*poke* Hopefully it's to your liking. If not I can always get a different shot if you have something in mind. Just let me know.

Oh gods... I can't get it out of my mind. I am so going to kill you Crystia (or should I call you indifference?) for getting me started on that. XD
It's your fault for being nosy and sticking your head in my room to see what I was listening too. *laughs* And Crystia is fine silly. :p Or you could use Indi if you want since I've picked up that nickname since I became a member here. If you like everyone so far, just wait until the next batch of characters. They're hilarious, especially Hiyori. You'll see what I mean soon enough. And speaking of Lucky Star... I've been re-watching this myself. It's just as much fun as I remember from the first time around. Especially how the Lucky Channel evolves and goes utterly
insane near the end

Man... threats of violence in an rpg should stay in the story instead of spilling into the real world. XP
Still remembering the time I smacked you for Allamorph? *laughs* Anyway, I'll just chime in that I've enjoyed the latests posts as well. From the beginning of the fight, the invisible Gadget, the cannon details and even that mushy stuff you did Beth. :p Things are shaping up nicely for the finish.

Well I ended up getting the Nightwish Once album... Definitely well worth the money and I'm now listening to it since youtube can never compare to having a good copy of the songs. And since I'm here I'm currently listening to Nightwish - The Siren A little slower than some of the other songs but still good.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to them by Ghost Love Score, so I was hooked immediately. When I found out that every member was classically trained, and had belonged to a major operatic group at some point in their careers, I was drawn in ever further, because I knew they must know somewhat of what they were writing, and that they weren't contracting out for arrangements and orchestration and copyists and what. And Marco Hietala does a magnificent job everywhere. I personally find it great that he's a fantastic tenor and plays bass; hearing those differences so well shows real talent.
Well I knew of them via their Dark Passion Play album, I just never got around to really looking into them. And since it's rare to find a group where ten out of say thirteen songs on an album is one I like... I'm thinking it was my loss that I waited so long to check them out more. Yet another thing I blame you for Allamorph. :p I just finished listening to Nightwish - Dead Gardens and now I'm on to Nightwish - Romanticide Again, it's got such a nice heavy rhythm to it that I like. I'm so getting addicted to this band. Heh.

Hurrah for legit nomenclature taking over the thread! :D
Oh definitely, the thread needs it. :p And while I'm here, I'm now listening to: Nightwish - Wish I Had an Angel I can see that I really need to get the album this is on. Once. The more I listen to Nighwish, the more I like them. Heh. They have such a deep powerful rhythm to their music that I like and the vocals are great, from the more controlled to the metal singing that is not too harsh. Which I really like.

Funtime Thread of Humor and Mirth (and Junk.)
Horendithas replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
Gods, I'm on spring break and watching silly videos that make me laugh so much seems almost criminal, especially this one. I blame Des for this by the way, since he got me started on them, heh. -
It's good to see things get started. We've only been leading up to this moment for such a long time. And I really liked how you
had the cannon used right up front and Litheway being the leader of the Underdog fleet
I just know that Daedalus is so going... oh SH..! Hehe. Great post Gavin. And while I'm here cause this sort of thing is fun... It seems someone has a birthday today... So Raiha... Happy Birthday!
Unless I'm seeing how the play is running incorrectly, that's what I see. And as Gavrie is thinking, a missed block at that speed is gonna hurt.
No, you're seeing it right. Though I was missing two critical words indicating movement on Gavrie's part at first. That was a total head desk moment sorting that out so it would work for Allamorph.
Though I'm sure Nathan won't miss or he'll see what Gavrie is doing. :p
Oh I'm sure Allamorph will have fun with that since I can't see Nathan falling for that trick. :p Though this whole thing brings to mind... how the hell did you manage to write such a long action scene for Almagest? I was ready to kill my post and it wasn't even a third of the length or description that you did for Alexander and Grants. Bah!

