Wherever The Wind Blows Karl didn’t mind being on Earth, nor did he hate being in human form as much as he let Gavrie think he did. Though he was sure Gavrie knew that. It was true that he preferred the other... okay if he was honest with himself he always preferred it, but that was not uncommon among his kind. The morning air was crisp and refreshing, and even the taint from human technology couldn’t spoil it. There was a brisk breeze scouring the small town and though the air had a distinct chill to it, both of them ignored it as they walked down the main street of the nearly abandoned town. Most of the tiny shops were locked with closed signs hanging in the windows. “Either they don’t understand the danger, or they can’t leave.” Karl commented when it became apparent that they were being stared at by the remaining inhabitants. “The vampires may be gone, but the ward keeping their pets under control hasn’t completely eroded yet.” Gavrie answered. “So long as they stay in the town, they’re fine.” Karl looked around though it wasn’t really necessary. He couldn’t outright sense humans in the same manner that Gavrie could, but it wasn’t too hard to pick up on little things that indicated others were about. Some were openly watching them from behind the windows of the few shops that were open. A few were out and about, though they shied away from the pair as if they expected trouble. “It doesn’t look like you’re going to get much this time.” Karl remarked. “So what are we waiting for? It’s clear that the rats have already jumped ship.” Gavrie had told him where they were, but he didn’t remember and honestly didn’t care. It was pretty, with the endless rolling green hills and forests that stretched as far as the eye could see. Only broken by spurts of human habitation and the roads that connected the various towns. Karl turned his attention to their target, an older millhouse just outside the town. The top of it could be seen above the tree tops. They followed the road as it left the town, meandered a bit, and then vanished into the trees. The moment they were out of sight, all pretenses at being human was dropped and they made for the mill at top speed. ------------------------- The scimitar in Karl's left hand came up in a lethal arch that started at the floor before effortlessly separating the undead dragon’s head from its body. Before the head had hit the ground it was split in half by Karl’s other scimitar. The pieces fell to the floor with a loud clatter as the rest of the body turned to ash. Karl looked up and over to the few remaining wraiths that Gavrie was in the process of dispatching. How long had it been since he’d had a real battle? Even with vampires around, these kind of creatures weren’t that difficult to deal with. Only in this case, there weren’t even any vampires to take care of. Pity. There were only a few groups left as they were making quick work of the creatures that were pinned up in the basement of the mill. Let’s see… Eeny - Meeny - Miny - Mo… He took off, heading for one of the last cluster of wraiths, the blade in his left hand trailing along the floor but not quite touching. At the last moment he pushed off the floor, flying to the right, his outstretched foot hitting the wall at the same time his left hand brought the blade up to cut the wraith in half from the floor up. He pushed off the wall with his right hand extended; the momentum propelled him forward to skewer another wraith as he landed on the ground. Without turning, Karl raised his left hand out to the side, the blade held horizontal. The wraith, unable to halt its rush in time, impaled itself on the blade with a screech. Karl grinned, braced himself, and then pulled backwards yanking the blades from both creatures before they came apart. With a sigh he sent his weapons back to their resting place before turning to face Gavrie who was finishing up any cleansing that was needed. “Well that was rather, anti-climatic.” He couldn’t keep the disappointment from his voice. “I told you it was nothing more than clean up.” Karl leaned up against the wall before reaching up to lace his fingers together behind his neck. He sighed. “I know I was just expecting something a little more challenging, that’s all.” Gavrie grinned. “Perhaps I should have let you stay rusty.” Karl snorted. “As if you’d let that happen, slave driver that you are…” He trailed off and answered Gavrie’s grin with one of his own. He pushed off the wall when Gavrie was finally done and followed him outside, the morning sun still shining brightly as they took to the sky. He halted and waited for Gavrie to take a moment to check for any new messages. “Well now,” Gavrie was pouring over something on the tiny screen of his cell phone. He looked to Karl, “How do you feel about a detour?” “What kind of detour?” “To pay someone a visit.” “Ahhh, I see.” Karl shrugged. “Fine by me.” He waited while Gavrie spent a moment to send off a return message to whoever they were going to be visiting. Once he was done, he followed along as Gavrie headed towards their next stop. “So,” he dragged the word out slowly. “Who are we going to see?” “Someone I can trust.” Gavrie answered. Karl’s eyebrow shot up. “Do I know this person?” “I’m sure you'll recognize him when you see him.” “Oh really?” He wondered who it was. “Well yeah,” Gavrie glanced at him briefly, a bit of a smirk gracing his face. “It’s not every day you run into someone who has a thing for wearing blue.” Blue…? Karl opened his mouth to speak and then closed it shut with a snap. Ohhhh, right. Him.

