My most recent odd dream as I would put it, was one where for some reason SLC was being hit by nuclear bombs. It was odd in that anyone out side the initial blast was fine but the buildings and surroundings would be warped and distorted. The areas of the town that were close enough to the main blast turned shades of gray like some horror flick as well. It wasn't even scary either. I found myself thinking the whole thing was weird but that was about it. I even watched as one house literally changed from a blast and all I was thinking was that it looked kind of cool.
2. Actually Keome we have an entire section for requesting this kind of thing as you can see here. Art by Request I'll move this over to the appropriate area since your request will have a better chance of being answered there. I changed your title as well since we don't have a general request thread. That way people will know just what kind of avatar you are looking for. Also, providing pictures for people to work with makes it easier for artists to fill your request. If you have any questions, check out the stickies in this area or pm Boo our Art Studio moderator. 3. It doesn't really count if they started out as a woman. lol The media is just using the fact that they had a partial sex change to hype the story more than it's really worth. Now if they had started out as a man first, that would be interesting. My opinion would still be the same though. If the kid is healthy and properly cared for, I see no issue with it or any reason to feel like it's an abomination.
4. The one that catches my eye is the banner by Endrance. I like the color scheme, the border touch and shape. Overall it's the one that catches my attention the most. So that is who I give my vote to, Endrance.
5. First of all interesting avatar there Gavin. :blulaugh: And since I think Aceburner will get a kick out of this along with Zelda fans I present this comic. Objection!
6.
It doesn't matter. And since it doesn't matter (but some people are easily swayed into believe it should), it is a subtle way to discredit your opinion.
You're right, it doesn't and was a poor choice of wording on my part. I was trying to say that she couldn't possibly know that legals drugs are worse with any degree of certainty. That's something that is true for all of us here. Even the debate about illegal drugs to a certain extent is based on information given to us by someone else.
7. For shame Allamorph *thwack!* Condemning a harmless kids show to burn in hell? You're more than sad my friend. =P All joking aside, I don't really care for it but I don't really hate it either.
8.
Have you ever done legal highs? They **** you up more than the illegal ones. You go all shakey, paranoid and get really really violent.
So says the teenager who, by the way, is not a doctor. Don't let the argument of legal drugs are worse sway you either. The whole point is that unless it's something prescribed to you by a doctor, you shouldn't be doing it period. That and what DeLarge said about people on that drug being boring is true. I've yet to see anyone use it and magically become smarter or better at music or anything else somehow.
9.
I'm not familiar with this show, but most of Reality TV is based on the notion of Better Living Through the Humiliation of Others.
It is also the reason why I rarely bother to watch reality shows. So no, I have not seen this show. Usually the moment I realize something is a reality show is the moment I switch the channel and watch something that actually is entertaining instead of just painfully stupid.
10. The best time to take care of piggies was first thing in the morning. Unnatural creatures or not they still held to the standard police statistics that clearly dictated that if shit was going to happen, it would do so in the middle of the night. People didn?t storm a police station at ten past six in the morning. But Marcus and Nicholas rarely did anything that was expected and this time was no exception. Marcus and Nicholas checked out of the hotel at exactly fifteen till six. They pulled up and parked in a lot one block from the police station in question at exactly six am, all of it as smoothly as if they had done it a thousand times. Both were fully armed, their clothing barely concealing the fact, other than Nicholas?s sword that he was so fond of taking everywhere. ?Do you have to take that damn thing all over the place? It?s impossible to hide for something like this.? Marcus complained as they hurried up the steps leading into the police station. ?I do not bring peace, but a sword.? Nicholas answered solemnly. Marcus snorted, ?That another one of your verses?? Nicholas did not answer and Marcus did not ask again as they opened the dual doors and stepped in. The front room was designed to make it next to impossible for people to just walk in, but no door lock was meant to withstand being blown to pieces. Marcus ignored the query from the clerk behind the bullet proof glass and drew his Desert Eagle. He fired one shot to blow the handle apart and then used his right foot to deliver a sharp kick to knock the door in. In the next moment as he moved into the now open hallway he re-holstered the Tiger in favor of pulling the Jericho. The door to where the clerk was backing up in panic as they pulled their own weapon was wide open. Marcus took her down with a shot right between the