O.o Where will you hide, when the zombies attack?
Horendithas replied to YoukaiAlchemist's topic in General Discussion

I really detest zombies, which is why I rarely watch any show that has a lot of them in it. I don?t even like those creepy things in games, as they all need to just die. So instead of hiding, I?d get my hands on a flamethrower and take those suckers out!
Agreed, I don't really care for them either. I don't even like the re-deads in Zelda. I just hate those things. So I'll join you as two flamethrowers is bound to be more effective. :p -
Keene had had enough. First one girl was brutally killed, murdered if what the girl who had hit the one standing where her head would have been was correct. He felt faint as if he was going to pass out. But then the words of the man who had passed him ran through his mind, If I were you kid, I?d get the hell away from that woman. He fought the nausea and the urge to throw up. First he had to get away from here. He could throw up later. If the woman the other girl had hit wasn?t the killer, then what ever had killed her was still around. Either way, he did not want to find out which it was. In an instant he made up his mind. He turned to leave only to stumble into another woman who was already starting to run towards an opening in the tall hedges. Knocking her to the ground. Other than a startled look at him, she got up and continued running. Keene ran as fast as he could to keep up with her since even though he wanted to leave the gruesome death behind him, he still didn?t want to be alone. It seemed like they had run for an eternity through the various twists and turns of the tall hedges, Keene had never been much of a runner and he was starting to develop a painful stitch in his side. But before he could ask the woman to slow down, they turned to go down yet another corridor among the hedges only to slam into the man who had advised him to get away. Keene tried to avoid him, but the woman moved one way, the man another and instead of avoiding each other they all went sprawling head over heels. Finally coming to a tangled rest. ?I said to get away from that woman kid, not knock me over in the process!? Leon said angrily as he untangled himself from the two of them. He got up and dusted his clothing off. Keene took another moment to catch his breath before responding, ?I?m sorry sir. I didn?t mean to.? ?Forget it kid,? Maya spoke up. ?I sort of helped you with the knocking down process.? She got up, smiled and offered her hand to Leon. ?I?m terribly sorry about that. We certainly didn?t mean to knock you over. I?m Maya, and you are?? Leon ignored her offered hand. ?You can call me Leon.? Maya withdrew her hand and instead offered it to Keene helping him stand up. ?Thanks Maya,? He said as he dusted himself off. ?My name is Keene. Is it okay if I stick with you?? He pleaded. ?Sure Keene,? Maya looked over at Leon with a questioning look in her eyes. Leon sighed. ?Fine we can all travel together. I was following someone else, but I must have missed a turn as I seem to have lost them.? He turned around and continued down the path, not bothering to see if the others were following him. But then he heard the sound of their footsteps and though he would never admit it to them, he was glad to have the company. Now if he could just figure out where he was and how the hell he was going to get out of it. _______________ OOC: And now Leon, Maya and Keene are off on their own.

I just know Jared is going to find out. After all if they question Daniel?s mother and use drugs, she knows the truth. So should I now be saying poor Daniel & Anna? Especially since you?ve been painting a picture of a government that has no mercy towards people who know members of the resistance?
The answer to your question is...
YES!
I won't say any more though as I don't want to spoil it for you.
Cackles evilly

