Well, one idea I was thinking about was adapting Alan's thread from a few weeks back into an article. The one that detailed the criteria for becoming an OB Superstar.
SunfallE told me she was actually writing one for that thread. For both the newspaper and for Otakupedia ^_^ -
Embarrassing & Yet Fun Things That You Do

Uhhhh....dunno if this really counts but when I sleep i sometimes spoon the pillow. Hey, it's comfortable.
I do it too. I love sleeping on my side and snuggling up to a soft pillow. And you're right, it is comfy. I have a special long body pillow that I got just for sleeping with. ^_^ As for embarrassing... I love to sing and dance all the time. And yes I subject my poor dog to it. lol She always gives me the funniest look when I do it. Though she does seem to like to be sung to. At least I think she does. lol The other... being blunt and honest. It's only embarrassing since the silly adults around here get the wrong idea when it's a mature topic. I mean come one! Just cause I know how babies are made, etc. It doesn't mean I've actually had sex. :animeblus -

A force consisting of, at it's peak, 10 members. They were; John, Deathknight, White, Sangome, Illikon Retribution, Revelation, SunfallE and Lunox. This includes Gavin, who claimed the spot of the disembodied master, existing inside a giant tube.
How can you forget me? :bawl: My name's right there on the banner! Between Revelation and SunfallE! :p LOL! -
Rach... You have no idea how much I wanted to smack that woman. :animeangr Anyway, it use to be an argument with my mom but that ended last year and now I've got my mom watching anime. lol My dad? Don't know, I've never asked him and my parents got divorced when I was a kid. I do spend time at his place but I tend to watch all of my anime at home or at SunfallE's or Mariskah's place. As well as at a fan sub site that I go to. And to be honest, even if lots of it does have silly fan service and other junk, it's not all that different from other media. You can find all the things that people object to in anime in regular shows as well. Something that I always point out when it's brought up. :p Also... I agree with SunfallE. Your new banner/avatar from Zero no Tsukaima is cute Des! :catgirl: I still need to watch the last couple of episodes from season one.

Greh. I'm about to do a major story post, just a warning not to accidentally ost and contradict it. I'm sorry this rp has been so dead, but I'm about to kick it up a notch. Or twenty.
I vote for kicking it up twenty! Hehe! And with that in mind I have posted. :catgirl: Obviously until that surge of energy is gone Tasha will simply continue to maintain the shield. So that kind of leaves me in the position of waiting on GuyYouMetOnline or you DB advancing the story. ^_~

Tasha wanted to keep an eye on Vanyel but the confusion that resulted prevented her from doing so. Even though using the shield was fairly easy, it wasn't much different from her mental shields after all, but still Liam had not been lying about them experiencing disorientation to hallucinations. She knew the feelings as well as the strange images were not real and yet she ended up having to sit down and simply concentrate on the shield, closing her eyes to what was before her. The hardest part was the sensation of being outside of her own body, it was making her feel as if she was losing her connection to the real world. And she knew that if she opened her eyes it was possible that the shock of seeing where she thought she was, could result in the shield collapsing. Tasha did know the basics of shielding like she had told Vanyel, but she did not know how to keep track or separate the difference between being in her own mind or outside it. Her teacher, or rather friend who had taught her had explained how losing one's connection could result in your mind being separated from your body for good. At least if one did so before they were trained to understand and not be affected by what was happening. With an inward sigh Tasha closed her eyes even tighter, ignoring how even the sensation of her hands touching the ground, the sound of the dust being kicked up in the air faded to silence. Tasha would not drop her shield, no matter what. She knew that Liam was not lying about doing so being lethal. And when it reached the point that she could no longer feel her own body, she simply continued to concentrate on the shield. Until the spiritual energy dispersed there was little else she could do. I hope Vanyel is all right.