eyes. The piggie gave off a sickening squeal as blood splattered against the wall seconds before the body hit and slumped to the floor. He absent mindedly took note of the familiar click, click and then boom of Nicholas?s gun as first the surveillance camera and then the dispatcher radio shattered into tiny pieces. A brief moment to switch the Jericho to his left hand while he pulled the Desert Eagle to blow the lock of the next door and then it was back in its holster and the two moved into the following room. All eyes were looking in their direction and as if in slow motion, weapons were being pulled. Marcus curled his lips in disgust, so many damn piggies; they were everywhere, like coach roaches. Kill one and ten more would come out of the shadows. It was sickening. Marcus could almost imagine that he could smell the stench since they were all over the place. He lost himself to taking out the targets, one, and then two and then three. The smell of blood and the squeal of pigs filled the air as some frantically tried to return fire and others dove for the relative safety of their desks. Chaos was rampant and Marcus found a silly ditty running through his mind as clearly as if someone was singing it. -This little pig went to market- Nicholas took aim and the last camera shattered into little pieces, the shot echoing throughout the room. -This little pig stayed at home- A piggie?s head cautiously poked up just above one of the chest high dividers separating some of the desks. Nicholas had already shifted the Blackhawk to his left hand. He stepped forward pulling the sword free in an arch that took the piggie?s head off before it could do more than blink. -This little pig had roast beef- One of the few humans in the room drew a bead on Marcus and he put a bullet through their right shoulder, sending them flying over the desk behind them. Marcus smiled grimly as Nicholas put his Blackhawk away after firing five rounds, relying on his sword and knuckles to dispatch the pigs that got in his way. - This little pig had none- The room fell silent. The corpses of the piggies littered the room. Marcus was down to two shots with his Jericho. He put it away and pulled the Desert Eagle again as they moved down the hallway to where the Police commissioner, the Sheriff and a couple other high ranking piggies would be meeting. -This little pig cried "Wee, wee, wee!"- He blew a hole through the Sheriff's chest who upon seeing the two coming down the hall attempted to flee back into the room. Shots rang out, most of them going wide in the ensuing panic. Marcus grimaced when one grazed his left arm. He staggered slightly and continued. Boom, boom? boom. Two shots left. The two entered the meeting room. -All the way home- The would be piggie police commissioner was back against the far wall, its grotesque features twisted in what Marcus assumed was an expression of fear. Nicholas drew his weapon with deliberate slowness and took aim. -Click- A frightened squeal filled the air. -Click- The creature cowered, its body shaking. -Boom- Blood splattered all over the wall as the creature slumped to the floor. Marcus glanced at the clock high up on the wall. It was now twenty past six. It was time to get going before too many reinforcements arrived. They didn't have time to stick around for any stray piggies that they might have missed. ?We forgot to get breakfast,? Nicholas commented dryly as the pair weaved their way back through the station, calmly stepping over the bodies. ?We?ll get some on the way out of town.? Marcus said shortly. ?You know what I could go for right about now?? Nicholas asked. ?We are not getting any bacon.? Nicholas snorted slightly. ?I want a donut, not another pig.? Marcus laughed.
11. Ignoring the replies so far since I'm too lazy to quote and would rather just give my own opinion... the point of good self esteem isn't that it makes you smarter somehow, it's more that instead of crawling up in a corner and quitting when you fail, you get back in there and work harder to do what you can. So on a purely technical level, being happy won't make you smarter. But on a mental level, it means you won't give up and not scoring higher won't really matter. Or rather it won't stop you from finishing school, getting a job, etc.
12. Having met Aaryanna... I don't see it at all. Unless you were going after her dog that is, then she might hurt someone in self defense. To be honest, this one didn't sit well at all. Probably because it wasn't funny and didn't really fit anyone, other than perhaps Beth refusing to hurt anyone. Out of all the little deaths you've written I like this one the least.
13. Anyway, other than to just keep up with whatever we are currently doing, I assume we have no direct motives as of now. Once we do I'll see about getting my character to the same area as the others.
14.
3. Don't even think about getting government aid. They'd be all too willing to hand it out, and you would piss off everyry hard-working middle class person out there by getting handouts at their expense.
My advice for you... Ignore this one. Government aid is there for a reason and letting your kid suffer just because someone might find it annoying is pretty stupid. There are a lot of good programs out there that are meant to benefit the kid and not you. So don't let that mentality scare you away from getting aid if you really need it.
