1. It had been a while since the team left for the space station and yet nothing had been heard yet. Brianna had spent the entire time working on the information provided as to the details of discovering the unknown gate. She had thought about going to the bridge to help, but in all honesty, there wasn't much for her to do. She was accustomed to leading expedition's not an investigation of a drifting space station or strange gravitational anomalies that could not be explained. A quick glance at the time on her computer screen showed that a few hours had passed. I should go to the bridge and see how things are going. Even if they would contact her if needed, there was no reason why she had to stay in her quarters, she could go through the information at any terminal. Decided she shut the terminal down and got up, stretching just a tiny bit before she went to leave her quarters. It was with great surprise that she nearly ran into the door when it failed to open when she approached. What the? Brianna reached up with her right hand and pressed the button on the tiny terminal built into the wall next to the door. But nothing happened and the words insufficient power flashed briefly across the tiny screen. "Insufficient power?" Brianna was incredulous. How was that possible? Even if they were in hyper drive a small ship like the Argo Navis should have more than enough power for something as simple as opening a door. With an annoyed grunt she punched the button again only to get the same response. "What the hell is going on?" She turned and went back over to her desk to contact the bridge but halted when the door finally opened. Surprised she turned around wondering just what had happened. Cautiously she approached the door and then stepped outside, as if nothing had happened the door simply shut behind her. Curious she slide her IDT card in the reader to open the door back up, but once again the message insufficient power flashed on the screen. Brianna wondered if something was wrong with the lock mechanism for her quarters. Lovely. She thought. I'd better stay out of there or I'll end up stuck inside. With a sigh she turned and headed for the bridge. Relieved that she had at least gotten out of her quarters. The idea of being stuck in there and needing someone else to free her was embarrassing to think about. After all, what kind of expedition leader couldn't get out of their own quarters? But when she ran her IDT to gain access to the bridge the exact same thing happened again. Brianna started to curse under her breath and stopped when the doors opened. Both Bishop and Kendra were seated at the pilot's spot, talking about something among themselves. "I need to ask both of you something." She waited for both of them to turn and face her. "What can I help you with?" Kendra said with a smile. "When I try to open the door to my quarters and to the bridge just now I got a message saying there was insufficient power." Bishop looked skeptical and so did Kendra. "Are you sure?" She continued when Brianna nodded. "That should not happen, even if we were on emergency power only, there would still be enough to operate the doors." She turned back to the terminal and started checking the systems and then turned back to Brianna. "I'll look into it, but everything looks just fine. I'm not showing any signs of a power drain or malfunction that would cause something like that." Brianna nodded, "Very well, let me know if you find anything." She turned and went over to the communication spot on the bridge to pull up what she had been working on. If it happens again, I'd much rather be with someone else. She thought. Brianna did not want to end up stuck by herself in her quarters or some other part of the ship.
 2. Just to let you know Rach and Allamorph, I intend to get in one more post to go a bit in depth on Adrian's reaction to Aeru. It might affect what the two of you have in mind so you might want to wait on it. I'll have that up later today or tomorrow by the latest, if that works for both of you. It's too bad that Revolver is not able to really get on. I haven't got any ideas on how to include Shalua so perhaps the two of you could do that when you set off whatever it is that you've got planned. EDIT: And it's posted. If it's not totally obvious. Adrian is far angrier and upset than he normally would be.
 3.
and for those of you who dont smoke what do you think of smoking?
It's something that I avoid whenever possible. Not that it's anything against the person in question, but I have asthma and breathing in cigarette smoke can often bring on an asthma attack. Something I've learned over the years the hard way. So though it may seem harsh, for the most part I avoid people who smoke because to be blunt, they always forget that it's a problem for me and I hate having to remind them to 'take it outside' And like Rach said... I also hate the smell.
 4.
and yes of course...cream savers :p.
