Just think of the fun Stevens could have harassing Jared! :animeblus I'm already getting all sorts of ideas. XD
Now there's an interesting thought, especially since I've had some ideas of my own. Though they probably aren't what you were thinking.
I wanna pull the strings, I wanna! I wanna! :p
SunfallE, you should let her, because I for one want to see what the devious mind that helped write the horror story Hopeless comes up with. If you don't let her I'll have to... [/end of empty threat]

Oh, dear, sweet god I could have reched through the computer abd smacked you in the face after readin that first post. //snip// Who are the freaks I've met? Who scares me? All of the people like you.
Perhaps you should re-read the first post before you attempt to smack someone. I've bolded the parts that are relevant.
After a while I noticed that nobody talked to this guy. Here is the scary part why. He has this list of people he wants dead! Yeah it scared me to the first time I saw it too. Then one day he tells me he likes me. Now I'm scared out of my wits. I was like backing away, but guys this is before I got to know him and he ended up being this really nice guy. To get to the point I'm asking you if you have had a similar experience or if you met someone who has scared you beyond belief. If have tell how happened or if you and that person actually became friends. :animesmil
You seemed to have missed the part where they were saying that it scared them that a guy who had a list of people they wanted dead was saying they liked them. Be honest here 2007DigitalBoy if you saw a list like that especially with all the nonsense going on these days, I would imagine you too might be startled or even frightened by it until you got to know them. But more importantly, lets do away with telling other members that they are freaks when there is no need for it. That was completely uncalled for.

o_O It?s a good thing you?re not controlling all the villains in the story Crystia or we would be so screwed. :p Good grief, your characters are such psychotic bastards. I?m beginning to wonder if anyone in the resistance will survive the Empire?s psycho agents.
Stevens isn't really my character. I may control him at times, but ultimately SunfallE gives me the outline of what he is like and I try to mold my post around that. Though I will admit the part about the pictures and the separating families was my own idea. My instructions were to make him a bit ruthless and that was how I decided to do so. And given a chance I've other ideas to use with Stevens depending on how the story progresses. If you thought Jared was a psycho, just wait until Stevens gets started.
If SunfallE lets me do what I have in mind that is.
:p

Sena didn?t have to wait long for the ferry, in fact it seemed as if they were impatient to get going. In no time at all they were first taken to the island and then once again limos were waiting to take them to the actual mansion, a huge massive complex with a rather simple yet large fountain in its center at the entrance where the limo pulled up to let him out. A number of the other guests were already chatting with one another and once he had his things the servant reminded him to wait out side for when the master would let them in. Sena merely raised an eyebrow at this statement. Took his things and instead of joining the conversation he walked out to where a young girl was sitting on a rock near the pathway leading to the entrance. Normally he would rather chat with the others but the change in climate along with the elevation had him feeling almost like something was smothering him. He was too use to the thinner desert air and though it was pleasant the heavy sea air was stifling. He had slept on the plane but not only was he still a little tired but now he was beginning to think it had been a mistake to have something to drink as he felt a little light headed as well. The slender young girl with curly, shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes watched him warily as he approached her. Sena smiled disarmingly as he took a seat on another rock close to her and yet not so close as to intrude. ?I hope you don?t mind miss but I find I am in need of a spot to relax after the long trip, and the spot you have chosen here is far enough from the mansion that one can relax a little and yet not so far that you will miss out on when we will be allowed in.? He paused to watch her reaction but she did not respond. ?I?m sorry, where are my manners? My name is Sena Walker. And if you really wish to be alone simply say so and I will find another spot.? He finished with a smile. The young woman finally returned his smile with a small one of her own, ?My name is Wendy Fayworth, and you can certainly stay if you wish, I do not mind if you want to rest here.? She looked away from Sena and back towards the mansion where the others were mingling. ?Thank you Wendy. As much as I enjoy meeting others I did not feel like talking to the rest of the group after such a long and tiring trip.? She turned back look at him and smiled again. ?Believe me, I understand what you mean.? Sena smiled once again and then propped up his small luggage case on the rock behind him and leaned back into it before closing his eyes to calm the dizzy and lightheadedness he was feeling. Somehow he got the feeling that she really didn?t mind that he wasn?t up to conversing with her.

