However, the anime doesn't make much of this clear at all, as the nature of it is not to tell the story already presented by the manga, but highlight a few moments from the manga through animation.
That's something I wish I had known before I watched a fan sub of this. It was interesting, but the whole time I kept waiting for it to make sense and it never did. Other than I got that the first part was really the ending and the rest was bits that lead up to that moment presented in the beginning of the show.
In all, this is an anime directed almost exclusively at existing fans of the BLAME![/i'] manga, and it will spoil events that take place in the manga without offering any real context or insight into the story. However, if you're like me and have a yen for both anime and experimental art or art film, then you might enjoy it even if you haven't read the manga before. I, for one, am now interested in picking up the manga series and understanding more of the story (even if I am already familiar with a couple of plot twists), but I think that the animation did a very good job of capturing the essence of twisted architecture and loneliness within the Megastructure that the manga is supposed to capture by itself.
I did find it interesting, if only for the concept of the Megastructure, but having watched those snippets I would have been more interested in seeing the whole thing animated instead of the short fans only type of treat that they did. That and I really have no interest in the manga. For that type of story, I prefer to see it animated over the manga format. Still overall it was interesting, and the art style and portrayal of the Megastructure was nicely done. I'd never watch it again though.

Writing The Challenge: A Survivor Story [PG
Horendithas replied to SunfallE's topic in Creative Works

I am enjoying just reading it, and I would love to see if the three remaining manage to get one-up on Sandy somehow, and to check out the conclusion. XD
I know I'm looking forward to that moment. Sandy getting clobbered that is. Heh.
It's refreshing to see this type of short story, where you'll know that the writer will finish it soon. I swear, there are so many great beginnings for stories in this forum that never get to the end, for some reason or another. I'm so glad that this won't be one of them.
I agree. I hate seeing so many stories that are interesting and yet never get to the end. So for the same reason I'm looking forward to getting to see how this one finally finishes. And yes Beth that's a hint that we want to see the next chapter and soon. -
Jared had not gotten around to figuring out what was bothering Kerstin, for the simple reason that he didn't see it as a priority. It was more of a curiosity than anything else. But lately even though he was finished with Blaine and had already arranged for him to be transported to the Council Center, he still had far too much to do. Returning partial power to the High Council members who had been cleared had also required through checks of the personal who worked with them. Checks that he was required to review for inconsistencies before handing them over to Stevens for the final okay. It wasn't difficult, but it was extremely tedious. And now as Jared reached up to press the button to let Sandra know he was just outside her quarters, it was time to go over some other concerns that she had as well. He entered without hesitation and immediately moved to join her in the small conference area to the right of the main area that housed the sofa and other amenities. Sandra motioned for him to take a seat at the small table and then pulled up a report for him on the screen built into the table where he was seated. "I'll get straight to the point Jared," Sandra said. "As you can see here, Darren has noticed that supplies are being slowly siphoned into sector nine. It's nothing major if you look at it on a day to day basis, but if you take a look at how much has been sent there once the High Council was put under house arrest, it's quite substantial." Jared looked at the figures for basic supplies and surprisingly, even the military in that section seemed to be stockpiling. That could only mean one thing, he looked back up at Sandra. "You realize what that means, Erica's claims that there is something that could result in Civil War has some merit to it." Jared observed. "What other reason would they have to start stockpiling supplies and weapons?" "None whatsoever. If not for the fact that a huge percentage of the extend families of those who have yet to cooperate are in sector nine and the surrounding sectors, I would think nothing of it." Sandra closed the report. "However, they are in sector nine and can think of no other reason for such a build up. It's clear that they are preparing for the eventuality of War breaking out." Sandra stood up and went back into the main room to first fix herself a drink and then stand patiently waiting while Jared did the same, staring out into space before finally turning back to face Jared. "What concerns me the most is that sections of the military are also doing the same, when I contacted them for clarification as to why they have requested more than they need, their answer was vague and merely alluded to a mistake in expected use of their current resources." Sandra finished her drink and after setting the empty glass down at the bar in the kitchen she took a seat facing the floor to ceiling windows. Jared took a seat as well, placing his untouched drink on the small table between the chairs. "Have you ordered the return of the extra supplies? If it's just a mistake as they put it, surely they'll have the extra shipped back to the main supply station in sector one." Jared paused, "Or have you done that already?" Sandra turned a bit so she was facing Jared, "I already made that request and their answer was that they'll re-evaluate what they need and then send the rest back. Though I expect that check to be dragged out." "What did you want me to do?" Jared asked. "I want you to check out a couple of the higher ranking officers in the fleet in that sector. Their answers to my concerns are a bit to pat for my liking, especially since they seem to be the only ones who are stockpiling military weapons." "Anything else?" Sandra just smiled and shook her head, "No, that should do for now. I'll send you the full files on each officer that I want you to check out." She stood up and took Jared's untouched drink and took it into the kitchen area to dispose of it. "I'll get started on it immediately then," Jared replied when she came back out to the main area. With a slight bow he left her quarters. It would be interesting to see just who she wanted checked out. There just wasn't a reason for the military to be stocking up on supplies. The locals he could see since the whole mess had a lot of people panicking and doing the same, but the military? They had no reason at all. For them to have done so was a clear indication that something was up. As Jared came to the junction in the corridors of the Creator that went separate ways, for a moment he hesitated, to the right was the direction of the bridge, straight ahead lead to other aspects such as sickbay, and the path to the left went to more of the top officers quarters as well as the guest quarters that both Darren and Kerstin were using. He almost headed to Kerstin's quarters to talk with her until a chime from his handheld caught his attention. Jared opened it to see that he had received several reports with matters that required his immediate attention. He turned and headed for the bridge, reading through the reports he had just gotten, once again, Kerstin would have to wait.