Vanna, stifled a groan at the ungodly shrill noise of someone screaming. Stupid melodramatic fools! She thought to herself. ?I really should move to a new home,? she muttered as she opened her eyes. ?I am tired of putting put with those ridiculous kids making noise every single day.? She sat up and then froze. She was in a small hole made of dirt instead of in her own bed. Before she could wonder just how that happened, even more screaming caught her attention. She stood up and turned just in time to see the head of a young girl explode. Vanna calmly climbed out of the hole she had been lying in and turned her back on the gruesome sight. So another bratty kid is dead, so what? That just means one less kid to make ungodly noise in the morning when I'm trying to get some rest. She thought to herself. She looked at the tombstone next to the hole she had woken up in. Her name Vanna Polunochnaya clearly stood out. But there were no dates. Not even of when she had been born. And hers wasn't the only one, there were more graves like hers with names on them. All in the middle of a field surrounded by tall hedges. Movement caught her eye and she looked up to see a woman with two children fleeing the area. The woman raised her hand but Vanna couldn?t see what she was doing. Then a moment later the woman along with the children crawled through a hole in the tall hedge. Then as Vanna watched the plants literally grew before her eyes, and within a few moments it was if there never had been a hole in the hedge. ?This must be some sort of bizarre dream.? She whispered to herself. She turned to look back at the girl who had just died, but her attention was caught by the young man standing next to the grave that was closest to where hers was. He was trembling and seemed to be in shock. Vanna looked at the tombstone, Scott Sheppard. She looked back at the girl who had just died when she heard a voice say, ?Personally, I wasn?t too fond of you either.? She was standing where the young girl?s head would have been, covered in blood and gore. How in the world did that happen? She thought. The girl didn?t look strong enough to have literally killed the young girl, but, even if she had been standing right next to her there was no way she would have gotten that much blood and gore on her. It looked like she had been in the middle of the explosion for so much blood to be all over her. Vanna groaned. ?Dream or not, I?m not sticking around for this.? She turned her back on everyone once again and began to look for a way out. ?Where are you going?? A voice asked her. Vanna stopped and turned back to see who had spoken. ?Scott is your name correct?? He nodded. ?Then I would think it was obvious, I?m getting out of here. I don?t give a damn as to what?s happening or as to where we are, so I?m leaving.? Scott looked back at the girl who was dead, and the one covered in blood. Everyone was still looking stunned and a few were even beginning to back away from the site. He turned back to face Vanna. ?I think I?ll come with you if you don?t mind.? ?Suit yourself young man.? Vanna shrugged indifferently.

Now I know this post here was already explained in that their intent was to be sarcastic, which by the way I figured it was. ;)
I lost track of what everyone was talking about. Anyway. Money, the root of wickedness? Nonsense. I'm a gold digger in training, so I may be slightly biased... but I think that money is a solid foundation to everything. It gets you what you want, when you want it. If you have a handful of cash, you can be anything you want. Besides, who ever said money can't buy love and happiness? That's some BS they are feeding you so you grow up with "morals." You want love? Go pick up a hooker. Money sure does buy you some time with those foxy ladies. Or men. Whatever floats your boat. Worried about being evil? Well, if it's a sin, sins are forgiven... so whip that wallet out and do whatever you damn please.
But I am curious as to why you found this post so upsetting. Because putting the sarcasm aside, it?s not offensive or immoral either. Because morals aren?t absolute.
So you think people shouldn't have morals? You think people can be evil because sins are forgiven? Well buddy, if everybody thought that way, people like Hitler would be ruling the world, committing horrendous sins, making life a living hell, all the while thinking "It's okay--I'll be forgiven".
I?m kind of curious as to how you interpreted this as a they were saying people shouldn?t have any morals. Morals are very subjective and vary depending upon both the society and religion or lack of religion in which one was brought up in. The same goes for evil, what one society considers evil another considers normal.
You REALLY think that money can buy love and happiness? Just "go pick up a hooker" you say. Do you REALLY believe that that's love?!? There's a HUGE difference between love and sex. The best things in life are free. Money can't buy you happiness, and it certainly can't buy you love. Material posessions don't give you happiness either. That's just greed, and that doesn't lead to anything good. Why are you trying to defend greed? Why are you trying to defend EVIL? I REALLY hope you don't plan on living your life by this standard, or with this logic, because it isn't at all a good thing.
On some level money can buy you love and happiness, it really depends on what type of love and happiness you are after. Again this is dependant upon what beliefs you were raised with. In a sense here you are taking your own moral system and attempting to force it on a complete stranger. I can pretty much guarantee you that picking up a hooker isn?t going to turn someone into the next Hitler. Prostitution has been around for centuries so that?s proof right there. ;) Anyway, there?s my two cents, in a way both posts were rather entertaining. Blase in how they were poking fun at all the people (in general, not here on the boards) being so serious about how money is the root to all evil and your response as it just reinforced that concept, that people take the idea that money causes all the evil in the world to seriously. If you were to take away money, for those people who have such tendencies, well they would simply find another means to get what they want. Those who are genuinely evil will use what ever method works to get what they want and money is but one of the tools out there for them to use.