15. It's not obvious in my post, but my character is not located where the rest of you all are having fun. That will come later, so if you all could not include me in your posts unless I tell you to, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
16. Marcus was still figuring out the fine details of how the iPhone he had taken from the last freak he had dealt with worked. It was certainly easier to port around than a damn laptop was, though he still had that in the car should he really need it. But being able to access the net from anyplace where there was a signal was a hell of a lot more convenient. Anything that made it easier to access the Hunter-Net, or information to better facilitate dealing with whatever was out there was a definite plus. He ignored the messages that were waiting for him. Unless they were related to hunting down and dealing with more of those things, he didn?t give a damn about socializing with any of the other hunters. New or not, there were very few he?d even bother to give the time of day. Getting drunk, sex - vices as they called them - were for the weak. Anything other than sleep was a total waste of time in his opinion. Especially if it could interfere with his ability to deal with whatever was crawling in the neighborhood. Very few understood his mindset, even other hunters such as himself. Once he had realized that he saw the world differently after the accident, he had figured out how to start dealing with what was out there on his own. Marcus hadn?t discovered the Hunter-Net until a good six months later. He had looked into it out of curiosity and then finally registered when it became obvious that it would be a good way to pick up information on the creatures out there, as well as where to go for special ammo needs among other things. Marcus finished off the coffee he had been drinking while he browsed the Net and set the cup on the table he was sitting at. The tiny outside café was one of the best he?d run into in a while. It was a pity that he never stayed in one place long enough to truly learn the best places to shop and eat at. He finished checking but there was nothing new on the Net that concerned him, and his morning work of tracking down a few more details before heading out for the next target was done. He logged out. He tossed enough change on the table to pay for the coffee and the tip next to the cup as he stood up and left. A few blocks over was the non-descript car that he used to get around. Faded blue paint and rust spots graced the aging Chevy. The model name eluded him at the moment and part of him didn?t really care. It worked and that was what mattered. Though fixing most basic problems was something he could do with ease. A car?s engine was simple in comparison to the semi?s he use to drive. He crawled into the car and turned the key. The engine sputtered to life as he ran the checklist through his mind. The replacement ammo he needed was already in the trunk as well as a few other things he?d managed to acquire. Marcus smiled grimly. All that was left was to stop by the hotel first, the arrangements for that should be ready by now. If not? With another grin he cranked the volume on the radio when a song he liked started playing. If he had a vice, music was it. It was one of the few things he still enjoyed, especially the loud and busy rhythm of hard rock that bordered on metal. Marcus was oblivious to the looks from others over the loud music as he pulled into the parking lot of the seedy hotel he would be staying at. He waited for a moment with his eyes closed for the song to finish before killing the engine and exiting the car. The hotel was busy with people checking out for the day and it took a little time for the solitary clerk to finally get to assisting Marcus. ?What can I do for you sir?? ?There should be a key for a room waiting for me.? ?Right sir,? The clerk moved to look it up in the system. ?The name?? ?Claget.? Marcus waited patiently for him to look it up and then nod when he found it. ?ID please.? He pulled out his license and handed it over, waiting while the man checked it briefly and then slipped it back into his wallet once he handed it back. ?You?re in room 132,? He handed over one of the magnetic card keys that places used these days. ?If you need anything just let us know. Enjoy your stay sir.? Marcus took the card key without a word and made for the hallway leading back to where the rooms were located. It took him very little time to find the room in question and with a quick swipe of the card the door unlocked and he let himself in.