This couldn’t be right could it? Jared had no means to measure time, but it felt like he had been floating in this unknown darkness for days. How that was possible? It couldn’t be. To think otherwise was absurd. It seemed as if his mind was too alert for a dream and yet if he really was awake, how could he go for days without feeling hungry, thirsty or tired? And the biggest problem of all was that he still couldn’t seem to move. This endless floating that never went anywhere was starting to get old. One didn’t have dreams that you couldn’t wake up from. One didn’t ‘float’ for days without feeling hunger or something other the same damn relaxed state. And his inability to figure out what the hell was going on was starting to infuriate him. Underneath that, though he didn’t want to admit it, was a growing feeling of fear. That was bugging him more than anything. He hadn’t been afraid of something since… He quickly crushed that line of thought. He didn’t want to listen to them; the whispers in the back of his mind were something he didn’t want to hear. They made no sense after all. The New Alliance wouldn’t bother to go to the trouble to transport him to wherever he was only to kill him after all. And if he really was dead, why would he be aware of it? The idea of an afterlife was nothing more than idealistic nonsense the slaves made up to somehow make themselves feel better. Jared tried to force his mind off the thought, but he couldn’t seem to get it to leave. What’s the matter with me? Since when had he been unable to school his own thoughts? Since when was I somehow stuck in some limbo that I can’t change? He shoved that aside and focused on how he could feel his heart beating; at least he thought he could. And if he put every bit of effort into it, he could bite the side of his tongue and taste blood, but he couldn’t see or feel anything else at all. What the hell is going on! Was this some new drug designed to make him think he was dead? Were they doing something to him and he was stuck in this place until they were done? All sorts of bizarre theories ran through his mind, each one more absurd than the last until he managed to muster enough will to crush them. He could tell that it wasn’t going to be so easy this time around, he was barely managing to keep the feeling of being out of control at bay. It was with great irritation that he realized that he was almost hyperventilating, his breathes coming in quick harsh pants. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t seem to control it. What if they had put him under only for it to go wrong? What if he really was dead or close to it? The thought ran through him like a powerful jolt of electricity, painful and cutting. Jared yelled in protest, as loud as he could. He heard nothing, not even a faint echo. It's not true! It can't be! He thought frantically. But since he couldn’t even hear his own voice, didn't that make it real? Because if it really was true, the thought that he was either dead or dying, he wouldn't be able to talk anyway. This time the feelings of panic and fear that he had been pushing away for so long refused to lie still and his mind spun in circles that he couldn’t stop.

However, I'm severely saddened by the rollback of civil rights that gays experienced on Nov. 4. Several states passed propositions against gay rights that dampened my good spirits for the positive and progressive victory that Obama secured. Change we can believe in meets traditionalism we can oppress with.
It certainly looked like an oxymoron from where I'm standing. Considering that several of the states in question were blue in the end. I have to agree though, that part of the election really was sad to see.

I already voted earlier today, other than the fact that I got rained on, nothing unusual happened. I seemed to have picked a good time since early afternoon translated into a line that was less than ten minutes. It's a shame that voting won't make much difference, the last polls did not show enough of a swing for Obama to get the state of Utah. Pity.

