Well first of all I?ve never really played any Yu-Gi-Oh games so I can?t say how this one compares to other games in this series. But so far I?ve found it to be interesting to play on a strategy level. For starters you are drawn back into a 15th century civil war for the English throne and in this case the war is being fought with cards. So you either choose to fight for Yugi or for the other side. Both choices lead to different opponents and different cut-scenes along the way. The game play appears simplistic but once you get going there are a lot of different factors involved, such as terrain affecting your cards ability to move and it?s strength. There is also the means of combining cards together, so there is really a lot going on. The choice of music is a bit repetitive and the graphics not so great, but it does let you change it from a full view of the battle between each card or to not view them at all. So if you are curious to see how they animated one attack but not another you can easily toggle between each setting during the battle. Otherwise I would find having to put up with the animation each and every time annoying. It also gives you the option to duel yourself so you can gain experience for your cards and get new cards from the graveyard slot machine. Though I find that concept a bit annoying as I?d rather have the option to choose instead of trying to get what I want. Battling yourself is a good way to go as most decks are a bit pathetic when it comes to trying to beat your enemies. Though once you?ve beaten them you can fight them as many times as you want to get more cards. Provided you win that is. Then once you win the game you get a code to enter for a new card and you can start over and battle the next person. Another great feature is that you can trade cards with someone else by having them insert their memory card into your console. So it makes getting new and different cards easier as you aren?t limited to what you yourself get. Anyway, overall I?ve been enjoying this game as I like to use the cards in my deck to build up power and then wipe out the enemy. So it?s fun to put in occasionally and play just to clobber the opponent, even if I?m battling the system which usually has the same deck I do. I think to get a different deck you have to have someone else?s memory card in there. I?ve yet to try that one. The only aspect I didn?t care for is the setup for dueling a friend. Unless I?m misunderstanding the system, it?s poorly set up as you are both looking at the same screen so they can see your cards and you theirs. So who else has played this and what do you think of it?

Hehe I did what you are talking about indifference and having the upgraded weapons makes a big difference. Especially now that I?m past the big game spoiler so to speak and the enemies have gotten a lot harder. I think without the improvements they would have been clobbering me. o_O So now I?m in
4D space and I?m currently revisiting the other worlds to get stuff that I couldn?t the first time.
I have to admit the plot twist was a surprise as I was really falling for the
religious twist with the executioners and such so to find out you were a computer character was unexpected.
Anyway, right now I?m working on a bonus dungeon on Elicoor II before I move onto the next phase. On another note I saw this about the game over at Amazon among the reviews for the game. o_O
At first, I thought this game rocked. The graphics were cool, the story was amazing, the battles are good. But then,as the game continued, I started to notice one thing: this game has some allusions that would be offensive to anyone who believes in God. The main conflict of the game centers around an armageddon-like event, where the creator of the universe decides to annihilate everyone because "we" (people in Star Ocean universe) had delved into forbidden science. Now, here's the part where I find offensive: Your ultimate goal in this game is to defeat the Creator of the universe, i.e, the one civilizations in this universe would call God. One of the enemies you will face in this game is the angel Gabriel. Need I say more? Maybe I'm being overtly sensitive... but to me, the idea of killing God is something I would not even want to entertain. If you believe in God, and are considering purchasing this game for yourself or your kids, don't.
Talk about taking a game too seriously! I about died laughing when I read that review. How did you come up with your internet/screen name ?
Aaryanna replied to corpseman's topic in General Discussion
My user name is simple. It?s the name of my Bichon and also my avatar and signature banner. When I was first thinking of what to use I decided on her name since I love my dog and I wanted to have a Bichon themed avatar and signature set. I chose it because in the end, even though I love anime and other fun names from them, in the end I love my dog more. ^_^ I only belong to OtakuBoards and myOtaku but I suppose if I ever get another account somewhere, it will probably be some form of variation of her name as I?m quite fond of it. ^_^ -
Here are some I made that are more on the abstract side. ^_^ If you haven't already decided on one that is. Welcome to OtakuBoards sweet~chan18 Please work on your post quality and put more of a emphasis on discussion since here at OtakuBoards we try to have quality discussion in all of our forums. For example you could have take the time to explain the pros and cons of all the shows and then explain why you would choose one of them as being better. Simply listing some shows and asking which is better is spam. So due to the spammy nature of this thread I am going to close it. Please take a moment to review the Rules and FAQ located on the left side of the forum. Also please take a look at the IMPORTANT how to post in the Anime lounge sticky at the top of this forum as it explains how things work in the Anime Lounge. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed

Interesting. I would have never thought of fish as being the Universal dish of Earth. I was thinking it would be things like bread, beans or rice. Stuff that is grown pretty much everywhere. Bread because of wheat and the others seem like they would have been a staple of people?s diets as well. I also would have thought that eggs were used pretty much everywhere too. Especially since even though fish are everywhere, not everyone has the means to actually get them. As for everyone having a fish, yup I?m guilty. ^_~ I?ve even been fishing and caught my own rainbow trout! And when you catch it yourself and fix it the same day it?s very, very tasty! ^_^

Yup, so long as it's there before the deadline I'm cool with editing the piece. And if you're looking for fonts, I highly reccommend DaFont.[/FONT']
Thank you! ^_^ And thanks for the link. It?s the same one that SunfallE gave me. I?ve used her computer to make stuff and now I know where she got her cool fonts from! Now my only problem is I just spent a while downloading stuff from that site and I ended up adding over a hundred new fonts to my computer! o_O And I?m not even done looking through the site! Hehe, now my only problem will be deciding which one I like as there were so many! ^_^ EDIT: Okay my new one is up. I'm much happier with it. The font I had on it before was awful. >_< So I'm glad I could change it. ^_^ Good luck everyone! ^_^
-
Well mine is up, but I have a question. I'm kind of unhappy with the font, but I don't have alot of choices either. >_< But SunfallE gave me a link today to a site with lots of fonts that are free and I was wondering if I saw one I liked could I edit my piece and re-sumit it again so long as it's before the deadline? I'm assuming it's okay, but I wanted to make sure. It's just that the longer I look at that font the more I dislike it. :animesigh

That's easily countered by just saying "I threw it away already... why would I keep it?" And logically, that makes sense; when's the last time you kept a receipt from your last purchase under $20?
I didn't think about it being easily countered by such a statement. But then I've been learning how to keep track of where my money is spent so I keep all my reciepts and write down all of my purchases and keep everything organized by month. >_< I take it from your response that most people don't do that? Though I was mostly thinking from the standpoint that the reciept would prove that they bought it from a place the girl hasn't been too since she was saying it was several hours away where she and her sister went. But I guess that's a he said she said sort of thing right?
-
Well taking into account everything that has happened, is it possible that your sister still has the receipt for the whale she gave you? You could take that and go to the girl?s parents and explain what happened. If they don?t believe you show them the receipt and ask them to get their daughter to show them her receipt for buying it. It?s a given that she won?t have one. Since they know she has a habit of stealing they are probably going to believe you. And in all honesty do you really want to maintain a friendship where the other person has no problem stealing from you? If she was really your friend she would never have taken it. Even if you accidentally left it a real friend would have just given it back to you. If you talk to her parents and she apologizes and gives it back I would give her another chance. If it turns out bad then like others have said, it sounds like she?s not someone you want to be friends with anyway.

I?m in agreement with Boo. You?re a meanie White! It was hard to not do something to the picture as I so wanted to clean it up a bit and enhance the colors a little. >_< Anyway, I?m sure Kitty is going to clobber me but here?s mine just the same. The much smaller brushes were a part of my program but the abstract background is completely composed of brushes I made myself. ^_^ Now I just need to find a site where I can get more fonts that you don?t have to pay for as I didn?t like any of my choices. Anyway, best of luck to everyone! ^_^ EDIT: I updated my link since the last one kept having trouble loading. :animesigh EDIT#2: Okay here's the replacement. Thanks again for the font link White and SunfallE. ^_^ EDIT#3: Now with the character improvements since White said we could. :catgirl: Between downloading the new fonts, making brushes and changing things...I've spent a lot of time on this. o_O Now I know why people have said they don't have time for contests. I had no idea they took so much work!