Well I was planning on waiting to give my opinion until after the final vote was given, but I changed my mind since I want my thoughts to be known before the winner is chosen. Now I can't claim that I haven't read any of the other posts since I'm working on an article for this for the OB newspaper, so I've been following this from the very beginning. Reading each post as it went up. And I can tell both of you, my opinion is never swayed by what other think or how things are set up. Just go and read how I choose between the two remaining characters in the Maze if you don't believe me. I don't like being forced into choosing in a similar manner. However, in the end, I will be supporting the main thoughts that seem to be leaning towards Beth's story. And to explain why, I'll tell what I think about both stories, starting with your's Beth. Now for starters, I'm going to ignore the grammar issue, since even though I love to write and read, I struggle with it just like you do. I find math and science far more interesting than understanding English. So I didn't even notice the fragmented sentences other than a few of them. I did struggle briefly to figure out just what was going on with Lareth at the very beginning, but once that was clear I had no trouble following along. One of the things I found most fascinating was the very universe or dimension that Lareth and the others found themselves in. Now I have to poke you for this Ezekiel as well as anyone else who seems to have missed it, but it's crystal clear as to why all of the ships failed at the same time, why such a strange flat world existed, why Lareth could fall through space and yet live and most importantly, why there was such an unusual city in the center of that location. Something that is clear from this segment here:
?They are the souls of all sentient life forms. They are the life force that powers the universe, as you understand it. When they lose the connection to the physical world they come here.? ?Like the rift that your ships fell through, all energy returns to the universe in the same manner when the time is right. If not for landing in one of the old grounds you would have come here immediately.?
I didn't quote all of it, but merely the part that shows how they ended up in a reality where the laws of the universe are not the same. A case of E=mc² now being switched to E=mc² only that 2 becomes a 4 or m stands for something else. I'm sure you get the point. ^_~ But then I love science so the idea of being in a dimension where things operate differently is something I find extremely fascinating. But my point is, yes upon that context, the idea of all the ships failing at the same time is believable. :p [basic science really] Anyway, now that I'm done being annoying over the technical bit there, I'll move on to the content as far as Lareth goes. In short, I loved it. I enjoyed the descriptions since they focused so well on what Lareth was feeling/experiencing as well as what he was seeing. Going back and forth between hope and despair as well as fear and fascination. I kept hoping for him to find more than the center of that reality and the realization that he would never be with his family again in his current cycle of life. And aside from being creeped out by the moment when Lareth was pulled under and the shock of seeing his daughter at the end before his memories were taken away, I kept hoping for a happy ending even though the ending was more fitting to what was going on. I find myself feeling bad for Saria who has been left behind, not knowing what happened to either one of them. And in the end, by far my favorite aspect of the story is how it didn't stick with the traditional or more expected Sci-Fi format. I was expecting a space ship type deal and instead got the alternate reality/existence in the universe deal. Great fun! I love it when a story surprises me. :catgirl: **************************************** Okay and now for your story BKstyles. Like the grammar issue with Beth, I intend to ignore the format as well as the issue over whether or not the sentences were too long. [yes I think a few of them were, but not enough to distract me all that much] Anyway.... Putting that aside, the very first thing that threw me off about your story was the similarity to the name of the ship: The ship known as the Velpecula and the name of the aggressor in this story: Vespas That's a beef I have with any story since it's too easy, for me that is, to get the names mixed up. I honestly had to re-read that to keep things clear as to what was going on. As well as who was who. I also struggled with this thought as well:
Eventually, after several futile attempts to match the Vespas in strength, portions of Earth were used as further examples of their power. Parts of the Middle East, Africa, the states of the central United States and eastern Russia were all attacked from space and left in ruin.
Primarily since you started right off from the get go indicating that their attempts to match them were futile, so why did they even leave anyone alive? And secondly, it's just a bit to pat in my opinion that they had the possible knowledge to save themselves at just the right moment. The Summer Triangle. Perhaps you could have introduced the idea that they were studying it already? And then were later confronted by the knowledge that the warning about saving themselves was a harsh reality? Perhaps if you introduced that first and then the fact that humankind was under attack it wouldn't seem so pat per se. The second thing I did not like was this: The halls of the Velpecula resembled something out of a sci-fi movie. I would have liked to see your own description of the ship instead of alluding to others who have done so before. I also feel like the story was rushed, and that might have to do with the limitation put on it, since it really is a story with a lot more to be told. And perhaps you will when you post it separately, I certainly hope there will be more to clearly paint just what is going on since it felt like their confrontation was too soon. But again that's just fine for an opening chapter. ^_~ It even makes the cliff hanger ended acceptable. :p Provided you actually post that second chapter. I have other things I did not care for but since they fall under what my Mom already said in terms of too much being stuffed into the first chapter... I'm not going to detail them out here. I'll save that for when you post it again. And in the end I did enjoy it so I'll be looking for the rest when you post it. :catgirl: And that sums up what I thought. Considering what's been said so far, I certainly hope no one takes it personal. Also... regardless of who Revelation finally chooses, both stories were fun to read and that makes both of them winners in my opinion. ^_~