Ironically I'm surprised DB hasn't watched this yet, it has some very obvious moments that would appeal to him. lol
Oh I agree, like the moment when Akiko's friend attempts to
deflower Yuichi but gets foiled by Akiko. lol
Also I agree, even though they portrayed the doctor in kinder light towards the end, it still didn't change the fact that he was a jackass. Even if he was the one who
did the operation that resulted in giving Rika more time.
Anyway, I'll echo the sentiment that this is a nice short series that's worth watching. It's got a nice mixture of comedy, drama and sweet romance going on and the ending
though sad
was great in that it fit the circumstances of what was going on in Rika's life. I'm not planning on doing this Prem, but I do have some pictures you might want to use: Fayt with Wings and Fayt with Sword Since those first two aren't that great for banner making. I know I have a better version of the one with Fayt and the Wings, but it's been so long since I actually got the picture, I don't remember where I found it.

Well I'm not planning on actually doing this, however since you say you like the pose but not the image style for the second picture, here's the same pose, full form with a slightly different style for whoever does the set, provided you like this one better: Picture It's still very similar though but without the blue coloring. Now I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experiences from growing up where liking anime resulted in ridicule and harassment and to a certain degree isolation from one's peers. I've run into it many times over the years, perhaps most notably when my parents first moved to Utah when I was fifteen. I've told this story before since it's part of why I chose my user name. But that's for another thread. Anyway... When I was in High School I made the mistake of bringing some Sailor Moon manga to class. I say mistake because if I had known what would happen, I would have never brought them with me to school. As a result one of my teachers saw it and assumed it was porn without bothering to read it and took me to the principal’s office where I got a huge lecture and then they took me outside and literally burned my books on the spot. At the time I had two with me. My parents tried to complain to the authorities but the principal and teacher both lied and claimed they gave me the books back and that if anyone had burned them I must have done it myself. Needless to say the authorities believed the adults and not some out of state High School kid (since we had just moved to the state) who wasn’t a member of the dominant religion in the area. No offense to religion in general here, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has run into people who use religion to justify such an act. Later, and by later I'm talking after I had graduated from High School, anyway, since I don't blame the actions of a few on an entire religion I also joined some online anime forums run by the dominant religion where I lived thinking it would be a good way to get to know the people of the area. After all I figured there had to be someone who wasn't as ill informed and stupid as my teacher was. It turned out to be nothing more than a way for the parents to strictly regulate and control what their children were watching in regards to anime. Since I am a fan of yaoi and yuri series the moment I mentioned a few I was immediately flamed by other members, It reached the point where I finally closed my account and looked around for another forum to join as I was tired of getting close to 100 + messages a month. I lost count of the religious subscriptions I was anonymously signed up to by other members of the forum. Needless to say I was not interested in the nonsense being sent my way. And by nonsense, I mean that quite literally, I got stuff in the snail mail as well, the people who ran the forums knew where I lived. My father had to take legal action against the owners of the forums to put an end to it. So in the end, even though I still enjoy anime I did have times were being an anime fan resulted in a level of isolation. So my question to all of you is what have you experienced? I'm sure I'm not the only one to have been isolated on some level from others who either don't or won't understand anime.