I?m sure I?m not the only one who likes to visit the mall or a store just to look at things. I got to thinking about this since over the weekend SunfallE accidentally broke the food dish for my dog when she knocked something off of the counter onto it. So she took me to Pier One Imports since she knows I love that store to get a new dish for my dog. Even though picking out a new food dish only took a few minutes we then spent close to an hour checking out all the stuff in the store from the furniture, to the dishes to the candles and so on. ^_^ It was great fun! So how many of you go Window Shopping? And if you do what are your favorite types of places to go? For me I love places with lots of fun and different knickknacks like Pier One Imports. I also love to go to bookstores like Borders and just browse through all the new book releases. ^_^ I often take a small notepad with me so I can write down the names of books and authors so I can check the book out the next time I go to the library. And since the Borders here encourages you to sit and leaf through a book if you wish, sometimes I?ll spend a little time checking out the manga?s since they don?t take very long to read. I?ll often check out the first book in a series to see if it?s something I would enjoy. I don?t get to Window Shop very often, but when I do it?s always a lot of fun. Also if you do go is it something you do with your family or with your friends? I often go with both Mariskah and SunfallE to check out a store and sometimes it?s my Mom who takes me. When it?s Mariskah and me we go to the Hallmark store and check out all the cute Christmas ornaments. ^_^ When it?s my Mom we will go to a place like Bath and Body Works and check out all the lotions and soaps. That one?s always fun since they have so many wonderful smelling lotions and stuff.

Ah the getting angry question. Unfortunately I do. I?m a pretty calm person for the most part, but the right thing will get me going. For example when I was younger some kids were making fun of me because my Mom is overweight. She?s only about twenty pounds overweight and the whole thing just royally ticked me off so I beat up the kids who were running around chanting your mom is fat. They had been doing it for a while and I just got sick of hearing it. I knew perfectly well they were just being jerks. But even that was a more minor anger as I really don?t get totally angry very often. Probably the worst time was when I found out this summer that my previous vet had been negligent in regards to my dogs care. You see my dog had absolutely horrible breath and I kept asking him for over a year and a half if something was wrong because usually breath that is worse than normal means something is wrong. I even asked him if she needed her teeth cleaned as I could see that tartar was building up. Well he just handed me a starter kit for brushing dog?s teeth and sent me on my way. Then only two months later one of her teeth came partially out when I was brushing them. So I took her to another vet since they couldn?t see her for another week. Turns out that some of her teeth had been rotting beneath the gums for some time. Which was why her breath was so bad. In the end she lost five of her teeth and I found out that it was completely unnecessary! If the other stupid vet had just examined her properly and listened to my concerns it would have never happened as there was no disease going on. So for the first time in my life I was beyond furious. I was so angry it hurt. So yeah I get angry, but it usually has to be something that?s really upsetting.
-
Well I?ve never experienced having someone I know personally die. But I do know that when I was much younger when our first dog died I felt like the time I knew her was far too short. My mom had adopted her as her former owner took off and got involved in all sorts of things like drugs and such and pretty much abandoned his dog. She was already pretty old so she was only with us for about three years and I remember when she had to be put down that it was sad since three years hardly felt like enough time to get to know her. So I would imagine it?s the same for people who die. On some level we are probably regretting that we didn?t know them as well as we would have liked or rather we didn?t spend as much time with them as we could have. And I think it also reminds us of how everything at one point is going to die. Until that moment I think it?s easy to feel like you are going to live forever and the harsh reality of someone dying makes you feel vulnerable and alone just a bit. As for how to cope, that I really don?t have any ideas. In our case we eventually got a new dog. You can?t get a new human. >_< But you can make new friends or work on appreciating the friends you already have and if you?ve been thinking I should do this with them and haven?t gotten around to it then by all means do. ^_~

Make your own motivation poster! (56k warning! Image heavy!)
Aaryanna replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
All right, time for me to finally post in this thread. Even if I?m the only one who finds my poster funny. ^_~ -