But the more Samantha talked, the more surreal the situation became. If he didn’t know better, since he had actually read the profile notes on Samantha, he would have thought he was talking to someone else altogether; a twin or someone impersonating her. He had refused the order to restrain Natalia since her actions and speech simply did not match up with what he had observed. He had expected Samantha to come to her senses instead of turning on both of them. And now, having been given the option to join Natalia in the shuttle or die, it was painfully clear. He had been used and played like a fool from the beginning. Jeff didn’t know what she was referring to when she mentioned ‘The Mission’ or ‘The Shirota Strain,’ and just who the hell was Arthur? One thing he did know. Both he and Natalia were in serious trouble. He doubted that Samantha would actually trust them to keep quiet about what she had just done and a quick check, showing that they had been locked in only proved it. She must have used her clearance to override the shuttle’s system! Jeff tried entering his own access code. The small little screen simply flashed the words in red ‘access denied.’ She’s going to kill us both to cover her tracks! He reached for his sidearm even though he knew it wasn’t powerful enough to force the door open. “What’s wrong?” Natalia started to ask before she stumbled backwards and nearly fell when the shuttle shook violently. Before she or Jeff could wonder what had just happened, a moment later it lurched wildly, sending both of them crashing into the side of the small emergency shuttle. Jeff peered out the side window, he couldn’t see much but it looked like the shuttles were straining against the electronic restraint system that kept them in place; indicating that the Von Braun was out of control. His observation was confirmed a moment later when with a lurch the shuttle they were in started sliding across the floor. “Jeff!” Natalia screamed in warning, he didn’t bother to respond, he could see it for himself. The Von Braun was already entering the atmosphere of the planet they had been on a collision course for. More than anything he wanted to find a way out in order to figure out what the hell Samantha was up to, but they had to survive the crash first. Natalia was already trying to get strapped into one of the seats of the shuttle and Jeff abandoned watching what was up in order assist her. He had barely managed to get strapped in when the entire shuttle was sent rolling before it crashed heavily into something, knocking the breath out of him as well as Natalia who was hanging on tightly to the armrests of the chairs. Then, what could only be the ship itself hitting the planet in question, caused the entire thing to shudder horribly as a terrible roar filled the inside of the tiny shuttle. To their horror the roof of the shuttle was ripped clean off before with a final shudder everything seemed to come to a halt. Both of them waited for what seemed like forever as smoke obscured their view of the outside. When it finally cleared a bit, both of them couldn’t help but start in surprise. The skyline of wherever they had crashed was clearly visible. Jeff started undoing the straps to his seat. “Oh my God.” Natalia choked. Jeff looked back up to see that the smoke had cleared even further to reveal that a huge section of the ship itself had been torn off. It looked like they were still inside the actual ship, but to have suffered that kind of damage upon entry… chances were, they were stuck on this world for good. “Come on.” Jeff started helping Natalia. “You’re not hurt are you?” She shook her head. “I think I’m fine,” She smiled wanly, “other than some bruises. What about you?” “Same.” Jeff took a moment to check his sidearm before then attempting to raise anyone on the Von Braun. Other than some static, his receiver seemed to be dead. He looked around until he found the best spot for them to crawl out. The ship had landed and was resting on a slant, not enough to prevent walking, but enough that it made standing upright difficult. He looked around some more. It seemed like most of the shuttles had been lost when part of the hull had been ripped off. One of the ones up against the wall caught his attention since unlike the others, the power was clearly on. Without hesitation he drew his sidearm. “What’s the matter?” Natalia said in hushed tones. “The only shuttles that had been turned on was the one we were in and the one Samantha was going to use.” He pushed her gently back until she was behind him. “I have to see if she survived or not.” He glanced back at Natalia who merely nodded briefly. But when they went to check, all they found was part of Samantha's jacket that had caught on one of the seats and ripped off. Jeff looked further to find that the emergency supplies on the shuttle were gone. There were no signs that it had been used. If Samantha had been hurt and used any of the supplies, she had kept all of the wrappers. “Great, just great.” He groaned once they were done checking. “Unless this is the only area of the Von Braun that is damaged, were stuck here, with someone who wants everyone dead.” He slammed his fist into the wall of the shuttle. This was not what he had signed up for. “Jeff.” He looked over to Natalia who was so far handling things rather well. “What should we do?” She was shaking a bit, holding back what looked like fear to him. Not that he blamed her, he could feel the same urge to panic as well. He ruthlessly crushed it. “We need to help the passengers, but what should we do about her?” “Let’s see what’s going on first.” He finally said. “We don't know which way she went anyway and if we’re lucky, she’ll have found a shuttle that’s working and left.” “And if we’re not?” “We’ll worry about that when and if it happens.” He said firmly. He motioned for her to follow him out of the shuttle. More than anything he wanted to track down Samantha, but at the moment, the ship and passengers had to come first. But if he came across her… he clenched his fists in anger, he’d get some answers as to what the hell was going on.

