Other than to take the normal precautions, there's not a lot one can do. So I opt to not worry over it. Even if I did, it would change nothing. o_O If it spreads, it does. I suppose I should feel worried over it, but I just don't see the point in doing so when it changes nothing.

o_O Well I knew people didn't like the speed cameras but wow, talk about over reacting. In the long run, spending time in prison for murder is going to limit you more than not speeding ever did. And even if you did get a ticket, paying the fee is still nothing compared to being responsible for taking another person's life.

Now, I'm wondering, what exactly are the bounds for child pornography? In my mind, I picture young kids (between 3-10 years old) being forced to do sexual acts. But this girl took pictures supposedly by her own volition. If you willingly take nude pictures of yourself, I think that you should be fully aware that they may be distributed. Teens make that mistake that they won't be published to others.
You'd think they'd be smart enough to realize doing something that dumb could backfire on them and yes I agree, if you hand them out, you should be prepared to accept the consequences of doing so.
This kid had to register as a sex offender in Florida. According to the story, Florida keeps a public database on the internet of registered sex offenders. So now his reputation is pretty much shot down the drain for sending nude pictures of his GF to others in a fit of rage.
I think forcing him to register as a sex offender is taking it too far. Sure he shouldn't have done something so utterly stupid, but that's not the same as someone deliberately exploiting someone else.
But I think that "sexting" is a rather common act and many kids do it, it's just a matter of who gets caught and who doesn't. Even adults send each other less than tasteful texts and photos, so it's not like this is a rare instance.
Of that I have no doubt. I know many people who do it and think nothing of it. That's something I want no part of. Adults don't really factor into this, in my opinion. They are adults after all. I still think it's dumb but that's not the same in my mind.
So now I pose the discussion. Should pictures of minors, even taken by their own volition be constituted as child pornography? Should registered sex offenders be forced to wear "scarlet letters" by having their names put on a public database? When is the earliest age that minors could/should be prosecuted for sex crimes?
It's going to depend on the case and actual age of the person who took the image. Minors are considered incapable of fully understanding the consequences of their actions, so just cause they think it's okay, doesn't mean it actually is. I say this as a minor myself btw. I do agree with what others have said, that the sex offender list is going too far. Their are other options like requiring them to take a class and write an essay on why it's wrong. Though by wrong, I would see that as being legally incapable of giving consent. I guess the best age to go by would be age of consent or when one is actually considered legal. I'm not sure. Well when I went out to lunch with my sister and my mom, the waiter kept forgetting to bring out part of my sister's order. We must have reminded him like six times and yet he kept forgetting. It worked out in the end though. The waiter wrote something on our ticket and her meal ended up being free. Plus she finally got what he forgot in a take home box.

I thought LoZ: Ocarina of Time was super scary. Those undead things? Scared me to death. Writing The Otaku Prose Contest Round 2 (Anomaly VS. Shy)
Aaryanna replied to Mykul's topic in Creative Works
Hmmmm, I'll vote. It's hard to pick since they both have nice tones of hope, love and expectation. There was only one thing I didn't care for and that was the bit of despair in Shy's. It just distracted a bit from the happy ending. So since that threw me off a tiny bit, I'll be giving my vote to Anomaly. They were both fun to read guys. :catgirl: -

There is no topic, so therefore this thread can never go off-topic.[/b']
This reminds me of the thread where you could ask any question and someone could answer it or pose their own question. What does Otaku mean? The dictionary is your friend. What do Otaku do to be an Otaku? See number one. What does it mean to you to be an Otaku? Nothing, I am not one. How do you think other fan communities (e.g., sports fans, gamers, etc). view Otaku? I think most people just ignore it. What differentiates Otaku from other types of fans? The only thing that differs for fans is what they are a fan of. Do you think there is a difference between Otaku that cosplay, as opposed to fans that paint their bodies and stand out in zero-degree weather to support their favorite team? Not really. How are Otaku portrayed by mass media? Any one who is too obsessive over anything is usually negatively portrayed. Just look at the image posted already. XD What do your family and friends say about your Otaku activities? Nothing since I don't have Otaku hobbies or tendencies. =P