Fluff watched Agent Webster chase after the lone cricket before turning to go and find Agent Crystia, it was almost time to start the next round of the event they were running. "Hmph!" She said to herself, not caring what others thought if she was seen talking to herself, or rather in this case to Aaryanna who was following along, cocking her head to the side as she listened to her mistress. "What did they expect? Stupid Old Man, he should have done something when those stupid terrorists started breaking the rules. Right?" She told Aaryanna. She glanced at the coffee that had been abandoned in the lobby before leaving. Pity that she did not care for the stuff. Fluff had tried it once, but damn if it didn't taste terrible! She continued on her way to Crystia's and Thone's shared room. Now that she thought about it she hadn't seen Throne in a while either. She knew he was active though, he was the first person to be a part of the event her and Crystia were running. "Why are adults such idiots Aaryanna?" Fluff growled. "I swear, you'd think they'd keep to their commitments or at least tell the Old Man they don't want to be agents anymore." Aaryanna just whined a bit. Agent Fluff knocked on the door to Agent Crystia's room, smiling when she answered. "Good timing Agent Fluff, I was about to come and find you. We need to go over the clues for next week." Agent Fluff and Aaryanna entered the room and then the door closed behind them, Throne was no where to been seen. Not that it mattered. Fluff pulled out her sheet with the information written on it. "All right, lets get to work."

Maybe, but the main reason I've stuck with Explorer is it allows me to access pages offline which Firefox doesn't, which for RPing is quite handy as you don't accidently overwrite something someone else was doing.
Oh I agree that FireFox is a great browser, however, like you Gavin I use IE for things that FireFox sucks at. lol Some of the sites I like to watch fansubs at do not work well with FireFox. Why? I don't know, I just keep IE around for those sites where it works best. Anyway... I wouldn't mind seeing bigger signatures. But I would hate to see them increased by too much. Sure they're fun to do and it's great to be creative, but that's not why I'm here. :catgirl: But 550 x 120 would be fun if only to sneak in more of my dog when I go back to my standard Bichon banner when I'm done with Survivor. Though now that I think about it, since my current links to her in my sig are just links, I don't know why I stuck with the 500 x 100 format. Habit I guess. lol