So long as we're talking about the Raspberry ones, I agree. As for candy in general. I really don't have it very often. Usually something like jolly ranchers or the cream savers is something I end up having when I do get candy. Most of the time, when I want something sweet, I end up having fresh fruit. I never get tired of nectarines, or peaches, or pears, etc.
 5. Only one question Sandy and it's more for you than for either Rachmaninoff or Aaryanna. And that is... Why did it come down to two people that would be a pain to choose from? :p Still congrats on making it this far you two, honestly, it won't be an easy choice. At least for me it won't. *tries to think of a question...* Alright, out of everyone who was a part of this... Who do you think was the most creative/dedicated with their input for the challenges?
 6. "You'll be answering to me from now on, Grape Ape. I've assumed control of the CTU." "I see," Grape Ape said, suddenly looking even more tired. "How do the others feel about this?" "That's besides the point Grape Ape, what is the point is that you could have prevented all the recent deaths if you had been more focused on the task before you. It's clear that you are burned out on this war." Crystia stated bluntly, ignoring Grape Ape's surprise. "How can you say that? I've put everything I have into this." "You're lost your vigilance and determination Grape Ape, whether you want to admit it or not!" Crystia asserted forcefully. "If you were more on top of things I would not have needed to step in and organize everyone." What Grape Ape would have said was lost when Gadget's voice interrupted their argument. "That's enough you two!" Startled both of them looked around until it dawned on them that Gadget was speaking to them from the hospital's computer network. "What is going on here?" Crystia demanded. "Agent Fluff said she handed you over to the Beast and that he destroyed you." "It's simple Agent Crystia, I uploaded myself to the computers here at the hospital before Fluff left. Also," Gadget addressed Grape Ape this time. "Crystia is right Grape Ape, both you and Charlie lost sight of what was important in the end. I'm sorry, but it's better that she takes over and leads the CTU." "I see," Grape Ape said as he sat down in the closet chair looking even more tired. "Don't be like that Grape Ape!" Crystia said, her voice softening a bit. "I still need your help with this if we are going to put an end to Gavin." She turned back to Gadget who spoke up again. "Speaking of Gavin... I've located the forum his headquarters is in. He's in the Otaku Archives forum." "That's fantastic! Grape Ape! Go and get Nerdsy, once we get Gadget uploaded into his PDA, we move out!" At that precise moment Crystia's moderator communicator that all category mods were given beeped, it was an incoming feed from James. As soon as Grape Ape had left she opened it up. "Sir, what can I do for you?" "Crystia, I need you to get all moderators to cease contact with the CTU immediately." "But sir! Is that really necessary?" Crystia started to object. "Crystia, please don't argue with me, I have my reasons, I promise I'll explain them in detail in the staff lounge later." James asserted. "I see, very well, I'll get on it immediately." Crystia closed the communicator and put it back into her pocket. "Great, now what do I do?" "Nothing, ignore the order Crystia." Gadget spoke up. "I can't Gadget. It's my job to follow James's orders." With a bit of a sigh she sat down. "What if it wasn't James?" "What? But, who else would have the authority to transmit on that frequency?" "I'm afraid that if we don't hurry, we'll be too late." Gadget said. "Crystia, that wasn't James, that was an OtakuBot that you just spoke to."
 7.
Beg pardon? You think??! No. No, there's no question involved, guys. It is a personal choice. You say yes, or you say no. Whatever your history is?be it your rearing, your religion or lack thereof (which is technically still a religion, guys), or your hormones?the decision in the moment is you..
Don't be so literal Allamorph, because many religions see it as their duty to attempt to make that choice for people. Arguing the semantics of how in the end someone is the one to make that choice is pointless. We're talking about how it should be a personal choice from the standpoint of excluding those social factors that would say otherwise. You've missed the point.
