1. I already sent White a pm, but I'm posting it here as well. I will be gone from September the 21st till the 27th. So I won't be available to participate if part of the next round falls within that time frame. I know that's still a little ways off, but I wanted to make sure my notification was in time instead of being right before the actual deadline. That way if the next round has us teamed up I won't mess someone up. ^_^
  2. You know we love you Des! ^_~
  3.
Yeah it's too bad you don't have cat. They're much better. ;)

catsftw. I won't begin my anti-dog rant, though.

Yay cat people!
I don?t know about the better part, but ahem! This is Alexander. Who we have lovingly nicknamed Lucifer as he likes to chew on everything including power cords. o_O And as you can see here: The two of them are friends as we?ve had both of them since they were babies. ^_^ He?s a great cat and loves to play with Aaryanna, but when it comes to people, he crawls into your lap just so he can bite you. :p So he flunks the empathy part. ^_~
  4.
At least I?m not the only one to score zero in the Empathy department. If no one will associate with us I say we stick together. And since Aaryanna?s score was a 4 and Mariskah?s a 12 they can hang out with us as well. After all understanding (and experiencing) the emotions and thoughts of others is overrated anyway. :p Though I have to admit I?ll be a little sad that Sara won?t associate with any of us, as she?s rather nifty and cool herself. ;)
Ha! My score may only be a 4 but my dog has more than enough empathy for both of us! :p She's the one who snuggles with you when you feel bad or always seems to know when you are feeling upset. It's rather cute since when I am sick she sneaks out of her corner and I wake up to find her laying on me. I think she believes she's making me better somehow as she only does it when I'm not feeling well. And when it comes to others, well in less than 10 minutes of you holding her she'll start licking you since she just loves everyone. And she could care less what your empathy score is. So I'd say her score for empathy is probably 200 and then some! ^_~
  5.
I prefer manga because it's the original, unmolested work of a brilliant mind. RuroKen, Inuyasha, Yuugiou and so many others just pale as animes in comparison to the grayscale books on which they're based. I'd rather sacrifice color and voices for a quality story.
Don?t you know? It?s the
molestation
that often brings out aspects of a manga that would otherwise remain untold. ^_~ As Des pointed out, fillers aren?t always bad, some of them are downright funny. To be honest, straight manga is boring. It lacks depth in that there is no voices or motion to the fights or sounds to the ones where they use magic effects. The pictures may be pretty, but in the end they are still and lifeless in that respect. Also, manga?s are not written on a very high level of reading comprehension so they are far too easy to finish quickly. Where you can?t fast forward through an animated episode without losing part of what?s happening. Reading a manga is nothing like sitting down and really getting into a well written novel. So in the end I prefer the animated version over the manga since there?s just so much more being portrayed than a simple picture and words. So in the end I prefer to watch a show animated and then to go back and read the manga if I like the series. There are a few exceptions, like the Yu-Gi-Oh series where I prefer the manga. But that?s because the animated version is highly edited to make it a kiddy show. I?d love to see that unedited as the manga is quite different.
  6.
Since Aaryanna is on disk two I can see if she?ll lend me disk one and I can get started! Oh the joys of memory cards.^_^

Aaryanna! Don?t you dare let her steal your disk. Don?t you know? Friends always claim they just want to borrow it and then you never see it again! Once she starts playing the game that is! :p
Hehe! If that happened I?d just sick my dog on her! Though she?d probably just lick her instead of biting her. ^_~ Anyway, I?m actually not to disk two just yet so she?s out of luck. I?ve also been playing Dragon Quest VIII a lot lately as well so it might be a while until I get to disk two. Though I suppose since we live so close together she can borrow it when I'm playing my other game as I can just drop in and borrow it back. ^_~ More important. I finally have Albel! Hehe! You were right he really is funny in battle. Right now the saying he uses when battle starts
I?m in the mood for a little violence
just cracks me up! And when he levels up sometimes he just
cackles evilly! The first time he did that I just died laughing!