17. Questing Souls If there was one thing Gavrie never got tired of, it was surprising those he was training. The wide-eyed look of dawning comprehension was always fun to watch. He enjoyed seeing that process, even if it was but a glimmer of the true potential one had for fighting. It was a shame that for whatever reason the Council had decided they no longer needed those skills. It never stopped him from making sure those few who could learn more in the short time he had with them did. What he was going to do next was something he hadn’t done in quite a while and that was teach the pair about battle tactics. If Adrian had understood that concept at all, it was likely that he would not have done as he did, blindly charge right into the Count’s trap. He would have known to gather more information first, but that was hardly his fault and even that was no guarantee that things would go well. It wasn’t that his actions were so wrong but rather the reasoning behind it was flawed. He waited patiently until Karl and Adrian were completely caught up in training before turning to Astera with a wry smile. “Well now Astera, I think it’s about time that we started your training.” His grin broadened when she turned to look at him, an expression of bewilderment on her tiny face. “Me?” Her voice rose a bit, “But I can’t fight like…” “Who said anything about fighting?” Gavrie let that sink in a bit. “Eventually you will be learning how to better use your defensive magic to work in sync with Adrian, but there is no reason why you can’t learn about battle tactics and strategy until we're ready to start that training.” “Besides, it will serve the dual purpose of…” Gavrie paused to smirk a bit at the sound of Adrian cursing as he was once again sent head over heels by Karl to slam into one of the posts surrounding the training area. “Teaching him to not let what you are doing or thinking distract him from fighting.” “I guess so.” Astera said hesitantly after cringing when Adrian cursed colorfully again as he scrambled back to his feet. “I know so.” Gavrie assured her. “Not only will it help him learn to have more than one thought in his head, but he’ll also learn what I'm teaching you at the same time on account of your bond.” “Well true, it’s just that…” Astera hesitated and Gavrie just laughed at her expression. “I already know how much it annoys him Astera,” He said sternly when she gave him an indignant look. “This is to benefit both of you. Now, let’s get started.” ------------------------- So they had sent him out to help deal with the vampires in the area. Gavrie snorted in disgust. The damn war had been going on far too long on account of their carelessness in not realizing the blight that had been springing up right under their very own noses. The war, if measured by time as the Shinigami understood it, was short. If one looked at it through human eyes or that of many of the creatures that inhabited the Earth then it was more than a life time. It had been raging for around thirty five years if he remembered how humans kept track of time correctly. They needed to put an end to it and soon. Many of the other species that inhabited the Earth were in danger of extinction. Not just from the war but from the vampires who sought to subjugate and control the other races for their own ends. In a way it was their fault for not correcting the imbalance in the first place. “Why do you care fool?” He said to himself as he finally made his way back to where the others were. Gavrie had not meant to be gone so long, but long walks were often the only thing that really helped to clear his mind. He would be leaving soon since he had been reassigned, but not before they moved to take care of a wave of advancing vampires in the area. He wasn’t interested in doing those kinds of assignments anymore, but he wouldn’t refuse the order either. He supposed he should at least be glad he’d be around for the next skirmish to look out for as many of his kind as he could. So many of them were far from ready though giving them that time was not a luxury they could truly afford. “There you are!” Kevin grabbed him by the shoulder the moment he was back at their makeshift camp. “The vampires are on the move, everyone has already left to go and deal with them.” “I see.” Gavrie pulled his mind back to where it should be only to realize that Kevin was right; those who would be fighting were indeed on their way out. If he hadn’t been so wrapped up in his own thoughts, he would have sensed it sooner. He swore as the two of them moved swiftly to catch up with the others. “You know,” Kevin said casually. “He was looking for you since you’ve been running the show ever since Jake was killed.” “Too bad.” Gavrie said flatly and then with a mental twist he called his scythe to land snugly in his right hand. The sounds of fighting could be heard echoing through the trees and moments later the pair flew out from among the trees. The small army of Reapers were sprawled out among the clearing, facing a force of what had to be at least a thousand vampires. The sight before them was one of controlled chaos as the forces following the newcomer fought to hold back the advancing group of vampires. Foremost in the fray was none other than the man in blue himself as a flash of blue here and there caught Gavrie's attention. It looked like he was fighting alongside a werecat as