1. Welcome to OtakuBoards rene23, I?m closing your thread for the following reasons. To avoid confusion we ask that you do not create a new thread but instead post in the current one no matter how old it may be. You can look here: Official Threads Directory to see if the thread already exists. If you wish to discuss Fruits Basket, there is already a thread dedicated to this show. The other reason is that Since Otakuboards is a conversation-based forum, thread quality is very important. A thread?s main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form, and avoid spam. We expect a little more in posts than what you have made available. If your post is the first in a thread, it is especially important to have post content and quality. Please take a moment to read through the Rules and FAQ located on the left sidebar for further information on OtakuBoards policies on creating threads and other aspects of OtakuBoards. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~Aaryanna Thread Closed
 2. I?ve always preferred the anime. The biggest reason is that Manga takes so little time to read. Since most of it is provided in the format of images I go through a series very quickly. I?m more use to reading books that have no pictures except for the actual cover of the book. So for me the anime is more fun since the addition of music, voices and the very act of animating the characters slows it down and the time spent watching it brings it alive in a way that to me simple pictures just can?t do. There are a few exceptions where I like the manga better, but it?s primarily because the anime that is available is heavily edited so to understand the series better you have to read the manga. For example, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Series. I?m sure there is an unedited version, but since I do not have access to it I have to turn to the manga to find out more about what is missing. For the most part I think it?s pointless to compare the two since both of them are going to have advantages over the other.
 3. Welcome to OtakuBoards frankieanime, I am closing this thread for the same reason I closed the other thread you created. Do you have a crush on an anime character? Since Otakuboards is a conversation based forum, thread quality is very important. A thread?s main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form, and avoid spam. We expect a little more in posts than what you have made available. If your post is the first in a thread, it is especially important to have post content and quality. Also it is important when starting a thread to have a clear, easy to read post and topic. This includes correct use of spelling, grammar and punctuation. A good idea would be to type up your comments in a program like word so you can spell check before posting. Right now this thread is falling short of these expectations so I am going to close it. Please take a moment to read the Rules and FAQ before posting again or creating another thread. 5. Well I haven?t even been here for a year yet and I think OtakuBoards just keeps getting better. My reasoning is quite simple, when I started looking for an anime forum to join the sheer volume of poor posting and spamming that I found appalled me. It gave me a headache just trying to figure out what people were saying! I?ve only been a member since June of 2005 but I have yet to see anything that would make me think this site is worse. Sure there?s always a rush of noobs so to speak but there?s also a lot of new members who really add to the over all quality one can find here. ^_^ It?s always easy to look back and think things were better. Since the fog of time has dimmed your memory of how things really were. :p
Dagger, that?s cruel, true, but cruel. :animecry:

Defend your forum, you sorry excuse for a moderator! Don't let that big bully Dagger shove you around!
That?s right! Down with bullies! ^_~
EDIT: Oi, Retri, the Anime Lounge ain't got nothing on this. :p ~Dagger~
And to think, that?s after it was cleaned up! :animestun
 6. Welcome to OtakuBoards lee123, I am closing your thread for the following reason: A thread?s main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form, and avoid spam. Example of a poor thread topic may be something like ?Let?s have a party? or ?Let?s chat?, Both of which have no concrete subject. Take this into consideration before creating a thread. A thread creator?s opening post is what kick starts a discussion, so when creating a thread please be sure you come on to your topic with a decent quality post. If a creator starts their thread off with a weak opening, the thread is more likely to attract spam from new members, and could lead itself to being closed. Though sometimes weak threads can be saved by high quality posters. Any threads found to be abstract by a moderator, may be closed. One of the best ways to get an idea for an appropriate thread topic would be to browse the forum and get ideas from previous threads which were successful in attracting discussion. Other than to comment on the fact that Naruto is no longer airing for the next month and that Miyazaki?s movies will be showing, there really isn?t much room for a discussion here. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Rules and FAQ for information on post quality and creating threads. 7. Welcome to OtakuBoards trucha, "Favorites Threads" are usually not permitted at Otakuboards. This is because the Anime Lounge is a conversation based forum and "Favorites Threads" are usually full of spammy posts and lists. Sometimes moderators allow this type of thread but it requires a very impressive first post, which yours isn't. Please take a moment to read the sticky: IMPORTANT: How to Post in Anime Lounge before continuing to post. 8.
Have u ever noticed that anime chicks 10-14 years old develop faster (breast, and booty) Like Neon Genesis Evangalion for example all the female children are like what? 14 years old look at them Big Boobies. Or Love Hina can get any bigger. Its pretty funny how they over exagerate on the body parts.