Now I just need to figure out the mystery of my current quest. I?m trying to figure out as much as I can on my own but I suspect I?m going to need my guide as I?m missing something. I?ve already found what I believe to be the entrance to where I need to go, I?ve just yet to figure out how to open it. o_O
  7. Well this round may be over, but I wanted to thank jigglyness, Sara and indifference for the wonderful input on my piece. They had such good ideas that I re-opened my picture and made changes based on what they suggested. So I ended up coming up with this: Thanks again! I like the second version better than the first one I made. I knew something was off but I wasn?t sure what to do to fix it. ^_^
  8. Boo: Your piece is so beautifully vibrant and colorful. I love how you made the butterfly stand out from the darkness. The thing I don?t care for is the white outline as it?s so stark compared to the rest of the vibrant look and feel to the piece. jigglyness: I too love the background of your piece, all the textures and depth really make the black butterfly stand out. The font is beautiful and the whole thing just flows nicely. The only thing I don?t care for is the simple butterfly almost seems a little out of place as the rest of the piece has so much going on. It just seems like it needs a tiny bit of something on it. sakurasuka: It?s pink! And I love the way it?s a simple pink and white picture. It?s clean and has a nice feel to it and the way you?ve done the border with pink on the outside and a white line on the inside, it just makes the whole piece look like an art print. The only thing I don?t care for is the placement of the text and I don?t care for the font as it doesn?t seem to fit. It practical where the rest of the picture seems to be more flowing? Sara: First of all I absolutely adore your butterfly. It?s simply amazing all the details you put into it. You?ve give it a wonderful realistic feel and the soft touches of pink just wrap it up nicely. I also love the pink border on your piece as well. The only thing I don?t care for, the placement of the text and the type of font just don?t seem to match. My vote goes to Sara. Great job everyone! ^_^
  9. Delta: You?re piece is so wonderfully colorful, busy and vibrant. However I?m a bit confused as to how that connects to the original picture. Still I?m impressed as even though many of the colors are a sharp contrast like the blue, yellow and pink. You?ve made them all look as if they belong together. Chikara Kokoro: You?re piece is wonderful in that all the colors harmonize together. The blacks and yellows look great and I love the weird little lines of texture you put on the spade. The only thing I don?t care for is that the background and text just don?t seem to go together. I?m not sure if I explained that correctly or not. Anyway, my vote goes to Chikara Kokoro. Great job everyone! ^_^
  10. Xra: I too like the messy feel and how you combined the pictures from the chalkboard with one of Einstein. It?s a great concept and I think it goes with the light bulb rather well. But at the same time it?s a bit too busy and I think that distracts from the overall theme. Kitty: Your piece has a wonderfully put together background and the words along with the picture of the light bulb all fit together nicely. It gives the impression that all energy is the same. But like indifference I don?t like the words? So I?m out of ideas?as it just doesn?t seem to fit. Eclipse: I too like the flames in your piece. But for what ever reason on my screen they look a bit blurred. However they are nicely done and have a good rich vibrant feel to them. And I like the choice of words for your piece as well. In the end my vote goes to Kitty. Great job everyone! ^_^
  11. Free-Wheeling Leader Well I took it. Hehehe! That was kind of funny. It?s actually pretty accurate on some of my personality. Seems that I?m more masculine than feminine though. o_O Though I suppose since I?m a bit of a tomboy that fits as well. ^_^ And the part about being logical, that too is so me. ^_~
  12.
Eh, he used his MySpace link provided to the public in his profile. In retrospect it was a rather simple move. But I still must commend John for actually following through with it. I know I probably would've given an apathetic shrug had I thought about turning him in.
I thought about it but John beat me to it. Besides when I tried to look at the myspace account he had listed the page has been taken down. Oh and I love your new custom title Retribution! Super Otaku Force, go! :catgirl:
  13. And here I was gearing up to post about returning the phone and then John enters the picture. Hehehe!
Totally awesome, dude. We could start our own OtakuBoards task force just wtfpwning crime. I nominate John for Captain. Call ourselves the Super Otaku Force.
I also nominate John for Captain! And then I apply to be part of the Super Otaku Force! :catgirl:
By the way, I third John as Captain of the Super Otaku Force. I want to be part of the Force, too! We can [strike]take over[/strike] help the world.[/size']
That?s right we?ll take over the world! I mean Help the world! :p
  14. Well I?m still having a great time playing this game. ^_^ The more I play it the more I love it. It?s go so many little things in it that just makes it fun. Like earlier today. I was starting on one of the dungeons and I realized that I had forgotten to buy some supplies so I left so I could use the Zoom spell and go back to town and get what I needed. Apparently when I cast the Zoom spell I was still standing under a bit of the roof and when my character cast the spell I got the usual special effects and sounds but then it was immediately interrupted by a Thwack and my character falling back to the ground. I then got the message that my character had hit his head on the ceiling! Hehe! I just died laughing! It was so funny! ^_^ Then I walked out a little further to make sure I was completely under the sky and then the spell worked like it should have. But still the fact that they even bothered to put that in there was just freaking hilarious! ^_^ The other thing I thought was cool was the Moonshadow Realm. That was really nifty the way they did that aspect of the game. The guys voice is a bit weird, but the whole world with the rotating moons in all their phases and the waterfalls and music was just enchanting. So far I think that?s one of the coolest looking places in the whole game. I?m kind of hoping I end up in the Moonshadow Realm again. ^_^
  15.
Just one of many irritating monsters, and once you get strong enough to outright clobber them, they just spring a new irritation on you in the form of an even more annoying monster.