Jared watched with amusement as Stevens stripped the Commodore of his command and had him escorted out of the observation room. Regardless if the Commodore had been correct or wrong, his actions in regards to Kim were clear. He should have known better, and years of sloppy command habits had finally caught up with him. The only question in Jared?s mind was what Stevens had in mind and just how Sandra was going to react to it. She had made no secret of the fact that she held him in disdain, ever since the High Council had announced her position as a candidate and betrothed her to Stevens. Even if it was but a formality, she had been swift to let the Council know that she did not approve. Stevens had always been rather flamboyant and quite the flirt, something that Jared knew Sandra did not approve of. Or rather that she found it distasteful to be matched up with one who enjoyed meddling in other?s love lives, both male and female alike. Stevens was anything but discreet. And on some level Jared didn?t understand her objection. With genetics she could fulfill her part of the family duty in providing a child for the families without ever touching Stevens. She did not even have to carry the child herself. Nor was she forbidden to have her own lovers. The politics surrounding such affairs was common knowledge among the people. Sandra?s objection was personal and even Jared knew that if she was not careful she too would be cast aside for someone who was more suitable. As he watched Sandra, noting her barely concealed anger he wondered if she realized just how precarious her position really was. He turned back to Stevens when he spoke again. ?Good now that the Commodore has been taken care of we can get down to business. First of all I need you to report here at 0700 hours tomorrow morning Commander Crystal I intend to get started on Kim?s briefing at that time. The rest of this doesn?t really concern you but if you wish to stick around you may.? Crystal stood up and shook her head. ?If it doesn?t concern me then I can find better things to do with my time. Until tomorrow Stevens.? She nodded briefly and then left. Stevens waited until she had left to continue. ?Very well, I?ll start with the most important change. Now that the Commodore has been dealt with I need someone to take command of the Creator. And I have decided to hand that task over to you Sandra, effective immediately you are to transfer over and take command of the Creator as their new Commodore.? He paused and then continued with a hint of irony in his voice, ?And since I know how much you adore your beautiful Sub-Commander Jared, he will transfer with you to serve as your second in command. Far be it from me to separate you from those you actually do enjoy working with my dear.? He smiled at the change in Sandra?s expression and continued before she could speak, ?And since I understand that Jared?s preference does not coincide with yours dear Sandra, he may take that pretty little shipping expert with him as well. After all the guest quarters on the Creator are empty and I do want everyone to be happy in their new positions. I?ve already advised this Darren to be ready to move when the two of you return and I?ve already informed the second in command of the Creator that he will be taking over as the new Commander of the Crimson.? Jared winced when Stevens was finished, promotion or not, Sandra was furious, he could see the effort it was taking her to simply sit there and say nothing. Though if he were to make a guess, the fact that she had been left out of the loop about Stevens being promoted to the new Fleet Admiral was what really had her upset. Something her own father, a member of the High Council would have known about, someone did not get promoted to Fleet Admiral without the Council approving it. It took her a moment but then Sandra finally spoke, ?You?re too kind Stevens.? She said with barely concealed fury. ?Is there anything else I need to know before I move to the Creator?? Stevens smiled and pulled up a map showing the plants near Earth. ?As a matter of fact there is. As you already know the resistance is working with other factions outside of sector thirteen. The Creator tried on many occasions to hack into their communications but failed. It is my belief that they are bouncing the transmission from different locations through this sector to fragment the data and thus make it harder for us to decode what they have sent. I intend to put a stop to that.? He highlighted several of the planets besides Earth. ?Based on the preliminary data done by my own computer specialists, they would need to have relays on at least three of the other planets here for such a system to work, but the data the Elite Specialist sent me indicates that even the Conqueror, the most advanced flagship in the fleet lacks the necessary equipment to detect the relays. Even though they have given me the data as to where the grade B sensor equipment is, they do not show up on our scanners.? Stevens paused as he pulled up yet another display showing all the planets and moons where the relays could have been installed in the system. ?As soon as the Elite Specialist finishes destroying the safe houses they located in Australia I intend to send them to find and destroy the relay points. Even with the equipment onboard the Catalyst they will need to actually be in orbit around the planet or moon in question to detect it. Once they have done so they will destroy them. This will take priority even over finding the other two bases as I am convinced that we have a traitor much higher up than Sub-Commander Kimberly or Commander Daniel. I intend to lure them out and catch them and right now the best way to do that is to take away their ability to send more secure transmissions.? Sandra spoke, ?And what are my orders?? ?Simple, once the safe houses are destroyed you are to finish securing Australia, I also want you to post these pictures of Sara, Jason and Celestia on every network on Earth. I want every available member looking for them.? He pulled up wanted pictures of each individual. ?I?m sure that they are safely hiding in one of the remaining bases and that no human would turn them in, but I intend to up the stakes. For starters, if one of Earth?s governments hands one of them over to us I will give them the right to request any citizen of their country who was taken to one of the other worlds to be returned. Families that were separated in the confusion will be reunited with their loved ones. And I will follow through on that promise. I?ve already had the troops deliberately separating families at random so I can reward individuals who come forward with accurate information.? He smiled. ?Its time we started playing on their own fears to flush out those who would oppose us. Now unless the two of you have questions I suggest you head back to the Crimson and move to your new quarters. I have my own work to do. Dismissed.? Jared got up and followed Sandra to the shuttle. He could tell that she was still angry and he kept his mouth shut. Hopefully she would calm down because even if Stevens annoyed her, they had a lot of work to take care of. Stevens watched them leave and then sent yet another message to the Catalyst. Letting them know of their mission update. The data indicated that there was at least five different relays and that they needed to destroy three of them, all five if possible. And at the very end he tagged on a note to the effect that scanning Mars was not necessary. He sent it off and then left to go to his own quarters. It would take the specialist a couple of weeks and delay the hunt for the other bases, but in the end he felt that the payoff in disabling their ability to scramble deep space transmissions would be worth it.
I was wondering if I could add another character to the story since we're allowed to play two characters.
Now this should be interesting. Will Jared be given a new target? Or perhaps a new ally? Only time will tell. Though I'm going to assume the new character is with the resistance in which case the question for Jared becomes one of is it a guy or a girl? Because in the end, that's all he would really care about. ;)
Evil Laughter
As for my new objective, this is going to be fun. At least for Jared it will.

