I don't think I have a bad temper, but I do tend to act without thinking it through first. I'm short and skinny and the other kids at school think that because of that I'm a pushover. As a result when they pick on me I usually thrash them so to speak and I end up getting in trouble. But sersiously if some stupid guy is going to pinch you hard enough to leave a bruise then he deserves a black eye! :animesigh Then of course the idiot has to slash my bike tires the next day and since I saw him do it I gave him another black eye and and took his pocket knife and destroyed his tires in return. :animesigh I got grounded for a week for that and It hardly seems fair to be told I have a bad temper when I'm just sticking up for myself. Or least that's what I think. :animesigh

Have you had a pet that thinks your it's mom?
Aaryanna replied to Raccoon Chick's topic in General Discussion
Well my dog definitely thinks I?m her mom. ^_^ Bichon?s are pretty much a lap dog and they have a love me, pet me, hold me 24/7 attitude. She?s always in your face wanting attention. She sleeps inside on my bed with me at night and now she thinks I?m her mom and pretty much follows me everywhere I go. She?s really quite affectionate and loves everyone in the family. But when she is sick or tired she always comes to me wanting to be held. I really love having her, as she?s the most loving dog we?ve ever had. They only drawback is that she is so social that if you have to leave her locked up for a bit she thinks it?s punishment and gets depressed as she literally hates being left alone. So then when you come home she?s really whinny demanding attention as she missed you so much while you were gone. -
Anime What would you do if anime died out?
Aaryanna replied to Tyler Koregaten's topic in Otaku Central
I would do absolutely nothing, as I know it won?t die. Rather animation will simply evolve as cartoons have ever since the first one was aired on TV. I think that with the advancements of technology that anime will change quite a bit over the years, but it will still exist. And if I don?t care for the changes then I will always have my DVD?s and Manga?s that I already own to enjoy. -
Nah, the cel-shaded direction was obviously a throwback to Zelda's roots. By the way, if the intention there was to show everyone that graphics don't matter through the visual style, then the developers failed miserably. The game was absolutely gorgeous regardless of whether one agrees with the style or not. When it was first released, I thought it was the best-looking console game ever. I remember being floored when I saw ash swirling through the air while scaling the volcano. And when I actually entered and saw the heat and lava effects (which were only just recently surpassed by those found in Resident Evil 4)--I felt that the game looked better than most cartoons. I even stared in awe at minor effects, like the plumes of smoke that followed an enemy's death. Great stuff.
I really loved the cel-shaded look of The Wind Waker. It was just so beautifully done! I loved all the funny facial expressions Link made and how Link would get dizzy after doing the final sword technique. I was actually more thrown off by the other Zelda games, as The Wind Waker was the first one I ever played. So when I borrowed Ocarina of Time and Majora?s Mask from a friend I was looking at it thinking what the heck? I liked both of them; it just took me a while to get use to a non-cartoon look. :animeswea I?ve already reserved my copy of the new game so I was pretty sad to hear that it?s been delayed. :animecry:

An arm, a leg and half a foot: the gas price thread
Aaryanna replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
The only good thing about gas prices for me is that I?m to young to drive anyway. But knowing my luck in three years it will probably be at least $5 dollars a gallon and I seriously doubt that minimum wage will go up. I know that other countries already pay more, but that doesn?t make it any less annoying to those of us who are use to not paying so much. Especially since so much of America doesn?t really have a good public transportation system. The thing that really makes me mad is that so many of the oil companies are reporting record breaking profits. So you just know that they are taking advantage of natural disasters like the hurricane to charge us even more. Or rather to charge my parents more that is. :animesigh -
Glad I'm not the only one! I was even writing a reply in the thread random questions and when I clicked on submit reply it brought up a window saying invalid thread! I wasn't sure what to think! When I went back to look it and at least five others had vanished! I wonder what happened to them?