Quoted for truth. I finished the Shrine and then I finished the Ruins of Mosel. Those little imps that shot fire were not only fast but really annoying! They died easily enough, provided you could catch the little devils! Was I the only one who found the water issue with the desert a bit annoying? Though once I got the
Aqua Veil in the Mosel Ruins it was easy to get stuff. But I had to start over a lot cause I kept getting nailed by the water issue when trying to get to the remote chests! I wish I had known about getting the Aqua Veil as I would have just waited until after the ruins to get things on the way out since the Veil makes the water issue go away.

Take the Fairy Light spell that you get later. It?s cute how it summons
little fairies who fly around your characters to heal them. [/spoiler']I?m pretty sure Aaryanna would get a kick out of that spell.
You know me to well. I love fairies! Hehe! I can?t wait until I get that spell! ^_^ Now I?m finally on my way to Airyglyph to pick up Albel for the next mission! Yay! I?m finally going to have Albel in my party! ^_^
  16. Welcome to OtakuBoards penpen1 Please work on your post quality and put more of a emphasis on discussion since here at OtakuBoards we try to have quality discussion in all of our forums. For example you could have take the time to explain the pros and cons of both shows and then explain why you would choose one of them as being better. Simply listing two shows and asking which is better is spam. So due to the spammy nature of this thread I am going to close it. If you still are unclear on the rules and such look on the left hand side of the forum and look at the Rules and FAQ. Also please take a look at the IMPORTANT how to post in the Anime lounge sticky at the top of this forum to see more ways on how to post in the anime lounge. Keep in mind that members are held accountable to the Rules whether they have read them or not and members who continue to post without regards to the rules can end up being banned from the site. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed
  17. Welcome to OtakuBoards LilyBebeboo, Please be aware that we have a Rules and FAQ page located on the left side of the forum that all members are required to read. When creating a thread the main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form, and avoid spam. Also a thread creator?s opening post is what kick starts a discussion, so when creating a thread please be sure you come on to your topic with a decent quality post. Right now the opening post and responses in this thread do not meet this requirement so I am going to close this thread. This applies to everyone who has posted as simply listing a show with out much in the way of explaining why you feel that show has your favorite artistic style is spam. Once all of you have re-read the rules this will make more sense. For example LilyBebeboo, you could have explained why you think the characters from Samurai Champloo seem so life like. You also could have explained why you like the landscapes and backgrounds. Are they well detailed? Do you like the colors used when they animate them? Details like that are what help to kick start a good discussion. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed
  18. My favorite soda is Fresca. ^_^ I love the taste of grapefruit and they?ve also got cherry flavored Fresca as well. ^_^ Sometimes I also drink sprite or root beer, but they just aren?t as good as Fresca. I?ve had other soda?s but the one?s with caffeine in them tend to make me feel wired so I rarely drink them. As for what they are called. Most of the time I hear it referred to as either soda or Soft Drinks and occasionally I?ve heard them all referred to as Coke. I?ve never heard anyone call it Pop. A lot of people also just refer to it by name, like they will ask me if I want a Pepsi or a Dr. Pepper as that?s exactly what they have.
  19. I?m like indifference, I like to add stuff to my ramen. We get several different types of mixed frozen veggies at the store but instead of shrimp my mom usually gets different meat like chicken or steak that she cuts into little pieces and then cooks them before adding them along with the veggies to the ramen. That?s only if it?s something we are having for dinner though. When I?m just having it as a snack I only add some of the frozen veggies. The one thing I don?t care for is the flavor packets since they are so salty. So I usually add the flavoring once everything is done, stir everything around for about a minute and then I drain all the excess water off. That way it?s lightly flavored without being too strong and salty. ^_^
  20. Well as far as I can remember I was never a type of shoe. ^_~ And when it comes to wearing them I usually don?t unless I have to. I prefer to run around the house and in the yard barefoot. But when I do wear shoes they are just some inexpensive sneakers from Wal-Mart. I do have shoes for wearing with a dress, but since I hate dresses I almost never use them. Oh and I do have one pair of hiking boots that I wear in the winter since they are warmer than the sneakers and do better in the snow. ^_^
  21.
Now I just have to convince my friends to come along too as bowling by yourself seems like it wouldn?t be as much fun.