It had been a long but productive day. Jared dropped Darren off at his quarters and then joined Sandra in hers to report on how things were coming along. He had barely entered when Sandra indicated he should take a seat on one of the sofas as she was already resting in one of the chairs sipping on a drink while reading something on her handheld computer. ?Ah Jared,? she started once he had sat down. ?I have good news. Not only has the Elite Specialist located and destroyed one of the resistance?s bases, she captured Kimberly Spencer as well.? Jared raised an eyebrow in surprise. That was certainly quick. He had expected it to take much longer to find them let alone destroy one of their bases. Ryan had been good, but it seemed that this Kiva was far better. Sandra put her handheld down and looked directly at Jared when he did not respond. ?In addition to that the Conqueror will be arriving in just under two days to oversee her interrogation. Kim was on the Creator, but at Crystal?s order she was moved to the Tempest. It seems that the Commodore is turning out to be unreliable in certain areas,? Sandra paused and then continued. ?I have already informed my father since that fool allowed his men to beat on Kim, she was not seriously hurt, but that sort of short sightedness simply cannot be ignored. He is lucky nothing happened to her or else he would be facing execution. It?s pointless to capture resistance members if they are killed before they can be questioned.? Jared laughed, ?He really is a fool if he thought nothing would happen. I take it he is going to be dealt with?? Sandra nodded. ?He is, I?ve been arguing with the High Council on this and they agree, we?ve been looking the other way far to long when it comes to this type of behavior. We simply cannot afford to be so reckless. I intend to make an example of him to remind the others that no one is above reproach. Once the Conqueror arrives he will be stripped of his command and sent back to sector one. And if he doesn?t like his new desk job and handling paper work, he deserves what ever fate the Council decides to give him.? ?Is there anything you need me to do about this Sandra?? She shook her head no. ?No, everything has been taken care of already. You are to continue working with Darren and overseeing the progress of humans being transported off of Earth. Things are going well, but in the area?s we have yet to establish a presence, things are out of control. I want you to start putting out the fires so to speak, except for the Middle East.? Sandra smiled with amusement. ?Ever since we destroyed their oil fields they?ve been rather busy fighting among themselves so I see no reason to stop them from saving us the trouble of putting them out of their misery.? ?It?s a pity that they turned out to be unsuitable, but still considering how many people there are here, it won?t make a difference. There is more than enough elsewhere on Earth to take care of things.? Jared replied. ?Exactly, and I see no reason to waste my time with them.? Sandra paused and tossed a data chip to Jared. ?The rest of the details are on there. If you have any questions just let me know.? Jared recognized a dismissal when he heard one. He took the chip and bade Sandra good night before heading to his own quarters to turn in.

It didn?t take long for the days to pass before right on schedule a small limo pulled up in front of his residence in Salt Lake City to take Sena to the airport. He was already waiting with a small carry on case along with a small sum of cash and his passport and anything else he would need. Surprisingly he didn?t have that much to take with him, probably the only exception being his small laptop since he never went anywhere without one. After confirming that he was indeed Sena the limo driver handed him an envelope that once he was inside and the driver was on his way, he opened it up to find first class tickets to Australia. Along with brief instructions to the effect that Dante Lui?ci would have someone waiting in Australia at the airport to take him to his mansion. It ended with a warm sentiment along the lines of thanking him for accepting the invitation. Sena kept the ticket out and put the envelope in his bag with his other things. He had thought to perhaps question the driver, but it was obvious to him now that he was nothing more than a hired service paid to pick him up. He would have to wait until he got to Australia. It had been a long time since he had flown anywhere and the plane ride was uneventful, there was no one to really talk to but he did not care, he merely pulled out his laptop and worked on projects he had in mind for when he started his own business. Something that if things went well at the mansion would be a reality once he had the financing to back things up. He smiled to himself when the plane finally landed in Australia; things were going right for a change. He gathered his things and exited the plane and as promised the limo to take him to the mansion was waiting for him. A large black man dressed in a white suit courteously opened the door for him and then once he was situated he got in and began drive him through the city. Sena tried to question him but other than to explain that it would take three hours to get to the coast and then another hour by ferry to reach the island, he would say no more. Indicating that he would need to speak to his master. With a sigh Sena dropped the subject and instead immersed himself in paying attention to the surroundings as he had never been to Australia before, but in no time he was bored and he turned instead to the inside of the limo to fix himself something to drink as it was obvious no expense had been spared. He had just enough to help himself relax but not enough to interfere with his ability to think. It would reflect poorly on him if he were to arrive drunk. Then finally they arrived at what had to be the dock where they would board the ferry. Some of the others had already arrived after all as it had said in the e-mail he would not be the only one there. He got out of the limo when the driver stopped and then opened the door for him. He nodded absently mindedly when the driver told him to wait. He was already checking out the others who had arrived. Curious as to why they too had been chosen.