In my vernacular, and in the common use of people around me, "superficial" (in this context) means "caring primarily or only about that which is on the surface." So it's not even possible to be "a little bit superficial," and I think that while the idea behind the question is legit for discussion, the phrasing is not well put.
Well since I looked up the meaning of the word in a dictionary and got this: Superficial-implies a concern only with surface aspects or obvious features. And since I do care about how things on the surface look, I assumed it meant I was a little superficial. o_O But if I?m not understanding it correctly or as to what context it is meant to be used in, then it would seem that I am not superficial after all. I think perhaps I?ll pester my mom later as it seems I don?t completely understand what the word means. ^_~
Aaryaanna, I love you, but you have no idea how much that made me giggle. =][/size']
Well even though you giggled at me?I just have to do this, you know that right? ? *HUG!* ^_~
-
Well like The13thMan said in the very first post I too believe that everyone is a bit superficial. In fact I think a certain level of being superficial is a very healthy thing. We care about having a nice clean appearance or about having a cute hairstyle or about having a clean room or house. It?s not an issue of only caring about how things look, but about caring about yourself enough to feel that taking care of yourself is important. I?m going to use my dog as an example here. I get her bathed and properly dried at least twice a month. Some people, who do not understand the needs of a Bichon, assume that I?m obsessed with how she looks. And though part of me does like having her looking cute and fluffy all the time, the other part knows that Bichon?s are prone to skin infections and the easiest way to prevent them is to keep their skin clean. So it?s a level of superficiality that is a combination of liking the appearance and it being done to ensure the proper care of my dog. So I have no problem admitting that on some level I?m superficial. The only time I feel it?s a problem is when a person becomes so obsessed with appearance that they neglect other aspects of their life. They won?t associate with someone who they think wears ugly clothing or doesn?t have perfect looking hair. Or they make fun of people who are overweight even if they are only slightly pudgy. Like the time someone made fun of me because my mom is a little overweight. And by little I mean about twenty pounds. And I?m superficial enough that such a statement offended me and I got grounded for beating them up for insulting my mom. >_< Though I don?t regret it. As for how people smell. On some level I do care and on some I don?t. Again I?m going to use my dog as an example. On some level she smells like a dog, even when she is clean. And since it?s normal I?ve adapted to it and it doesn?t bother me. One of my friends has severe arthritis and one of the medicines she uses has to be applied to the skin. It smells a little funny, but again it?s something I?ve gotten use to and it doesn?t bother me. If my superficiality was an issue I would not be able to adapt to things that are a little different as I would be obsessed with things looking and smelling perfect. And by perfect I mean at that point what ever I had determined was my idea of being perfect. o_O So yeah I?m superficial, but I don?t think my level of being that way is unhealthy. ^_~

I would agree, a number of the members who start out on the weaker side get some much nicer moves later on. Though I never could bring myself to finish leveling up Roger as his character was just too annoying for my tastes. And I never got around to leveling up Peppita either, so perhaps my next time through I?ll give her character a try.
That's good to know as I wasn't impressed with Maria's attacks or options either. And I agree with you about Roger. He's a cute little guy but his sayings when he levels up and in battle were too cheesy even for me. So when I had the chance to add him I said no since the guide indicated that I had more than one choice. And there are other characters that I like better. Now I just don't know who I intend to go for once the time comes. ^_^ Anyway, now I'm to the point where my party has to beam back down to Elicoor II since the ones who
kidnapped Fayt's father are demanding that you exchange Fayt for his Dad and Sophia. o_O
It could just be me but I'm expecting some weird twist or something at this point. Guess I'll just have to play it to find out. ^_^

Fate, destiny call it what you will...
Aaryanna replied to liveinmybubble's topic in General Discussion
I agree with both Retribution and indifference. I don?t believe in fate or destiny. I don?t think there is something out there that has already determined each and every action that will ever happen. Nor do I think some divine presence is responsible for putting me here either. Mostly because I tend to believe more in things that I can see or that have been proven. And like indifference said, I was taught in church, well when I use to go that is, that we were given free will to make our own choices, so if that?s true it wouldn?t make any sense to turn around and then take that choice away by binding us with fate and destiny. But then I don?t believe in religion so perhaps it?s the fate and destiny that is real. ^_~ Overall I?m not going to lose any sleep over it. It either exists or it doesn?t and nothing I say or do will change that. -
Well mine?s easy as it?s always some form of picture of my dog. ^_^ I always think that one of these days I should do something different, but I can never bring myself to actually do it. And since I have tons of cute pictures of her I keep thinking..Oh! I?m going to use this one next or how about this one and so on. In fact with Halloween coming up I?m thinking of putting a dorky costume on her, getting pictures and making a Halloween themed avatar and banner. ^_^ My custom title is a play on the statement that a Dog is a man?s best friend. I just inserted the word Bichon instead of the word Dog. ^_~ And the part in my signature about Bichon Frise meaning Ball of Fluff is because when you bathe and properly dry a Bichon they look like a giant cotton ball! ^_^ The DailyOtaku link and saying is because reading that thread is what got me thinking about starting a Desbreko fan club and the rest of the link is showing that I?m a fan girl and links to the fan club site. ^_~ The other is just a link to my story, which I am still working on. And the other is just a indication that I?m a member of SIS. ^_^