I've wondered about this too. If you submitted it to the wrong category and it's your own wallpaper you can just edit it and request that they move it. But If it's someone else's you can only report it. I just looked and there isn't a choice for that. Or should you pick irrelevant since one being in the wrong place is irrelevant to that category as it is not part of it. Should we not worry about it? Or should we report one when we see it? I too think it would make the wallpaper section better if us members can help fix mistakes. It would be a great way for us to help out. ^_^ I actually saw a wallpaper the other day that was in the wrong category. Anway, I'd like to know too. If I can contribute, even if only in a small way, I'd love to be able to help as this place is so amazing. ^_^
i think the reason a lot of ppl think it is kiddish is because of all the animes that 4kids and other companies like that have edited and produced in america like pokemon. and i somebody that doesn't know nething about anime automatically think "pokemon! wut a stupid show!" but luckiely, people in my school really have no problem with anime or manga. in fact a lot of my friends (and my sister) love manga and anime as much as i do. and if nebody does have a problem with anime or manga, they simply didn't take the time to learn more about it and assumed it was just like pokemom or other shows like that. at least that my opinion. but wut do i know? :animeswea
I agree, 4kids has put out several anime that they edited and turned it into a kiddy show. Like Sailor Moon, they cut out 15 episodes in the first two seasons and ruined it in my opinion. But since they did it when you mention you like anime or someone finds out you do then they think "oh! They like that dorky show Sailor Moon! Or Pokemon, or Yu-Gi-Oh!" When in fact they aren't dorky at all. Though if I have to be stuck with being considered nerdy or dorkish for liking anime I'll accept that title without any complaint. Why? Cause for some reason a lot of people where I live think anime is pornography and I hate being called a pervert for watching DNAngel or Full Metal Panic. It all comes down to ignorance I guess.
IMO, this thread is inappropriate because suicide is a huge issue in the world and not only that, these forums have users ranging from 10 - 30+ years old. I wouldn't even have an 11 year old come in and find a way to release his soul through suicide. Yikes!!
I disagree as I think suicide is an important topic and that we shouldn?t pretend it doesn?t exist. I?m only 13 and reading this thread does not make me feel like committing suicide. I actually find it interesting to read as so many people where I live act like suicide isn?t a problem or doesn?t even exist.
Everyone has his or her limits. It is easy to think or say you would never consider ending your life. But until you have truly met or experienced what would drive you to desire death how can you truly say it is selfish to wish to die? For each person it is different as one thing would be devastating to one yet not effect another person and vice versa. I have experienced some events in my life that I consider horrifying, yet they were not enough to make me feel the need to kill myself.
I kind of have to agree with this statement. I?ve never really had any truly horrible things happen to me so I don?t know how I would feel or react. I think that until you experience something bad you really don?t know how you will react. One of my friends was really depressed as her brother died in a car accident. I felt bad for her but I still don?t understand completely how she feels. I hope I never do have something happen that is bad enough that I would consider ending my own life to escape the pain. Whether it?s mental anguish or physical pain.
The main thing that annoys me about suicide is the people who wear it on their sleeve like some kind of badge of honor. You know, constantly telling us about their millions of suicide attempts, or always talking in suicidal terms - but without having any intention to carry it out and without being truly suicidal. Not only do such people do a tremendous disservice to those with real problems, but they also cynically attract attention/admiration/sympathy from those around them. [i]That[/i'] kind of fakeness is the sort of thing that I really despise.
That sums up how I feel quite nicely as I really hate people who are pretenders out to get attention. People get so tired of hearing I?m going to commit suicide from those who are simply crying wolf so to speak. Then when someone who really is suffering and needs help says it people don?t believe them and treat them like scum for even wanting to die. When all they really wanted was some help.