Anime Best type of anime relationships?
Horendithas replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central

Also, I'd like to add a little more to this topic: Do you like to see very sexual relationships, or would you prefer it less?
So long as it?s tastefully done, I?m fine with either including very sexual relationships, or not including them. And by tasteful I mean not the usual fan service tactics where they include a lot of stuff that is clearly just to get people to watch the series instead of exploring the relationship between the characters.
While it is realistic that lovers have lots of sex, I have some problems with sexual relationships. In a romance anime, I like to see it more often. After all, if the topic is relationships, there has to be sex basically. Nonsexual relationships just don't happen... it would only wrk if they were particularly abnormal characters.
What exactly to you mean by you have some problems with sexual relationships? Are you referring to ones where the sex is obviously put in just to please the fans? Or in general? I?m going to disagree with you slightly on the nonsexual relationships. There are plenty of relationships where two people are very close and love each other dearly, but the relationship is not sexual at all. And the two people who care for each other are not related and aren?t necessarily of the opposite sex. So I don?t think it?s abnormal at all.
in non-romance anime, though, I am split. On the one hand, I definitelly like to see couples form in anime. It only works, though, if it isn't intrusive on the plot. It's especially annoying when the relationships form out of seamingly nowhere. And if there is a relationship, I can't stand the prospect of them going 160 episode without ever even kissing (all eyes on Inuyasha) All in all, I only care that the sex is handled correctly.
You won?t get any argument on InuYasha from me. Far too many fillers instead of actual character development in that show. Anyway, like your ending sentence, so long as it?s not a fan service type of deal, I have no issues with sex being in a show at all. It?s even possible to simply imply it without the need to outright show it. And yet at the same time occasionally it?s fun to watch something that is more fan service just for the fun of it. But for the most part I prefer it to be done in a more tasteful manner that reflects the characters growing relationship. -

Are you in love, have you been, are you currently falling in love? Have you fallen out? Do you even think it should be possible to fall out of love? Is love absolute? Can you fall in love at first sight? I pretty much want to hear anything you all have to say about the manner.
No I am not in love nor am I falling in love. I did at one time think I was in love, but it didn?t work out and I realized that my feelings were not any deeper than simple attraction. I do think that you can fall out of love for the simple reason that love is something that is constantly changing. You don?t fall in love and then it?s permanent. I think it?s something that either withers from lack of attention, or grows stronger as the relationship progresses. So I don?t think it?s absolute either. I don?t really believe in love at first sight. I hear this all the time, but I still don?t believe it. I think that people fall in lust at first sight and then later when the love comes along they romanticize it by saying it was love at first sight. After all many of the people I know consider love more romantic than lust. I have no problem admitting that when I go out with a guy that if there isn?t some level of physical attraction I don?t go out with them. It?s not love, but lust? Definitely.

What You Want For Christmas THIS YEAR
Horendithas replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
Usually I go home for the Christmas holidays so if I got what I really wanted I?d fly home for a week. But since that won?t be possible this year I?ll settle for getting a copy of Twilight Princess for the GameCube. And I want to get it the day it comes out so I can spend the Christmas holidays playing the game. Other than that I don?t really care or want anything else. -
Anime Best type of anime relationships?
Horendithas replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central