Writing Book research: Can it help? [PG13 related material]
Horendithas replied to Aberinkula's topic in Creative Works

Take J.R.R. Tolkien, I positively hate their books. The writing style drives me up the wall. I enjoyed the movies made from them but to read the books? [shudder] No offense to those of you who do like Tolkien.

You wound me.
Hmm...It seems that I will be doing the same since I dislike Tolkien for probably the same reason SunfallE does. The way he goes back and forth from plain English through archaisms to poetic prose annoys the hell out of me as well. And for someone looking to improve their writing, something like that is bound to be more confusing than helpful. So I'll simply echo what SunfallE said. Shop around so to speak and don't get discouraged if a series you are reading is either boring or difficult to follow. Toss it aside and look at something else. I know that for myself, it's rare for me to like a romance novel and for the most part I avoid them. So don't feel like you have to force yourself to read something. Another good author would be Terry Brooks, not his Sword of Shannara series but the one Magic Kingdom for sale: Sold. Though you might enjoy the Shannara series even if it is a bit overly excessive on descriptions instead of action between the characters. Either way, don't give up because some form of practice is better than none. ;) -

Yes Another Shooting [Not In A School]
Horendithas replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion

And most importantly the whole reason for this thread, who else has had something happen like this, close to where they live? And what do you think about the trend of this type of walk in random shooting type of violence?
Well I can now officially say that for a walk in random shooting this is by far the closest one to where I live. Literally. I live with walking distance of Trolley Square. And since my stop to get off the Trax from the university is the one only a block from it, I tend to stop in at the mall several times a week. Including yesterday, though I left for home more than an hour and a half before the shooter showed up. And I can honestly say it?s a very uncomfortable feeling to even think about it.
Me I don?t know what to think as it just disgusts me as I can?t even fathom a reason as to why someone would kill others especially when they probably didn?t know a single one of the people they shot.
As sad as it is, usually it is attributed to some sort of mental break down. Also things like Sandy mentioned are a problem like Poverty, unemployment, poor social care, etc. And those who come from abusive families as well will often snap. One of the best ways to combat something like this is some form of pre-emptive work to help as many as you can like Sandy mentioned.
I honestly believe that if the US government would've put all that money that went to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars into social- and health care, there would be so much less internal problems over there. But that's another issue of debate, and I wouldn't want to go there in this thread. My heart goes out to the loved ones of those who died - including those of the killer.
It?s a nice sentiment Sandy, but not to be mean. I honestly believe that if the US government didn?t waste that money on Iraq and Afghanistan, I can pretty much guarantee you that they would have found something else to waste it on. It disgusts me but health and social care is practically on the bottom rung when it comes to funding around here.
I say all this because I think some gun laws could have prevented a few of these shootings. But like the others have mentioned, preventing a person from getting to that stage in the first place would probably be the better solution, and would benefit everyone overall.
I think stricter gun laws would help too but like the health and social care, you?d think it was the end of the world that someone might restrict their right to have a gun. Or in the case of the companies be required to provide good health care for their employees. They?ve been arguing over the law that won?t allow guns on campus here since those with a concealed weapons permit think they should be allowed to bring one on campus. But like the social and health care that?s another topic altogether. As for this whole incident I have mixed feelings. I?m relieved that I was not there when it started and at the same time I feel bad for those who were hurt and killed. It certainly creeped me out to get home and find out what had happened though. -
Sandra had been dealing with the former president of the US ever since they had taken over. And though he was suitable for being a liaison, it didn?t make dealing with him any less annoying. He was stupid, foolish and power-hungry to the point that he would run the common person into ruin without any thought as to how it would affect the big picture. Ironically that stupidity made him perfect as he would always been seeking to do things to his own advantage instead of that of his people. And in time his own people would demand that someone else replace him. Though by then Versilan rule would be firmly established. She wondered if any of the liaisons?s realized that they were chosen because of how stupid they were. Once that was done, she closed the transmission with the president and opened up the reports from the other day that she had not had the time to get to. Sandra knew about what Crystal had done, but until she read it she had not realized what a fool the Commodore was in that respect. She made a note to speak