Hehehehehe! This would be fun! I can think of several people who I would choose! SunfallE ? She?s one of my best friends in real life and she told me all about this place. Plus we always have fun playing video games together Mariskah ? Another really good friend, plus she has such a demented sense of humor! Panda - Cause everyone knows life just isn?t the same without the Panda! James ? Hehehehe! I could easily listen to that cute Australian accent for six months. ^_~ Plus he writes such interesting posts. Indifference ? she posts such serious and fun topics so I think she?d be fun to talk with about all sorts of stuff. Elfpirate ? I bet she would keep things lively! YamiYugi1990 - she?s a loyal friend and quite hyper so we could have fun bouncing off the walls so to speak. That does it for me. ^_^ I bet there are tons of people who it would be fun to do this with. ~*Aaryanna*~
An introduction forum would be wasted on a high quality-posting site like this one. It would not guarantee that introduction threads wouldn't be posted. It would also run the risk of encouraging the attitude that one needs to create such threads or must post in them first to get approval from the other members in order to join the current topics being discussed. What I find most endearing about this site is that you can join a discussion without the need to introduce yourself. As most introduction threads mainly consist of spamming, adding one would be like taking a step backwards for this place instead of improving it. The current atmosphere of anyone can step right in and feel welcome far outweighs the small problem of closing the occasional ?I?m new? thread that pops up.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Introductions are not needed in a place like this. I love how it's set up here, espically since every forum has threads with instructions on how to be a part of the community here. It would definately be a step backwards as the rules do state that posting I'm new or starting such threads are not allowed. Why create such a good guideline if you plan on ignoring it later?
It was not my intent to claim that all people in Utah are intolerant, merely that more tolerance is needed here. I thank you SunfallE as you explained it much clearer than I did in my post. I am quite sure that lack of tolerance exists everywhere and not just here in Utah. Perhaps it would have been better to simply state that more tolerance among the people I know would be better instead of saying a paticular place needs it. I guess I think of Utah as being intolerant as I have not always lived here and I had not run accross the dislike of anime before my family moved here. Let me eplain: I had taken some manga books with me to High School and was reading it during my lunch break. It was of Sailor Moon, so I was beyond surprised when one of the teachers made a scene and confisicated the two novels I had brought with me. I was sent the the principals office and accused of bringing pornographic material to school. The principal and teacher did not even look at the book but instead burned both of them on the spot and warned that if I ever brought any again I would be expelled from school. It has been over five years since I was in High School so perhaps now they realize that just cause it's anime doesn't mean it's poronograhy.
I live in Utah too and I agree that some of the people are intolerant. Though I also agree that it's proably everywhere. I'm not a big fan of yaoi or yuri, but still don't see why others can't like it. I'm not in high school yet, but the junior high I go too gets really mad if you bring anime stuff with you. Even if it's a series that's only rated PG. I took one of my DNAngel ones to school earlier this year and the teacher took it from me! DNAngel is not bad but the teacher refused to give it back at the end of the day saying I should know better than to be reading such a bad book. *sigh* The stupid teacher even called my Mom, though that didn't go over very well with my Mom as she's the one who gave me the book in the first place. I was lucky though, my Mom went to the school and chewed out the principal saying that the teacher needed to be better informed before she assumed that she was giving me bad stuff to read. And she insisted that the book be returned so I got it back. After that I never take any of my anime stuff with me to school. *sigh*

Just so you know I'm not really for or against abortion. I had to write this for school. ^_^ Let me know what you think, okay? Thanks! ^_^ I?m Not Wanted Darkness surrounds me I cannot see or hear I can sense something near me I reach out to it I am comforted as it protects me Warmth surrounds me It is soothing I am changing somehow I am excited! I can sense potential And I am eager to experience it I?m wanted! I am impatient! But it is too soon I must be patient I fall back into the darkness The time will come PAIN! It hurts! Something is tearing me apart! What is it! I reach once again for the presence that protects me A wall blocks me! I?m cold The warmth I felt before is fading Again I reach for the presence It pulls away I?m not wanted? Why? I cannot even cry What happened? Suddenly I understand What I want to be Will never be Why? Because; I?m not wanted