So would you like have sex with your sister? I knew a guy that did even had a child with her and she commited suicide. He got really drunk and thought that my friend was his dead sister so he tryed to kill her then kill himself, what kind of reality would this be?
You?ve kind of missed the point of this thread, and that?s to discuss what type of relationship in an anime you like the most. Based on your post it?s obvious you don?t care for incest relationships so how about explaining which types in anime you actually do like.
Well, I think Yaoi/Yuri is rather creepy. I'm not against Gay couples, but I don't really enjoy seeing them, well, y'know. It just doesn't seem right.
Actually those are my favorite types of couples in anime. It?s a format that isn?t explored enough in my opinion. I enjoy other types of couples in anime but I find the yaoi and yuri the most interesting and fun to watch.
Plus, think about it in the characters point of veiw. Would two best friends, brothers/sisters, or people who are total opposites of each other, be caught making out? And think about it rationally. Unless foretold in the stories, the characters AREN'T Gay/Lesbians. [/SIZE']
Perhaps you could clarify where you are going with this statement. Character?s point of view? Which characters are you referring to? And to ask if two best friends, brothers/sisters would be caught making out doesn?t really make sense. Most people don?t make out in front of other people and in some countries incest is considered a crime, so it?s only natural that people don?t make out where others can see them. What exactly are you asking that we think about rationally? The anime I have watched that have yaoi and yuri pairings well, the characters are gay/lesbian. You make it sound as if all of them are forcing the other person to be something they are not. Are you referring to fan fictions where people pair up characters that aren?t in that type of relationship in the actual anime? I?m not really sure where you are going here.
But, don't get me wrong. I'm not flaming anybody for what they like, or trying to teach my beliefs to you and force them down your throat. I'm just simply stating the facts, and my opinion.[/SIZE']
I don?t think you are flaming, but you say you are just simply stating facts, how about you be a little more clear on what you think are facts? Anyway, I?m not a big fan of the incest relationship deal in anime?s but like Aaryanna already stated, it is very realistic to include them, as they do exist. Whether or not it?s considered acceptable by society doesn?t change the fact that they exist. Besides there are plenty of cases where it was considered acceptable in our past history. For example the incestuous marriages among members of the royal households of Europe were intended to preserve the familial property and expand the clan's territory. They were considered normal, not abnormal. Marrying an outsider was what they considered abhorrent and unnatural. -

