1. I had time to spare today to do as I wished so I have already finished Temple of the Winds. I kept putting it down and yet a short while I'd pick it back up to read again because I wanted to know what happened. So now that I finished that book I will be reading the next book in The Sword of Truth series by Goodkind. Soul of the Fire.
 2. Hopefully this selection horrifies both Rach and Allamorph, if not... I'm going to be disappointed. But! I am listening to this by Aqua: Barbie Girl Even though it's not really my thing, the lyrics to this song are hilarious to listen to. Heh.
 3.
O_O I suppose that's a good reason to say you're glad you haven't been around long enough to miss it. The less drama the better right?^^
Oh you'll find that like any place OB has it's share of things you miss (which as I said before is people, not parts of the boards) and things you'd rather forget. The best part about that fiasco that Aaryanna linked to, is it got all that nonsense out into the open so people were talking about it instead of sticking to the shadows and making things worse by doing nothing to get their concerns addressed.
Anyway, I've been here three months as of today! o_O Why does it feel like an eternity? Still, it's clear that there is nothing for me to really miss, I haven't been here long enough to get to that point. =P
OB is like that, especially when there are so many people that you end up being friends with since there area lot of fun people here. I look back and think, how can it only just be approaching three years? It certainly feels like I've been here a lot longer.
 4. I usually have some sort of fruit and plain toast or bagels. Or depending on when I actually slept, I'll have lunch type food such as a salad since going to bed really late and waking up around noon tends to leave me wanting something more substantial. For the most part I don't really eat what could be considered breakfast food, at least not very often.

 6. I have finished Blood of the Fold by Terry Goodkind so I am now reading Temple of the Winds. So far this author continues to be an excellent read. The thing I have liked best about each and every book so far is how so much is put into building up to the final 200 pages or so where everything gets wrapped up. It honestly makes closing the book and coming back later to finish it kind of hard. Each time when I've reached that point, I've kept reading until I was done. Heh.

Jefferson objected once Samantha had briefly stopped to see if there was anything they could do for the Chief Engineer before continuing to the control room of the Outpost. ?There seems to be a lot of things that you do not like Jeff.? Samantha teased with a smile. ?Don?t you find it odd that we?ve encountered no one at all?? She seemed to be oblivious to the complete lack of noise other than those who had come over on the shuttle. In Jeff?s opinion they should be heading back to the Von Braun and letting the security check things out instead of doing so themselves. ?Of course I find it odd, that?s why we are heading to the control room to talk with the director of the Outpost.? Jeff grabbed her by the shoulder, causing her to stop and look directly at him. ?I?m serious ma?am, even if the station was in the middle of a staff rotation there should have been someone manning the air lock. With the Communications Beacon out of order it would make sense to make sure someone was at the air lock at all times.? Samantha brushed his hand off, ?I understand your concern, but if something actually has gone wrong, the security will need me to access the stations computer systems. Our esteemed Chief of Security will not have the necessary clearance.? Jeff held back the sigh as she continued along the corridor following the signs indicating which direction to go to reach the Control Center. The construction itself was fascinating as the tunnel went back and forth between being covered by the rock of the asteroid the Outpost was built into; to a view of the darkness of space above them. The next turn took them to a set of double doors that were currently closed. The Chief Security Officer, Christina Sijan, along with a group of security personnel were attempting to access the Control Center. At the sound of their approach she stopped what she was doing and turned to face the pair. ?I thought they were expecting us.? She glanced at Samantha, her eyes narrowing. ?No one is responding and the doors are locked.? ?I see, in that case stand aside please.? Christina gave her another hard look before she complied and stood to the side. It didn?t take Samantha long to enter what had to be some type of code. When she was done the sounds of the locks disengaging could be heard and the doors opened. Samantha moved to head in and stopped when Christina touched her right shoulder lightly. ?They were having similar issues getting into the Communications Tower to fix the Beacon.? Christina pointed out. Samantha nodded, ?I know, the doors seem to be malfunctioning as well though. So they had to return to the Von Braun to retrieve the necessary equipment in order to fix them.? She brushed past her and the rest of the security as well to enter the Control Center. The first thing Jeff noticed was that though the equipment was running, there was no one there at all. No matter what was going on, the Control Center should never be unmanned, not on an Outpost as large as this one. The Chief Security Officer was busy checking out the section that monitored the different aspects of the Outpost while Samantha moved to check where the Director of the project would have worked, accessing their personal logs. There were monitors displaying different areas of the Outpost and Jeff watched as Major Sijan cycled through the different areas that were under surveillance. They did not cover every aspect of the facility, but other than to occasionally bring up views of the passengers from the Von Braun who were wandering around; there was no hint of any of the crew who should have been there. ?Did you find anything?? Jeff looked over Samantha?s shoulder to glance at the logs. ?Everything is in order and there is nothing to indicate where everyone is.? She looked briefly to Jeff and then over to Major Sijan who had stopped what she was doing when Samantha spoke. ?What do you recommend?? Samantha asked her directly. ?If something happened and they needed to leave, then the escape pods would be missing. However, there is no record of any pod being launched.? ?Until we know what has happened, it would be best to send the passengers back once the crew returns from the Von Braun.? Major Sijan looked far from amused. ?It would be counterproductive to send people after the passengers at this point.? Samantha disagreed. ?It would be better to send teams to sweep the Outpost in order to determine if anyone is still here. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how to do your job though.? Samantha stood up, ?Jeff and I will head to check where the escape pods are located. If we learn anything we?ll notify you immediately.? Jeff followed along, keeping his expression as neutral as possible. He thought about questioning how she had asked the Major what she recommended and yet brushed it aside and changed his mind. For someone who excelled at remembering details such passengers names and circumstances, she was either unwilling to accept possible risks or oblivious to them. He found her lack of snobbery refreshing and yet at the same time it made his job harder when she merely brushed aside genuine concerns. He shrugged it off as they followed the corridor and signs towards where the cargo bay was located. It was annoying, but at least it was better that some of his past assignments. The real question now though was just what in the world had happened to the people who were supposed to be stationed here? Samantha seemed unconcerned but all sorts of alarms were going off in Jeff's mind. If they didn't find something and soon, he would have to insist that Samantha head back to the safety of the Von Braun.