I guess it depends on the parents. My Mom loves anime so we have always watched it as long as I can remember. She told me once than anime was alot like american movies. You just had to watch the ratings when deciding what to watch. She does monitor what I watch though as I'm only thirteen. For instance I'm not allowed to watch FLCL until I'm older. Or X for that matter as she says it's too violent. >_< Ironically she thinks that people who don't bother to check out what anime is really about are the ones who are childish. Hehehe! She even told me anime is much better than the cartoons made here in america. If you are wondering my Mom is 40+ and says she has loved anime since back in the 70's ^_^

I was told about this place by SunfallE. ^_^ She's one of my best friends and she knows I love anime. So I joined OtakuBoards and then signed up for myOtaku. Hehehe! I tried visiting other forums but I like this one the best! The other are kind of boring since they aren't moderated very well and are full of tons of spam and junk messages.
This should be a reaffirmation of the evils of religious fundamentalism - any religion. Each major religion has played a major role in various forms of carnage throughout human history. Unfortunately, rigidity and zeal can lead to violence like this. So yes, it's not just about Muslim extremism. It's about religious extremism, period. I think it's something people should always be wary of, even as a non-violent force it can be destructive.
I so agree with that. Religious extremism is such a waste and so destructive. And downright evil. There's nothing even remotely religious when people behave like that. Personally I think they are behaving more like a cult like the KKK did in America. Anyone who does that can claim they are religious, but I think they are evil. :animeangr

Expect Fireworks when NASA blows up comet
Aaryanna replied to SunfallE's topic in General Discussion
I'm glad it suceeded since so much money was spent. Hehehe! After all that trouble I hope they get some good information out of it. ^_^ And that picture they got is awesome. I hope they got lots more of them. -
I have a question, so I thought I'd post it here instead of starting another thread. I tried to submit a fan art I did but on my myOtaku page it never shows that I have one. When I submit wallpapers it will show I have one even though it hasn't been approved yet. I double checked to make sure it fit the guideline so I was wondering if I should re-submit it. Thanks! ^_^

Wishing people a Happy 4th of July is nice, but it doesn't really give much to discuss. So how about what traditions do you follow or what types of activities do you do on this holiday? My dad's birthday is actually on the 5th of July so we pretty much ignore the 4th except to watch the big fireworks and then we have a huge barbeque and party the next day to celebrate both the 4th and my Dad's birthday. It's alot of fun! I look foward to that as much as I do to seeing the fireworks. ^_^ Some of my friends go camping or have a big get together with all their family. How about all of you? Oh and Happy Fourth of July! ^_^