to her father about that one. That sort of thing among slaves needed to be stamped out immediately as it ended up hurting productivity in the end. Something they could not afford. The whole incident kind of reminded her of her days as a cadet, since though such activities were not allowed among the lesser races, it was not as strictly regulated among her own people and she remembered all to well how a number of military Commanders had tastes that ran to taking children against their will. She had always been protected. But others had not and she remembered Jared?s circumstances quite well as it was one of the first times she had been exposed to such things. Sandra clearly remembered the time when Commander Alan had adopted Jared. She too was still a cadet and had yet to be assigned to a ship. She remembered it because being a daughter of one of the High Council she was very active and involved in politics. And it was well known among the higher ups just what Commander Alan liked to do in his spare time. At first she had wondered as to why such a thing was allowed. But then as she grew older, she began to see why most of the time nothing was done about it. Unless the behavior was detrimental to their job or interfered with other aspects of how the Empire was run. Her father along with other members of the High Council had long ago learned that by allowing a certain amount of excess they got more ruthless and more determined people to serve under them. It was a fine line to walk as she remembered her father telling her once. But it was a sure way to power if you had the wits and understanding to use it to your advantage. And if they were to continue their conquest of other races, there was no room for the squeamish or softhearted people. In the years that followed, Sandra watched Jared after he had been adopted, at first he was hopeful and then he was resigned, and then just as her father had predicted some would do, he became driven. Surprisingly, Commander Alan didn?t seem to realize it. In fact Sandra began to wonder if she was just imagining things until the day Jared tortured and killed Commander Alan. She clearly remembered overhearing her father talking about it with one of the other members of the High Council. Her father knew she was listening the other did not. Apparently they had been watching the change in Jared, and when he took the initiative that he did, he caught their attention. Like so many before him, they would watch him and so long as he was useful they would even support him. After all they had no use for those who could not put their duty before their desires. After that incident it was quite some time before Sandra heard about Jared again. She had just gotten her fist command when she got wind of what Jared liked to do to amuse himself. Unlike Alan he never left a potential threat alive once he was done with them. And unlike Alan he was far more though and dedicated to his job. Even to the point that he would go months without amusing himself in any way. Something Alan had never had the self-control to do. And unlike Alan, Jared would not touch a child. Even to gain information from a resistance member. It was something he simply would not do. So when she also got wind that others were trying to get him dismissed she carefully followed what was happening and when the time came she snatched Jared up for herself and promoted him to her second in command. The fools who had tried to have him removed she had executed for trying to incite a mutiny since his personal life was in her opinion not connected to his military abilities. Sandra smiled, no recruiting Jared had been one of the best moves she had made as a commander as he worked harder than several officers altogether. His only flaw as far as she was concerned was that he seemed to only care for men. He was after all quite beautiful. Still end the end even that did not matter, even if he had not been pretty, she would have still recruited him as it would have been foolish to allow someone of his skill to be dismissed. Surprised at where her train of thought had gone, she pulled it back to the report she was supposed to be reading. Unfortunately, she had quite a bit of work to take care of.

You might want to explain what size you'd like it to be: For example do you plan on using it here at OB or elsewhere? It's a good idea to also include any other details you are looking for like any words or sayings you want on it. Lastly you might want to re-host your image as it's not working at the moment.

Before we turn this into a pointless spat over people putting words into other people?s mouths and calling other?s bitchy?I?m more than willing to admit I may have misunderstood your intent with your opening post DaSilva as I got the impression that your friends were giving you a hard time because you have said something along the lines of ?I could care less that your friend died.? When they have just lost someone they care for. So as Aaryanna said:
So if you want to clear that up DaSilva, by all means do. Is this just a general conversation, or one that happened when one of your friends was currently mourning? That makes all the difference in the world as to how it might be taken as far as being heartless goes.
Please do clear that up because if you did say something like that then you are heartless, but if it was just a simple conversation or rather observation, then I take it back since I agree. I feel bad when people I know lose someone they love, but I don?t share the feelings of loss that they do as I never knew the person in question.