No more than anyone else I'm sure. I'm finishing up my last two classes for my Bachelor's Degree, which leaves me with a lot of free time since all the main work is done. I start the Doctorate program next month, which surprisingly won't be as busy as I initially thought it would. My volunteer work only runs about ten hours a week so I've had a lot of time for video games and other fun side stuff that usually I'm too busy to do. In the end, between school, doing the volunteer work and goofing off, my life right now is very relaxing. Once school starts again in about 3-4 weeks that will change, but I'm sure it will still be interesting, even if on the busy side. And since I enjoy what I'm doing in school I'm looking forward to it.

Virgins! You're Either Really Smart or Really Dumb
Horendithas replied to AzureWolf's topic in General Discussion
One can be smart and still have plenty of sex. Perhaps it's true that we don't sleep around as much as others do, but then again, that ties in with being smart. We don't sleep with just any guy. lol Still you gotta laugh over that report and wonder just how accurate it really is. Besides I'm with Gavin, if having sex made one dumber, I would have stayed a virgin. And yes I know that's not what it meant. lol -
Heh, even if you do know what's going to happen Aaryanna, it's still fun to see how the other person writes it up. But then I have an advantage, I worked with SunfallE on this for months before she put the thread up in the Adventure Inn, so even though she's thrown in a few things I didn't know about, like that fight between Jason and the researchers, most of it I already did. Its still been fun just the same. Though it has been nice to have those unexpected things added in like the battle between the two Elite Specialists. Also, that bit that is enough to cause Civil War, don't bet on it being related to the undisclosed project in sector fourteen. SunfallE is being very quiet about that even to me so I'm thinking she just might have something else in mind altogether. And that has me supremely curious. To see if it's that hidden project or something else altogether.

Feh! Naturally Jared's always going to be having fun when there's an interrogation involved. Though I loved how he was tormenting Blaine with the knowledge that he was no better. I rather liked it that he was in it again, especially after Aaryanna_Mom and I went to such lengths to turn him into a mean little shit. lol
But of course, Jared enjoys making scum like Blaine suffer. lol And even though his character does like Kerstin, it will be interesting once he realizes what she knows and didn't reveal. As for how interesting that gets. You'll just have to wait and see. :p Though seeing that you know of one of the possibilities of what will happen... I'm sure you can guess Rachmaninoff what it will be like if I take that route. Though to be honest, I haven't decided on which path I intend to take yet.

So I guess we're just waiting on DB to post the next chapter or something? Because it's been so long it makes me wonder whether he intended to do so immediately or not. (obviously not immediately) I would make another post in the mean-time, but I'm not allowed to double... What's your excuse?
DB hasn't been on since the 28th of last month. And since we are suppose to be going to where Joe's mind was taken, I was assuming that he was going to post indicating that fact. So until DB gets back or if after a while GuyYouMetOnline wants to take over again, we are officially stuck. Which is kind of a pain since I was still enjoying this RP. Still I say we give DB a little longer to show back up since it hasn't been a week yet.

Well I'm glad to see people are receptive to my idea, I was pretty sure I was going to be told to be quiet and slink back into the annals of OB history, yes I'm looking at you Crystia ! :p Anyway, hopefully we won't get too many people demanding that the first title be "n00b Scum" or something along those lines. :animesmil
Ah, but I was not around for that history, when the idea of having titles based on post count existed. It's always been New Member and Member since I've been here. Heh. Seriously though, I don't see a problem with having an event for people to make a list of possible titles due to amount of posts. After all, like Beth said And even with the potential for spamming, it's not like it couldn't be switched back if it became too much of an issue. And she's right about the moderation side of things, dealing with spammy posts is much simpler and easier than it use to be. At this point all we really need is the go ahead from James to put together the wording for the event to be posted. If he's interested in actually implementing said titles once he makes a choice from those presented. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a guideline of how many tiers are possible or rather how many would be used to make it easier to make that final list if you will.

Writing The Challenge: A Survivor Story [PG
Horendithas replied to SunfallE's topic in Creative Works
Heh, I love how Sandy continues to be eeevil, he's really laying down the law in this challenge. lol I can just see him smacking all of you for having a herd mentality instead of going your separate ways to try and evade the authorities. And even though I seem to be silent I do like how I seem to be with Sandy each time he contacts the Survivors. And why am I not surprised that Shy's first instinct was to help Aaryanna_Mom? Getting himself nailed and captured in the process? lol It really does fit since I too can totally see him doing that. Anyway, now that the groups are seperated I'm wondering how that's going to work out. So don't keep us waiting too long. After all Aaryanna still needs to kick BKstyles in the shins. :p -

Yeah I understand all of that. But the main thing I was wondering is because if you find it by random, and we're supposed to say which Clue we used to find it. So if you didn't use one? Would you guess? Or just say you didn't use a clue?
Just explain how you found it, if you didn't use a clue or if you are not certain. At that point, either Aaryanna or I will clarify just which clue it is. So by all means, if you stumble upon one, you can still report it and get credit. If you haven't already found one for the current round that is.