I?ve noticed and in some shows it?s a turn off as I find it distracting that so much attention is placed on how big the characters breasts and booty is so to speak. I don?t even remember the name of the show as I?ve often just switched the channel to watch something else. As for my ideal anime girl, I use to look up to Sailor Moon. Sure she was a crybaby and needed to be rescued quite a bit. But underneath it all she really cared for her friends and would do her best to be there for them. I?ve heard that the edited version is quite different but I?ve never seen it. Now I?m more into liking Wedding Peach as an ideal anime girl. She?s not terribly bright or some super fighter, but she cares for her friends and does her best. Though it could be that I like her because I like the idea of being a love angel protecting love from the devils. ^_~
 9.
Then we disagree. I doubt I could convince you otherwise and I'm very entrenched in my militarist opinions so I won't turn this into some sort of boring back and forth that ends up going nowhere. [/color'] :p
I don?t know about that. ^_~ Most of my view is based on what I see in the news. All the shootings and robbery and other types of violent crimes. I?m not that familiar with military issues. I know I?m a bit naive when it comes to weapons and my wish that people would see that they aren?t necessary. But at the same time if someone were to ask me to join a movement to get rid of weapons I?d look at them like they had grown two heads or something! LOL! Even I know that we can?t just get rid of them and that if you don?t develop better weapons those who use them against you would end up being powerful enough to do just that. >_< I?ll still believe in my idealist view that in the end we don?t need them though. :p
I think you slightly misunderstand me. I feel that it's certainly possible that one day we may be "ready" for the use of space, but more than likely we're going to be out there long before that ever happens. Or, to put it in a clearer way: we won't be ready for space, but probably we'll be out there regardless, and I have no idea whether this is a good thing or not. On the other hand, I don't see any necessary connection between the kind of "supporting ourselves" in space you suggest and the technological thinking which demands that everything deliver the maximum output to us at all times. Even a dumb intellectual like me won't object to our subsistence and supporting ourselves as a foundation for our living - the larger question is how we will treat space beyond that, whether as something to be lived in or something to be challenged. (and yes, most of the above post is stolen wholesale from Heidegger; click here if you get particularly bored one day)
Ah, that makes more sense. ^_^ You were talking more about the exploring spirit vs only going there to make it serve us in some fashion, right? ^_^
 10. the Samaruimist This is the second time you have created a thread without offering much in the way of conversation. Your first one What is your ideal anime girl? Was merged with another to create this thread: Anime girlz Or What is your ideal anime girl? So I am going to give you the same advise indifference did. When creating a thread you need to provide a more solid post to encourage conversation. Your starting post is encouraging short spammy posts of yes I have watched a show and wondered why I am watching it or no I haven?t. You could have encouraged others to start a discussion by telling us about a show you yourself have watched that had you wondering why you even bothered to watch it. So it's important to read the Rules and FAQ before creating another thread. If you have questions you can pm myself or another member of the staff. So with that in mind I?m giving this thread a new instruction. In addition to answering the initial question tell us what the show is and what it is about it that has you wondering why you watched it in the first place. For example, recently I read a number of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga?s and upon discovering how much was cut out of the show I began to look back and wonder why I even watched the show on TV in the first place. It?s so different since a lot of the violence has been edited out and some events were skipped altogether. I?ve decided that although I no longer like the edited TV show like I use to, it still was enjoyable since it had such positive messages of friendship and trusting in the heart of the cards. I?ve got friends who laugh over the idea of trusting in the heart of the cards, but there is a short story in the manga that is not in the edited version of the show that clearly shows that the heart of the cards is a very important aspect of how they work and a vital aspect of the series. So why did I watch it and still do on occasion? It's the friendship message. Friends are very important to me and I like a show that clearly puts an emphasis on the importance of friendship. ^_^ ~Aaryanna EDIT: Looks like you merged this thread while I was posting r2vq. ^_~ the Samaruimist it's important to follow the rules as now both indifference and r2vq have explained it as well.
 11. While I agree that right now a lot of the money going into Space Programs is being wasted, I don?t think we should give up on it. Unlike the money being wasted in other programs commonly referred to as ?political porking?, Space Programs as least have the possibility of helping future generations. If we waited until we all got along to do stuff then nothing would ever get done! lol! My only regret about Space Programs is that it?s unlikely that I will get to travel into space. I know I would love to get to see the Earth from space.
Do we really need to spend billions on refining the art of killing each other?