well. Interesting. He paused at the spectacle as he watched him in motion. The man was impossibly quick and utterly lethal, nothing like the others he had worked with. That had been Jake’s problem, sure the guy had known strategy and tactics, but his actual fighting skills had been pathetic. Gavrie and the others had not been quick enough to save him when he had been overrun by a group of vampires. He shook his head and with a sigh began to move to join the uneven battle. Gavrie had known that they were outnumbered but seeing it in person put things in a whole new light. The sounds of dying and fighting even from where he was located were deafening and he took a deep breath to steady himself. Movement from the right brought him to a halt as he turned to look and with a start he realized what he was seeing. A small party of vampires were moving in swiftly for a hit and run tactic. If there are more of them… “Damn!” He grabbed Kevin who had stopped to see what he was doing and pulled him close. “Go and warn them, there are probably more hit and run groups like this one.” It was a common tactic and the same one that had gotten Jake. The vampires would take advantage of their greater numbers to do quick hit and runs, sailing in to literally focus on one or two Shinigami and then flee immediately. “What are you going to…?” Kevin pulled free. “No Gavrie, there are twenty of them, that’s too many for you to fight alone.” Gavrie ran his staff through his fingers in a half twirl, bringing his dual spiritual blades into play at the end of the swing. “I’m not so easily dealt with, now go!” He shoved Kevin in the direction of the main party and then called forth one of his other tricks. It was not without risk but it would be more than enough keep him intact for a pass or two before he would retreat to the main group as well. With a feral grin he made straight for the vampires, not bothering to hide his approach. To their credit they only hesitated briefly at the sight of the lone Reaper charging them before changing their direction to meet him head on. Perfect. He was less than ten feet from the foremost vampires when with a tiny gesture with his right hand he released the technique. The closest vampires were shoved aside by an unseen force and then before the others could realize what he had done, he ran between them. Their tiny hesitation upon seeing their comrades shoved aside gave him the opening he needed to whirl the staff above his head in a lethal arch as he lowered it a tad to neatly take off the heads of the closest two before whirling in place to smartly take off the heads of another two. Gavrie didn’t wait for them to come to him as he turned around again upon clearing the group who was attempting to move to counter him. With a smirk he raised his left hand and sent a wave of purifying fire racing towards them, they scattered to avoid the flames as Gavrie used the moment to prepare for his next move. He switched hands with the scythe effortlessly in order to gesture again with his right hand, knocking the vampires rushing him over. With a grimace he then turned to focus on a few coming at him from the left. Just a few more and then… A glancing blow slammed into him, barely deflected by the technique he was using and the force of it sent him reeling backwards, but not before he ran his scythe through one of the vampires in front of him. With a jerk he yanked it free and turned swiftly, the point of the blade running along the ground until he brought it up swiftly in an arch that took off the head of the vampire who was behind him. Another glancing blow on the right this time sent him sprawling and he rolled with it coming up just in time to shove the other end of his scythe through the chest of the vampire moving to impale him. Seven down… he thought even as he rushed the closest two, grinning widely at their surprised look when he unveiled yet another trick to take both of them out at the same time. With another laugh he back flipped out of range and whirled to head for the main group at top speed. He could feel the remaining eleven hot on his trail, their rage over how he had made it look easy almost palatable. It was going to be a long battle. ------------------------- “There you are! I’ve been looking all over for you!” Gavrie looked up from where he was lying on the ground staring at the sky. With a groan he got up. “Can’t you see I was resting?” “You can save that for later.” Kevin scowled at him. “For a while there I thought they had gotten you.” “I told you it would take more than a small group like that to do me in.” Gavrie grinned. Kevin’s right eyebrow shot up, “And I suppose you just let them get you a bit so they’d feel better about dying.” He looked pointedly at the slash marks that were running across Gavrie’s chest and arms. “Naturally.” Gavrie said dryly. Kevin shook his head, “Well never mind that, at least you made it out in one piece. Though you still need to go and give that guy a report before you head out for your next assignment.” “Actually,” Gavrie grasped Kevin’s left shoulder. “I’d prefer it if you took care of that. I’m in no mood to talk to anyone and you can tell him everything he needs to know.” “Gavrie…” “Take care of yourself Kevin, I expect you to tell me all about your exploits when this damn war is over with.” He let go and turned and walked off into the trees without bothering to look back.