Expect Fireworks when NASA blows up comet
Aaryanna replied to SunfallE's topic in General Discussion
Well I kind of agree with SunfallE that $333 is quite a bit of money just to attempt to blow up a comet. Or rather a tiny part of one. Yet I also think it's a good idea to try and learn about how things work. We can speculate that a comet is made of this and that, but until we actually look and see we will never know for sure. I haven't seen anything on the news so I don't know if it succeeded or not. It will be interesting to see if it actually worked. ^_^ -
What Does your sig, avi and username say about you.
Aaryanna replied to shinji172's topic in General Discussion
wow yeah. i put midori because green's my favorite color, and i do infact like waterfalls, or something of water... I guess you could say I'm like a fish. but I really like neko's too :catgirl: i only did kikiyo(u) because i dunno, i liked her picture there, and i was looking for something with a calm pic. and she looks kind of pretty there ... i don't have a siggy mainly because i'm new and i don't know how to... well i DO know how to... just not what the sizes are..... x3 it didn't work when i tired it... Aaryanne for you, i think you really like poodles and you're probably a dog lover too since all of the poodle pictures, and it's probably your poodle too (i'm just guessing). you like to write song lyrics, and have a lot of free time and are some-what out-going. your favorite season is fall/autumn. (again, guessing...) (am i close?) SpiritWolf- From your screenname, I would guess that you really like wolfs; you probabally like Wolf's Rain (I haven't seen it, but I'm just guessing....), you probabally also like the anime InuYasha, but you like Koga, or you like Sesshomaru Avitar- You probabally like watching sunsets and sunrises and get up early Signature- You a) don't think you need one OR b) you can't find one that matches your avitar or c) you want to change your avitar and add a signature that match
I really do like dogs, Bichon's are similar to poodles, but not quite the same. I don't write lyrics, but I take voice lessons and love to sing. ^_^ And you are correct about the seasons, I love fall. ^_^
:animecry: The avi is from Bloom Cosmetics and the banner is Stila (I forgot who made me the avi, but Sakurasuka made my banner) I'm not that technologically advanced, but I know how to use a computer and program the cell phone, VCR, Digital cable and whatever else I can find. I'm anti-war but my ex is military and I'm very girly girl at times. I collect make up. I am also sarcastic. MIdori- You like Kuro neko from Tri gun and waterfalls. YOu also like the color green because Midori is Japanese for green as pretty much everyone has either said or knows already) aaryanna- You like Bichon Frise dogs. Actually I fear you are obsessed with them since both your avi and banner contain the white fluffy dogs. Your custom title also says that you are Bichon frise's man's best friend or that they are man's best friend. One of my friends had a Bichon named angel. We called him a bichon frizzy in the summer because it's so humid up here. He died last year after he was hit by a car.
I admit it, I am a bit obsessed with my Bichon Frise. ^_^ I love dogs, cats and lots of different animals. I've thought about becoming a vet. I'm sorry to hear about your friends dog. :animecry: I had an American Eskimo before my Bichon, she was old and we had to have her put down. I really loved her too. It's not in my avatar, signature or custom title, but I definately love anime as well. ^_^ -
Spare me your pity??give me compassion.
That sums it up quite well actually. I think perhaps we are really looking for compassion and instead people give us pity since it's easier to pity someone instead of showing compassion. :animeswea

What Does your sig, avi and username say about you.
Aaryanna replied to shinji172's topic in General Discussion
Hehehehe! ^_^ This looks like fun! Okay I'll attempt to do MidoriWaterfall Obviously you like waterfalls as your title says green waterfall and your user name midori means greenery in Japanese. So you really, really like waterfalls. Your avatar suggests you like Inu-Yasha or it's just a calm picture representing you. Your lack of signature either says you don't feel the need for one, or because you are new you just haven't decided on one yet. ^_^ Basically I get the impression that like a waterfall you are ever constant and at peace with your surroundings. ^_~ Hehehe, don't know if I'm right or not, but that was fun! :animesmil -
Agreed. Currently, I'm wondering how manga fits into all of this. theOtaku.com has a Death Note hub--but thus far there have been no plans for Death Note to be made into an anime. So I was just curious as to how that relates to the grand scheme of things. Are there any plans for other stand-alone manga (that is, those which haven't been made into an anime) to receive their own hubs? ~Dagger~
That would be fun! I've got manga series that haven't been made into an anime and I would love to see reviews of them and other stuff too. By hub I assume you are reffering to how you can pull up a section with all the e-cards, wallpapers, and stuff for a series, right? If so Miscellaneous Anime is nice, but frustrating as you have to hunt though a lot of stuff if you are looking for an e-card or wallpaper of a paticular anime or manga. If a hub is added for a show or manga that doesn't have one, would it be possible to put things into the correct place? Though I imagine that would be quite an undertaking.

Your welcome. ^_^ One of my friends use to watch that show, so when I saw your post I figured it might be what you were looking for. So then I just used google to find a site with pictures so you could see for yourself if it was the correct one. ^_^ Although I never really watched it myself, I do still remember that wacky person who loved roses. And that it did resemble pokemon a little.