As far as sex itself goes, there are two functions it is designed for: reproduction, and pleasure. Within marriage, both have a functional place. Outside of marriage, the reproductive aspect is diminished by the absence of the family unit, and I would even go so far as to say that pleasure is the only motivator here. So then the question becomes, do you want this singular kind of intense pleasure? Personally, I have no need for it. I just don't care. At all. There might be other reasons besides that, such as the fact that my habit of processing multiple strains of information at the same time would make such an intimate situation quite awkward (I doubt that sex works well at the same time as schedule-planning, for instance...or even how baseball and mathematics are intertwined), but ultimately it is my total lack of interest in our culture's pastime that explains why I don't seek it out.
I would have thought that the fact that so many people do have sex would indicate that they do want that singular kind of intense pleasure as you put it. And Allamorph, pleasure is not the only motivator, if the other person isn't desirable or even likable on some level, pleasure or not many of us would not have sex with them. And saying the reproductive part is diminished by the absence of the family unit? Rubbish. There are lots of people who live together, have kids and are not married. Only religion would have you think that one has to be legally married to be considered a family. Saying you don't care is sad, sex is part of a healthy relationship whether or not one is married, and how can you say you don't care when it sounds like you've never even had it? Stop processing multiple strains of information and don't wait for a moment when you're not. There's no such thing as the perfect moment, to some degree, you make that moment with your partner. And like Sandy said... Sex is just as important as the other aspects of a relationship.
 8.
I'm just curious about how people learned about sex (school, parents, Cinemax?) What myths, truths, facts or rumors did you have to go on? Anything you wish you just didn't know (Or see, because I can imagine some of us have some scarring in our lives from things we wish we'd never seen) Or maybe some emberassing stories?
I learned about it first from my mother and then later from friends. School didn?t really cover much of anything. As for seeing something I almost wish I hadn't? Some pictures of what certain STD?s do to you weren?t that pleasant, but I?d rather know than find out the hard way.
Also a more serious question. (I'm covering all bases tonight) Do you think that abstinence is important? Should you wait to have sex after marriage or does it just matter that you're mature enough to make that type of decision?
Abstinence is important only in the context of a complete sex education or rather in people being fully aware of all avenues they can take when it comes to sex. Do I think sex should only happen after marriage? Hell no. If you?re mature enough, there?s no reason why you can?t have sex as part of a relationship. I?ll avoid the religious slant here since most if not all of incidents where I?ve seen it supported as the way to go, were because of religious beliefs that I do not agree with.
I know not everyone wants all the intimate details, but for me it wasn't all that exciting the first time. Infact it was lack luster and I wished I had a book. :D The phrase 'We are not amused' flashed in my head a few times. And I was convinced my roommates in college had lied to me.
Well no exact details, but my first time, though obviously not as good once I matured and learned more, was still just fine. And I?ll leave the reasons as to why it was fine out of this. Heh.
As for the abstinence question. I didn't exactly wait and I don't believe my kids will either. I think it's all about personal choices. But you should make sure that you're ready to do something that big. Of course in that same breath: You test drive a car before you buy it so why shouldn't you sleep with someone you're thinking of marrying?
I agree with the personal choice bit, but I have to poke fun at the test-driving a car analogy. lol But then sex for me in a relationship hasn?t been a question of whether or not I was thinking of marrying them. Or 'testing' what they were like. lol
 9. He's hardly a hero and since Drix D'Zanth, listed many of the reasons why he's not, I'll not bother to expand on it. But yeah, just go and read up on what this 'man' did and it becomes clear that hero is not a word that describes him. He may not have known about the existing natives, but it sure as hell didn't stop him from doing whatever he wanted to gain money and power.