Victoria Ann held onto the small envelope that had the slip of paper with a copy of the symbols drawn on it. Edith had given it to them shortly before the steamcar had arrived from Achard Hall to take them to the State Library. Victoria Ann had paid little attention to their surroundings as the car took them there; both of them had been checking out the symbols on the paper in an attempt to determine what they were. There was something oddly familiar about them and Victoria couldn?t shake the feeling that she had seen something similar elsewhere. In fact, she was positive that she had seen them before. When the steamcar came to a halt in front of a huge multi story building, she tucked the paper back into the envelope and then carefully put it in her pocket. Victoria Ann let herself out of the car as Gustave talked to the driver. ?Did you want me to wait for you here sir?? The driver asked. Gustave climbed out and closed the back door before addressing the driver who had the front window down. ?I?m not sure how long we?ll be so you may as well head back for now. I?ll call the house when we?re ready to go back.? ?Very good sir.? He replied. The window rolled up and moments later the steamcar had left to head back to Archard Hall. Victoria Ann pulled out her little pocket watch and looked at it. ?It will be dinner time in a few hours.? She tilted her head to the side a bit as she looked up at Gustave. ?What will we do for dinner?? Gustave smiled, ?Just you wait and see.? Puzzled, she followed him up the long set of stairs leading to the entrance of the State Library. There were sets of metal railings so many feet apart, and she ran her hand along one of them lightly as she hurried up the steps to the massive wooden doors. The entire building couldn?t have been much bigger than CHAOS, aside from being three stories high instead of two, and she wondered how Edith thought it was possible for the place to even have what they needed to look up the symbols. The library back in High Czenoble was much bigger, nearly twice as big. Gustave opened the door and she stepped inside. There was a massive counter up against the closest wall with multiple staff working behind it. The one on the left seemed to be helping people with checking out some books where the one in the middle, a stately older woman dressed in a smart gray dress, was helping someone with directions. There was a third one on the right who was talking to people and then writing something down on a little notepad that she had. There were only three people there now, but it looked like it could easily accommodate a dozen staff at need. Along the left wall there was a set of stairs that went both up and down, and to the sides of the counter there were glass doors leading into what looked like sections with rows and rows of books. It took Victoria a moment to realize that it was open all the way up where they were standing. There were walkways along the outer edge and she could see people quietly moving along with books in their hands. ?Wow, that?s pretty cool how it?s open like this inside.? She observed. ?How come the stairs go down though? Is that for the staff?? Gustave shook his head. ?No, there is a small section at the rear that is for the staff. The floors underground are part of the main library.? ?Why?? She shivered slightly at the thought. ?If they?re below ground, then there won?t be any windows.? ?Exactly. Some of the oldest books and treasures need to be protected from stray sunlight. Only special lights are allowed down there.? ?Oh, okay. That makes sense.? She glanced over to the right and then stared in amazement. ?Is that a restaurant? In a library?? She pointed to the section that was floor to ceiling glass with tables situated behind it. There were people in there and she could see servers walking among them with trays in their arms. She had never heard of a restaurant inside of a library. ?That?s right. There is a special section built along the side for the kitchens too.? Gustave seemed to be enjoying her wide eyed expression of disbelief. ?But why would they have something like that in a library?? It didn't make sense. "Aren't they worried about the food hurting the books?" He smiled as he explained it to her, slowly walking over to the woman behind the counter at the right. ?First of all, no books are allowed inside and you can't bring any food into the main library. So there's no danger of anyone damaging the books. In the beginning it used to be a little coffee shop since so many students would spend hours and hours here to do research for their studies. Over the years it gradually expanded and then about five years ago, a new section was built and added to accommodate the increase in business.? Victoria Ann stared at him for a moment. ?You must have a lot of students then.? ?We do. Lumière Academy has students coming here from all over the globe to study the arts. Even children from Czenovia come here to study.? He stopped just in front of the counter where the woman on the right was standing. Gustave turned and pointed to the middle of the glass doors leading into the restaurant. ?If you look closely, you can see that there is an outside balcony with tables as well. When the weather is warm you can have your food outside. It overlooks one of the city gardens and the view when the sun sets is spectacular.? He turned back so he was facing the counter. ?I?m going to make reservations for dinner and then we?ll start looking for those symbols.? ?Okay.? Victoria Ann waited while he talked to the woman behind the counter. It was clear she knew who he was and a moment later she had written something down on her little notepad. Victoria Ann assumed it was their names. ?Right,? Gustave said as he came back over to where Victoria was patiently waiting. ?Now, if I remember correctly, all of the books for ancient languages is stored in one of the lower floors.? ?How many floors are there?? Victoria asked as they started walking towards the stairs. There was a huge wooden plaque on the wall with a listing of what could be found on each floor. She looked at the list. ?Seven floors total?? If there was really four underground, then that made the library a lot bigger than the one in High Czenoble. It didn?t have any underground levels, just the one for staff. ?That?s right, seven known levels.? Gustave said with a smile. ?It?s rumored that there are secret chambers that even the staff don?t know about.? Victoria stared at him before following along as they started down the stairs. ?You?re making that up." She finally said when he gave her an amused glance. "How could the staff not know about all of the rooms?? Gustave laughed at her serious expression. ?I promise I?m not making it up. Remember how there are tunnels under High Czenoble?? ?Well yeah, but those were caused by mining.? ?And they found dangerous things down there right?? He asked her. ?Yes.? She had heard about the cannon built by the Xear that the UnderDogs had used. ?But that doesn?t explain how there could be hidden chambers here; unless your country mined under the city here too. Or do you have natural tunnels?? The echo of their footsteps became more pronounced the further they went down the stairs. Victoria Ann wondered if anyone was even down in the lower two floors. Since they had left the first two and started on the third set, she hadn?t seen anyone else. ?No, we didn?t mine under Le Monde and there aren't any natural caves or tunnels. The story is that when the library was first built, special chambers to protect the most precious of books and artifacts were made. Over time they either forgot about them or perhaps built shelves in front of the entrances since no one can confirm if they?re real or not.? ?Why don?t they try and find them then?? ?Most people think it's just a fairy tale. Also, because you can?t just go tearing up walls and shelves to see if there?s something behind them.? ?I bet you looked for them when you were a kid though.? Victoria Ann stared at Gustave accusingly and then grinned when he nodded. ?You didn?t find anything, did you?? ?Nope.? He looked away as they came to the bottom of the stairs. ?And you?ll see why in a moment.? He opened the door leading into the lowest level. There were rows and rows of tall shelves with books interspaced with tables and chairs for study every so often. To the right of the door as they entered was another desk with an elderly lady sitting behind it. She looked up as they entered the room. ?So that?s why,? Victoria whispered. ?You didn?t want to get caught.? She suppressed a giggle at Gustave?s knowing glance. ?Maybe we should show her the symbols, if she works here; she might know what they are.?