Before that, we as humans, and our cousins such as the neandertal were migratory, and had to move and hunt for our sustenance. It was not until we started to cultivate and grow crops in such places as the fertile crescent, or other areas that we could sit down and think, hmmmmmm, what happens when we die? Now I wasnt alive back 10s of thousands of years ago, but I would assume that our ancient ancestors also felt grief for the fallen, and that they too buried them, but thier beliefs of a all powerful god were probably not there, or if they were they were very limited.
I never thought I?d see the day where I would defend religion, but you are making the very same mistake that religion often does. You are assuming that because we think things happened a certain way that it must indeed be true. You said it yourself, you were not alive back then and you have no way of truly knowing what these people really thought. Just as religion could be a sham, so could our beliefs as to what happened back in that time frame. In the end that whole stance is an assumption. They could have believed in a God and simply lacked the ability to record what they believed, or such records did not survive the passage of time. This is the inherent danger to making assumptions based on written documents and finding bones or remains of a society. You don?t know how much of the document in question is actually true, or that the assumptions made about how they lived are true either.
Anyways, if you honestly look at religion, it is responsible for 10s of millions of deaths over the centuries. People dying in the name of their god, people dying because they did not conform to the new religious views thrust upon them all fit in there. Christianity is responsible for far more deaths than anything that Hitler could come up with, as are Islam or any other of the major religions. But no one wants to talk about that. No one is squeaky clean. Horrible acts have been commited in the name of religion, but on the same side, some of the most kindhearted and generous. I am not trying to bash on any religion in particular, but to say that religion has always been a good thing is misguided at best and plain ignorant at worst. Why? What is so wrong with me having a vision? What made Muhammed special? What makes the Pope all high and mighty? I find it interesting that Budha himself did not wish for his beliefs to become a religion but his followers did. Why? Power. And if you ask yourself, if god made everyone equal, why are woman still not able to become priests in the church?
Comparing religion to Hitler is a bit absurd. You can?t take centuries of deaths and compare them to the chaos of a single leader who was not around for centuries. After all if Hitler could have lived that long, it?s possible he might have killed just as many people as others did in the name of religion in the same time frame. Overall it?s just not a realistic comparison when you consider that Hitler didn?t have the same amount of time to impose what he wanted on the world. It?s true that horrible acts have been committed in the name of religion, but you are forgetting that it is the person who is using religion as an excuse to do things that are not acceptable. Religion in that sense is nothing more than a tool, just as others use the government to pass laws to get what they want. Which is why politicians are against single line item veto options, as they want their ?pork? to be part of the regular law. The same is true of religion. People take a whole picture and then insert other things to make what they want acceptable. Many of the things religion has supposedly done over the centuries have often been a case of greed, and desire for power and those in charge used religion to make it acceptable. Also? and I?m putting on my moderator cap here. You need to do something about your poor spelling in your posts as they are littered with misspelled words. Please use something like Word to double check your spelling or if you don?t have word, get a hotmail account as it?s free and it has a spellchecker. Another good idea would be to break up your posts into paragraphs to make it easier to read. Right now the main bulk if it just runs together and it makes it harder to follow what you are trying to say. I always type up my posts in word and then simply copy and paste them. A quick look at the rules will explain why I am asking you to do this:
Incoherent/Sloppy Posts: At OtakuBoards, we greatly emphasize the concept of having clear, easy to read posts. This includes correct use of spelling, grammar and punctuation. If a member is posting with very poor quality, they will be asked to clean up their future posts. If the member persists in posting poorly, they will be banned from the site.
So please work on that as it?s required for all members to put more effort into their posts.

I?m pretty happy where I am at the moment, aside from a few quirks that seem to be just part of the Utah experience. So if I was to list a place I would rather be, I actually would prefer to have the chance to tour around the world and visit different places before I make up my mind. I want to visit so many places like Germany to see the castles, England, Japan (since my parents took me when I was little and I don?t remember it) Ireland, Australia as I've been curious ever since James mentioned how the capitol there was planned and then built, It's got to be quite the different experiance as far as how a city is built that is. Egypt to see the pyramids and many other places as well. But if I can?t do that I?d be happy joining both SunfallE and Aaryanna in living close to Yellowstone (I?ve always wanted to visit that place) and having a house along the beach. That sounds like it would be a great way to go. ;)

Anime H^3 (Happy Hustle High) that is!!
Horendithas replied to DarkAngel_2.0's topic in Otaku Central
Welcome to OtakuBoards DarkAngel_2.0, First of all I would recommend you take a moment to review the Rules and FAQ located on the left sidebar of the forum. Also a quick look at the sticky in the Anime Lounge will show that this area is for discussing anime shows. We actually have a separate section for discussing mangas called the Manga Workshop. Normally I would just shuffle this over to the manga section, but your opening post is a bit on the lacking side. It's usually a good idea to put more effort into your posts, especially when it's the first one in a thread. For example you could have taken the time to explain more about the actual storyline of this manga series. So I am going to close this thread, however feel free to create a new one in the proper area, just be sure to give more details so others have some idea as to what type of manga it is. If you have any questions, feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~indifference Thread Closed -

This holiday for me has always been about getting together with family to eat lots of great food, watching football, playing games and just enjoying our time together.
The same goes for me. It?s the only thing I don?t care for when it comes to living out west instead of back east with my parents. I miss spending Thanksgiving with my family. Every other year I fly out, but this year I won?t be flying out to be with them. Fortunately I have good friends here and one of them knew my parents while they were living here in Utah so they have invited me to spend thanksgiving with them and since I am a good friend with their son I suspect we will have a great time. The only difference for me is that I will be putting in some time at the woman?s crisis center where I volunteer on Thanksgiving Day, as unfortunately, domestic violence does not respect holidays and even on Thanksgiving there is work to be done. Last year was fairly quiet at work so hopefully this year will be the same.