So it's really come down to this. Crystal had known that Erica was not lying, but still, part of her had hoped. If only for Sandra's sake, but she should have known better. Crystal leaned forward, her elbows resting on the terminal in front of the screen in the genetics lab in the Council Center. She had already put the request for a communication with Tessa in and she was simply waiting for her to respond. Thanks to whatever Kiva had done she had been able to talk to her. It hadn't taken long to discuss what she needed to do with Tessa and now that she had a couple of experiments up and running she only needed to get a few details from her to finish it. Perhaps I should have Stevens arrange for her to be transported to this sector. It would certainly make things a lot easier. A moment later the communication opened and Tessa finally responded. "Sorry for taking so long Crystal," She looked a bit nervous. "But I've been packing up a few things just in case." "In case of what? I thought there were two Elite Specialists there. I can't imagine a civilian force being strong enough to deal with two of them let alone one." Crystal was puzzled. Just what was going on? Tessa laughed nervously, "Crystal, before I say anything I'm sending you the information you requested." She paused for a minute and then after doing something off screen turned back with a huge sigh. "Crystal, Kiva Salqarian may be here at Stevens' request but the other one? Before communication was shut down for this sector we heard how the other specialists are staying neutral until the conflict is resolved." Crystal started to say something but Tessa interrupted her. "Don't say it Crystal, all of us here know that most of the people want us dead for what we've done here. Why do you think so many of the researchers have gone into hiding? Even the damn military is more than willing to look the other way. And don't try to tell me otherwise!" What could she say? Crystal knew she was correct. Even she had doubts about the research, doubts that she wished she had acted on instead of helping with the project. "I know Tessa, but even so, there are those who do not blame you for just doing your job. And though I can't explain why, you'll just have to trust that Stevens sent the best person possible to make sure nothing happens to anyone." Crystal was cut off by the sound of chime for something else at Tessa's end. Something that when Tessa looked at caused her to turn white as a sheet. "Hell!" She turned back to Crystal. "I guess we'll see soon enough." Tessa shuddered a bit. "The civilians are here. I'll talk to you later. If there is a later." Crystal didn't get a chance to say anything, Tessa cut the communication immediately. Damn! Crystal looked at the information Tessa had been sending her, it was incomplete. The data transfer interrupted when the transmission had been ended. Irritated Crystal contacted Stevens to find out what was going on. To her surprise for once he answered immediately. "What can I do for you Crystal?" "The civilians have arrived in sector fourteen. As a result a transmission between me and Tessa was cut off before I could finish getting the data I need." Crystal couldn't help but glare at Stevens a bit. "Stevens, Tessa was concerned that both the military and the Elite Specialists there don't give a damn about what happens to the researchers. So you tell me, just what the hell is going on?" Stevens was going to avoid the question, Crystal could see it coming, And sure enough he did. "It's not quite like that Crystal. It's true that many of them are unhappy with the research, but not enough to shirk their duties." "Dammit Stevens! Don't avoid the question! What is going on in sector fourteen? With two specialists especially with one of them in command of the newest Messenger ship, those civilians shouldn't even be a concern." Crystal waited until finally with a sigh Stevens explained. "I don't have confirmation yet, but it looks like the other specialist is not there to protect the facility at all." For once Stevens almost looked pained. "It seems that some of them have their own agenda based on orders from the High Council. I don't know everything that a specialist is told when they are appointed to their position. But if we are correct, their objective is simply to retrieve the data before the civilians arrive and nothing else." "But..." Crystal started to say but Stevens shook his head. "I can't say anymore than that Crystal. Obviously Kiva is there at my request, to not only protect everyone but to retrieve the data as well as destroying the computer terminals there." "But that would mean..." Crystal started to say. "Exactly, and I hope it doesn't come to that, the last thing Kiva needs to deal with is a rouge Specialist. Now if you'll excuse me Crystal I have a lot to take care of. I'll let you know what happened the moment I find out." And with that he terminated the transmission. Hell! Crystal thought with irritation. This is insane! How are we ever going to get things back to normal again? At that moment another chime sounded, this time it was the one to remind her that it was time to go and gather her things for Erica's treatment. Crystal just shook her head and sighed, before getting up and leaving the lab to head for the transport location.

Oh I know, do we have a general map or idea of how the four nations are located in relation to one another? Or is that going to just be semi assumed instead of detailed out? For example I'm assuming that to some extent they aren't in the same solar system like say Earth and Mars are. But yet they are close enough that travel between them isn't too time consuming. Or something like that. Regardless I'm ready for that first mission! ^_^

User Names: Because Repeat Threads Are Good For You!
Aaryanna replied to SunfallE's topic in General Discussion
My user name is simple. It?s the name of my Bichon and also my avatar and signature banner. [Well when I'm not sporting an avatar/banner set for the OtakuBoards Survivor RP I'm in] Though I've got links to my Bichon avatar/banner in my signature since you can't have two at the same time. :p Anyway, when I was first thinking of what to use I decided on my dogs's name since I love my dog and I wanted to have a Bichon themed avatar and signature set. I chose it because in the end, even though I love anime and other fun names from them, in the end I love my dog more. ^_^ I only belong to OtakuBoards and myOtaku but I suppose if I ever get another account somewhere, it will probably be some form of variation of her name as I?m quite fond of it. ^_^ I have no plans to change it because in truth I adore the name. I've always liked to give pets real names, or rather I should say more than a simple name like Spot. Plus Aaryanna is pretty. So I definately do not plan on changing it. I like it too much to do that. ^_^ -