Jared smiled as he read the report on how Crystal had pulled rank on the Commodore, especially since he agreed with her completely. Just because he enjoyed doing as he pleased with others didn?t mean he wasn?t smart or didn?t have things that even he would not do. Those who would sexually assault and kill children were scum and he was pleased to see that Crystal had made sure each and every one of them had been executed for their crimes. Jared liked having his way with other men, but he found the idea of taking children distasteful. Something that probably had to do with his own upbringing, memories that though they were no longer painful, he didn?t like to think about. It had started when he had barely turned twelve?
If there was one thing Jared had learned since Commander Alan had adopted him, it was that the powerful got what they wanted. That day was something he would never forget. He was twelve and due to a skirmish between the military and the resistance, his parents had both perished. Jared had been at the capital as his parents had elected to have him start his military training. Something that children whose parents were in the military were allowed to do at twelve instead of waiting for the required sixteen limit. He had barely been at military school for a week when the news of his parents? death reached him. Usually such an incident would have resulted in him becoming a ward of the empire, but instead Commander Alan had immediately adopted him. Jared had been pleased by the adoption, but didn?t understand the strange looks other officers gave him. Surely it was an honor to be taken in by a commanding officer? Or so he had thought. It was later that day when his things had been moved to the commander?s quarters when he found out just what the strange looks had been for. At first he had been surprised that there wasn?t a separate bedroom for him. But that confusion didn?t last long. For Alan had a thing for little boys and a scrawny twelve year old was no match for a battle-trained commander. He would never forget what happened that night, the beatings, being raped and tortured, it was just the beginning of a long cycle of abuse. At first Jared cried, but then when he realized that Alan got pleasure from his tears, he became silent. And when no one was willing to help him, he began to plan. All it would take was a single moment and he would end it all. He began to live for that day, pushing and training as hard as he could. When the chance came, he would be ready. Even today, he still remembered the day he got his chance. The look of terror on Alan?s face when he realized that it was Jared, who had the upper hand, was a moment he would cherish forever. For one thing, he was far smarter than Alan ever was. Once he had his fill of torturing him he had then tossed him from the balcony of their apartment. And even then he had the enjoyment of listening to him scream and then the crunch of bones as his skull shattered on impact. Alan had always loved sitting on the balcony that overlooked the military grounds. Once Jared had realized that he did it to look for potential playthings, he had decided to toss him from the same balcony. Especially when Alan had gloated to him in the beginning that it was from there that he had first seen Jared. Ironically Jared had expected to be arrested and executed for what he did. But instead it was classified as an accident and the matter closed. It wasn?t until later that he learned why he had not been arrested and executed...
Jared went back to the reports he had been working on, irritated with himself for even thinking about Commander Alan. He was different, sure he would torture and rape others, but even then he had always been careful to only select targets that were already in trouble with the law. In his opinion, if you were stupid enough to sell drugs or to steal, you deserved what you got. And he enjoyed making sure they fully regretted what they had done. There was something satisfying about watching them slowly crumble as they realized that there was nothing they could do to stop him. Jared closed the report and pulled up the one on Darren?s progress in regards to setting up transportation in Denver. A quick look was all that was needed for him to see that Darren was as efficient as always. Tomorrow he would go down to the office he was setting up to check on things. Even if the High Council had given him a bit of freedom and leeway, Jared was still required to keep a close eye on him.

Mwahahahahaha! *cough, gasp wheeze* Opps! I'm not Jared. Bummer! Hehehe!
You should start a second character, then you could play a villian too. ;)
?You Kim, Jason, Celestia and Sara must not fall into the Empire?s hands. Take whatever means required to avoid that, especially if you know those hands will belong to Jared.? William ended the transmission.

It was probably the only reason she tolerated him since for whatever reason he actually liked and respected her. Something that puzzled her since usually her blunt and forward manner irritated people.
Awww...I feel so loved. Poor Jared is just itching to cause some problems. And right now the only one in range is Darren, so beware Rachmaninoff. ;)
kidding

Sure I feel sorry for my friend, but I didn't know the person who died. Why should I care? Thousands (or millions, I dunno) of people die every day that I don't know, and I don't care. Why should this case be any different? My friends see it as me acting heartless, but I see it as being realistic. What do you guys think?
How hard is it to simply say I'm sorry you lost your friend, and nothing else? No one expects you to mourn someone you don't know, but to say you could care less that they are dead, just shows a lack of tact and compassion towards your friend. The person who actually is upset and hurt over their death. Is it really that hard to keep your mouth shut? There's absolutely no need to say "I don't know them so why should I care?" It changes nothing and only makes you look like in insensitive jackass. When you said it yourself that you actually do feel sorry for your friend. You?re confusing being realistic with being tactful. You are realistic in that it isn?t necessary to care, but your method of making a point of telling them is not only stupid but also unnecessary. And more importantly why do you feel the need to even make that point? If you really do feel sorry for your friend, why cause them even more pain?