If only Gavin had not gotten free so quickly! Crystia thought to herself as they guardedly continued for civilization, still keeping an eye out for Gavin who had yet to show himself again. With two of their party now injured their speed was greatly reduced and worse yet agent Fluff was positive that she heard something that the others did not. Where is he? Why hasn't he shown himself again? It was not like Gavin to back down. He's up to something, Crystia thought to herself, but the question was, what? It was even more nerve wracking than engaging in battle, waiting for that moment when your opponent did strike. Dammit! What are you up to Gavin! As if to answer that thought, before they had taken more than a few steps bands of darkness shot out from the darkness as spoiler tags were strewn all over the area, blanketing everything in darkness. Making it impossible for them to see each other. "Careful everyone! That had to have come from Gavin!" Fluff's voice rang out. "Keep moving! Try to to find one another!" Crystia called out, and though she found some of the others, if not for their speech she couldn't tell just who they were. "I'm terribly sorry about that." Sanguinius said when he accidentally grabbed Crystia in the wrong spot. Immediately switching to her arm. "Forget it." Crystia said abruptly, "Who else is with you?" "I've got Webster right here." Sanguinius replied. "And Shades though a bit put out is next to me." "Keep moving! Aaryanna and I are heading towards you!" Fluff called out. Crystia could hear Aaryanna growling just off to the right as well as agent Fluff's words of reassurance to her. Thank heaven she's safe. Crystia thought. We need to find her in this darkness before Gavin does. Crystia continued towards civilization and what she thought was agent Fluff's location, not realizing that the darkness was fragmenting their voices, causing them to actually be moving apart instead of towards one another. She and the others did not hear Aaryanna growl and leap out of her mistress's arms to chase after something she heard. Nor Fluff's cries for her to come back as she chased after her. They would not realize that they had been seperated until it was too late.
Heh, that's a very good point Crystia. But if you're usually the first person to respond to my posts, what does that say about you ?
Wow, a lot of you people must really think little of your fathers. Seriously, when you've gone and hugged your mom, go and hug your dad if he's been there for you your entire life, because apparently by the sentiment here, he didn't have to be.
Well I can't speak for the others, but my father, with work and all, was gone most of the time. He was a powerful influence, but not anywhere as much as my mother was and still is. Don't misunderstand me here. I'm talking about the concept that a woman can't have an abortion without the guy having an equal say. Now usually if someone is married usually they do make that decision together, but otherwise? Unless they are close, giving a guy that kind of power is really not very fair in my opinion. However, I deal with a lot of domestic abuse and rape victims, so I hope you'll understand that my view is a bit biased when it comes to this sort of deal. I see far to many guys who for all intents and purposes shouldn't be a part of the woman's life at all. Let alone be a father. -
That's because you haven't been around long enough to [strike]spam[/strike] make enough high quality posts into a four figured post count. And seriously James, you have to tell us what came after "I live here". I don't imagine there would be one after it, as someone would need probably nine-thousand posts to get it, if the old system of doubling the post different between ranks held. "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND !!!" Yes, I had to say it. :animesmil
Not to mention, Rach hasn't figured out how to actually spam either. lol As for me, like SunfallE my title would not change. I'd still be Category Moderator of Entertainment Though if I were not a mod I'd earn the title of Otaku. Though I already have the Otaku Legend title over at myOtaku. As for you Gavin... I already know you have No Life. :p Don't need a title system based on posts to tell me that. [I kid]
-
Well I think it's safe to say that everyone is more for the choice Aaryanna_Mom spoiler tagged. lol I know that I am. But then that's because I'd enjoy working out all the objectives with you on that SunfallE instead of the simple chapters you have right now. Full scale war would be fun to do in my opinion. And it would make for a great sequel since freeing the lesser races at this point would just feel unnatural. The shockers just aren't big enough for them to really consider such an option. It's going to be hard enough to get Versilans to even accept the change in regards to separating families. Since for the most part the average Versilan doesn't give those of the lesser race a second thought. Anyway... regardless of how that goes, it's still going to be fun to finish wrapping things up. After all we still have some fun objectives to deal with. Though just who that is fun for depends on the character. Heh.