No need to convince me. ^_~ I?ve never been bowling and I?ve always wanted to give it a try. So I say we drag Mariskah and my mom along and go bowling! ^_^
  22. Well that?s an interesting rant. o_O Though I?m a bit confused as to why she thinks the culture belongs to her. I thought most people enjoyed sharing their culture with others. It certainly makes things more interesting. ^_^ I?m not sure I understand why she?s so angry and declaring I?m not going to take it anymore. I seriously doubt anything she says is going to stop Hollywood from producing movies like Memoirs of a Geisha or The Last Samurai. Her whole rant just seems kind of pointless to me. I mean calling Hiroshima and Nagasaki terrorism? By that definition all war would be considered terrorism. They make it sound like their culture is innocent of doing the same thing. Des already pointed out how other cultures influence what you can find in other countries. And it?s really all about making money as such things sell. If they didn?t no one would even bother to make or distribute things from other countries. I can see how they have a point with the over obsessed fans of a culture, as often they worship the country it comes from and they have failed to realize that the tiny bit they love so much is nothing like the reality of actually being in that country. But honestly they sound just as obsessed as the Asiaphile?s they are complaining about. o_O Anyway as for the question do I think Jen is over-reacting, I would have to say yes. Although they have a good point they?ve definitely gone overboard in that they are behaving as if other countries and cultures are on some mission to destroy the one she is from. Do I feel attacked? Not really. Even if she is referring to me I could care less. So I like anime and other aspects of Japanese culture. So what? I also like different aspects of the culture here in the USA and other countries as well. Like England as they have TV shows I enjoy watching as well. Do I recognize that some people really are nuts over another culture. Unfortunately yes. I?ve run into a few and god forbid you dislike anything Japanese as they literally flip out as if you are the devil or something. o_O And when they are that obsessed, yeah I find them a bit creepy. Mind you I?m only going off the few I?ve met. Though I find it hard to imagine that there would be ones that are more rational, after all if they were rational they wouldn?t be so obsessive right? I think someone already mentioned this, but as for drawing a line between appreciation and appropriation, well appreciation is just fine as there?s nothing wrong with enjoying a well done artwork or well produced anime show. But to take such a thing as something that is perfect and beyond question just because it came from Japan, well that?s obviously stupid as just like anywhere else there are good things about the culture and bad things. Or rather good shows or poorly made ones.
  23. Eep! I?m so nervous about this since you guys are so much better at this than I am. >_< Still I worked hard on this and I?m happy with how it turned out so here it is! Halloween Moon I think I'll go run and hide now. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's nervous!
  24. I just got this game and so far I?m really enjoying it. The game itself is beautiful and the character designs are wonderful. Even if they do look like characters from Dragonball. I?ve never cared for that anime, but the characters look great in a game. The music has a nice grand feel to it and the battle system though you initially choose the actions, is still fun to watch as they play out their moves. Depending on what you?ve chosen each move has a nice different animation of them carrying out the attack against the enemy. I also like how the world you walk through has more of a real feel to it instead of looking like they are walking on a map. It brings the story alive in that you feel like you really are walking though the town or fields or forests. And even the land has ups and downs so you actually have to walk to the top of a hill to see what?s on the other side. ^_^ It?s also fun how changing their weapons is reflected in how they look. If you are using a sword the main character has a sword strapped to his back, or if it?s a spear then he has a spear. And though the main character?s clothes do not change, if you change the armor of the girl, some of them she?s actually wearing them in battle! Anyway, so far the story is rather enjoyable and paced well and even the monsters you face are kind of funny in the way that they are drawn. Some of their attacks are funny as well. Like the one where they make your character catch the dancing bug and they start dancing uncontrollably during battle. Hehe! It was annoying and yet funny to see them dancing!
  25.
Now I?ve been a member of this religion for a very long time and now that I am older I am finding that although I still believe and attend church I am no longer as devoted as I once was. Why? Because being too strict about religion has resulted in alienating some of my children, something I wish I could go back and change since now I realized that no religion is worth alienating your kids over. Especially when they are good kids who for their own reasons are not religious like you are.
I agree! But then since I?m one of those non-religious kids who you haven?t alienated it?s no surprise right? ^_~ Anyway, like my Mom I too am LDS/Mormon. And though I was raised this way, last year I decided I don?t want to be part of any religion. So after a few fights with my Mom we finally came to the agreement that I have the right to decide for myself. ^_~ So now I only go to church occasionally with her and the rest of the time I just stay at home instead. The main reason I changed is I came to the realization that just because something is written in a book doesn?t mean that it?s true. And if the LDS/Mormon church was the true church why are there so many religions in the world. So it?s more like I?m on a journey to discover what I really believe in as on some levels I?m not even sure if I believe God exists either. The other reason is because I don?t agree with the LDS view that pretty much makes women unable to hold any form of leadership. They claim to be equal for everyone, but it?s a lie. And any time I tried to ask questions when I did go to church people were so nasty and rude to me as if I lacked faith for even asking. It just bugged me that their whole attitude was I didn?t know my place so to speak. Which according to one guy, was to get married and produce babies. *snort* As if! Arrogant jackass! Anyway, so right now I guess I?m in between believing in God and being an atheist. Especially since some of the ethics books I?ve been reading also seem to show that being a good person does not require religion in any form. And if I don?t make any sense, fair enough as I?m still figuring out what I want to believe. ^_~