I don't see where that comes from at all, but maybe I'm missing something. Several players have been quick to hate her since day one.
Victoria Ann hates any adult drama. She would have reacted the same for any member of the family. However, it's been three years now, she'll be a bit distant but that's it. Quotes: The silly, the strange and the questionable
Aaryanna replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion

1.) When I get Yorkie ( in like two years after I wear my boyfriend down about how I want one and small dogs aren't that bad) it will PWN your Bichon (but I will admit Bichon's are cute. One of my friends had one and we called it a Bichon Frizzy because its fur got all weird in the humidity) 2.) Your quote is very funny. And from the look on my brother's dog when ever you walk him by a poodle, it's definately a fact. However not all poodles are insane yip dogs. A co-worker and a resident's daughter both have poodles that they bring in and although the resident's daughter's dog does run around like she's on an expresso fix, they aren't all that annoying.
Well one of my friends has a Yorkie so... no thanks. =P Don't really care for the breed. Plus they're way too tiny. o_O Her dog is half the size of my Bichon. It is cute, but that's about it. As for the poodle bit, I'll answer that when I tackle Solo's post next.
Toy and Miniature Poodles are, anyway. Standard Poodles are gorgeous. The ones I know that are the horrible little yip dogs are what's considered Toy or Miniature. Gosh those things are loud and annoying. I am talking from experience by the way. I've been around them enough to see that they're hyper little things. lol I don't know anyone who has a standard Poodle and I've only seen one a few times. They're definitely huge like you said.