Time To Fly “Tell you what, Mister Gavrie, I’m in good spirits right now, and I’m sure you haven’t had a decent workout in a long time. How about I give you one?” Gavrie’s eyebrows just climbed a little higher at the invitation. It wasn’t often he’d get the chance to face off with someone like Sir… He cast a glance back at the house but Adrian and Astera were already inside, it was a pity really. That impatience of Adrian's was bound to get him in further trouble, even if it wasn’t completely of his own making. But seeing what one could do… well he could drill that into him later once he was healed up enough for training. Instead he glanced back out at the yard and field behind the house; indicated the training area by jutting his chin in that direction. “Training boundaries, three-quarter plain?” He glanced sideways at Nathan who merely grinned in answer. No explanation was needed as the two made their way to the inside of the four posts evenly placed and fenced off, the interior space approximately forty yards in each direction. The ground nothing more than well hardened earth. Gavrie just offered a lopsided grin as Nathan moved to the center of the training area, facing him; about four yards between them. Nathan was already sporting his own scythe, waiting patiently for Gavrie who moments later called forth his own, a six foot long staff with a foot and a half long blades on each end, the joining point for the blades sporting blunt metal embellishments a few inches long that seemed nothing more than decorative trim running out and along the base of the blade where it met with the staff. With a smile Gavrie grasped it with his right hand, giving a half twirl that brought one blade nearly touching the ground next to his left foot with the other up in the air and to the right, the staff held casually in front of him in both hands. Having been the one challenged to a spar, the first move was his and his eyes narrowed as he considered which approach to take first. At three quarter speed and no lethal techniques being used… that left him open to use whatever he wished. He opted for a frontal assault, launching forward, sweeping the point along the ground and up only to whirl at the last second, bringing the other end down hard towards Nathan’s right shoulder; the move blocked by the blade being caught by the other’s scythe, pulling forward in a motion meant to unbalance. Gavrie couldn’t help but grin as he moved into the pull taking off as he twisted in midair as he sailed over Nathan, their heads nearly touching as he switched his hold on the staff of his scythe in a move that would have let him pin Nathan in place, had he not simply slipped out of it, spinning himself as he made a slash to knock Gavrie off balance before he even landed. With a decisive clash the two scythes met as the attempt was blocked and both merely grinned as they practically flew apart, their movements, even at reduced speed impossibly quick. A mercurial strike as Nathan effortlessly switched to a reverse hold on his blade using the momentum to lash out; once again catching Gavrie’s staff. This time the pull forced the other Shinigami off his feet, stumbling forward a bit. With a sideways flip, his scythe changing hands in mid air, Nathan barely touched the ground and promptly launched himself at Gavrie’s unprotected back. The plain disable blow missing it’s target when Gavrie ducked under, bringing his staff up in a ramming motion towards his mid-section. Back flipping out of range before it could hit, Nathan barely touched the ground before he was in flight again, his feet off the ground more often than they were on it as he moved to strike again. The two of them exchanging roles from strike to counter and back again, clearly enjoying themselves; Nathan practically grinning while Gavrie’s look was one of amusement. As if sensing the change in the atmosphere, the two paused for a long moment, looking at one another as they circled lazily, the same question mirrored in their eyes. “Full?” Gavrie queried in response to the look, certain he saw correctly. A short nod and the two were off once more, the moves becoming more intricate with the increase of speed. Gavrie starting to pull out those moves that to the untrained eye made it look as if he had two scythes instead of just one. Advancing on Nathan with a figure-eight pattern that at the end of each spin was met with a lightening quick thrust to each side; though it was parried with ease. With the tiniest of smirks Gavrie stepped backwards while doing a vertical figure-eight at one side, blocking a strike from Nathan even as the staff was spinning parallel with his body. Back pedaling; his left hand behind his back as his scythe switched hands and he pulled it around and outwards on the other side into a vertical figure-eight spin, the blade moving towards Nathan’s right side with frightening speed at the end of the exchange. Even if the two were pulling their punches, a missed block at this point would be a painful experience. Considering who he was sparring with, Gavrie moved without hesitation, figuring that if he failed to block, Nathan deserved the whack.