Let It Out ?So they?re sending out another group to die for no reason.? Adrian, along with the others was sitting in Nathan?s living room. Adrian didn?t have to guess as to where Nathan had gotten the information, he knew. Nathan had already given them the details; another group was being sent in to deal with rouge vampires, just like they had been sent in after the Count. How Gavrie had managed to find out in advance was a bit of a mystery, but Adrian was positive they could trust the tip. Gavrie may have been quiet about it, but it wasn?t that hard for him to put two and two together. It certainly explained why he had handed him over to Karl for the first three years of training. He had let Karl handle the basics while he was looking into what the hell was going on back home. Hindsight, as humans called it, was always crystal clear. ?I?m sure there?s a reason,? Nathan asserted before grinning like he always did. ?And I?m not sure if I really want to know.? Alex said softly. He looked up to see the others staring at him. ?What I mean is,? He started to explain, ?I?? He sighed. ?Never mind.? ?You don?t have to skirt around it you know.? Adrian had his own ideas on what was going on. It didn't take too much to realize that someone was obviously up to no good. ?Someone doesn?t give a damn if we die or if they are sending us to our deaths.? ?I know that?s likely the case, but still?? He reached up to scratch Nall?s ears. ?It doesn?t matter at the moment, what does is keeping it from happening again.? -I?ve turned into such a cynic haven?t I?- Adrian laughed at himself. -You?ve always been like that.- Astera said flatly. ?The others aren?t. Well, I don?t know about Nathan and Isen? or Lucia for that matter.- She conceded. ?No it doesn?t matter,? Adrian agreed. ?At least not at the moment.? He looked over to Nathan and Isen, the latter merely shrugging slightly instead of saying anything. ?Right, let?s get going,? Nathan looked to each one of them before he got up and took off, the others following along as he ghosted up and through the ceiling to his abode. Adrian was excited. This would be the first time he would have the chance to truly test what he had learned without Gavrie or Karl around as a backup. Adrian glanced over at Alex who was flying to the right of him and then looked forward a bit to Nathan and Isen who were leading the way. Well not completely on his own, it may have been seven years but he still remembered that spar between Gavrie and Nathan. There was no doubt in his mind that Nathan was as good if not better than Gavrie was. He laughed inwardly. It would still be fun to test what he had learned, just as it would be amusing to see Alex in action too. They had only gotten to spar a few times but it was clear that he hadn?t been sitting around doing nothing during the past seven years. ?You ready for some fun?? Adrian asked Alex. ?I don?t know if I?d call it fun.? Alex replied. ?I would. I know what you?ve been up to while I was gone. It?s one thing to simply move in and clean up after the mess has happened and yet another to stop it from being a disaster in the first place.? Adrian grinned. ?I didn?t ask for training just to come back to Earth and sit on my butt and do nothing after all.? He paused for a moment. ?So tell me something, why did you ask for training?? ?I don?t want to die.? ?Is that all?? Adrian pressed. Alex stared at him for a moment. ?I don?t want anyone else to die either.? ?That?s what I thought.? ?What do you mean?? Alex seemed puzzled. ?In order to keep others from facing what we did, you had to get training to protect not only yourself, but others too.? ?You make it sound nobler than it really is.? Alex answered him. -Adrian, I think we should?- Astera started. He didn?t need her to finish since he knew what she was thinking, and ironically he felt the same. He had always liked the kid and recent developments only reinforced that. -Yeah, I know. I think we can trust him.- ?I don?t think so.? Adrian countered. ?By the way Alex," He changed the topic, "what do you know about bonding??

First of all do not 'alter' my statements to fit your views please, that's doing what James already talked about here:
people are answering your question - clearly there are people here who think that abortion is justified in some cases. But when they assert that view, you're then trying to tell them that they're either a) wrong, b) ignorant or c) "just don't know".
That's a waste of everyone's time if you're going to continue to declare your view to be correct and everyone else incorrect.
Finally! Something more substantial. Though can you please cite specific sections of this report? I did a search for the term "rape", and there were no studies/conclusions about how abortion affects women after rape, or molestation. There will need to be more of a requirement on your part other than "look at this link" when the link is as massive as the one I have been provided.
The burden of education lies solely on you. It is a comprehensive report on the correlation between mental health and the effect of abortion. If you are unwilling to take the time to read it, clearly you are uninterested in truly understanding how complex an issue this is. It is not my job to summarize something for you when you're perfectly capable of learning on your own. I've given you a starting point, if you are unwillingly to actually read it, then this discussion is completely useless at this point. I've done you the courtesy of wading through your massive posts and links to equally massive sources that are often biased. I gave you something in return, something more credible than anecdotal reports and religious viewpoints. Plus anecdotal reports are useless because they are based on personal observation, case study reports, or random investigations rather than systematic scientific evaluation. The report I linked you to address the limitations of the other types of data you have been linking to. As it says at the very beginning: The Task Force on Mental Health and Abortion is charged with collecting, examining, and summarizing the scientific research addressing the mental health factors associated with abortion, including the psychological responses following abortion, and producing a report based upon a review of the most current research. If you're going to claim that abortion is harmful to a woman, you first need to understand whether or not having one actually is mentally harmful. That report will clarify that for you.