 10. Whatever Nathan would have said, he did not get the chance to say it. The Count took the initiative, his expression taking on an almost demonic glee as he stood up and declared: "Shinigami! Welcome to Purgatory!" Astera gave out a tiny little gasp of surprise when everyone vanished, leaving them alone with the Count. What kind of trickery is this? Instantly Adrian tensed, calling forth his scythes and then taking a defensive stance with the one in his left hand angled to shield while the one in his right he held to the side, poised to strike. But the Count continued talking as if everyone was still there, which made no sense. He could not detect anyone other than himself, Astera and the Count. What? He couldn't sense the other vampires either! Was this one of the traps he spoke of? Making it impossible for him to tell where they were? We'll see about that. He thought grimly, ignoring his words about a parallel universe as well as the advice that there would be a tool to allow them to escape. Instead at the precise moment the Count began to laugh, throwing his head back a bit and thus his gaze off of Adrian and Astera... Adrian launched himself towards him with blinding speed. But the Count was not so easily caught off guard, he vanished into the darkness right before Adrian would have struck. Adrian snarled in anger as his downward strike instead tore through the chair the count had been sitting on, cleaving it in two. Damn! "Coward." Adrian spat as he turned around and surveyed the room. Now the only one he could sense was himself and Astera. "What are we going to do Adrian?" Astera piped up. "I can't feel anything at all! Do you think the others are alright?" "We'll deal with the Count. Once he's dead this trick of his will most likely vanish." Adrian said even as he strode boldly across the floor and back to the doors. He did not bother to ghost through or open the doors directly, instead, with a combination horizontal and vertical slice he tore the doors off their hinges sending them crashing into the far wall of the hallway. He ignored Astera's question as to whether or not the others were alright or not. "Adrian! Please! Calm down." Astera pipped up, she shivered a bit, worried that he was so angry. She didn't like it when things upset Adrian. "I will Astera, once I've dealt with the Count." He assured her. Then he immediately took off heading deeper into the mansion, intending to find the room where the Count would be located. The other vampires did not matter, at least not yet. He would take care of them after he dealt with the Count. It had been a long time since he had needed two scythes and for a while he had toyed with the idea of switching back to one, but now as he encountered the lethal traps the Count spoke of he was glad that he had not. Even if spinning blades and projectiles were primitive and easy to counter, for a Shinigami that is. And though normally such a thing would not be able to harm one such as he, Adrian wasn't going to test it just to find out. He went from room to room, hunting for something, anything that would tell him where to look next. Adrian was not amused when they encounter a pack of wolves that had been driven insane by some dark magic and set loose. Even if it was a simple matter to put them out of their misery by virtue of the purifying flames he could feel Astera's anger at what the Count or someone else had done to them. And yet, at the same time there was something about them that did not feel real. Adrian shook the feeling off as he explored yet another large bedroom, hunting for not only the Count but for any clue that would lead them out of the trap they had been caught in. He was about to leave to head for the next room when Astera spoke. "Adrian! Look!" She cried, pointing to a tall mirror on the far wall, she stood up on his shoulder excitedly as he approached the mirror. "It's Aeru! She's alright! But why is she in the mirror?" As if she could hear Astera, Aeru turned from her position inside the mirror and faced the two of them, her eyes widening in surprise as she looked at the two of them. "Adrian? Astera? Is that really you?" OCC: Tag, DB

Being officers, both of them are also trained to use special explosives. Although they do not use weapons such as swords, guns and other more primitive weapons. Both have received standard training in using such weapons should the need arise. Though their experience is with holographic representations of such weapons and neither one has actually handled a primitive weapon. Special Skills: Sandra is well versed in military tactics and leadership, she currently is the Commodore commanding the flagship the Creator. Sandra is also a member of the High Council, one of those who rule the Versilan Empire. Normally one must be a candidate for the position for a set amount of years before being allowed to serve. However, with recent developments, including the discovery of treachery on her father's part, she was promoted to take her fathers place once he had been executed for his crimes. Recruited by Sandra to serve as her sub-commander, Jared is also well versed in military tactics. In addition to his training he is also an expert interrogator and is quite ruthless in his pursuit of resistance members. Though he started by serving under Sandra on a smaller battleship, when Sandra was promoted to Commodore of the Creator Jared was promoted as well and became the Commander of the Creator and continues to serve as Sandra's second in command. Personality: Sandra is resourceful, dedicated and a bit cold at times. She is accustomed to power and has little to no respect for individual rights, even of her own people. Though occasionally she has a warm side. Jared is ruthless, cruel and takes great pleasure in using others to satisfy his own needs. His dedication to always following through with his duties as a Commander before anything else makes him an ideal officer; since unlike others who enjoy tormenting others he never allows his personal agendas to interfere with his sworn duty. Short Bio: Both Jared and Sandra were a part of the force that headed the invasion of Earth and following setup of enforcing Versilan rule. Once Resistance factions on Earth had been dealt with, both of them returned to Sector One, the location of the home world and High Council. Both have been heavily involved in the declaration of Martial Law, and following investigation of the High Council as well as working to restore order. Now both of them are preparing for retaking the sectors that have broken off.