18. Name: Marcus Claget Hunter-Net Name: Havoc404 Age: 32 Eyes: Hazel Hair: Brown with reddish streaks. Height: 6’1” Weight: 190 Creed: Avenger Weapons: Research Desert Eagle Tiger - .577 Magnum; 8 round magazine Jericho 941 “Baby Eagle” - .40 S&W; 12 round magazine Marcus primarily uses the Jericho and tends to only pull out the heavier weapon at need. The desert eagle is concealed under his over jacket on his left side while the Jericho is in a holster under his left arm. Working as a truck driver lead to Marcus picking up the basics of street fighting and though not truly proficient he’s fairly decent with his fists and any object he can find to use as a makeshift weapon. He prefers the guns whenever possible since some things just don’t like to die like they should. Edges: Burn: This is the first edge that Marcus used shortly after being imbued. There is no particular word that he uses but rather an intense desire to protect himself will trigger it. At first it was only under great stress but now he can focus on the image of flames in order to trigger the change of his blood to magma and thus generate intense heat. Smite: Marcus focuses his thoughts on what he wants to blow up and releases it with either a tiny nod or snap of his right fingers. Depends on whether or not he’s holding a weapon or not as to which method he uses. Smolder: Marcus thinks about the times he has driven through fog so dense one couldn’t see the road in order to send thick black smoke out in all directions from his own body. Balance: When Marcus is overwhelmed with a smirk he’ll concentrate on the phrase: “I think not” in order to level out the playing field and disable the abilities of his enemies. Rejuvenate: This edge Marcus does not have conscious control over. He has managed to use it a few times but at the moment the fine control of it eludes him and he has learned to not rely on it. Expose: Marcus often wishes that he could just snap his fingers and let people see the freaks for what they are but he has yet to realize the potential of this edge. Cleanse: Marcus is not aware of this edge yet. He’s never been poisoned so there has been no need for it to become active. Appearance: Click me! Marcus tends to wear jeans and a dark tee shirt with a lightweight long jacket. He does have light weight body armor, similar to what police use, but prefers to avoid wearing it unless needed. He doesn’t like to be weighed down and instead relies more on agility and speed to help give him an advantage. Biography: Before being imbued, Marcus was a truck driver, working along the west coast of the US. He had no close relatives, and though open and friendly he kept to himself. He was born and raised in Dallas Tx, but has long since lost the southern drawl that is associated with those from the south. When excited or hard pressed he has been known to slip back into that form of speech. Marcus became a driver for the simple reason that he hated staying put and had no interest in joining the military just to travel around. When he wasn’t working he was always off somewhere seeing new places and exploring, just as he was always picking up various books to take along for reading while working. Imbuing: It hasn’t quite been a year since the accident as Marcus has come to think of his imbuing. He had been doing like he always had for the past five years, taking a load of goods from Salt Lake City, Utah down to Reno, Nevada. It was one of many runs he had made before along the west coast of the US. It had been a long week so he had stopped for the night at one of the last rest areas before the city proper to park his rig and get some rest. He thought little of the stop as he spent a bit of time gathering news from other drivers and snagging a bit to eat out of the tiny little fridge in his cab before finally calling it a night to get some rest. Fatigue was a constant on the road, since a tired driver was a dead driver he had become accustomed to getting sleep whenever needed. There was no regular sleeping schedule for him with his job. It was early evening and darkness was starting to descend. Marcus was woken several hours later by something shaking the truck and the sound of someone yelling fire. Curious as to what the fuss was over he got up and looked out to see that someone’s trailer was on fire. At that moment a tire exploded, rocking his rig again even though it was a parked a good hundred feet away and he realized that the shaking he had felt before was probably when one of the other tires had blown. He was about to crawl back into his bunk and continue sleeping when something odd caught his attention, a figure far too close to the flames of the burning trailer that didn’t look right. He slipped his jeans and shoes on and got out of the truck to go and take a closer look. Oddly, none of the other drivers watching the spectacle of the trailer burning down seemed to notice the human shaped creature or rather if they did, they thought nothing of it. “Just what the hell is that thing?” He had half said to himself as he moved closer, the heat of the flames washing over him in what had seemed like an oddly comforting manner at the time. “Hey idiot, don’t get so close.” It had been another driver, the older man had given Marcus a look that plainly said he was being a fool. “What about them?” He had nodded towards the thing that by now had him wondering just what the hell was going on. It had to be some odd dream; stuff like that just didn’t exist. He had still been feeling slightly out of it and he shook his head in an attempt to wake himself up more. Damn, either I’m having one hell of a dream or I need a stiff drink. Or so he had thought at the time. “What of it? If that damn fool wants to get killed trying to save his rig that’s his problem.” “Idiot, that’s not a person, it’s a freaking thing!” Marcus exclaimed without giving it a thought, even today he still wondered how people just couldn't see the creatures for what they truly were. Looking back now he almost wished he had kept his mouth shut. Like a moth to a flame, overhearing those words had drawn that monstrosity to him in a flash. Moving far faster than any human it had rushed him and Marcus had found himself suddenly caught by the neck and driven back into the side of the tanker behind him. He barely had time to register the foul breath, rotting flesh and razor sharp teeth and nails that were within seconds of tearing his throat apart. Something inside him had broken loose and with a flash his blood had turned to magma, scorching the creature holding him. It had also, unfortunately, set the tanker behind him off, destroying most of the trucks parked there along with anyone in range. Seven people died that night, caught in the ball of flames caused by the massive explosion. Eight if you included the monster that had attacked him. Marcus, to this day, assumes that whatever happens to his body to generate so much heat had incinerated any debris tossed his way from the explosion that night. He has since then found his way into the network of hunters and is traveling around the country exterminating the nightmares that roam the earth.