The burden of proof is on you now (SunfallE, James, Indi, ect). Either provide proof of your claims, or accept the evidence that I have provided and abandon this idea of complete unrelated individuality of rape incidences somehow makes things O.K. due to a fear of "generalizing".
You're still not listening, I am well acquainted with the material that you have linked to. Even if up to 85% of said victims would rather not abort, it does not address that small percentage (which is what I am arguing over to begin with) where it would be better for their mental health if they did. You continue to dismiss the fact that there will be those cases. You're still trying to treat them as a blanket condition instead of an incident that requires consideration on a case-by-case basis. This does not take into account if the mother is too young, or has mental or other health issues. But since you seem to be unwilling to listen to anything I say and keep insisting that abortion is wrong based on your own moral views. And insisting that it does more harm by linking to material that is based on the emotions you were saying shouldn't come into play... I suggest you take the time to read some research that isn't so biased when it comes to understanding mental health when associated to one having an abortion. Fair warning, the report runs about 70 pages long. Mental Heath and Abortion. But like I and others have been saying, it's not a simple matter. If you want specific cases where abortion over a case involving rape was better, you're moving into asking for confidential information that due to privacy laws, are not mine to disclose.
For the case where the life of the mother is in danger: given our current medical advancement and ability to frustrated Death's advances at almost every turn (save age and a few others), how often is this scenario actually going to happen? (If someone has some current stats, I'd love to see them, since I know basically nothing of current pregnancy danger-rates.)
This is not my field (obviously) however my understanding is that most complications are treatable, except for in the case of an ectopic pregnancy. In an ectopic pregnancy, the start of new life implants on the wall of the fallopian tube (or some other tissue) instead of on the wall of the uterus. As it grows, the fallopian tube will rupture causing severe blood loss and probably death. In these cases, my understanding is that there is no way to save the child’s life. Based on this article here: Ectopic Pregnacy 2% of all pregnancies will be this type. The research on it isn't recent, but as of 1992, that meant over 100,000 pregnancies a year. I'm sure by now the number is higher by virtue of the population being greater. Anyway... -------------------- I see the ignorance continues with the blanket attempt to dismiss the seriousness of sexual assault by claiming the problem is the victim’s emotional state. This ignores the violent criminal aspect of rape, and the trauma that causes the severe emotional distress in the first place, in order to dismiss it as a genuine problem. Let’s not forget that PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) is a genuine medical condition brought on after a terrifying ordeal that involved physical harm or the threat of physical harm. Incidents such as torture, being kidnapped or held captive, abuse, accidents, natural disasters and rape are traumatic events that can trigger it. To be completely clear here, PTSD is the only diagnostic category in the DSM that is based on etiology. In order for a person to be diagnosed with PTSD, there has to have been a traumatic event that triggered it. When identifying trauma and it adaptive symptoms (how the person copes with it), It is more useful to ask "What HAPPENED to this person" rather than "what is WRONG with this person." Focusing on the concept that it is the victim’s emotions that is the problem completely ignores what caused those emotions in the first place, as James already explained. This is not a normal emotional state and working with someone to find the best treatment to restore a more healthy state isn’t something that can be decided with blanket statements that treat all cases as identical. Rather it is the subjective experience of the events that constitutes the trauma. In other words, trauma is defined by the survivor since each experience will vary as to the actual events involved. Two people could experience the same or similar event and one might be traumatized while the other is not. It simply is not possible to make blanket generalizations like “A is traumatic for all who experience it” or “B is not traumatic because no one was physically hurt.” A person who has lived through such an event will most likely never feel as if the event didn’t happen. However the distressing effects of PTSD are completely treatable. It depends on the circumstances and what happened. As I said before, attempting to apply your beliefs or moral values when treating someone has no place here. It must be done on a case by case basis since the treatment that will work the best will vary. A lot. This isn’t someone who messed up or got pregnant because they forgot to use protection. This is someone who had that choice violently made for them. Another point to consider is that it’s estimated that 60% of assaults are not reported. Source: RAINN This opens up the possibility of the number of pregnancies resulting from rape being twice what I quoted earlier, 6000 a year instead of 3000. So once again, attempting to sweep that many people under the rug just because it's considered a small percentage is completely absurd. To make abortion illegal in this type of situation completely ignores the reality that there will be situations where abortion will be one of the best options to help the victim recover. In closing, I find the flippant disregard for the seriousness of this type of trauma highly inappropriate, insensitive and downright ignorant. And since James already covered that part as well, I'm going to leave it at that.

