ohhh...thanks for the help :D Is Prisma a trustable brand? I mean...I have their pastels, color pencils, water colors....I plan to get their markers eventually too...
-
*Sorry I put thi sin the wrong category or whatnot, it's been awhile since I've been here, and I forgot* And I've heard of all those brands except Derwent...I'm most familiar with the Prisma brand, so I guess I'll use that...regular printer paper can't handle watercolor pencils, right?
-
I'm currently in Exploration Mode :D That's what i call my search for different coloring tools for my art, like colored pencils, markers, etc. Right now, it's watercolor pencils! :D Okay my question now is...what's the best brand, and will it mess with my inking? 'Cause it's water, and I'm worried. And if it does affect the ink, what can I do to prevent that?

Eww....fluffy...-__-;;; But what's new in PSP 8? I went to Jasc's official site (which was bought by Corel) and I only so PSP X...but PSP X seems to be more for photos.
-
I have Paintshop Pro 7 and I'm aware that there are more advanced versions of PSP. Does anyone know the differences from PSP 7 to 8, 9, and X?
-
Yeah, I understand, I'm screentoning digitally too, I just want to make it seem like I screentoned traditionally, I like it better that way, but I don't want to waste so much money on my comic :animeswea
-
Yes, GTK, I understand ^.^ Thanks for the help, but I also have another question 'bout screentoning. Okay, I think (I'm about 99.9% sure) that artists screentoning the traditional way scratch off some of the screentone so that it has the fading off look. Does anyone have a brush or know of one for Paint Shop Pro that makes a similar effect? If it's a Photoshop brush, I think I can still work with that, since I also work with PS. Reason I'm asking is because I want that traditional manga feel when it comes to my screentoning. American screentoning is so...I can't even come up with a word for it! Hahaha
-
I'm screentoning a page of my comic, and I'm using this one tone, but I want it darker, so do I make the same exact layer set at multiply (for Paint Shop Pro), or do I jsut get a darker tone?

OoOoOOh....intresting, I never thought of it THAT way, *laughs* I alwats focus on the plot first, but it really is intresting...^^

I already tried the local Michael's Art Supply store, they only have black and colored ink, no white -_-;;;;; I'll try the other art stores but I bet I'd eventually have to go buy it online anyways. No to white gel pens because they pissme off cause of their bad ink flow -_-;;; And I use online screentones, so I guess I can look around for some white ones, thank you by the way ^^

I need helllppp...>< I have horrible inking, and I heard some manga-ka's use white ink to erase some of their inking. One question is, is white ink better than plain white out? And which whiteout is best if you can't get any white ink?
-
Yeah, Dark Horse is on the top of my list right now. There's no age restriction, I already checked, they have ways around the child labor laws, it's somewhere on the forum. Guess I'm still goin' for Dark Horse then....well thanks for trying to help anyways :)

Hahaha, okay, I've only done one days though, so you can at least see what Kyoko, the main character looks like. Quick question though, if I have a story idea that's not original, is it good to add original characters and events and make it seem original? So it doesn't seem like every other manga.

A member of this forum, I forgot who, mentioned TokyoPop is a bad publisher since they steal your rights, etc. (which I actually didn't notice until I looked closer at their terms of agreement and all that legal stuff :animesigh ) Right now, the top of my list for publishers to submit to is Dark Horse, but is there a better alternative just in case it doesn't work out with Dark Horse? I know there's gomanga.com, but like...I'm not 18 -_-;;;

The main character (Kyoko) is a tomboy with a short temper, so she always ends up whacking the king for being an idiot. None of my friends cared that the king was unrealistic, so thanks, I'll work on that. The storyline's...eggghhh, I can't explain it very much, it's just pretty much Kyoko trying survive the king's crazy kingdom. And like the king's country gets into wars with like 3 other countries, and gets involved with heaven, etc. So there's Kyoko's crazy over-protective brother that comes in, trying to drag Kyoko back home, there's the angel, Cremia, who's like Flonne from the game Disgaea (flaky and pure and happy-go-lucky), Kyoko's mother who's flaky too and kind and kinda...ehh....crazy, but just a tad. There's also Kyoko's dad who gets in a war against the king's country and wants to rule the entire Netherworld, so he first sends out his kids to pull that off. Who else is there....? Oh yeah, there's the savage monster-king who is only intrested in inflicting plain. Sorry if it's kinda funky, I can't explain very well, plus the storyline's not really clear...If I finish some pages, I'll post up some of my pages later.

It's supposed to be serious and like...funny at the same time. Like it's wierd, it switches off and on every now and then, but it's mostly fun, except for like, towards the end, I'm still thinking out that last scene though. Sorry, for not explaining that earlier! ><

My idea's not even original...but a lot of stories has some attachment to a previous stories like all the remakes and stuff. I wanted to give up on it, but 1, I've been planning this for 3 months, that's just be a waste of hours of work. And 2, my friend says it's not really original, but I should make it really good and more original. It's simple, a demon-girl tries to assasinate a demon king and fails horribly. In turn she must become his servant, but ends up as the commander of his army for some reason. The king is literally bipolar, what moment he's hot and sexy, next moment he's bouncing off the wall screaming "LOVE POWER!!!!" like crazy. The king's army is insane, there's 3 parts to the army. The regular humanoid demons, in other words, the average army. Then the big scary demons...who takes scaring classes -_-;; (I think I got that from Monster's Inc...) and then there's the insane demons of the army...and those include sneaky little magical turtles who can slip into the shadows and are insanely fast (ninja-like qualities are an effect of Teenage Mutant Turtles, *laughs*) and there's also the karate-fighting duck-demons who have a thing for gambling. And finally there's the bear-demons, cute cuddly things that like to hug, but can go beserk when pissed. It's a really long story with lotsa different stuff, so my summary's kinda wierd... And yeah, it's kinda...eh...maybe I'll post some of the sketches of the first chapter's page drafts, that might help. Or maybe my event outline, but I don't have it with me right now...

Comedy? I think that's considered an element, *laughs*

Ooh...okay, by the way, what brand of inks is good? I remember going to Michael's and finding out you can only get inks by asking one of the managers or something. So, jsut to be more exact, which is good that is avaliable at Michaels?
-
Oo thank you, I just bought some, 9 x 12 I think, I think I'll do the cover art and chapter art on those, since I'm going to try get published this year, and I know some of the art is actually bigger. Quick question before I get back to my inking question, is it better to draw your comics on paper twice the size of the original? Inking question: my inking pens aren't preforming very well, the ink flow is bad, so I dip them in my india black ink....is that a bad thing? Should I just get new pens?
-
Well what does everyone else use for coloring front pages and such? I've considered like copic markers, but I have a feeling they'd rip you off since so many artists use it, that and I absolutely hate markers...bad memories -_-;;;;
-
It's a good thing I didn't get any Faber Castels @_@ I was looking for it but didn't see it, lol. What's so good 'bout Bristol paper anyways?
-
Yeah, I'm intrested in that eraser stuff. I bought ink in a bottle...is there better inks? I don't know what brand I have right now, so...yeah... Emura's the creator of W Juliet, she isn't very popular but I still love her work ^^
-
I'm trying different stuff to color my art nowadays, and I read that Emura uses colored ink, so I figgered I can try it out. I got the inks (although I need better colors...) but.....are they supposed to be PERMANENT?! o_0 I spilled a bit on my finger and I was orange for a day! ><
-
Ack! Fuzzies...I hate those o_0 lol, thanks for the info though