Right now I'm listening to Nightwish-Dark chest of wonders Something I blame completely on Allamorph.
My feeling is that each person should do a final post (not yet, but shortly) to wrap up their characters...and that should be it. No contrived/shoehorned end post. Just everyone's last posts and then, perhaps, some credits or something like that. That's just my view though. Others may disagree.
I like this idea, a lot since it gives such a nice feeling of completion. I know I would prefer it if the ending was done like this.
Oh and the 'final day' does not have to literally be a single day. If you want to set your final post a week, or a month, or whatever, after the story ends that's fine. If/when we do a sequel it will probably be taking place after a significant time jump in the story, at least a year. -Shy
Works for me. That makes it easier and a lot more fun since we can choose the moment that fits what we have in mind the best. Also, like Gavin, my spring break just started so I have the next nine days off to do whatever I want. Which will include a lot of being utterly lazy. Heh.

Sandra, to be blunt, was in a bad mood. It did not matter to her that the war was going well, that the re-supply and repairs were well in hand. She did not care that things were falling in place better than they had projected. Initially they had expected things to take far more effort and more time. Even the lost of the Intrepid was not enough to deter how well things were going. If they were quick enough they would be able to head off the New Alliances attempts to secure sectors four and three. And yet, she didn't give a damn. All she could think about, even though she had tried unsuccessfully to put it out of mind, was what had happened to Darren Anderson and now to Jared Scorer as well since he had gone missing. When he had not returned to duty the other day, she had known something was wrong. Jared did not show up late, ever. A quick check had shown what he was doing as well as to where he had transported to. At first she had thought he had fall astray of David Barak, the situation too dangerous when he went to pick him up. But sending a team down to arrest the man had proven that theory wrong when they picked him up without any incident. This only confirmed her suspicion that he had run into something unexpected. Jared had never been stupid enough to go on his own if there was a chance for serious trouble to occur. And to the best of their knowledge, Commodore Nazar was unaware that his aide was being investigated. David Barak had known nothing about Jared as whatever befell him happened before he even got to him. Which meant some other kind of trouble had found him, only she didn't know what. And considering how many enemies Jared had made over the years, Sandra knew that checking out all of the potential issues, was something that with the war, they just didn't have the resources or the time for. If it had been connected to the Commodore, she could have pulled an Elite Specialist for the task, but since it hadn't... she snarled in frustration when the chime indicating there was an incoming message sounded in her quarters. She frowned even more upon realizing that it was Stevens. "What did you want?" She said shortly, not bothering to be polite. Stevens just raised an eyebrow at her apparent anger, "We need to initiate the attacks immediately." "I know that!" Sandra snapped. "I already pulled up the necessary codes, mine and Jared's" After all, personal feelings aside, the war was far more important. They had spent too much time getting everything ready, issuing all the orders through different channels and different officers. All to make sure the New Alliance wouldn't realize what they were up to until it was too late. In just a short time, the last pieces would be in place. "Sandra..." "Don't start Stevens, I never neglect my duties no matter how I may feel about them. No matter how much I wish to do more than is allowed." She glared at him, feeling far more angry than she should. After all, it wasn't Steven's fault that she wasn't allowed to do more to investigate what had happened to Jared. There were teams assigned to it, they just weren't enough in her opinion. "I will be ready at the appointed time, so unless you have other business that we need to discuss...." Stevens just sighed a little. "No, I do not. I will contact you shortly. Stevens out." Sandra sighed herself once the connection was closed. She couldn't stay in her quarters for much longer. Unlike Jared, her temporary Commander, Drace, was someone who required a close eye, his lust for power all to evident in her eyes. Unlike Jared, he wanted the position, not that Jared didn't enjoy his work, but he didn't have an eye towards replacing her like Drace did. Though he tried to hide it, without success. But she knew better, she had been around his type all to often. She checked the time and decided that she could stay put for a little while longer. Sandra moved back to standing and observing the progress with the repairs from her quarters. As well as the different ships and views of the various moons and the home world as could be seen from where the ship was currently stationed. She lost herself in the peacefulness of the view for a while, until finally with a sharp turn, she turned her back on it and left her quarters to head for the bridge of the Creator.

