Are the old schoolpens even any good?
-
Faber Castel pens? It's worth givin' it a shot, my .005 Sakura Micron pen is likerunning out of king, and it's pissing me off. Can the Faber Castel pens be found in Michael's? There's only like 3 art stores I know of in my city, Michale's, Beverly's or something (freakin' expensive though), and this one place with the word "aaron" in it, I found my lightbox there for $30 >< Oh wells, at least I have one...

Ummm...lots of replies...^^ Well anyways, I ink on the exact same paper I drew on. And I actuallypress kinda hard using my pens :animesigh 'Cause when I used to ink with ballpoint pens or gel pens (which was up until like.......last year...) I used to press really hard, same thing for drawing in pencil. Guess I better loosen up on that and practice, I usually only ink the drawings I have that takes up a whole page with scenary and everything. I hardly ever use .005, since I press so hard, the ink doesn't come out too good... does everyone else ink their drawings on another piece of paper?? I have a lightbox, so I guess I can try it out,but like...I'm not sure, since I'm not posting this from my house right now, doesn't sakura pens go through the paper??

The paper...? Hmmm......okay, but I just use regular printer paper...unless it's the brand of paper itself....what's wrong with ballpoint pens? How should I be handling it, btw? I didn't even know there was a "proper" way to hold a pen...

I'm not freakin' old enough to get a credit card, thus, I can't buy like...half of the supplies I need for my manga I plan to send to Tokyopop. So the only way I can buy the stuff, is using my bro's credit card...and he'd kill me if I spent wayyyy too much on one little thing (he doesn't understand manga supplies are hecka expensive). So which online manga supplies store is cheap? I know a lot of the places would try and rip off aspiring manga-ka's in the US so need a little help...I tried looking at a few...their prices almost gave me a heart attack.... :animestun

I ink my art with the Sakura Pigma Mircon pens but everytime I ink something, it starts to bleed :( The regular ball point pens I used to use never did that (well depending on which pen I used...) Am I using the pens wrong or is it the pen itself? What does everyone else use for inking?

I'm trying to make my own manga but my panelling always turn out cruddy, help plz, especially with transitions from one place to another!

Ahahahahaha, thanx Delta, I'll try that when I go to Media class :animesmil Hope my teacher don't mind me messing with the scanner ;)
-
The scanner itself? Nutters, that's going to be a problem, guess I can't use the school scanner anymore... :animesigh Thanks though, now I know what to do....go find someone with a scanner! XD
-
I scanned a colored version of my drawing and the lighter colors didn't turn out so well and...the image's colors is so...I don't know how to explain it other than icky >< I really need this picture for school but CG-ing would be too complicated plus I don't know how and most tuts are on PS and I can only access PS on the school's computers! Please tell me if this has anything to do with the scanner itself or it's just that scanners can't scan colored images very well!

Thank you for all your help, ^-^ I just needed the measurements and such because I thought all manga had to be a certain size and I freaked I guess. :animestun Sounds wierd, yes? Well I just wanted to scan my work and post them up on my site and like reprint them and such... :animeswea I cause so much confusion! :animedepr Btw, han ki-tae, the measurements were almost exactly the size of the tokyopop manga (which I happened to have ^.^). Almost but not quite, pffttt, I don't care though, the measurements you agev were good enough for me! :animesmil The 6.9375 thing was uh...wierd...I'm not willing to try to find out 6.9375 with my ruler so I just rounded it down to 6.9, good enough I guess ;)
if you don't plan on printing it, it shouldn't matter~ But, if you want to print it, the Tokyo Pop site lists measurements and such. You can just measure up that area on the paper you are using and go from there. If you wanted to print out something with the area marked, you could make a sort of "master copy" with the guide lines on it and then just make copies. Honestly, I'm still a bit confused on what you want ^^;; *dies* By bounderies do you mean the area that is "printed" marked off from the area that will be cut off when printed? Or do you mean like boxes and panels and such?
I actually intend to scan it, clean it up and stuff, and then print it again....if something happened to my comic and I had no copies, I would die! :animestun And by boundaries I mean the second one, lol. I'm sorry I'm so confusing! :animestun

For the specifics that GTK asked for, I'm not making a web comic. Just one on paper. I must sound confusing :animesigh But the thing is I want to print out like an outline of the comic so when I actually draw it out, I know the boundaries. Still confusing? Well if you compare the sizes of manga pages to the regular printer page I'm using (8 1/2 by 11 I think), the manga page's way smaller! :animestun I tried going to Tokyopop too...the mechanical specification ma bobbery thing just confuses me...if someone knows how to use it, maybe that'll answer my question.

I'm sorry, I must sound stupid but I want to know the exact dimensions of manga pages, preferrably in pixels. I want to make my own comic and this is the only thing holding me down!! >.<