And if people think on a deeper level than "crime = bad, arrest thieves," why it's happening[/i'] will become a more important question than "is it illegal or not".
Lots of people do think deeper about certain types of theft, they try to provide food and charity assistance to those down on their luck so they won't have to face the tough decision of considering stealing to feed their family. ;) Not all thieves are so noble, plenty of them that have been caught had no reason to steal other than they wanted something without paying for it. Shop lifting anyone? Tons of merchandise that is stolen is cd's, dvd's and other small items that have nothing to do with feeding a family. I understand what you are saying Retribution, but there is a lot of crime that has absolutely nothing to do with taking care of oneself or family. They may have bad things going on in their lives, but nothing that warrants stealing from others.

Just to warn all those who have posted I'm a very sick bastard in this rpg...so please dont let that influence what your thoughts of me are...im a very nice and understanding guy. Like i've said, there is an underground up for any questions or comments. [/SIZE']
Well, I've never been a part of one of these rpg's before, but after reading this, now I have to check it out. Name: Sena Walker Jr. Age: 24 Sex: Male Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Appearance: Sena Personality: For the most part Sena is a warm and charming young man, opening up to others quickly as he comes across as genuinely caring about you. He has a natural flair for leadership though his seemingly open and calm personality is really just his way of seeing how he can use anyone to get what he really wants. Control of the powerful and wealthy Walker family, who is well known for their practice of polygamy. He can and does make good close friends and can be quite reliable, so long as they don?t interfere in his pursuit of taking control of his family?s fortune in which case he will drop any association with you as if you had never met. Bio: Sena is living in Salt Lake City, Utah while he attends university to get a degree in computers and eventually start his own company. When he was nineteen, even though he was the eldest son and heir to the legacy of his father, he was kicked out and disowned by the Walker family. It is not an uncommon practice in polygamy communities to kick out the younger men once they become older [not enough women to go around you see] but Sena?s dismissal and disinheritance was a surprise to those who knew of the Walker family as the eldest son often took over when the time was right. Something that had been the case for generations. However, Sena, like his father has a thing for taking pubescent little girls against their will. Unlike his father he was not clever enough to hide it and it was this that resulted in him being kicked out of the community. Something that to this day he does not understand since his own father has done the same thing since he was but a child. Even to the point of taking his own sisters for himself once they were old enough. Something Sena knows for a fact having seen his father do it with his own eyes. Believing himself to be the rightful leader of the Walker polygamy community he is determined to gain the power and influence needed to take back what he believes is his. Even if that means killing his own father. When Sena receives the e-mail he answers yes without hesitation, he has been frustrated by his lack of progress in re-claiming his place in the Walker family, and the e-mail only confirms his belief that he is indeed worthy. As only those who were truly capable of leading would have even received the e-mail in the first place. Without a word to anyone, he packs his things and eagerly awaits the day when he will be escorted to the mansion in question. Greatest Desire: Money, power, and pubescent little girls. Greatest Fear: His father, dolls, especially Barbie dolls as well as cats and small dark places.

Right now it seems like it?s become more of an affiliate instead of part of the same network of sites. Not quite there but definitely leaning that way.
I forgot to address this part of Shy's opening post, but I see the connection between the two in the same way. More like two seperate sites that stand by themselves and yet are connected like affiliates and as such we get tiny benefits such as linking our page with our user account here. Though even that seems to be becoming less used around here. I do have a myO account since I joined that site first, and then at the advise of members here who also have accounts over at myO I came here. And now most of my time is spent here though I still do things over at myO/theO from time to time. Which is why I knew about the current deal with AnimeFF as I usually check theO's main page and Adam's on a regular basis to see what's up.

I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I am attending college. I was delayed in getting my bachelors in Psychology last fall but I'm on track to get it this summer instead. I depend on scholarships to pay for most of my expenses. I also work as a volunteer for the Women?s Crisis Center for victims of domestic violence. Something that I do not get paid for. Once I have my degree I intend to work as a counselor in the same area and also start working on graduate school to eventually become a psychologist. My parents also insist on helping me as they pay my rent for where I live while I attend school. Once I get my first degree hopefully I will qualify to finally get paid for the work I do at my current job. And if not, it's still a great way to get field experiance for when I finally do finish school.