Just a heads up, I'd like for the event in sector four to be wrapped up soon. I have an event to post for the rpg, central to the story, but that needs to be finished first, or so I understand according to Beth. It is pretty big so it needs to happen after that mess with the Representatives. If there is an issue with that wrapping up soon, let me know and we can work something out I'm sure. After all, school has absoutely no respect for one's time to do other stuff.

Donner absolutely has to die
Agreed. :p As for the actual battle and such, having talked to the others, it won't be me who starts the air battle, I imagine it will be Gavin or Malkav or even James. So... get posting Gavin!

Sad really and in my opinion, being smart or not smart enough to know better probably doesn't really play into this. Yes most adolescents understand the concept that death is permanent, universal, and inevitable. However, a predominant theme in adolescence is feelings of immortality or being exempt from death. I imagine it never crossed their minds that someone really could die. At least not for something like this. Yes it was stupid, but that's part and parcel of being a kid, you do stupid things. Only most of the time they don't end with someone dying as a result.

.....Did you just say that Star Ocean has different endings...?
Yes I did. Nine different possible endings or rather couple endings. Ten if you include Fayt?s solo ending. You see, in the game there are what?s known as Private Actions. Small events that shape the relationship between Fayt and the other main characters. These actions, depending on your answers result in affecting Fayt?s relationship with the others in either a negative or positive fashion. Earning affection points. At the end of the game, it is divided into two parts; the end of the storyline and the character endings. There are two types, solo and couple, and that is determined by the events you encountered and the points you have earned. It also affects the saying the other characters will use in battle. If say Albel likes Fayt, he uses different sayings in battle than what he would if he did not. It?s also central to later earning certain battle trophies, since one of the bonus dungeons
is your character facing Fayt and the character you were coupled with at the ending of the game.
If you want to earn every single battle trophy for that fight, you have to beat the game and get each ending. Something that can really have you sinking a lot of time into the game to do so. And since we are here? my hours for this are probably up to 300 now instead of the 250 I mentioned. So this is like three games in one as far as the 100 hours goes. I've spent way too much time on it. Heh.

Harrison had only been too glad to get back to the Sentinel and incidentally out of the dress uniform that Dwalish had given him. Though he took the time to hang it up with care in his tiny quarters as he got the feeling that being unpresentable due to wrinkles from carelessness on his part would be instantly noticed. And in his short time on board, he was quickly learning that unlike Chaos, attempting to slip through the cracks was not a smart move, if one wished to be more than just a simple recruit that is. He already was more on account of the commission from his father, something that upon learning more about it made him feel self conscious. Commissioned officers usually received training in leadership and management skills, in addition to regular training. Hence the reading and verbal drilling from Dwalish. But what really made him feel out of place was that most who received one had far more experience and education than he did. In short, other than to be related to his father, he had done nothing to earn it. His father had given him a starting point, one he really wasn?t ready for. However, it would be up to him to actually do anything with it and for some reason, the more he thought about it, the more determined he became to do it. Even if it meant the equivalent of doing lots of homework. Something that he had always managed to get out of, after all, so long as he got decent grades to ensure he could continue the swordsmanship classes, he didn?t care. But now? He wasn?t entirely sure why, but it felt like he had a chance to really do something for a change. He had never cared much for his father in the past, but the past week had shown him a side that he hadn?t realized existed. A side that he was eager to understand, or so it seemed. Things still felt so utterly confusing on some level. He only knew that at the moment, where he was felt right somehow, something he couldn?t recall feeling outside of his swordsmanship classes. Harrison shoved the thoughts out of mind as he hurried on yet another errand though the giant war ship. Since they had returned from the coronation, the bridge of the Sentinel had become busy as the military moved to help restore order to the chaos that had broken out in High Czenoble on account of the attack on the Royal Police Guard Headquarters and that of one of the Underdogs bases. Daedalus had been oddly quiet, that is until Harrison ran into him by virtue of coming around a corner and dodging to avoid running into him. With Dwalish gone to the surface to lead the soldiers personally, he was to go and grab some dinner and then head back to the bridge for even more work. ?Harrison,? He halted when spoken to turning around to face his father. ?Yes sir?? Even if there was no one around, it seemed wrong to call him by name. ?You?re heading to get dinner correct?? Harrison nodded. ?No calling me sir then,? Daedalus said firmly, sounding tired to Harrison. ?Keep me company for a bit if you don?t mind.? ?Of course not si? Dad.? He stumbled, a bit confused by the odd hint of sadness in his father?s expression. Was he worried about Dwalish? He wondered about that as he fell in, following along as he headed towards the bridge. He was uncertain as to what to say when Daedalus spoke up. ?How is training coming along Harrison?? It was small talk, strained at that, making Harrison feel the urge to break it. ?Is it always like this Dad? Worrying about others?? He rushed out. Even though Dwalish was a lot better than he was, it still made him feel tense that he was gone, a feeling he had never experienced before, worrying over someone else. The only time he could recall feeling anything similar was when he had been with Victoria Ann during the riots and even then, he had been in a position to do something. Instead of being forced to wait. He had felt the same when there had been a bomb at Rosengard as well. Worried. ?Always.? Harrison looked down surprised to hear him say it, at least for a moment, if he had ever thought to think about it, he would have realized. Or would he? Confused he merely said nothing, not knowing what to say really. ?You?d better go and get that dinner Harrison,? Daedalus caught his shoulder with his hand right as they got to the door to the bridge, bringing him to a halt. ?Can?t have you being distracted by hunger.? Harrison looked up to see a glint of amusement in his father?s eyes. ?You do the same, dad.? He smirked a little, ?At your age?? ?Off with you.? Daedalus gave him a friendly shove, cutting him off. Harrison just grinned and snickered before mock saluting his father and taking off down the corridor towards the mess hall. Completely missing how his father watched him until he was out of sight before turning to finally enter the bridge.