Hahaha! Check out the attached screencap. I totally missed this the first time around (okay, and the second time, too). Meh, I just realized that I didn't really explain what I meant by one grounding and centering their shields. It's simple really, someone who has a talent essentially finds the center focal point for that within their own mind. They then build their shields up from that point. The result is a much tighter shield, better control and more importantly, when attacked that 'grounding' acts a lot like a lightening rod would. Diverting part of the actual attack away from it's intended target. Hope that makes sense. If not just say so and I'll try to clarify more. Though you'll probably get it Stephanie since the concept is similar to what is done in Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series. XP But still the whole idea indifference and I had was that Vanyel didn't know how to properly build a shield in the first place which is why she had trouble figuring out how to lower it. She had simply built a wall without any foundation so to speak.
-
"All right, come and take a seat," Tasha motioned to Vanyel, encouraging her to sit on the same rock. Once she had done so Tasha held her right hand out. "Now take my hand. I'm going to simply let you see how it's done by having you watch me lower my shield okay?" She waiting patiently for Vanyel to finally put her hand in hers. "Now close your eyes and watch. Even if you can't lower your barrier, if you allow your mind to follow the physical connection from my hand you'll be able to see what I'm doing." Tasha waited until she felt Vanyel attempt to see into her mind and then with slow deliberation she lowered the shield. Smiling inwardly at the tiny start of surprise form Vanyel. Just as I thought, Tasha told her. You don't know how to ground or center your shields. Now look into yourself and do what I just did. She watched as Vanyel tried to do what she did and then hesitated at the last moment when she realized what it would mean. Yes, that's correct, the moment you lower that shield you will not be able to put it back up. Trust me, it won't matter. The new psychic shield will temporarily work to shield both until I show you how to ground and center your own talent. But more importantly, without the other barrier, picking up on the new technique will be far easier. Vanyel started to pull away and stopped. But what if I can't learn how to ground and center? Tasha felt her shudder in fear of being back in the position of hearing others thoughts without being able to turn it off. And without meaning to she caught just what that fear was from the rush of emotion from Vanyel, before Vanyel ruthless crushed it. At the last second Tasha caught herself from showing her surprise, keeping her startled thought private. Gods, no wonder she's afraid of lowering her barrier... Tasha took a deep breath, please just do it. I promise, if you can't get the barrier back up I'll help you shield other thoughts out until you do. For a long moment she thought Vanyel was going to back out and then finally she did it, her shields collapsing completely. And for one moment Tasha caught a glimpse of her mind without meaning too, startling her yet again. Now go and touch the stone, quickly! She watched as Vanyel stumbled to the stone, her own thoughts in turmoil as she kept her next thought private. Gods, I wonder if she even realizes what she's capable of doing. A thought that was confirmed as minutes later Vanyel managed to snap a psychic shield in place, it was fairly weak and it was extremely difficult for her to do so, something that Tasha could clearly see as moments later she took it down. But at the same time as Vanyel came back over and sat down she couldn't help but smile. "There you see? Now it's only a matter of practice until you can maintain that barrier at any time, as well as making it stronger." Tasha motioned to the rock again. "Now lets start on grounding and centering your other shield shall we? Thanks to the instructions for the psychic shield it should be much easier since it's very similar." She waited for Vanyel to take a seat again, once again taking her hand. Until she grasped her power a little better, that physical contact would make it easier for Vanyel to see mentally what she was trying to show her. It took several hours, but finally Vanyel grasped the concept. Pulling her hand free and simply sitting on the rock, ignoring that she was soaked to the skin. "Hell, even if that did work, I can't even come close to blocking things out like I did before." "Don't worry about it." Tasha said reassuringly. "Now that you've got them properly grounded and centered, this time building the shield up will be more permanent. And with the foundation being firmly in place, in time, no one will be able to get into your mind unless you wish it." Vanyel smiled at the thought of being able to shut everyone out. "Thank you." Tasha just smiled some more. "You're welcome. Now I suggest practicing some more or resting a bit while everyone else is practicing their shield as well." But Vanyel surprised her by simply stretching out on the rock in spite of the rain and simply falling asleep. That is until she remembered what she had caught from her mind, what a hard life she's had. Something that baffled her since Tasha had never done without, had never had to... She shook her head and simply got up and left her lying there, keeping an eye on her while she slowly looked around. And then while continuing to sort of keep an eye on Vanyel she continued practicing the psychic shield for herself.