I wasn't expecting you to actually recognize it. It was more of a way to use something a bit older and yet a play on the words of silence. A foreshadowing of the vampires eventually being put to rest. Though seeing how you seperated everyone, it turned out to be the Shinigami who were, for the moment, put into silence. It's supremely ironic how well that fit into what you had in mind DB. As well as creepy at how well I unintentionally set that up. lol As for killing the minions, I wasn't planning on nailing to many at least not at first since I was planning on waiting to see how things played out first instead of going on an indiscriminate killing spree. As much as Adrian would enjoy that. Now as for Adrian's reaction to what just happened, it's going to be interesting, just wait and see. I'll probably have that up either later tonight or tomorrow. 15. No door breaking, a deliberate fake show of hospitality for whatever devilish plans the Count has in mind. Though I left it open for Allamorph to catch the tag and lead in with Nathan or for someone else to get creative and have something more fun happen. After all the doors did close behind them, the Count is at the other end of an enormous room and who knows what kind of traps a place like the mansion is hiding. In other words, go wild, if you so choose. lol Oh and enjoy the name DB. :p
 16. Enjoy The Silence Adrian just kept his mouth shut when Shalua showed up. Coldly withdrawing into himself and putting a slight distance between him and the others. Maybe it would be better if I go on my own to the mansion? But he brushed the thought aside as the others waited briefly while he picked up Astera who immediately perched on his left shoulder and brightly chatted about all that her and Isen had found in regards to the clue. And then just as he figured he would, once Nathan was done talking with Isen, they left. Though Isen did not come, something that did not surprise Adrian, he knew that those two had a different relationship. It was the same for him and Astera, their relationship was different. Though as to what that difference was... Well it was no one's business and letting the others think whatever they wanted was fine by Adrian. He knew perfectly well that other Shinigami had the wrong idea as to why he pretty much never left her behind. It was a measure of the regard he had for Nathan that he even allowed Astera to stay behind in the first place. Though Nathan did not know it. Adrian pulled his thoughts back to their present task. Aeru... though that too presented yet another problem. Then as only a Shinigami could, once Nathan and Adrian were back with the others, they took to the air and swiftly flew to the mansion that was suppose to be located along the seashore. The stars were clear and bright once they were clear of the city and flying above the tree tops of the forest. The first hint of the nearly full moon was just starting to rise as they finally came within sight of the building where the Count was suppose to be living. Just before they would have arrived, as one they stopped looking at one another. "The only question now is do we split up or do we stick together?" Adrian looked at each one, even Shalua who was being unusually quiet considering how irritating she could truly be. "I don't think it makes a difference really," Lucia observed. "I can already sense that there are vampires in that mansion so I am sure they can sense us as well. It's better to go as one, at least initially." "Works for me." Adrian said with a shrug, he turned without waiting for the others to respond and flew to the grand steps leading to the entrance of the huge mansion. Moments later the rest of them landed next to him. He was considering whether to simply go through the door or not when with a slight squeak from the hinges the door opened to reveal the blonde woman who he had run into earlier. "We've been waiting for you... Shinigami..." She said with a mocking bow. Behind her, the huge hallway was lined with what had to be the servants of the Count, all of them children, dressed in black dresses and standing along the