 11.
It would have been even better if she hadn't completely over-hyped the episode. That said, I couldn't agree more about
Franz's
death, it was certainly one of, if not the most moving moment of the entire series.
You're just heartless, admit it. :p That death in Gankutsuou - The Count of Monte Cristo actually had me in tears. I wouldn't have told you it was a powerful moment if it wasn't true. Poor
Franz

 12. Walking and hiking. I've also had some basic self defense courses. Seriously though, I get enough running around on my feet that I don't bother to spend even more time working out. It's more than enough that when summer and hiking comes around I have no trouble keeping up for a five mile or longer hike.
 13.
Like a good deal of musical acquisitions posted of in the Amphitheater, that little happening also came at my recommendation. You need to get that fourth book! *thwack!* As you already know I am now on Blood of the Fold since I finished up Stone of Tears the other night. It was every bit as good if not better than the first book, though by better I mean in the sense that he nicely picked up threads from the first book that were too pat and expanded on them. It made for a very entertaining read.
For the record, the Mord-Sith become extraordinarily entertaining in Blood of the Fold[/I'].
I was just noticing that. Seriously though... if you don't find the fourth book, who am I going to discuss it with? If only you were here, I'd make you read my copy! lol
 14.
Skinny arial is king. :p
Good grief... Arial is so not king. =P *breaks it in half* All joking aside I actually like Microsoft Sans Serif and it's my default for my Word program, but while it looks nice and lovely in word, it looks uglier than hell on the boards. Trebuchet MS is great but when you go to small text you lose some of the bolding effects and it too looks ugly. So I end up sticking with Verdana since it looks great no matter what the size. Instead of fighting over it we should get this launched: Click! So we can go after the real offender... 19. Sandra Tessa of the house of Luciana was not amused. It had been hours since the fleet had been dragged out of hyperspace by what was looking like sabotage and not an unfortunate event or malfunction of the system. Every single distortion shield for the crystals that powered the ship had without warning, gone offline. The strains between the crystals own distortions interacting with one another had triggered the emergency systems, pulling the ship out of hyperspace before the ship was torn apart by the disruption. It had not been quick enough to prevent the damage to the crystals themselves. And though the backup systems had activated quickly enough, it was too late. The damage was irreversible. With all the safeguards built into the Creator?s systems, such a thing should not have been possible, not on this scale. Especially after the unfortunate events when a program written by Celestia and Jason had been used by the Resistance to disable the battleship she used to command. The military had scrambled to tighten up the integrity of internal security in the main computer systems of all ships to prevent such a thing from ever happening again. So for every single distortion shield to collapse at the same time was impossible. The backup emergency and security programs should have kicked in, stopping it from happening. For all of them to fail like that was unheard of, except perhaps in battle. However, incidents like that were usually caused by damage and not a system failure. It was unmistakable; they had a traitor on board. It could have been the two slaves and Sandra had her suspicions that the pair was involved, but something was telling her it was far more than that. Their access to the system was too limited for that and carefully monitored, which meant that if involved, they had some form of outside help. For the moment though the fleet was dead in the water, stuck in sector five, or at least the Creator was. The crystals that powered the ship had been fractured and were incapable of sustaining more than simple life support. The rest of the fleet could have left, but leaving the Creator sitting without any form of defense until the necessary crystals could be installed and the backup ones arrived from sector one, was unacceptable. All ships carried a back up supply of the crystals needed to power all systems. But with the failure of the shielding their own backup stash onboard had also been damaged. At the moment the engineers from the Conqueror were installing their own reserve crystals, but that would take days. It wasn?t a simple process to switch out crystals. They required careful alignment and testing to ensure that they were properly calibrated to work with the Creator?s systems. Rushing the procedure could result in one of them cracking under stress during battle. This meant they needed to stay put until the Creator was back online and the investigation as to what had happened could be completed. Sandra kept her face calm as she continued to review the reports being sent her way and issued any orders as needed. She couldn?t help but smile just a tiny bit at one report though, the one from Commander Crystal Matheson, in regards to Commander Drace. Even if Celestia had been responsible, his actions which went directly against the High Council?s order in regards to their handling would not be overlooked. And when it had come to her attention that Drace was demanding to be released she had merely smiled coldly and reminded the security that as Matheson had pointed out, he did not have the authority to override the Council?s orders. He would stay put until she had time to review the incident and decide his fate. She put the pleasant thought of Drace being detained out of mind and went back to getting through all the reports filtering in. In just a little while she would be meeting with Stevens and determining what they were going to do next. Their plans to retake sector four would have to be put on hold, for the moment.