Dog breeds, your favorite and why...i
Horendithas replied to Akieen Cloud's topic in General Discussion
Non-shedding breeds like Poodles and Bichons. Though Bichons are better than Poodles since they aren't hyper. Anyway, not that other breeds aren't nice and all, but my asthma can't tolerate breeds that shed. The only ones I can be around that don't make me sick are the types I mentioned. I prefer cats, but I've yet to find a breed that allergy wise, isn't a disaster.. -

You really don't know what I'm talking about? Then let's look at the current RPGs on the front page of the Theater. One "tribe" of players participate in games like: - Silver One - Almagest Legacy - Gifts and Curses - Shinigami Dance - Project Starship - The Ragnarok While the other "tribe" plays in games like: - The Chosen Eight - Dragon Wars - Project Restoration - Naruto: Path to Light - Into the White - The Holy Ocean - Endless Waltz If you look at the posters in these thread, you see that the same names appear frequently inside each list, but only rarely on both lists. And these are just the games with the most posts on the first page. Now, it could be that the two tribes are just different cliques - gathering of people who think alike - but if you look at the contents and the style of the games, you can see a clear difference. Some call it difference in quality, some say it's about approachability, and some say it's just newbies versus oldies. Whatever the difference is, saying it doesn't exist is ignorant in my opinion. Whether this division is a problem or not, that's another issue.
Hmmm. Apparently I wasn't clear, I wasn't talking about the current rpg's going on, I was talking about Chat rpg's. I thought you were saying there was a division in that we didn't like them when I didn't know what you meant by Chat rpg in the first place. Something your description here:
Sandy walks to Sound. Sandy: Hi! *waves* Sound: Hi to you too!
Has cleared up so I was right, that style of rpging was gone before I became a member, or before I starting doing much rpging since I don't recall ever seeing one like that or written in that format. Anyway, it has nothing to do with who's in the rpg by the way, it has to do with whether or not the plot/story is something that even interests me. Take the list you put up, the Gifts & Curses for example. You may list it in the same tribe as you put it and yet it's the type of story I would not sign up for. Quality or even who's in it isn't what I look at when I sign up for a story. It's not even newbie vs oldie. It all comes down to, would I enjoy it or does the story interest me. There's also the issue of, do I even have time for more? Once I have so many rpg's I'm in, I don't bother to look since I don't have the time for another one. Like Darren's The Abyss. I was already committed to three rpg's. lol But anyway, your other example answered my real question. And my answer is the same, there is no division on my part against "chat" rpg's. I've never done one in that style so I don't know if I'd like it or not. :p