As open questions to thread participants: I realise that this came up in the last thread about the death penalty, but where is the line drawn between justice and revenge? In cases where "an eye for an eye" isn't possible (because of the nature or sheer numbers of the crime), do you feel that punishment should be meted out in the best, fastest way possible, or do you favor elaborately extended punishment/torment/humiliation?[/size']
I don't think I really said one way or the other, but when it comes to execution, I think it's better to do it quickly and get it over with. It may seem like a good idea to dish out an elaborate or extensive punishment, but in the end, that seems more like revenge instead of justice. And I've always seen the execution as payment for the crimes in that it means they will never be able to do it again. Dragging out their experience through torment/humiliation just seems pointless and a waste of time to me.

I?d like to request a banner and avatar set. My current set is one of many attempts and truthfully I?m not really happy with it. I like the pictures, but so far I don?t care for how they look, as all I did was clean up the picture, brighten the colors and give it a border. My other horrible attempts were sent to the trash bin where they belong. I?d like the same pictures used and I?m pretty much open to any style, the only things I do want is their names on the banner like before, not the same font, just their names. They don't have to be in the same spot either. Anyway, here are the pictures. How easy life would be if we could just claim money is the root to all evil. Then all we would have to do is get rid of money and the world would be saved! But then as others have already pointed out, you stop and think for a moment and realized that the evil is not in the money, but rather in the person who loves the money. This type of thing is a flaw in the person, not the money. Or whatever object it is that they desire. It?s the greed; lust, jealousy or what ever may drive the person to obtain money or any other thing that is evil. And even then a certain amount of desire for such things is normal, as you need it for the very basic things, like food, clothing, shelter, etc. And even then I think it?s not quite the same as true evil. Desiring money or other things I believe only becomes evil when you are willing to destroy or harm another person in order to obtain more. Like the corporation that crushes a smaller one in the name of more profits, (and by crush I mean they do so through illegal methods) or the spouse who murders the other one to get the insurance money. Now that in my opinion is evil, not the money. But the person who desires it and is willing to do anything to get it.

It's nearly 2 months since we started dating. And my 20th birthday is coming up. So, do you guys think that it would be okay, if we went "all the way"?
I would say it depends on whether or not you want to do it or if it?s something you are thinking of doing to make him happy. If it?s something both of you are considering and you feel comfortable, then by all means go ahead. But I would certainly keep in mind that only dating for two months and it being your first relationship no less, well to me that seems fairly quick to be considering having sex. Especially since you also said here:
Everyone's right. I'm not ready for 'it'. But today, he said that he loved me! For the first time! >.<
Don?t let the fact that he said he loves you sway you into doing something you aren?t really ready for. Getting too intimate, especially when you have already admitted that you are not ready for it is not a good idea. Later you?ll be wishing you either hadn?t had sex or found out that you enjoyed it. But if you aren?t comfortable with the idea, it?s not something that you have to do immediately. I?ve had several relationships where we dated for nearly a year before anything more intimate ever happened. It just depends on the guy and how you both feel about each other. I don?t regret what I did with my previous boyfriends, but with it being your first one, I would be a little more reserved so you don?t end up regretting a hasty decision later. Who knows, next week or in another month or two you might find yourself feeling more comfortable about it.
Also, every single one of my non-virgin friends say that sex isnt even that enjoyable, so its basically only going to get you severely emotionally attatched and him wanting to do "the deed" alot.
Also, don?t let what nezzyjean says scare you away from sex altogether. In all honesty it really comes down to experience and it may be a bit off at first especially if it?s your first time, but if you do reach the point where you are more intimate with each other, you begin to pick up on what works for each other in that respect and when that happens, it?s a very pleasant experience. ;)