I’ve been silent on this up till now, but I’m going to toss in a little on the attempt to act like considering pregnancies from rape is a non-issue. I actually work in a field that deals with these victims so I see an incredible amount of ignorance going on in this thread. I’d cover other issues, like better programs to prevent pregnancy in the first place, but others have already done that so I’ll leave it alone. Anyway… Blanket assumptions on the issue of abortions concerning traumatic events like rape are not only useless but a slap in the face of the person who was assaulted. It’s bad enough that someone raped them, but to turn around and then invade their lives again by making their choices for them is just as bad if not worse than what happened. In the end all you’re doing is something similar to what the rapist just did, you’re making their choices for them. Sexual abuse makes people feel invaded, damaged and like their lives are out of their control. Before you do anything, stop and try to imagine how this feels. Then (and this is crucial) try to do what helps them rather than what makes you feel better. At this stage, your religion, or your beliefs, they are not a part of the solution and have no place in how someone who has experienced this is treated. You have to listen to what they want and focus on what they actually need. To facilitate recovery, it is central to that process that they are able (and allowed to do so freely) to make their own decisions to begin regaining influence over what happens in their lives in order to rebuild the trust and strength that was violated when they were raped. Your role is to help support them, not take over and make all of their choices for them. It is common for loved ones, who are also distressed, to step in and be too protective, or to treat them differently and then make the mistake of trying to make their decisions for them. The same for well meaning but uninvolved legislators, they think they are helping by attempting to make these laws when all this does is add to the problem, and frustration that comes from the attack in the first place. The whole point of therapy for rape victims is the give them guidance and support to help them get the aid they need to begin making the decisions necessary to rebuild their lives. Not for you or anyone else to tell them what you THINK they need. The biggest objection to allowing abortion for rape that I hear is the allocation that it’s rare. Unfortunately, it’s not anywhere as rare as people THINK it is. It’s the overwhelming numbers of people who get abortions for other reasons that make it seem rare. To put it in perspective here’s a little bit of information on that: Pregnancies Resulting from Rape In 2004-2005, 64,080 women were raped. According to medical reports, the incidence of pregnancy for one-time unprotected sexual intercourse is 5%. By applying the pregnancy rate to 64,080 women, RAINN estimates that there were 3,204 pregnancies as a result of rape during that period. This calculation does not account for the following factors which could lower the actual number of pregnancies:

Rape, as defined by the NCVS, is forced sexual intercourse. Forced sexual intercourse means vaginal, oral, or anal penetration by offender(s). This category includes incidents where the penetration is from a foreign object such as a bottle. Certain types of rape under this definition cannot cause pregnancy.
Some victims of rape may be utilizing birth control methods, such as the pill, which will prevent pregnancy.
Some rapists may wear condoms in an effort to avoid DNA detection.
Victims of rape may not be able to become pregnant for medical or age-related reasons.
This calculation does not account for the following factors which could raise the actual number of pregnancies:

Medical estimates of a 5% pregnancy rate are for one-time, unprotected sexual intercourse. Some victimizations may include multiple incidents of intercourse.
Because of methodology, NCVS does not measure the victimization of Americans age 12 or younger. Rapes of these young people could results in pregnancies not accounted for in RAINN's estimates.
Source: RAINN An average of around 3,000 pregnancies a year is a hell of a lot of people and the statistics don’t do that justice. The very idea that we should tell ALL of these victims to just suck it up or that we even have a clue as to what path will best facilitate their recovery is not only arrogant, but ignorant and short sighted. They need to be handled on a case by case basis since all of them are going to differ. You don’t toss out an option just because you personally find it repugnant. You get your head out of the sand and look at the whole picture and help that person find the best road to recovery. Whether you or anyone else likes it or not is irrelevant, there will be cases where abortion will be the best option. I haven't even touched on the psychological trauma and damage this does because it's staggering, whether a person becomes pregnant or not. Making it too complex for broad generalizations. And that includes the idea that abortions for this would be useless and make it worse.