walls, their heads slightly bowed as if they were important guests to be greeted. What kind of nonsense is this? Adrian wondered. Does the Count really think that we would hesitate to send children on to the next life? Without meaning to Adrian tensed and then paused at a tiny shake from Nathan. Adrian forced himself to relax. "Then you know why we are here," Adrian said coldly. "Return Aeru immediately." The blonde vampire bowed deeply and then spoke once again. "The Count is waiting to speak to you on this matter, if you would come this way please?" She turned, half raised from her bow to see what their response would be. "Fine." Adrian snapped a bit, ignoring the amused grin on her face as she straightened and turned her back on them to lead the way down the long hallway. Adrian tried to ignore the children who were standing along the hallway, their heads slightly bowed. Damn vampire, using children to further his goals and as a shield to hide behind. The further they went, the more he fumed, eager for the chance to put an end to the Count. Even if he had not kidnapped Aeru, he was still a vampire and needed to be sent to the next phase of life. Then finally they came to a huge set of double doors that two children opened wide upon their arrival, while the blonde stood just to the left and bowed, indicating they should go in first. And though Adrian and the others were sure it was most likely a trap they entered the massive room, ignoring the sound of the huge doors closing behind them. As one they turned their attention to the person lounging in a massive chair at the end of the huge room. Aeru was no where to be seen and the man with long hair and a short beard was appraising all of them with a satisfied grin on his face. It was without a doubt the Count himself. Just what is he planning? Adrian wondered as he looked to Nathan and with a tiny nod of his head indicated that he should speak for the group.

Ye cannae be rushin' me.
Actually you wouldn't be too far off, remember in my sign up, Astera is the only one he has a soft spot for. :p Which is why I told SunfallE about Adrian expecting to pick her up first. As for the post already... I'm just poking you. Heh. Besides Prem needs to get in a post so Adrian can be annoyed that she has shown up.
 19.
And since that's the case, I think I'll run a go-ahead with the sinister scythe idea I had a couple of days ago. This just keeps getting better and better.
You've got my attention since I'm curious to know what your sinister scythe idea is. So post! Heh.
The only thing I'm wondering is if the group would stick together once they arrive at the mansion? Or would they decide to split into groups to check the place out? What do you guys think? 20.
Has Darren even been on since the creation of this thread? I figured he was dead, lol. Anyway, I thik this is a dangerous time for any RP with so many huge rps going on right now. I distincly remember SunfallE literally saying that 'even if Darren posted the Abyss tright now, I probably wouldn't be able to participate.'
He may not have posted but he was online just yesterday. Also, the timing is actually probably fairly good, why? Because several major RPG's have wrapped up or are going to be wrapping up fairly soon. SunfallE's reservations come from planning out the next Silver One, something I am currently helping her with. But beyond that OtakuBoards Survivor 4 is coming to a close, FQFG though not finished is pretty slow as well as Esper Jam. And even Project Starship, though fun, is on the slow side. So even though there is a lot going on, it has quieted down a little. Anyway, I'm not looking for an immediate answer as to it going up, but rather I'm trying to find out if it's been abandoned altogether since we have not heard from Darren in a while. So I'm mainly curious to see if he no longer plans on doing one.
 21. Perhaps you could update us with your plans in regards to this since it is now the 10th and pretty much everyone is back in school. I'm sure by now people know what their schedule is like so they'd know if they had time to be a part of the next death card rpg or not.
