. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ROOM. COLLISION IMMINENT. BRACE FOR IMPACT.
What the hell? She barely had time to register what had been said when the ship lurched sideways, turning the floor into a steep angle. She couldn?t hear herself over the other passengers screams as she tumbled into one of the emergency stairways near the lift. The only thing she could do was barely manage to grab one of the railings on the stairs to keep from slamming into the wall. She hung on as tightly as she could, not even realizing that she was screaming as the ship continued to shake violently, sending other less fortunate passengers flying. Katelyn could feel her grip starting to loosen and she clung on tighter. If she lost her grip? Katelyn bit her lower lip as she closed her eyes tightly in an attempt to hide from the horrible images of people being killed as they slammed into parts of the interior of the ship along with debris that was being tossed into the air. She couldn?t stop herself from hearing the terrible sounds. ?How can this be happening?? Then just when she thought she couldn?t hang on anymore, the ship lurched again and she found herself held fast against the railing and wall, unable to move against the force pinning her down. She was saved, if only for a brief moment. A horrible screech filled the air and she opened her eyes to see that part of the dome to the ship itself was breaking off. She clutched the railing more tightly without even realizing it. ?Oh my hell.? She whispered, too horrified to look away as debris, passengers and anything close to the opening was blown out. The screams of people as they were literally lifted up and blown out through the hole was sickening. If not for being in the stair well, she too would have been affected. Katelyn could feel the air tugging at her tunic and hair, but other than to cause them to billow about, it wasn?t enough to rip her from her spot. She started to turn away and then stopped when she saw Ilona come into view. Oddly, she wasn?t screaming as the violent force of the air dragged her towards the opening. It was more like she had seen what was going to happen and was resigned to it. Then, as if caught in a moment of time, everything seemed to freeze. Puzzled, Katelyn relaxed her grip slightly and then was sent head over heels down the stairs to slam face first into the floor when another violent tremor shook the ship. She lay there, on the slanting floor, too dazed to move. The sound of things hitting the floor around her was deafening and then, just as suddenly as it has started, it was over. Katelyn struggled to sit up. The ship was resting at a slant and a quick look up showed a huge hole in the dome, but instead of stars, she was seeing an oddly colored sky. The interior was a complete disaster. Bodies and debris was all over the place, including what looked like parts of? She choked and looked away, fighting the urge to hurl right then and there. There has to be people who survived. She thought grimly. Doing her best to ignore the smoke and smells she didn?t want to think about, she staggered to her feet. Other than some bruises and aches, she seemed to be okay. Katelyn had only taken a handful of steps when she realized she was looking at Ilona lying on her back on the deck. ?Ilona.? She started to say and then stopped. Her body looked fine and her expression with her eyes closed and her hair spread out on the deck looked fine, but the rapidly spreading crimson stain that flowed down the deck made it clear that she was not. Katelyn shivered as she walked over to check, careful to avoid the blood. She reached down and checked her pulse. There was none, just as she wasn?t breathing either. She stood up and backed away. Katelyn wasn?t going to turn her over and check, but it was obvious that the back of her head must have caved in when she hit the deck. Or something like that since other than the blood and the fact that she wasn?t breathing, she looked as if she was merely sleeping. She couldn?t stop the tears that started flowing down her cheeks. Now what was she supposed to do? Katelyn just stood there for the longest time before the cries of people in pain dragged her back to reality. Without even thinking about it, she turned and headed for the closest one.

Who Will Win the Presidential Election?
Aaryanna replied to Mr. Blonde's topic in General Discussion
I can't vote. :( If I could it would be for Obama though. I may not know much, but I've done some poking around on the sites James and Nathan linked to, in addition to trying to read up in the news and other sources. The idea of supporting McCain or any other 'conservative' Republican... let's just say I'd rather not. As Retri put it, the neo-conservatism we've dealt with for the past eight years is something we don't need anymore.