In my opinion there's room for both types here. ;D The players are quite strictly divided between them, at least... It's almost as if there are two tribes of players.
Oh I don't know about that, to a certain extent I don't even know what you are talking about since those type of rpg's must have fallen into disuse before I joined. So there's no division on my part, I don't even really know the difference. :p [I'm serious by the way, I really don't know] Anyway as for etiquette, I think that depends on the type of rpg you are in as to what would be considered acceptable. A good example is the death card series. In those, no one had direct control over any of the characters so you essentially did whatever you wanted to a certain degree, something you don't do with other rpgs where one controls a specific character. Now since I enjoy high levels of collaboration, something that I'm currently doing in Shinigami Dance, it's utterly imperative that you don't just post and hope you got it right. It's far less flexible in that respect and yet all four of us in it like working things out in advance. It may sound restricting, but the surprise in this comes from each player having their own agenda for developing their character. So the surprise of where they are going in that respect is a lot of fun. I can honestly say that after Silver One, it's the second best rpg I've ever been in. I like having all sorts of potential ideas for developing a character and actually getting to use them. Because they weren't derailed by to many other twists being introduced by the other players. This format has lead to a lot higher level of creativity and made it a lot more fun in the long run. It does require a lot more work though and attention to detail. But I'd say it's well worth it. I know I'm looking forward to where we go next. The next is more free flowing and though it's fun, I really hate it when people post about major events without bothering to say something. Like many people I'm sure, I think about potential paths to take so if someone keeps posting and dragging you along... well that sort of makes it next to impossible for you to do what you wanted. The communication is for that compromise, so that you don't kill off say an npc that the other person was planning to use shortly. You just have to talk to the other players to find out what they like and stick to it. Or find a middle ground so you don't annoy one another. Though you're bound to have people you don't enjoy rpging with. After all, it doesn't matter how good you are. I have no interest in joining a story I don't care for like say Naruto or Inuyasha. What do you look for in a relationship?
Horendithas replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
What do I look for in a relationship? There are so many things to consider really. It's important to me that someone is honest, intelligent, funny and fun to talk to. Has similar or at the very least some similar tastes. After all if a guy is only interested in sports, he and I will not be dating for long, or remain friends for long either. There is of course the need for him to not have an out of control ego, can't stand that really. Just as I have no use for the, if I take you to dinner you have to have sex afterwards. Uh... no. In fact if you're going into a relationship with me thinking sex is a given, you're wasting your time really. Another one, appearance doesn't have to be perfect, but hygiene sure as hell does. I'm sorry, but if I can smell you before I even open the door? It won't get opened. I don't like tall guys either. I'm all of 4'11 and I hate being towered over. It's nothing personal really, I'm just uncomfortable with it. In the end, if it goes beyond initial dating, I look for someone who can handle being in a partnership. I live in a state where a huge percentage of the population has some deal that it's a woman's place to stay in the home, blah, blah, blah and so forth. So I'm pretty choosy, starting with refusing to date anyone from said religion here that follows that. But seriously, so long as one can accept someone who wants a more equal deal. You and I will get along just fine... Whether it's to date or as a friend. -
Hmmm, other than to add who is playing as which character, the initial format is fine by me. Since as you said Darren, the edit button is your friend. Anyway, as for graphics for the thread, unless someone has an idea as to what to make, I have nothing in mind to suggest. I'm about to head out, but point of reference for Allamorph, I do have further information on Gavrie and his familiar Karl that you'll want to know before you follow up on my post. I'll get it to Rach to add to the NPC section since it will be in the form of a picture of Gavrie and his familiar along with the scythe he uses. :p
