Anime Animes That need To be Remade , Revised, or Redone
Aaryanna replied to Kenshin DX's topic in Otaku Central
One series I would like to see partially redone is Case Closed. Now the ironic part is I think the animation and actually episodes are done just fine. What I don?t care for is how the initial plot of Conan needing to search for the
Men in Black
may as well not even exist as a huge percentage of the episodes seem to have nothing to do with tracking them down. It?s a toss up as I enjoy the solving mysteries aspect of the show, but I?d like to see a bit more action in regards to what turned him into a
kid in the first place.
I mean there are 458 episodes and 11 movies along with several OVA?s. It just seems like they never intend to provide any type of closure or ending to this show. :animesigh Though if they would just step up the process of bringing more of the episodes to the US I'd probably be happy with just that. I?d love to get a DS but I don?t have any money to pay for one. >_< Still I?ve gotten to play this game since SunfallE let me add a character to her town and it?s wonderfully addicting. I like it better than the game cube version. Well other than watering the flowers that is, I like to plant them, I just don?t like to water them. What I like is how you can try to talk to your neighbors when they are already chatting with someone as you get to hear what they are talking about. And sometimes they include you in the conversation as well. I also like how you shoot the present down instead of hoping it will land in a tree. I?ve gotten pretty good at running up to the top of the town to shoot the item down. In fact I shot down a Golden Sling shot today. ^_^ Which is pretty nifty since when you shoot it
the thing sends out three rocks making it easier to hit stuff. I also found out that you can shoot the mail bird out of the sky! I didn?t mean to hit him! >_<
It was pretty funny though. ^_^ Now all SunfallE needs to do is get a wireless adaptor so I can pester her into letting me have visitors or to go and visit someone else?s town. Well other than Mariskah's town that is. I do like how you can visit someone if you are in the same room. ^_^

Maybe I should just copy and paste what indifference said as I agree. This whole thing is nothing more than a bunch of religious people trying to force their moral values on others. Why else would they be concerned about someone in that age group having sex or kids? And honestly, it?s really none of their business. If they want to have sex and kids without being married, it?s their choice to make. At this point they are old enough to make that decision.

It seems some of you are ignoring the post where I said I was sorry for being rude. :animesigh By no means do I think the girl shouldn?t be punished for what happened. Regardless of what drove her to it, she is still responsible for killing another human being. And whether that punishment is life in prison (I understand they are going to see if they can try her as an adult) or being locked up in a mental hospital as I also understand she has been placed in one until the trial, I definitely think she shouldn?t get away with it. I guess even though I feel bad for the family that lost the mother, I still feel bad for the girl too as she has to live with what she did and with what ever was upsetting her in the first place. I can only imagine what would drive someone to do stupid and irrational actions like she did. This whole thing is a mess and honestly I don?t understand why people would want to die in the first place. >_<

A game I think should be an anime is Tales of Symphonia. I have heard rumors about one, but no one I know has heard anything about it.
You heard correctly, they are making one. ^_^ Here's a link with info on that: Tales Of Symphonia Anime I know I'm looking forward to seeing it! One I would like to see is Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the cursed king. It already has a wonderful storyline and well developed characters. And the whole storyline along with magic and an evil
lord of darkness
would really fit the anime format. It's almost like an anime tale that was turned into a game so I'm thinking it would be easy to make an anime of it. ^_^

Well the church here is holding Halloween parties this weekend so I will be going to those. I?ve already got my costume and I?ll even be dressing up my dog and taking her along. ^_^ Then next week I will be doing a combination of trick or treating with friends, as we will be helping take some of the younger kids go around the neighborhood. And then when I get home if kids are still coming around I?ll be answering the door with my dog. Naturally we will be dressed up. ^_^ They told us to not dress up for school, but I?m going to go that way anyway, they can send me home if they like! :p

