Some stuff here
I find it amusing that you've posted four times in this thread without actually answering the question directly. =P When I think about being remembered for something, I think about the work I do with victims of domestic violence. If just one person remembers how I worked to help them improve their life, then I'm good. That is what I like to do, even if it's hard to see so many people keep going back to the person who put them in the center to begin with. I'm sure my family and friends would remember me for what I do as well. So if I were to want something to be remembered, that would be it.

I survivied my first week of high school. :D
Horendithas replied to Lady Aura's topic in General Discussion
Congrats on surviving. =P I'm sure you'll do fine and definitely don't hide in the shadows when it comes to talking to others. As for college, that will depend. I personally hated High School but loved college. Either way, just worry about High School for now, the time to worry about college will come up soon enough. -

Perfect place to terminate the narrative. The implications are staggering.
Agreed. I'm thinking Korey got the short end of that paticular little deal there. =P

I also knew that more touchy subjects such as these have a tendency to go wrong because people aren't able to look at things from an objective and unbiased standpoint. Not to say that i did... I just think it's fun to debate this sort of stuff.
It's been argued to death so quite a few of us find the topic boring, far more than threads with cat pictures in them.
No one wants to learn at all; they just want to argue, to point-and-counterpoint endlessly, without ever reaching the Truth on one side or the other.
I wouldn't go that far. Some people do actually want to learn. It's those who are only interested in arguing that spoil it for everyone else. So people walk away since they have better things to do with their time. =P Anyway, if I were to seriously discuss this subject, I'd probably prefer a classroom setting instead of a message board. Still, the actual topic itself doesn't really interest me period. If I ever do want to learn more, I'll hunt down some material and read it. EDIT: Oh and I blame the fact that I posted in this thread on you Mr. Morphy. Here I was blissfully reading it without responding and you just had to say something. Bah.

I really only have one thing to say on this Darren, and that is... stop shooting things down until after you've given it a try. So what if you don't see someone you talk to on the elevator again. The point is to actively try to talk to others. If you do that, instead of thinking about how you feel others are doing, you'll get better at learning to talk to new people. Think about it, realistically, you don't know if other people have lots of friends or not. Just cause you see people talking to one another, doesn't mean they are friends. For all you know, they've just met and are talking to one another in order to make friends. I'm willing to bet that many of them are in the same boat you are. I hear a lot of assumptions in what you think is going on when you don't really know. So give going to the cafeteria a try, you don't have to have someone with you for that. You've assumed that not having a roommate handicaps you when you could have had one that totally sucked. So that's not really a handicap if you think about it. So my advice to you is... stop thinking something won't work, just do it. Make a point of talking to several people a day. Either on the elevator or in the classroom or at the cafeteria. Somewhere along the line you'll run into someone who is looking for a friend just like you are.

I like the caption on this one better Sabrina. I can just imagine our own resident Basement Cat snatching some unsuspecting member. =P

Oh? I didn't know they'd ban these types of threads on forums.
They're not banned, we just prefer that members do more than silly posts of so and so would kick this person's butt! Without bothering to go any further than that. When people take the time to explain a little of why they think the other side would win, then that type of thread is fine. Like this one here, so carry on and have fun coming up with reasons why one side would topple the other. =P I can't really say since I've only seen a few episodes from each of these series so I'm not sure which side would win since I don't know enough. I tried to get into Elfen Lied, but I found the psychological aspect warped for effect/fanservice and that kind of had me going... meh, so I didn't bother to finish it.

Start with the secrets Mr. Morphy. =P I'm still trying to pin down some of the details of Astera's past... she's being terribly quiet about it. So not like her at all really. I do have other things to cover but now is not the time to add them to the story and I don't want to do more of the same deal of Adrian and Karl training. I think people got the picture on that already. Anyway, if I can get the mouthy fairy to loosen up... then I'll post. Otherwise, I have nothing to add at the moment.

I'm not really into swimming, but once it became apparent that Michael Phelps was gunning for eight gold medals and doing a good job of it, I started following that progress. It's just been fun to watch that unfold. I've sort of watched other events, but that's the only area I've really kept up with.

Well I wouldn't say that I could do it in my sleep, but I've played Diablo II enough that the first level of difficulty is like a cakewalk. Once you've played on Nightmare and Hell... that first level is so easy that you just fly through it in no time. Star Ocean: Till the end of Time is the same in that respect. That first level of difficulty is just so easy in comparison that once you've played the other... it's really easy to just breeze through.

I'm in the US, though Sabrina already knows that. =P I've been to Japan, but I was little at the time so I don't really remember it. It was a case of my father taking business trips there with my mom and her dragging me along since I was little. I'd love to go back and see it now that I'd actually remember it clearly. Though at the same time there's a lot to see in the US that I really want to get around to visiting as well. After all, like Sabrina said, we have five National Parks here in Utah and since I don't have a car... I haven't seen a single one. That doesn't include the fact that Yellowstone is only six hours from here and I haven't been there either.

Why not? If you have more money than what you know what to do with, then I don't really see an issue with buying an expensive necklace. Though if I had that kind of money to burn, I'd use it for something other than jewelry. Also, I tend to avoid a few of the places like Wal-Mart when it comes to clothing. Not because I don't like the place but because often what they carry doesn't fit very well. The draw back to being short and small is that some brands of clothing require altering to fit properly. Otherwise it's all baggy in the wrong places. Net result, I'll spend more at a place like Victoria's Secret because the clothing will simply fit and I don't have to attempt to waste my time altering it. I say waste my time since I don't have a sewing machine and I was never good and hand alterations. So it's worth it to shell out a little extra to get stuff that actually fits right.

There's another word for it, but it eludes me at the moment, well other than I know love isn't it.
I think you might have been thinking of this word here: Codependence As the others have already said MaskedRider... that's a destructive cycle you're in, not a loving relationship. And since the others already covered it, I'll leave it at that.

Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
Horendithas replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure I'd rather not know when and how I'm going to die. About the only exception would be in the case of a terminal disease. Beijing 2008 Olympics (Should China Play Host?)
Horendithas replied to vegeta rocker's topic in General Discussion
I'm surprised people are even bothering to make a fuss when no country is free of doing things that are inhumane. Based on that premise it's like saying we should just do away with Olympics since just about everyone is guilty of that kind of nonsense. Anyway, personally I've just been enjoying watching the events. The only thing I miss is being able to actually go in person. I'm not a big fan of the Olympics but I can't deny how much fun it was to see it up close when the winter Olympics were here in Utah a while ago. Anyway, so far my favorite part has been watching the US in the swimming events. Some of that has been down right exciting to see. -