He may not have been privy to all that was going on but the fact that they had found no one there, not even a basic crew had been slightly unnerving. Even if they had been undergoing a staff rotation there should have been some personnel there. But from what he had overheard from those working directly for Major Sijan during the trip back to the Von Braun, they had found no one other than the passengers that they had brought over with them. Now, as evening approached or rather what could be considered evening on board the Von Braun, he was sitting at the bar in the Casino enjoying a drink. He had done little more than take a sip or two since he was not the type to have more than he should. Jeff was debating on whether or not to move to one of the tables up against the wall and thus into a position to watch the patrons when a semi familiar face took a seat next to him. ?So the watchdog is off his leash for a change,? it was the Major. ?I was beginning to think that you didn?t dare breathe without little miss straight-laced giving you permission.? Jeff recognized a bit of a taunt when he heard one though he chose to ignore it. Samantha was like that. Instead he just shrugged. ?That?s the nature of security work.? ?And that?s why you?ll never see me babysitting higher ups that haven?t learned how to not get underfoot.? Sijan quipped even as she waved her fingers for the bartender. Either Jeff missed it or the man already knew what she wanted as he brought something over and set it on the counter in front of her. Jeff waited patiently while she took a long drink and then smirked. ?Hell, I wouldn?t do your job no matter how good the pay was.? Jeff grinned slightly, taking another sip of his drink, ?Well some of them are nothing more than glorified babysitting positions, but it is a job.? ?True.? Sijan agreed. ?So how?d you manage to slip the leash long enough to get a drink?? ?Miss Wells is in some sort of meeting with the Captain.? Jeff explained. ?She?s been good about seeing that I have time off anyway.? ?So the watchdog is not invited.? Jeff shrugged. ?It?s Jeff, and no I was not. But then that too is the nature of security work. Just as she has clearance that I imagine no one on board the ship does.? ?Oh? And why do you say that Jeff?? Sijan?s look was unreadable, though Jeff got the impression that she was more than just a little curious. "It's not unusual for someone like her to have access to something she doesn't need to." ?Considering what she did at the outpost it?s kind of obvious, but you're right it?s not important or all that unusual.? That wasn't why he was thinking about it. ?In other words you?re not going to voice the thought that she might have clearance to that sealed deck on the ship.? The Major finished her drink and motioned for another one, she gave him an amused half grin. ?Don?t look so guarded Jeff, if you don?t want to discuss it that?s fine by me.? ?That?s not it,? Jeff protested. ?I do need to get going though.? ?Yeah, yeah.? Major Sijan turned back to take the new drink being placed in front of her on the counter. She waved her right hand dismissively in Jeff's direction without bothering to turn and look at him. ?You do that watchdog; you wouldn?t want to make your keeper wait.? Jeff put his nearly finished drink back on the counter and got up to leave. Sure he was curious like everyone else as to what was actually on the restricted deck, but he sure as hell wasn?t going to actually ask Miss Wells about it directly. By now her meeting was probably done and he always made a point of never being late.

Getting the damn doctors to cut back on the pain meds does wonders for one's ability to actually think. That being said, I have posted and I'm ready to get this show back on the road as they put it. I do have finals, but I am only taking two classes so I'm not too worried about it. Plus after that I have twenty four days of no school to do whatever I want.