Gender segregated classrooms? Yay or Nay?
Aaryanna replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Well to be honest I don?t really see the point. Separating kids does them a disservice in my opinion, as life isn?t segregated. Unless they are in a very specific job, for the most part they are always going to be around the opposite sex and keeping them apart just interferes with them learning how to socialize with other people. The idea that they think and learn differently is stupid as well. For one thing, being around someone who sees things ?differently? you are being opened to new ways of thinking and solving problems. And I?m sure that there isn?t a set way of thinking that only applies to guys or only applies to girls. I would imagine that you could find members of both sexes that think in the same way when learning. As for the garbage about equal opportunities, I don?t buy that for a second. For the same reason I just stated. By exposing kids to different learning styles you are increasing their opportunities where the other is assuming that if you are a guy or a girl you can?t learn or think in a certain way, so they are limiting you before you have even begun. It sounds more like they are worried about the kids being exposed to the opposite sex because they don?t want them to have relationships or sex for that matter. The whole thing sounds like it?s driven by religion or any other group that is worried about teens having sex than any desire to give the kids the best learning environment possible.
I realized that what I first posted was a bit over the top, so allow me to repost it.[/color']
Yeah so was my post, only on the other side of the issue. Sorry. >__< I shouldn?t let it, but this topic always annoys me since I think people are too quick to judge instead of trying to understand why it?s such a problem in the first place. I often wonder just how many people would try to get help if they knew they wouldn?t be ridiculed for feeling like they want to die.
-
Wow, I really think people are overly judgmental here. >_< Do you really think the news is going to paint her in a good light? As much as suicide may be wrong, how many of us even understand the pain behind such a desire to die? I think I?m going to bow out of this one as I think everyone is too busy slamming her instead of bothering to wonder what else is going on. Quite honestly I get tired of hearing how suicide is selfish when it?s often coming from someone who has never suffered. (I don't mean you Panda cause I know what RH does. >_

Not that I think it?s okay that she tried to kill herself and ended up killing someone else instead, but am I the only one who noticed this part of the article?
?Brunstad, who was treated for an ankle injury, had told friends she planned to kill herself after another female student at Holy Innocents Episcopal School refused to have sex with her.?
Not only was she refused by another girl, she was attending a private Episcopal School where being a lesbian is considered a sin. It just gets me wondering how much this kid had to deal with on a regular basis, as I?m sure if anyone knew she was a lesbian, well I'm sure she was given a lot of grief over being that way. I just think there is a lot more to the article than a girl wanting to die because she didn?t get sex. I would imagine it was probably one of many things that happened. And that last one was what drove her over the edge. It makes me sad since if I was the parent and I knew my kid was gay, I wouldn?t send them to a private religious school. That's just asking for trouble in my opinion. :animesigh

And what I'm about to say isn't directed at anyone in this thread, it's just that pisses me off. There's so many people at my school blowing off North Korea as something trivial and too unimportant for the US to deal with. This is possibly the biggest bull I've heard in a while. There are eight countries that haven't signed onto the CWC convention, and the threat they pose cannot be dismissed by claiming their weapons are less sophisticated or that they're too poor to do anything. World leaders and organizations need to be going into those problems now. The whole "the US is world's only superpower lol" attitude is such a ***** for other countries to deal with, and part of the reason Kim is acting up so much is because we haven't been dealing with him properly. North Korean officials don't believe George W. Bush takes them seriously, and I doubt he truly does.
I know you aren?t pointing fingers, but I get a different impression than you do from people?s posts. For starters the original poster was basically saying that North Korea was a terrible threat that needs to be dealt with in a more severe manner than the current talks and sanctions. Which by the way if you read here: Sanctions you can see that the world is taking them seriously and actually doing something about it. The world leaders and organizations are going over the problems and working on a solution. These things take time, they don?t happen immediately. And like my mom said:
Anyway, I still think people are worrying over North Korea too much.
I agree and I think others here agree as well. It is an issue, but it is far from being a total crisis. So I really just don?t see the point in getting worked up over something that isn?t a big issue yet. People aren?t blowing North Korea off, they are simply refusing to panic or get overly upset over something that doesn?t require that type of response yet. What they are doing is working on more peaceful solutions instead of outright going to war with North Korea.

What comes to mind when you think of Australia?
Aaryanna replied to drakkeness's topic in General Discussion
One of the first things I think of is that there are kangaroos there and the funnel web spider. Spiders = Blech! The other thing is I think of the accent the people there have and how cute it sounds. ^_^ Now it also makes me think of the cute couple I met on my recent trip to Yellowstone National Park. They were from Australia and not only did they have that cute accent, they were very nice and friendly. It was their first time to visit America so they were pretty excited about it. Oh and one other thing, I always think, that?s where James lives! :catgirl: -
This game makes me wish I had a DS Lite. >_< Especially since SunfallE let me borrow hers and play the first and second case over the weekend. It was so wonderfully wacky and cheesy and the music from how it?s calm to slowly increasing in pace as you go through the trial is just so funny! And all of the characters expressions through out the process and what Phoenix is thinking when he questions them is just too hilarious! And Edgeworth, he?s such a funny character as well. I especially loved how you could press the witnesses with a hold it or objection to either get more clarification or to present evidence as the results were so fun to watch. It?s definitely going to be one of the first games I get when I finally get a DS Lite. :catgirl:

=) True, true. I don't think I missed the point though; I realize that when you translate, you're going to get a lot of different versions. I just wanted to also point out that WK doesn't have Japanese titles, per se. There's a lot of (or just too much) German in this show. I apologize if I sounded snarky. I went back and read what I said and it was like, "ouch," but I definitely didn't mean it that way. >_>
I didn't take it that way, so no worries. ^_~ When you posted I realized that even if I didn't know it was in German first the main point was that the constant translations ends up with multiple titles. And speaking of the show in general, I've gotten to see a couple more episodes and I've really been enjoying it. Even with all the sadness surrounding the characters due to their pasts, it's still fun to see them out wit the bad guys and clobber them just the same. And even more exciting, I just found out that one of my best friends, namely Mariskah, has the series on DVD and so she's going to loan it to me so I can finally see the rest! :catgirl:

I'd hate to see what your idea of long is. o_O It is a tiny bit shorter, but the next one isn't so I don't want to put too much up. Plus new elements are going to be introduced in the next chapter so I'm thinking it would be better to post them separately. ^_~
Hehe, I was thinking the same thing! ^_^ I agree with keeping the next one separate since like you said SunfallE, it does introduce new stuff into the story. Like
new characters for one.
It would have seemed a bit distracting to run the two of them together. And now that I?ve said that, put it up already! :p Oh and I like how you clarified a bit as to why the crystals were so important. I'm fairly certain you didn't clarify that before.

I agree with what DeadSeraphim is saying. If kids who commit crimes aren?t allowed the same rights as adults because they aren?t considered mature enough, then why would we turn around and then prosecute them as if they were an adult? It?s a contradiction to say they aren?t mature and then turn around and say they are when it comes to punishing them for crimes. The problem is that they aren?t adults and lack the necessary maturity and experience with life to make better choices. And as DeadSeraphim also pointed out, juvenile detention usually provides psychiatric help and at least attempt to find out why it happened and to help the kid.

Well this debate has certainly derailed a bit. We?ve gone from wondering if North Korea is a problem to slashing countries for things that happened in the past. o_O I really don?t see the relevance in bringing up past deeds when most of us weren?t even born when they happened. We can argue all we want that this or that was inhumane, but others have already pointed out that war is anything but humane. And though I like the idea of being a pacifist, there are those out there who are not interested in peace unless they are in charge and are calling the shots. If being a pacifist and getting peace was really that easy, we would never have any wars. You can?t make someone else play nice or form a peace treaty if they don?t want to. And now for my opinion on the actual topic? Like others have already mentioned, I really don?t see North Korea as a threat, at least not to the point that we need to be preparing for war or anything like that. Obviously the tests means that on some level they intend to do as they please, but considering how they are a long ways away from being a more real threat, using sanctions or talks is still an option. I don?t think we?ve reached the no options left point and preparing for war at this stage would be rushing things in my opinion.

I?m not sure I understand why people get upset over someone else having plastic surgery. For one thing, they pay for it themselves so it?s not like taxes or other revenue that comes out of your pocket is paying for it. Sure it?s a permanent change, but so are getting things like tattoos. You can reverse both of them, but at a cost, though plastic surgery I?m sure is harder to reverse than getting rid of a tattoo. As a society we do all sorts of things every single day that alter our appearance, we wear make up, clothes, jewelry and all sorts of things that change our appearance on a regular basis. The only big difference I see here is that this is a change that is more permanent. And in all honesty, doesn?t really affect you at all. If I were to have my nose changed, your life would continue and not be impacted by it. (Not that I?m going to do that, I?m just using myself as an example) Besides how DeadSeraphim mentioned some women get breast implants also brings to mind how I?ve seen shows where women who were very full figured had reductions. How can we fault them for wanting something like that? In one case, the woman was so full figured that just wearing a bra gave her a backache. >_< And she wasn?t fat or had other issues, so changing that aspect of her appearance not only made her feel better about herself, but did away with the simple act of wearing clothes being uncomfortable. So though it?s something I do not plan on doing, I see no reason why others can?t. I may think it?s a bit stupid to try and look younger than you are by having plastic surgery to remove all the wrinkles when you are much older, but then I would have to say people who dye their hair to cover up the gray are stupid too as it?s the same principle. Or what about those who use cosmetics to help reduce wrinkles on their face? Should we condemn them too for trying to alter their appearance? I guess I just don?t understand why people care if others have plastic surgery.

indifference[/b'], I'm pretty sure he didn't mean a lack of people in the 'Who's Online?' section, but more a lack of amount of posts (posts equal activity on a message boards, pretty much). Which is understandable because this time of year, people actually act like they have lives outside OtakuBoards (you can act all you want, but you can't fool me).
Even if they didn't mean that I know when that switched it threw me off at first as I was wondering why there was so few people online. ^_~ It didn't take me long to figure it out but I was what the heck? lol Anyway, I would imagine that like Dagger already said it just varies a lot. And like indifference also mentioned, those of us who are back in school again, have less time for being online. And with that note...I'm off to do my homework. ^_^