Welcome to theOtakuBoards Th3BlackParad3, Please be aware that we have a rules page that all members are required to read before posting. These Rules and FAQ can be found on the left navigation menu and the Otaku Lounge Rules are pinned at the top of the forum. You can also use the underlined links I have just provided. Due to the spammy nature of this thread I am going to lock it (well other than Sara's response which was just fine) You may want to read through some of the existing threads to see what is acceptable and what is not. Also, we have pretty high standards when it comes to the quality of posts (ie: making them well thought out with care given to grammar). When you re-read the rules page it will make more sense to you. If you have any questions please feel free to PM myself or any of the other moderators. ~indifference Thread Closed

Welcome to OtakuBoards gundamx, Normally I would just move your thread to the official one for discussing Chobits, but the opening post is a bit lacking by our standards. For example you could have taken the time to explain a little on what the show is actually about. Please take some time to review the Rules and FAQ located on the left sidebar of the forum. Also take a look at the sticky on how to post in Anime Lounge, once you?ve done that, why I closed this will make more sense. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~indifference Thread Closed.

And the religious thread begins to derail? The13thMan you?ve made your point that your opinion is that religious humor in a religious debate thread is inappropriate and DeathKnight, ChibiHorsewoman & Sandy have made their opinion known that they think you should laugh at religion, even in debates. At this point it?s painfully obvious that all of you have a different viewpoint so lets leave it at that and move on. Especially since if you really feel a person?s post is truly offensive or doesn?t belong in a debate, there is a handy tool in the upper right hand corner for reporting a bad post. As for the question about humor, my opinion is that I?m inclined to agree with DeathKnight, ChibiHorsewoman and Sandy. Laughing on some level at religion is one of the ways I keep myself from looking at those who believe and thinking they are idiots. By seeing that even those who are religious have a sense of humor, it makes them more real to me. It?s the ones throwing out the words sacrilegious or inappropriate over every little thing that worry me. Even the LDS/Mormon church approves of humor about their own religion as they often approve joke books to be published for their members to read. Just take a look here: Book In order for a book to be published by Deseret Book, it has to be approved by the church on some level, as they own that publishing company. So if they disapproved of humor in any form, they wouldn?t let the author publish the book. At least they wouldn?t let it be sold at bookstores they own.

I mean, I know they can redo the post, but I've never seen it actually done. I think it scares a lot of people away who go to the Anthology first. There have been many times where I have seen a new mwmber post a poem, get it closed, and then never show up again.
One of the reasons you don't seem to see members reposting a thread that they created without the proper rating, is that some of them do re-post it and then edit the original asking a moderator to delete it. Something I have done several times. In fact I removed such a thread just this week since the member reposted it with the required rating. And since as Gavin put it:
However having hit the return button by accident while still posting a thread
I don?t give a member who has done this any grief as it wasn?t a case of ignoring the rules. I just remove the redundant thread.
Well, I don't want to change the rule that we put ratings in our thread, but if someone forgets or something they shouldn't loose their whole post. And also, isn't it quicker to edit a title real quick instead of going through the trouble of writing a message explaining the close?
It may seem quicker, but the one problem I see with simply editing someone?s thread is although it may start out at a pg rating, even with poetry they may be planning on later adding more mature content to the thread they started. So the only way to be sure about the proper rating would be to pm the member to ask them. And in the long run simply closing the thread and asking them to repost it is far more efficient. At least I think so as that means you don?t have to keep track of whom you?ve sent pm?s to or who has answered, or worry about closing it later if they don?t respond.