22. So they were going to let the fool out after all, Sandra was in favor of sending Vallon Drace back to sector one but once again she had been overruled. Council member or not, Fleet Admiral Stevens was as well and in the military his commission was much higher than hers. Normally the Commodore of a flagship had a say in who commanded the ship under them but Stevens seemed to enjoy flaunting his ability to overrule her choices. Then there was the matter of dealing with the two slaves Celestia and Jason. Though direct proof couldn?t be found, her gut feeling was that Drace had been correct in thinking she was connected somehow. Though his heavy handed handling of the matter was completely out of line, still something needed to be done just not what the Commander was thinking. She was lazily watching the effect of stars appearing to move through the view in her quarters when the console at her desk gave off a chime. Sandra moved to answer it and then frowned upon realizing that it was Stevens. ?What is it Stevens?? ?I need you to clarify why you wish to send both Celestia and Jason back to sector one. I hardly think that Commander Drace is going to step out of line like that again.? ?Oh is that what you think?? Sandra growled. ?Idiot, if you had read the entire report, including the one on the rewriting of how the systems of a flagship route power you would have realized why I intend to send both of them back.? Sandra glared at him through the holographic viewer and waited for Stevens to do more than just glance at the latest reports. A few minutes later his right eyebrow rose as if even he couldn?t believe what he was reading. ?Are you sure this is accurate?? ?Very, it?s been tested several times to make sure the data is accurate. So you see whether or not they were responsible for the mishap, risking their lives to a fool like Drace is unacceptable. That is why I?ve recommended that they be put directly back under the care of the Commander for the Elite Forces, James.? Stevens nodded. ?If this is accurate, I agree. Very well then, when we make our stop before moving in to retake sector four I?ll approve having them both sent back.? ?Was there anything else?? ?No, Stevens out.?
100
He wasn?t going to show his confusion, but there was no denying that he felt it. Jared had been positive that he was in sector nine but now he wasn?t so sure anymore. When they had first moved him he thought perhaps that he was merely being transported to some facility for them to begin his interrogation. But as the days went by and nothing happened he began to question that assessment. He ran through his mind all the alternatives and possible situations that he could think of. Had he in fact been sent somewhere else instead? Perhaps it was a different sector instead of nine. That might account for the difference in time. Though that explanation fell short as well since all of them time wise would have been the same or close enough that the difference would have been no more than a day or two. A week went by and still nothing, it was obvious that he was being transported somewhere, or was he? His reputation for withstanding punishment and understanding interrogations was well known. Were they toying with him by making him think he was still in transit? He had used similar tactics but only on those few cases that had been the most difficult. Those had been accompanied by careful use of various drugs though and unless he was mistaken, it didn?t feel like he was being drugged. However, if he was, would he even notice it if it was gradually introduced? Probably not but he didn?t feel any different. As the days approached two weeks he couldn?t help but feel anticipation. If they had just been moving him to another sector depending on the type of ship, they would be arriving any time now. If his deductions were correct that is. With an inward sigh he leaned back against the wall the bed he was sitting on was up against. It was a pity he hadn't been stuck with that one woman who would talk to him again. That had at least been entertaining in its own way, even if he still didn't know who she was.
23. Because Des gave me this image and I have no clue what it's from, so therefore it is perfect to trump anything on account of the caption on it!
24.
As for beginning with seven Edges, Indi, the reason I selected so many for us all to begin with is simply because I wish to expand the RPG to encompass a tremendous scope. If you wish your character to have three actives and four possibles, that's your choice. Your character -could- be recently Imbued, for instance.
Lots of powerful skills does not equal tremendous scope. Difference of opinion really but still, if I need powers to have scope or depth for a story or character, that takes the fun out of it since I'd feel like I'm falling back on a cheap trick instead of using brains and resourcefulness.
But it -is- my full intention for characters to begin unlocking new Edges later on in the RPG. That being said, have fun, I look forward to seeing your sign-up.
Another question, but again, I'd rather not go overboard on having powers but rather on skillful application of a select few. If I want god mode, that's what video games are for and to continually gain edges just doesn't appeal to me at all. I know I'm nitpicking a bit, but that's the one aspect of this rpg that does not sit well with me. I'm looking to start with a newly imbued character who has all of three edges, will possibly unlock four more and then slowly become more proficient with those instead of merely gaining more power as it were. If you're fine with that I'll consider a sign up, otherwise, there's no reason for me to waste your time. EDIT: Thank you for the clarification via pm Talon.
25. I have some questions but first, I removed the rating Talon. That’s no longer used for rpgs though you are welcome to put it as a disclaimer at the beginning of your post. Anyway… I’d like a clarification on the edges if you don’t mind. First of all do they have to have some word to activate or can that be a combination depending on the actual edge? Like some only requiring a thought or the person to concentrate to activate it instead of actually speaking. Also, starting with seven seems like total overkill to me so what are your thoughts on a character having only three that they use and four “potentials” that have yet to be unlocked? The character might not even know they have that ability yet until later on. If you could answer that I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