 22. Ever since she had been seperated from the others when the energy had behaved erratically, once Vanyel had woken up and found herself alone she had started searching. It wasn't easy, the unnatural darkness made seeing very far difficult and even when she had tried searching for the others with her mind she had found nothing. But as she moved to the edge of what appeared to be a ravine, she began to wonder if what she was sensing around her was keeping her from being able to detect the others. Whatever it was, she did not trust it, and though they had not stopped what happened, Vanyel kept her psychic shields up. Vanyel couldn't be certain with the darkness making it hard to see clearly, but the ravine she stood next to seemed to be the very one they had teleported over when they had first started their search. She thought about trying to fly over it and changed her mind. If she was still on Rilenti 4 along with the others, then whatever was keeping her from sensing the others could possibly interfere with her abilities. Vanyel looked down into the ravine and shuddered a bit, they had been unable to see the bottom when there had been light. The last thing she wanted to do was fall to her death. Still, she was curious to see if it really would interfere with her abilities. Slowly she rose into the air, about a foot above the ground, everything seemed to work just fine. Vanyel traveled at the same distance over the ground, along the edge of the ravine for a while before finally settling back down on the surface. She looked around and spotted a fairly flat boulder, with a mental sigh she sat down and opened up the small bag she still had with her. It still had the fruit they had found before they had been seperated. She took one out and then pulled her legs up until she was sitting crosslegged, thinking about what had happened while she ate the fruit. It had started when the energy had first come down to the planet, surrounding them as well as driving the animals wild. But their agitated state of mind had made detecting them easy and for the most part her group had been avoiding them. But then, suddenly, the energy had contracted, moving to the core of the planet and then came back to the surface, having inverted itself somehow. When it had hit, within seconds she had lost contact with the others. Her psychic shield had been useless as the energy had seemed to be completely unaffected by it. She had tried to hang on to consciousness but in the end had lost the battle. Vanyel finished the fruit and finally got back up with a sigh. She still could not sense anyone. What if my abilities are limited by what I'm sensing around me? Are they only working within the psychic shield? If that's the case, would dropping it allow me to sense further? It was a tempting thought, but without knowing what now surrounded her, it seemed far too foolhardy and risky to chance lowering the shield. No, if that really is the case, if I lower the shield, then I could lose the ability to do anything when what's around me hits. I'd better keep the psychic shield up. She didn't want to admit it openly, but Vanyel did not want to be stuck in this place, wandering through the semi darkness all alone. As much as she pretended otherwise, ever since she had come to Esper Hall, she had become use to having others around her. Even if she rarely talked to any of them, on some level it had been comforting to finally have people she could be around without worrying about any of them bothering her. I wonder if Tasha is alright? Frustrated she stood on top of the boulder she had just been sitting on. If only I could see further! Vanyel turned in a full circle, but saw nothing. Tired of the darkness she decided to see if she could use her fire ability to create a small ball of fire for light. It was one of the training exercises her teachers had been having her do to help her gain better control, only she had never tried to do it without one of them around to put it out if she lost control. She put the thought aside and extended her right hand, palm up and concentrated on creating the sphere, seconds later one formed, hovering just above her hand. Pleased, Vanyel extended it until it was the size of a basketball. Then, just as she had done in her lessons she channeled all the energy into that small space until the flames were a solid bright light. It never failed to fascinate her how the flames would easily destroy and yet leave her untouched so long as she remained in control. Finished, she gave it a mental nudge moving it until it was a bit higher. Vanyel couldn't help but smile a bit as she looked around to see that the light from the sphere was traveling a good distance, making it much easier to see. She was so relieved to no longer be in such darkness that Vanyel tied the sphere into the edge of her psychic shield, causing it to move with her as she walked. Not once, as she continued her search, did it cross her mind to wonder how she had suddenly gained so much more control over her fire ability.
 23. I do believe this has been suggested before: Community Events Suggestion I was in favor of the idea then and I still am. I think there are a lot of ideas out there just waiting to be put into action.