Yes. We do.
Actually no we don?t. Think about it. Weapons are not a need, they are a want. In ancient times humans relied on crude weapons in order to hunt, and defend themselves from predators. Now technology has improved enough that the need for weapons has been replaced by farming and other methods. A very small amount of ?weapons? is needed in order to butcher meat and other tasks like defending yourself from something like a bear, but the deep need for weapons no longer exists. Unfortunately there are people who interpret ?want? as a ?need? They want what others have so they build weapons so they have the power to go and take what they want from others and in turn those who they are taking things from then need weapons to protect themselves from those who wish to take what?s not theirs. So weapons are an unfortunate but necessary need on some level. But the reality is that deep down it?s a want. Breathing Oxygen is a need, without it you would die. Using weapons to take from others is a want. They don?t need your land or your possessions, they just want it.
To answer the question above: we will be "ready" to go into space when we have thought through the meaning of technology and are ready to approach space as something to be lived in and lived with[/i'], rather than something to be made servile. If this seems excessively abstract and idealistic, it could just be because I'm an intellectual dope who's read too much and whose views have nothing to do with the topic because they are "not useful." For much thinking, this judgment is absolutely correct.
The problem with waiting to expand into another area of living until we are ready to just live in and live with it, is we will never go there. On some level we have to find a way for it to help us survive or otherwise we won?t be able to just live there. You can?t just live somewhere if the means to support yourself are not there. Though it would be more idealistic if we moved into space because it was not a complete need but rather a gradual one. Where on some level we are there because our means to survive are being taken care of elsewhere.
 12.
*barks* So a full-sized picture does exist! Um, the avatar is rather simple. I managed to make the dog look bloody in another avatar I made but I'm dead sure you don't want that. ^^ If you want me to change something in this set, please don't hesitate to PM me. *bows*
Thankyou everyone who made one. ^_~ I'm going to go with the set you made Delta. It's georgous! ^_^ And I love how you put the saying under my name!
 13. Naruto's newest technique the "Kiss Me!" Jutsu goes horribly wrong.
 14. I don?t usually request banners or avatars since I?m trying to learn how to make them. But after I saw the amazing image that was made for the Nifty Fifty I thought I would ask for a set. My skills are completely self-taught and basically a matter of clicking things in my adobe program to see how it looks. I?ve learned a lot but I?ve been seeing some amazing stuff made by the talented artists here and I?d love to see what all of you can do. I mean that one for the Avatar Submission Thread in the Nifty Fifty is so amazing that I can?t even begin to figure out how it was made. I?ve included the original picture that was taken with a digital camera. Just so you know it is a big picture. I wasn?t sure if having the full size made a difference or not. Obviously I want my dog to be in the picture but beyond that I?m open to different ideas. ^_^ Bichon
 15. :animeblus Thank you! ^_^ I never expected to have so much fun when I joined OB! Congratulations to everyone and thank you to everyone who participated in the Nifty Fifty! ^_^ And those graphics? Amazing! I just adore what was done with mine. I don?t suppose I could use it? Pretty Please?
 16.
My signature is actually the logo for the Sydney Opera House. Having just been down to the Mardi Gras - and having loved it - I thought I'd use that as a theme for my avatar and signature. I really like the Opera House logo, it's very simple and very distinctive.
I wondered what your newest avatar and signature was from! ^_~ I love the animation. Mine is really simple and it probably always will be. It's a cropped picture I took of my dog in the snow a short while ago. I just got the section I wanted, changed the size to fit and then gave it a simple border. The words are because when you wash and dry a Bichon the right way (which is to use a commercial dryer to fluff the fur properly) they look like a giant soft cotton ball! ^_~ EDIT: Same picture just done by the talented Delta! ^_~
 17. I just wanted to let everyone know how much I?ve enjoyed seeing what you?ve created. ^_^ I'm amazed at all the different sections that people have made and yet they still flow together quite well. I look forward to seeing further contributions to the Graphic Worm. Great job everyone! ^_^
 18. Actually I?m not sure confronting her is the best thing. It just depends on if she really feels there is nothing wrong with plagiarizing. But there could be many reasons why she?s doing it. She could be lonely and it?s a way to get attention or she may even feel that unless she?s good at something no one will like her. If she is posting it elsewhere claiming it?s her art I would quietly report it for plagiarism and let the moderators of the site take care of it. Sometimes getting caught doing something wrong is enough to stop someone from doing it again. And the advantage of doing that is she can come to terms with the stealing without losing all her friends. Then if she doesn't change well at that poing it might be best to not be friends with her since lying hurts more than the person who is doing it. I don?t know what to say since she could also be depressed and just lying to cover up how she really feels. I guess I would just hate to see you lose a friendship if it isn?t necessary. Anyway, best of luck with all that.