I feel bad for his family. >_< He was always so fun to watch as he really put a lot of enthusiasm in his work. Combined with his fun accent it made his shows even more great. I also remember the funny spoof movie he did as well. It?s really sad and I?m going to miss seeing new shows by him. So RIP Steve and god bless your family.

Why does anyone like anything?[/color']
That?s exactly what I was thinking. ^_~ As for why I like anime, and I?m not going to say love because though I really enjoy it I am not in love with it. Anyway, I like it because of the art style, the different variety of shows that can be found from mecha, to magical, to real life, to funny, to more serious. So it?s a fun type of media to watch as you can find almost anything and it?s all drawn in a similar format. Well similar in that anime is pretty distinctive. ^_^ The biggest thing that draws me in is the fantasy aspect of the stories as so many of them have things that you just don?t see in real life. But on the same hand there are other excellent cartoons out there as well. Some of the older American ones are just too funny! I enjoy watching Bugs Bunny and Willie E Coyote and the older Disney ones like Duck Tales, Gummy Bears, Dark Wing Duck and Tale Spin. (Which are finally being released on DVD! ^_^) So though I really enjoy anime I also like other types of cartoons as well as each of them are unique and fun to watch in their own way. Part of what amazes me about some of the older American cartoons is many of them were completely drawn by hand and have no computer generated graphics in them. It?s amazing the detail that went into some of them. And to be funny as well, it just shows how talented the creators and artists who drew them really were. Oh and by the way, the others are right. Courage the Cowardly Dog is freaking hilarious! ^_^
-
Awww! You took it down. >_< The cats are cute, but I kind of miss the other as it had more attitude. ^_~ It will always stick in my mind as I remember when my Mom first saw it. It was really funny as she was torn between being offended and laughing over the idea of ?would you like to buy a vowel?? So in the end she gave in and said it was funny in it?s own way. Now as for the banners. I agree with the others, the double barrel shotgun effect taking out the character is too funny! ^_^ As for the second one..*dies laughing* That?s just beautiful. My favorite part is the guy in the pink tux who flashes his jewels. ^_^
And, I'm really getting spoiled by these "God of the Internet" picture compliments, indifference. I'm undeserving. I'll just settle for being the God of pictures here.
Well if your not the God of Internet pictures then how about the Demi-God of Internet pictures? ^_~
-
o_O Who would have thought that such a simple statement would have sparked so many different responses. I?ve heard the argument before, but only in fantasy books and since those often have different rules, well it didn?t conform to what I?ve learned. And it wouldn't really fit the discussion going on here. Anyway, ignoring all the previous posts I?m of the opinion that if a tree falls yes it does make a sound/noise. I?ve heard it for myself when the old tree in our front yard one day just decided to fall over. It was so old that it had rotted inside. I remember it quite well as the tree is just outside my window, or rather it was, and when it fell the noise startled my dog and she barked furiously for several minutes. As for the philosophy stuff, I?ll pass as most of it makes no sense to me anyway. o_O

You don't use them in the main quest. However, there are definitely a lot of really cool weapons and pieces of armor that you can find, so they sort of make up for it.
Ah! Now that I know that I?ve been trying to get stronger monsters so I can try out the monster area then. ^_^ Hehe! It will be cool to get the prizes. It never occurred to me that you would get prizes. ^_^ Anyway, I?ve been playing this and I just got past the point where you enter the
mooonshadow realm a second time to get the ship in the desert working again.
I found out what I needed to do and went back and the cut scene where
the guy from the moon shadow realm uses the memory of the ancient ocean to get the ship out to sea was beautifully done.
^_^ I loved all the effects that went into that sequence. So now I?m on my way to the next area.