 24. Just a quick note about my post since there is a plot point I discussed with Beth when I was working on it. The reason Dr. Rhodes was expecting them to force their way in is because other than the military, regular ships do not have transport technology just yet since it's a relatively new technology. Being the expedition leader, naturally Brianna was briefed on this, however she has mistakenly assumed that everyone knows about it, or rather that all of them were briefed on it as well. The moment I saw your post Shy I got that idea and ran it past Beth since I couldn't resist poking Nakeisha, she's a fun character. Heh. Now I'm just waiting for the moment where she solves something and rubs it in everyone's face that she was right. :p
 25. When Brianna headed to the area right before the door leading to the transport room, the very last thing she ever expected to hear was Dr. Rhodes expressing concern about breaching the hull of the space station. What in the world? Where did she get that idea? It was clear to Brianna that the others were too startled by her statement to say anything to Dr. Rhodes about just how absurd her declaration was. With transport technology, breaching the hull was completely and totally unnecessary. And the declaration that she was going to report Kendra to the Federation?s Humanities Inquisitor? Did that fool not read the contract she signed when she accepted this assignment? Brianna wondered. It had been quite clear that by doing so one would lose their civilian status and be partially under the military's jurisdiction. In other words, that they agreed to accept the possibility that they would be required to take up assignments that would put their lives at risk. Brianna just shook her head in disbelief. "Dr. Rhodes." Brianna said, a clear hint of displeasure in her voice causing everyone to turn to face her; Nakeisha came to a halt. "What is this nonsense about breaching the hull of the space station? We may not be a military expedition but I was assured that we were fitted with the newest transport technology." She looked to Colonel DeSouza who simply nodded. Brianna turned back to Dr. Rhodes who was for once speechless. "We will not be breaching the hull, the team will be transporting directly over to the location Mr. Bishop has locked onto." Without meaning to Brianna put her hands on her hips and leaned forward just a tad. "I was under the impression that you yourself preferred to not live in the stone age when it came to technological advances." "But... No one told me that the Argo Navis would have transport technology! Still that doesn't change how dangerous it could be!" Nakeisha started to get agitated. "For all we know the atmosphere could be..." "Dr. Rhodes." Brianna interrupted her. "You need to trust those who you have been given the privilege of working with. Dr. Sanderson has already forwarded a report to Colonel DeSouza detailing the conditions over at the space station. The officers are going first to double check this data to be on the safe side. So something as extreme as a vacuum suit is not needed." Nakeisha opened her mouth to protest but Brianna cut her off again. "By all means change into one if you really feel that insecure without one." Brianna ignored her indignant gasp and then sighed when Nakeisha stalked off to change into her vacuum suit. "Well, that was rather interesting," Brianna observed once Nakeisha was out of range. "I take it that you're almost ready to leave Colonel?" "You could say that," Marcus said dryly, indicating the direction Nakeisha had taken. He turned to Kendra, "It won't take us long to double check things, I'd like you to stick around and send Dr. Travis and Dr. Rhodes over when I give the signal." Kendra just looked resigned. "Understood Colonel." Though it was clear that she'd rather be somewhere else and Brianna could understand that sentiment. I need to talk to whoever selected Dr. Rhodes for this assignment. Brianna thought. The way she jumps to conclusions and makes assumptions as to what everyone is doing is disruptive. Once again she shook her head, only now understanding why Kendra had recommended her. Obviously Dr. Rhodes needed real on hands experiance instead of sitting in a lab and relying on machines to gather the information for her. Brianna took note of how Teresa though hyper was obviously well prepared, James who still a bit reserved was also clearly prepared and Vayne who was also at ease, simply waiting for Colonel DeSouza to give the go ahead. Satisfied with what she saw Brianna put it out of mind. Those three along with the Colonel would be enough to keep Dr. Rhodes out of mischief. "I'll be in my quarters if you need anything else Colonel," Brianna continued when he simply shook his head indicating that there was nothing else that he needed. "Good luck then. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you and everyone else to be careful." Then with a nod Brianna turned and left, she still had the reports on the Gate to finish reading, it would be foolish to not use the extra time to go through them.