So there you go. More reasons to hug your mom more often. ;)
Quoted for truth. Seriously though The13thMan, once a guy has gotten a woman pregnant, all cries of I should have a say as to whether she can abort it or not are on many levels pointless and unrealistic. There is no getting around what Sirius just explained. In the end, she is the one who goes through everything involved. About the only good thing about being pregnant and it's a small thing really, is that they don't have to deal with that time of the month. Though what they just got in a trade off is a lot more demanding. Potential life or not, her risk, her choice. And I hope your statement about a woman being hormonal and seeing straight isn't what you really think or that I'm misunderstanding you. Since there's nothing wrong with not wanting a child. Plenty of women, in spite of precautions end up pregnant when they didn't want to. And to see differently than the father is not an issue of being hormonal or not seeing straight. Honestly that's utter BS. Not wanting a baby, even in a healthy relationship is often an option used by couples in planned parenthood. Also, SunfallE is right DeathKnight, Rat Boy is 2007DigitalBoy. lol So yes you have been a jerk to the wrong person. :p -
Jared couldn't help but smile as he headed though the corridors of the Creator for the interrogation chamber. The claim that the remaining four factions held a secret great enough to cause Civil War did not concern him. Nor did the change that allowed Sandra to return to duty instead of being executed like her father had been. In the end he really didn't care. He had learned long ago that on some level he had little to no control over how things were done and considering that Sandra had been all of five years old at the time of her grandmother's death he was certain that she knew nothing of it. As for the threat of Civil War, either it happened or it didn't, he'd worry about it when and if it did. Right now his concern was the interrogations being conducted. For now Stevens was handling the ones with the leaders for the four factions of the High Council while he was dealing with the one regarding Blaine Uratak. It wasn't too difficult, for all his pretense and claim to power, strip those away and Blaine was a coward. Once he had grasped the fact that Jared could and would torture him for the information he required, Blaine couldn't talk fast enough. Then, there was the matter of Kerstin. As a trained interrogator he couldn't help but notice that her behavior had suddenly and drastically changed. It was more than the effect of having been subjected to what Blaine did to her and Daniel. Of that Jared was positive, and if he wasn't so busy he would have taken the time to figure it out. People did not suddenly start avoiding someone else without a good reason. There was nothing he had done recently that should have caused that sort of reaction. For now he would ignore it, but later? He would find out just what had her so afraid of him. Especially since he hadn't done anything to warrant such a reaction from her. Jared smiled to himself as he finally reached the interrogation chamber, the doors opening up automatically upon his arrival. He entered to find Blaine already fastened to the chair in the center of the room with two security personal standing guard. With a nod he sent them just outside the room, this time not bothering to take a seat at the controls for the powerful disruptor's, but rather on the front of the small unit facing Blaine. A sly grin on his face. It was almost time to hand Blaine over for execution and watching Blaine's attempt to find something to bargain with to save himself from that fate was rather amusing. But other than a few tiny details, they were done and after today he would be sent to the Council Center for Execution. Blaine's expression was a mixture of fear, defiance and resignation. "I don't know why you're continuing with this Commander." He finally snapped. "After all you've already gotten what you wanted as well as ignoring my warning in regards to Daniel Timbers." "True," Jared said with a sly smile. "And it's really a pity that you choose to cooperate. You've taken all the fun out of this interrogation." Jared smiled even more as Blaine struggled to not respond to that comment and failed. "I know perfectly well what your idea of fun is Commander." Blaine said between gritted teeth. "I'd rather slit my own throat first." "How disappointing," Jared said with a laugh, "After all, your idea of fun isn't much different. Don't think I don't know that you enjoy being part of that education process you put your guests through." He got up and walked over until he was looking straight down at Blaine, noting how he shivered just a tiny bit. "I know perfectly well what you would have done to Kerstin had we not interfered. So don't give me any bullshit about fun Blaine. In a way you're lucky, had you touched Kerstin in that manner, guilty or not I would have torn you to pieces." Jared said coldly, staring Blaine down until he gave in and looked away. He went back to the terminal and sitting on the edge facing Blaine. "Now since you're so convinced that Daniel Timbers is not who he claims he is, we are going to finish this with you telling me everything that happened in detail. And remember we've secured the records from where you were hiding so I'll know if you're lying." Jared paused for a moment to get more comfortable, "Remember, what you say will influence whether your execution is swift and painless or an example for others who would be so foolish." He smiled viciously , "By all means, be a fool, I'd love nothing better than to torture you to death myself." Jared waited patiently for Blaine to begin, taking note of certain observations he made as well as asking questions when clarification was required. It took a while but several hours later Blaine was finally done. Jared reached back and pressed the button to summon the security. When they came back in he ordered them to toss Blaine back into his cell. Then after taking a moment to make notes on his hand held computer he finally left the interrogation chamber and headed for the bridge. Now that he was done with Blaine he could look into what was upsetting Kerstin so much.