Have you every eoncountered some random quirk or product that you thought had absolutely no purpose at all? I have one that has been bugging me lately; it has to do with Mozilla. If you browse their store you can buy a two disc set of Firefox coupled with ThunderBird. Why? Its a free download so you don't need licenseing for multiple computers either. if you need a browser to start off with Windows comes with IE embedded so you can use that until you can donwload somthing better.
Well I myself might have no use for it, but some of the guys I know who do tech support by going to people's homes use such disks all the time. The reason? They say it's quicker to have a disk on hand especially when they are fixing someone's computer and part of the problem is that the customer can't get online. One guy has a whole portable cd case full of disks of this nature that he uses for work. I'm assuming that if their wasn't some form of demand, they wouldn't bother to make the disks right? As for pointless stuff. I saw a title on the M & M's bags the other day that said tear and share size. It just made me laugh since it was the same size as a king sized bag, so it seemed pointless for two bags of the same size to have different names.

]Well, America is supposably the best country in the world where everyone is equal and you can get a job no matter what. But still, have you ever seen a woman/colored president? Of course not, but that doesn't make you want to stop being American does it?
I?m sure you meant well with that comparison, but in all honesty it doesn?t apply. You or I can both run for President, where becoming president of say the church is completely out of the question, it will never happen so long as such positions are only open to men who hold the priesthood (if I remember correctly) So you?ll need a more valid argument as to why you think the LDS church is an equal opportunity religion.
You?ve confused me, what does having another job have to do with tithing? I?m talking about tithing on child support, not on a regular job. But to answer your question, she is disabled and lives on disability. So no she doesn?t have a side job, besides being my mom. ^_~
I can see where you are coming from on this issue. After all for federal income tax purposes, child support is tax-free to the recipient, meaning neither the ex-spouse nor the child owes taxes on it. So it really does make no sense that members of the LDS church are paying tithing on something of this nature. It?s not the same as a situation where say your boss is LDS and he pays tithing on what he earns and then you pay tithing on what he pays you. Both parties in this instance have worked to earn that money and therefore are taxed on it. Where the child support is money that the father/mother hands over to the ex-spouse since they are no longer married. So it only makes sense that they are not taxed on the child support. After all when they were married and the one working gave their spouse money to pay for things, the government didn?t tax them then either. Considering that many divorced mothers often struggle to make ends meet, it seems like having them paying tithing on child support is counter productive. I don?t really buy into the argument that such a thing brings blessings, after all in reality; the LDS church doesn?t really need that money. If the LDS Church were a U.S. corporation, by revenues it would be about halfway up on the list of Fortune 500 companies. So it seems to me that it would be far more charitable of them to tell divorced mothers to not pay tithing on money they receive from child support.
Oh and I do have AIM, the information is in my profile. Though truthfully I?m not on a lot as I?m more into reading, doing my homework and visiting my friends. I don?t do a lot of online chatting. I do enjoy talking with others when I am on though. ;)
I?ll vouch for that. You?re next to impossible to catch online. :p

1. What religion are you CURRENTLY following? If you don't have one, then why? None. Why? Because I don?t really believe in it and I tend to not follow things I don?t believe in. 2. Why do you follow that religion? Parents, personal reasons, etc? Why don?t I follow a religion? Because I don?t really believe in it, and my parents were never highly religious either. I?ve had plenty of times where different religions were introduced to me and I never felt any connection or that it was something I wanted to be a part of. 3. Do you ever feel that people often criticize you because of these beliefs? Now there?s a loaded question, and since I believe you are LDS/Mormon I?ll leave it alone as the worse offenders who criticize me for my lack of beliefs have been followers of the faith you belong to. I say I?ll leave it alone because on the other side I?ve also met people in the same faith who aren?t rude like that. So I?m inclined to believe it?s more a problem with the rude people than the religion as a whole. 4. This one may spark a little bit of arguing: Do you believe that your religion is the one true religion? If so provide evidence. Even if I had a religion I would not believe that it was the one true religion. I don?t think you can prove that one is in fact ?the one true religion? For the simple reason that these things are suppose to be based off of faith not evidence. And honestly those who think that their religion is the only true one are in my opinion, arrogant. There are a lot of religions out there and I find it hard to believe that only one is correct. But then I don?t believe in it at all so perhaps that?s to be expected. ;)