Welcome to OtakuBoards Zetsu Please work on your post quality and put more of a emphasis on discussion since here at OtakuBoards we try to have quality discussion in all of our forums. For example you could have take the time to explain the pros and cons of all the characters and then explain why you would choose one of them as being better or more hot. Simply listing a bunch of anime guys and asking which is better is spam. So due to the spammy nature of this thread I am going to close it. Also the Anime Lounge works under a system known as one thread per anime, so if you wish to discuss anything related to Naruto just check the directory at the top of the forum for the show you want to talk about. That way the forum is less confusing since having dozens of threads about the same show would be a bit chaotic. If you still are unclear on the rules and such look on the left hand side of the forum and look at the Rules and FAQ. Also please take a look at the IMPORTANT how to post in the Anime lounge sticky at the top of this forum to see more ways on how to post in the anime lounge. One more thing, please do not post where a sentance is all in caps. On the Internet that is the same is if you are shouting. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed

I?ve been meaning to post again as now my most recent purchase is the first Kingdom Hearts game. I?ve had it for close to two weeks now and though I?ve tried to love it I just don?t. >_< It?s fun and I have enjoyed playing it, but I haven?t just been sucked into it as it just seems like it?s relying too much on Disney?s past popularity with characters and such. The game play is nice and the storyline is kind of fun. So I?m not sure why I?m not totally loving it. Meh, at least I?m enjoying it enough that I don?t feel like I?ve wasted my money on it, and who knows? Once I beat it and get the second game, maybe it will be more fun than the first one. ^_^

Welcome to Otakuboards Chiyo Chan Fan, However since we already have a Thread on Azumanga Daioh I am going to redirect you to it here. If you do not see the thread that you are looking for just take a quick look at the Official Threads Directory located at the top of the forum, you can also do a quick search for it as well. Also please take a moment to review the Rules and FAQ located on the left sidebar of the forum as we have pretty high standards when it comes to posting. For example you could have told us a little about the show and why you think it's cute and funny. You could have also taken the time to explain which one of the characters was your favorite and why. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed

Aaryanna - All the Weiß titles are in German, so there couldn't be a translation from Japanese to German. It would have to be from German to Japanese.
You missed the point of my post. Which was that because of a show being translated into different languages, you end up with different title names. Regardless of which language it may have started in. ^_~

I don?t really drink soda as it tends to make me feel wired. Occasionally I?ll have some sprite or root beer, but rarely more than twice a month. I don?t really eat candy either as it too makes me feel wired. And like indifference mentioned. Sugar shock! Some of it?s so sweet that it?s kind of gross. The one thing I do love is the crunchy cheetos. And I do like to occasionally have the double stuff Oreos. Though usually one small bag of either one is enough that I?m not interested in them again for a while. I guess when it comes right down to it I?m not really into junk food. I would guess it?s because not only is my mom diabetic but I?m hypoglycemic myself, so I?ve always grown up eating pretty healthy. So most junk food tastes kind of gross to me. Oh and one other exception, I love candy corn. Though by the time Halloween is over I?m usually sick of it too.

I also think cartooning in america leads to marketing products too often, while anime seems more for arts sake.
Actually anime is probably marketed even more than American stuff is. I?ve seen everything from stationary to a series to wall scrolls, snacks, T-shirts, caps, key chains, accessories, bag and wallet sets, calendars, phone cards, stickers, patches, pins, buttons, lighters, pens, necklaces, rings. Etc. The list goes on and on. Don?t believe me? Take a look here: Anime Stuff My aunt use to live in Okinawa and the stuff you get there in the stores was extremely commercialized. I could go on with the capsule toys, trading figures, candy toys?all from different anime series just waiting for you to purchase them. LOL! Anime like any other industry is out to make money, not just to produce art. If they couldn?t make a living off of it, they wouldn?t do it. Also, I read this in the JETRO Japan Economic Monthly, June 2005:
Character merchandising is a growing category. Licensers, such as production companies and investors, obtain fees from licensees who use characters to create products. Licensees in fields including, finance, toys, automobiles, airlines, food and others employ anime character dolls/figurines and the characters themselves as corporate or product mascots. Anime?s value has thus appreciated as a promotional tool. This is why toy and game manufacturers are increasingly working with advertising agencies to plan anime production.
So just like any show from the very beginning often they plan the creation of the show and all the nifty stuff they are going to sell as well. Definitely not just for the sake of art, unless you consider making money an art. ^_~
