Art Official OtakuBoards Graphics Tournament
Young Cheezy replied to Dagger's topic in Creative Works
This sounds like a lot of fun. Count me in on attending the Otakuboards Graphic Tournament (everyone else was bolding the OBGT, so I thought what the hell I might as well.) I know that I'm a new member to these forums and new members always seem to bail out when times like the time comes to submit something. But I will personally promise you that I will try my best to meet the deadlines, and participate in this tournament to my fullest and best ability. Have a good one, -Cheezy . -
I just typed out the longest message but I clicked an ad by accident and it all dissapeared. I think im gonna cry now. I said something along the lines of this: I could go on commenting on your art forever, but because of time restraints I'll critique the last two. Way of the Warrior Farewell Poem: I'm really digging the simplicity. The font style and color have been chosen nicely and the Japanese characters brought it all together. I also thought that the Japanese letters (or whatever they are) had the effect as if they were freshly painted on. Really nice touch if you ask me. One thing that bothers me, however, are there a little too many blank spots. Way of the Warrior Farewell Poem Part II: The stock photo with the skies and trees in the background is lovely, especially the colors. Everything looks nice, but the only nitpick im gonna say on this one is the green outer glow. It doesnt go well with the black font IMO. Everything else is spot on though-- at least from what I see. You get an A+ from Mr. Cheezy

Wow, thanks for the critique Retribution. I'm actually starting to like this place, because every other forum I've posted my art at they either say "its gewd" or "it sux". But I can really improve from comments like this. Anyway, the stroke didnt go as well as I planned it would. I was going for the effect that the skydiver would be standing out against the background. And to answer your question about the font: I've seen this font lots of places too. And I'd be glad to help you out. Its called "Scriptina" and you can find it at a lot font websites. If your having any trouble finding it give me a PM and I'll hook you up

Hello Otakuboards members. This is my first time posting a banner on this forum, and since most of you dont know who I am here is a breif history about me in the graphics world. I've been working on graphics, whether it be spriting, vectoring, or banners since July 2003. I love creating things from scratch and browsing other peoples galleries. I would really like to improve so I am posting my artwork here hoping for some constructive critiscm. Ive been working on graphcis on and off so keep in mind this is my first stab at a banner for 3 roughly three months. After coming across threads like this on various other message boards, I decided to try it out here on otakuboards (where there at least some intelligent people). This is basically how the Colourist Unite thread will work: I, or someone else will post lineart to color. Otakuboard members (thats you reading the thread) load up the lineart to there photoshop/psp or whatever else they use for there art and they will color the lineart provided. When there done they will post there finished results here. Other otakuboard members will critique there art and coloring. This is open to EVERYONE. Novice to professional. This is not a tournament, graphic battle, or competition. It is too improve ones skill in coloring and to have some fun. I'll open the floor withthis (drawn by scott ruggles) Anyone can step up to the plate and color it. Here is the coloring job i did for this: (thumbnail, click to enlarge) So dont be shy, give it your best shot and post it here. What does your birth month reveal about you?
Young Cheezy replied to Osaka's topic in General Discussion
Like the original poster, I was born in August aswell. Just to refresh your memory (and make this post seem longer) here is what it says:
Love's to joke. attractive. suave and caring. brave and fearless firm and leadership qualities. knows how to console others. too generous and egoistic. takes high pride inone self. thirsty for praises. extraordinay spirit. easily angered. angry when provoked. easily jealous observant. careful and cautious. thinks quickly. independant thoughts. love's to lead and be lead. loves to dream. talented in the arts, music and defense. sensitive but not petty. poor resistance against illnessess. learns to relax. hasty and trusty. romantic. loving caring and love's to make friends.
Lets see, its accurate for the most part. I do love to joke, and love to make friends, but I wonder why its only for august. I can ask 10 people and im sure at least 9 would say they love to joke and make friends. Attractive- hell yeah im attractive. Or at least thats what the ladies think ;) As much as I hate to admit I am not brave and fearless at all. Im easily scared from little things, so thats one strike. Im gonna skip around to talented in the arts, and defense. This is really true for me, or at least I consider it to be. I feel as if I'm a good artist for my age, and thats what others say too. Everything else is accurate in one way or another. Its scary how sometimes these things can be so precise. Then again, I can relate to almost every month here, and I'm sure everyone else can in some way. -
There really is nothing better than bringing your drawings to life with color. I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 if I am seriously coloring or drawing, and if i'm making a comic strip, I'll use MS paint. Adobe Photoshop costs a LOT of money though. If you really have the time and patience, I'd suggest buying Photoshop. You should try it out by getting the Trial Version at the Adobe website and see how it suits you. Here is something I colored in photoshop (proportions are off, I know) and this is something I drew and colored in ms paint. Just to give you an example. So to sum it all up, you CAN color stuff in MS paint, but your pretty restricted. In Photoshop, you can experiment on and on, and the possibilities are pretty much endless. Hope that helped.

Oh man, long, LONG ago I stumbled across this site. It felt like yesterday I hit that "Not Registered" button. Oh. yeah. I did join yesterday. How did I find it? I was investigating through one of my friends computers and I saw this in the bookmarks. It seemed like the only normal website on his bookmark list...so I decided to click it. I looked through it, and joined because I had nothing else to do.

"I listen to Kidz Bop because the loud drum beats and the shouting of 50 year old men in metal hurts my ear drums." Put your guns down, Im just joshing you. I listen to Alternative Rock, R & B, insturmental, and whatever fits the mood. So If i'm 'madly in love' I'll put on some R&B, and if I'm having a bad day I might listen to some Metal (I never listen to Satanic or Death) and Alternative Rock. If I'm trying to go to sleep, or clear my mind I'll listen to insturmental music. Nowaday though, I'll listen to Foo Fighters, Incubus, RHCP, and stuff like that. There really is nothing on my mind, so I just put on anything because silence freaks me out.