100
They had come for him, just as Jared had known they would. He had not expected it to be via yet another transport door. Did that mean his deduction that he was in sector nine was incorrect? No, that was unlikely, he could be wrong but he doubted it. The woman was not what he was expecting or rather it was better to say that her actions were unexpected. It was a stark contrast to the manner in which others had handled his transport. Jared saw no reason to not comply with the order to move, after all, if they really wanted to move him, they could do so. If anything it was perhaps a chance to get a hint of information about where he was being moved to. But the trip to his new cell as it were, told him nothing. The corridors he had been taken through had been windowless, viewscreenless and utterly barren. Jared was positive they were being monitored, but other than the woman and himself, there had been no one at all. Once she was gone and he had taken seat on the bed in his new confinement, he ran the whole brief incident through his mind yet again, looking for something, anything that would give him a clue as to where he was. He came up empty other than one thing, and that was that the woman?s thoroughness was to be frank, slightly unsettling.
 20. I find it amusing how someone who doesn't like poetry does such a good job writing it. lol Anyway, yes Congratulations are in order Allamorph. I especially loved your Support Raiha Queen of Death entry. Anyway as fun as it was to get this far, I've no regrets bowing out to someone who did such an excellent job with the poems. Also, Prem is right Sabrina, having done an excellent job with this as hostess, you really should do another contest sometime. The Anthology needs more love. =P
 21. After enjoying the ending song to Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo so much, I went and picked up the full album. So I am listening to that and liking it very much. Definitely good stuff. I even like the slow song to the beginning of the show... which is a first for me.
 22.
Ah. Okay, so what's the deal with Allamorph? The name's familiar, but I can't place where I know it from (which is not unusual; I'm very bad with names).
Like Aaryanna said, Beth isn't anywhere near mean enough for someone like Jared and since I'd rather not be the one to clobber my own character [that and I think Allamorph will do a better job] I decided to ask Allamorph if he would like to basically be a guest poster. We don't have anyone directly in charge of Intelligence/Black Ops after all. As for who he is... a brief trip into your own rpg holds the answer to that... 23.
Am I missing something? It didn't seem like much of an event to me. 24.
Holy crap, guys. This is ridiculous. I wanted to make a thread about Marijuana because it's an activity I participate in from time to time that I enjoy and I wanted to share that with OBers. I made it about the legalization of marijuana so I could, you know, involve other members that don't smoke and maybe have a friendly, civilized debate with them. But apparently that won't happen.
Before you get on that high horse let me remind you of your own opening post.
So do you think it should be legal? Why or why not?
Don't ask a question and then later come back and chastise people for answering it honestly. You can't tell people that they are being ridiculous when they're doing exactly what you asked them to.
If it's that big of a deal then let's just make it a thread for Pot and leave it at that.
Say that upfront next time but don't go blaming others or getting annoyed that they don't see things the way you do, that's just silly really.
And the sarcastic remarks weren't necessary. All Rach did was toss your own flippant remark back into your face, the way I see it, you had it coming for being snarky to begin with.
 25. This is one of those animes that I knew about but never got around to watching it. Now that I am ... I'm smacking myself for putting it off for so long. As others have mentioned, the visuals are stunning. It was a little odd at first, but I love how you have a flat texture for the character's clothing that doesn't move. Normally I don't like this technique, but the designs are so elaborate and decorative that it really suits the show. It has a wonderful dramatic flair to how things are done, like in the first episode with the
execution scene. Especially when you see just which criminal is saved.
I knew what was going to happen and yet it was still a captivating moment. The other thing I like is the combination of visuals with beautiful CG. Take the
fireworks scene, it was beautifully done.
Oh and I pretty much instantly loved the ending song to this show, after the quiet opening it just worked so well to wrap the episode up with it. I like it enough that I already picked up a copy of the full version to the ending song.