If you are thinking that 2ch meant second season, then you have much to learn, my friend XD. Anyway, 2ch is '2 channel' or basicaly the biggest anime community on the internet in Japan. In america, we have '4chan' based on it. 4chan is the epitomy of evil XD
*poke* read my post about getting into anime. :p I've only been into it starting a few years ago, and the few times I've heard the phrase 2ch, it was an abbreviation for second chapter/season. No matter, I'm learning. And yes, you're right 4chan is evil. lol :catgirl:

Well I've only seen one episode of this, since I've only found one that is fan subbed in English. Heh, but still. I can't wait for more. Not only did I love how the animation is done and the pointless conversation between Itoshiki Nozomu and Fuura Kafuka in the sense that it doesn't matter how
negative he is, she either misses it or has an explanation for it.
But the whole atmosphere with the students in general is great. Like the one girl who got upset that Fuura Kafuka's socks were not lined up exactly. lol I wasn't sure what to make of all those censor bubbles, those were weird. But still, I just died laughing at how that baseball cap was such a tragedy to Itoshiki Nozomu. I was sitting there the whole time thinking what the hell? LOL! Anyway, I'll be looking for the second episode of this since I enjoyed it. Oh and I'm sure I'm not the only one who found it ironic how the teacher had them fill out
their despairs instead of hopes.

And is it just me or is Konata becoming a bit more bizarre with each episode? At first she seems so serious but it's like she's got personality quirks just barely kept in check, waiting for the right moment to spring out. lol
Oh I agree. It's like she's always been weird and they just keep springing more of her funny personality on you as each episode is aired. lol
1. What's your favorite ending? 2. Favorite reference to an anime/event/game/manga/etc? 3. Favorite character/s and why you like him/her/it/them? 4. For those who are into 2ch and Nico Nico Douga or the videos they post up on YouTube, what's your favorite Lucky Star parody? This also includes dance videos of Motteke! Sailor Fuku and stuff.
Hmmm... the ending or the Lucky Channel? Since I like that Lucky Channel with Akira more than I do the actual ending. And my favorite so far was the first one. Where Akira got
cranky and reached into her shirt a bit to scratch herself.
That totally cracked me up. lol Favorite reference, that I actually caught, was in the third episode. The Wedding Peach and Detective Conan reference. :catgirl: Oh and the Initial D one was pretty funny too. Favorite character is definitely Konata. I love her zany personality and how she's such an otaku and hard core gamer. That and for whatever reason she totally comes across as how I've always pictured Desbreko. That alone made her instantly lovable. I haven't gotten to the second season yet. So that last question doesn't apply to me.

It's 100% SunfallE's fault. I tend to read books more than I ever watch TV, even now I don't bother with any channel that broadcasts anime shows. Like Cartoon Network or Adult Swim. I do watch them occasionally, but never regularly. lol But after SunfallE got me to watch Pretear and some other stuff I started borrowing her DVD's and Mariskah's until I'd seen quite a bit. And even though I still rarely watch regular tv. I do check out whats in the on demand section of my cable service each week. As well as seeing if either of my friends have any new DVD's I can convince them to loan me. Oh and I've discovered fan subs so I've been checking out new shows that way. I'm all for watching anime without all the commercials. ^_^

And I love Louise's long, flowing, pink hair. Forget the fanservice, that hair is just too pretty. :animenose
Hehe, that pretty pink hair of hers makes all the obvious stuff worth while. ^_^ And forgetting the fan service, which I did not care for, it was fun to watch. :catgirl: It wasn't my favorite series by any stretch of the imagination, but after a while I probably wouldn't mind watching it again. Since it was in some places quite funny. That and I'd probably watch it again if only for that
love potion episode.
That was awesome. lol