 19. That's really quite good. I like how all the details are nice and clean. It's a great line art picture. Have you considered making some of the lines thicker than others to gvie it a little more depth? It would certainly help it pop a little more. ^_^ Over all I would give it a 9/10. Great job.
 20. Well foxx_of_fire122 your avatar is cute and clean, but it's one of the pre-set avatars you can choose so not much else to say on it. Your signature is simple but kind of lacking so for the sig I give you a 5/10 A picture with the words on it would spice things up. ^_^
 21. I like lots of colors, but my favorite is pink. I just love how pink looks. ^_^ It's more than just a simple color, I love all the different shades of pink you can find in flowers, and it looks great in flower designs on blankets. ^_^ It's the one color I never get tired of since I like pale pink all the way to dark hot pink. It's especially pretty in the spring when there are lots of cherry and other blossoms on many of the trees here. There's just something magical about pink petals floating in the wind. Hehehe! ^_^ I like soft purple colors too since they go so well with pink.
 22. I'm glad I'm not the only one! >_< My pm's are messed up too! When my friends try to send me a new one I get an old one instead! It tells me that the pm is new but it's a really old one that I deleted over six months ago! I got one that was orginally sent back on 6-30-2005! I checked with my friend and that was not the message that she sent me. >_< It's not the first time either. I thought perhaps it was just a bug, but it's been doing it for several days now and I've yet to recieve any of the new pm's that were sent to me. In fact my friends had to use e-mail instead since I haven't gotten any of their recent pm's lately. I keep getting an older pm that I deleted every time they try to send me a new one. Is it my account? Or is it a problem with myOtaku?
 23.
And also, the people who freaking made the cartoons should be somewhat ashamed. Yeah, I believe in freedom of speech and whatnot, but obviously if they knew something like drawing Muhammed was considered sacriligeous and very offensive.... Seriously, what point were they trying to make? Ok, whatever, I guess they're 'brave' or whatever, but they should just shut up and sit down and have a little think-over about what they did.
I agree that they should be ashamed for making the cartoons, but some of the Muslims should be ashamed for their response to the cartoons: Muslim cleric offers bounty on Muhammad cartoonists I can understand that they are upset over them, but I do not agree with this type of response. Wanting someone dead over a cartoon shows, in my opinion, a complete lack of maturity.
 24.
i think that it's generally accepted that elves do exist. if elves do not exist then how come hundreds of non-fiction fantasy novels talk of the exact same race of people and often all describe them as having pointy ears and magical powers.it's far too much of a coincidence to think otherwise. i also don't buy the alien theory, elves have had midnight gatherings like this for thousands of years, since ancient times infact. can anyone here actually prove that elves don't exist?
Actually it is generally accepted that elves are from Norse Mythology and do not exist. And there is no such thing as a non-fiction fantasy book. Fantasy is just that, a fantasy, something that does not exist. Can you prove that they do? Just like aliens no one has proven that elves exist.
we can only assume that they do though. there is plenty of evidence, including the crop circle phenomena and refrences in hundreds of novels worldwide, the most famous being JR Tolkeins "the hobbit"
A book is not evidence. Many people are familiar with J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings or Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung, but they are not familiar with Norse mythology to which both of these works are heavily indebted. Tolkien was very well acquainted with Norse mythology, as can be seen by the use of it in his books. The name of one of his main characters, Gandalf, is found in The Poetic Edda. Gandalf is, in some ways, reminiscent of Odin, the leader of the Norse pantheon. Even the name Middle-earth, the setting for Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, comes from Norse mythology. The reason that there is hundreds of fantasy books written about the same characters is because the stories written from Norse mythology have been around for over a thousand years. Plenty of time for people to hear about elves or any other mythical creature for that matter.
 25.
I wonder how the farmers do it when they don't really have a good vantage point of what it looks like from the sky.
Well first of all I don?t believe it was elves creating the crop circles. No one has yet to prove that elves even exist. If you?re wondering how they get it to look so perfect, then check out the National Geographic Channel when you have time. They air a show on the topic of crop circles. There?s one part of the show where a group that makes crop circles makes one for them so you get to see it being made. It?s not that hard since they use a computer to make their model to begin with and then they take in boards and ropes the right size so that each time they create a circle it goes out only so far.