Anyway, that's not the whole point of this thread. This thread is to call into question why someone else hasn't started this thread already. myOtaku.com's community came to aid of Adam almost immediately. Meanwhile, I'm not sure anyone here but Panda or Kei were even aware of the situation.
I just have to laugh Shy since I literally just got through reading the articles over at theOtaku and sending Adam an e-mail with information I thought might help him. ;) And I?ve seen a number of members from here commenting over there so I know they are aware of the situation. Personally I think the whole thing is pretty sad and sick that someone would use the gimmick of claiming they were going to donate the proceeds to charity only to take the money and run. And I can?t imagine that Adam would have posted such things if that were not the case. I?m sure it was easy for him to verify with the breast cancer foundation that they never received the money in question. I sincerely hope that the persons responsible for this are brought to justice. Jared and Sandra were monitoring the progress of the ships as one by one they took over their assigned cities. There was some resistance but surprisingly so far no casualties. Though it helped that the human?s weapons were not capable of penetrating the body armor worn by the ground forces. And those few who did resist were stunned and quickly taken away into the transport ships. ?How long until the transport ships are loaded?? Jared asked Sandra. ?At this rate they?ll be ready to leave within one day, just as the next set of transports arrive.? Sandra replied. Jared pulled up another report being fed to the Crimson, taking a quick look at the numbers. He smiled; it looked like once the equipment the ground troops had was unloaded the transports would have enough room for each one to take around five hundred thousand humans instead of the projected four hundred thousand. ?This should speed things up, it looks like they will be able to accommodate more passengers than we originally estimated.? ?I?ve already informed each sector to where they will be sent to expect more slaves than we originally told them. They should have plenty of time to prepare for their arrival.? Sandra replied. ?That should make things much easier, leaving them on Earth would be a waste of resources and land that can be put to better use. And the other worlds we took over didn?t have anywhere near the population that Earth did. There?s easily enough humans here to send some to every single world and ease the current labor shortage.? Jared observed. ?Correct, which is part of why the High Council agreed to advance the invasion in the first place. The resistance is a problem, but the labor shortage was an even bigger one. I?ve recommended that changes be made, since our dependence on their labor is dangerous. If we aren?t too careful we will end up over reaching ourselves.? Sandra said. ?I?m surprised you got those old fools to listen.? Jared said. ?It wasn?t me, someone else convinced them to move forward.? Sandra replied. ?Commander,? one of the officers spoke. ?I have an incoming message from the Creator.? ?Patch it through to the conference room.? Sandra ordered as she got up to head there. ?Come with me Jared.? Both of them entered the conference room and then opened up the channel on the viewer at the end of the table. ?Commodore,? Sandra said with a nod of her head. ?Commander,? he replied. ?I have a situation that I want you to deal with.? A moment later the view on the screen split to show both the Commodore and a view of a huge army out in what was known as the Middle East of Earth. ?I?ve pulled back the ship in that section for the moment as that many people could possibly overwhelm the ground forces.? Sandra looked at the screen and then pulled up another one at the terminal in the table. She smiled when she realized what she was reading. ?Have you received any messages from that group?? She asked the Commodore. ?We have, something along the lines of declaring a holy war and about us being infidels.? ?I will deal with it Commodore, this is the group I warned about in my report that would cause the most trouble. For now pull everyone out of that section and send them elsewhere. I will try to use tactics to undermine their resolve, if that fails, once the rest of the world has been dealt with, I will destroy them if necessary.? ?Ah, so that?s the one then, I suspect you will have to destroy them no matter what you do, but by all means if you can salvage them the High Council would prefer it.? ?I understand Commodore, leave this to me.? Sandra inclined her head respectfully as the Commodore ended the transmission. ?So those are the religious fanatics you were talking about, you predicted their reaction perfectly Sandra.? Jared observed. ?Its time to show them how meaningless their threats really are.? Sandra got up and went back out to the main bridge, taking her seat and once Jared had taken his she pulled up the chart showing the oil fields that were the key point of so many power struggles down on Earth. She put the view on the main screen along the side. ?Take us down into the atmosphere until we are in enough to avoid damaging the outer layer and above the centermost oil field on the screen.? ?At once Commander.? Sandra turned Jared, ?How much force would be required to pretty much vaporize the oil immediately and yet still leave enough to burn without creating too much pollution?? Jared pulled up a screen of his own and began to make the calculations once the scan of the fields in question had been made. He then programmed the information into the weapon?s system. ?I?ve put the information in Sandra, at your word I can destroy them one by one.? ?Excellent, we have no need of their primitive oil and since their technology is heavily dependant upon it, removing it will make things much easier as the very machines they use to travel will be grounded in no time at all. Later if resistance becomes too much of an issue we will destroy other oil platforms and deposits around the world.? ?We?re in position Commander.? ?Good at my mark, fire and destroy each field with the information provided by Jared.? She gave the signal. In rapid secession each field was taken out. Sandra smiled as she gave the order to return to space. ?It will be interesting to see how committed they are to their holy war once they realize that they have nothing to fight it with. I predict that within a few days they will be at each others throats. If not, they will be the next target.?

A little more information on your manga would make it easier for people to give you a valid response. How about explaining what it?s about and how long it will be? If you are looking at a very lengthy series some people might find buying it in color prohibitive due to the cost. But if you are talking about a short series that?s less than say five volumes they might be more open to getting it in color. Next time when starting a thread you need to put more into the opening post since simply asking a question that does not go beyond a yes I would or no I wouldn?t buy it in color type of answer border on being spam.
