I love the game, but I stopped playing for a good while, and I wasn't in the level up mood, considering the enemies power levels increased by a good margin [a-freaking-gain!]. I'm probably pick it up again next Friday, and train intil Saturday and continue the game.
This is why I always tell people to get the guide to this game. ;) You?re already past the point where customizing your weapons really makes a difference, but if you are at Elicoor II then you definitely want to upgrade your weapons and armor as the really good stuff can only be got by making it. The best spot, if you decide to start over is right before the last bit on Elicoor II the first time. Right before you go and
fight Crosell in the Urssa Lava Caves.
The best place for item creation I?ve found is in the town of Peterny as the workshop is right next to the Inn so if things don?t work right you just go into the menu and load the game and give it another try. If you do it at this point you want to have Misty Lear, Mackwell and Maria in the team for creating Orichalcum. Just keep hitting original creation till you get a price range at about 5050, either just about or below that number. Then turn around and synthesize that to one of your weapons and you?ll get a 500+ attack bonus. And since it has the number [1] after it, you can then turn around and duplicate that effect if you have the money. I boosted the attack of my main three characters by 1000+ attack points each and then I had them create a diamond for each one. I think the price range for original creation for that was somewhere around 1100. (which is why I always save so if I make the wrong thing by mistake I can start over, also be sure to put all the other inventors you signed on standby so they don?t work at the same time you do and eat through your money) Anyway, the diamond adds 50 defense, you just put it on your weapon and it too can be duplicated. So I went into the next phase of the game with weapons on my main characters that had 1000+ attack and 100+ defense. It really makes a huge difference. And later if you get a better weapon you can transfer all the old stats onto your new weapon. Provided you have the money for it. The only thing you don?t want to do is add elemental damage. Neutral works the best since later the monsters have more resistance to stuff. Though I?m sure you already know that. ;) Anyway, I could get seriously long winded here as the guide has about 270 pages of great details for helping you get the most out of this game. Sandy already mentioned that there are online guides that are free. Usually I agree, but not for this game. I?ve yet to see a guide that really tells you everything you need to know. Though if you need just a few details that you haven't found online I can post them here if you want. Just let me know.

I can't window shop. I want to buy it all. I have no self-control.
You sound like me. I have the same problem, it?s fun but I always end up wanting something that I really don?t need or can?t afford. So I keep my window-shopping down to avoid the temptation. The one thing I do like to do though is when ever I visit my parents my mom and I will spend the day checking out shops, going out to lunch, getting our hair done, etc. We sort of make a day out of it. Though I?m not sure if you can call it window-shopping as we usually each have a certain amount of money that we bring just so we can pick up that one thing we want. I know what you are getting at though Aaryanna, even if all you do is go awwww over how cute things are; it?s fun to go with someone you know and check things out. Sometimes if I do go with friends I make a point to leave my money at home so even if I am tempted I can?t get anything. Then when I get home and do have my money, my self-control is easier to maintain as the tempting item is not before me sitting pretty on a shelf singing buy me! ;)

My landlady uses beer traps just like Dagger mentioned in her garden. And it?s surprisingly effective. She just uses a little net for getting fish out of a fish tank to get the dead bugs out each day. It gets far more than just slugs and snails too. The only thing you have to worry about is if you have pets they might get into it. As for inventions I?m grateful for. Mine would have to be medicines. I?ve had asthma since I was a kid and though it?s gotten less severe as I?ve gotten older, I can?t imagine what my life would be like with out my inhaler. It?s a great relief to know that if I ever have trouble breathing I have something that can make that better in a jiffy. Feeling like you are suffocating is very unpleasant. The other thing, well I?m in agreement with Mariskah on the Mute button feature of the TV remote. Who ever invented that deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. It?s probably the most used button on my remote as I too find commercials annoying. Especially how some of them seem to be at a volume level that is twice what the show you are watching is. So when it goes to commercial you get deafened by not only the sheer level of the stupidity of the commercial but the noise as well. Pity we don?t have a mute button for the movie theaters though. I?m old enough to remember when waiting to watch a movie didn?t include thirty minutes of commercials and previews. The previews I can handle but the commercials? It?s irritating that here you are paying to see the movie and they still have to shove advertising in your face.

The13thMan and Adahn this needs to end as it?s pointlessly derailing the thread. I?m mostly looking at you The13thMan as I?ve had to edit a number of posts to remove your uncalled for swearing where you modified the words a bit in order to get around the swear filter. You?ve been here long enough to know better. Debates are fine but being confrontational and slipping in swearing and uncalled for insults is not. Consider this a warning as further behavior along these lines will not only get this thread locked but could possibly result in a ban as well. If you have any questions about this you can pm me.

Well my avatar and banner is a character from an adult video game that I eventually intend to get. Once they get around to actually releasing it that is. My custom title is more of a reflection of how I?ve been feeling lately. ?The desire to give out punishment for purposes of repayment or revenge for wrongs that have been committed.? I?ve been seeing a lot of very nasty cases of abuse at the Women?s Crisis Center this summer and though I would never act on it, a part of me would love to clobber those responsible for hurting others. :animesigh I looked through different words like vengeance, payback and justice and I finally settled on Retribution since I like the look, feel and sound to it. The rest of my signature is pretty self explanatory. I?m a member and one of the founders of the Desbreko Fanclub, a supporter of the Super Otaku Force and the SIS is a reflection of my personality on the boards. Though I don?t let it show as much as I would love to. And yes that?s something that fellow SIS members will understand. ;)

Fate, destiny call it what you will...
Horendithas replied to liveinmybubble's topic in General Discussion
Do I believe in fate/destiny? No. In fact my opinion on the subject pretty much mirrors what Retribution is saying. Because if such a thing really did exist it would mean my every thought and action was already determined before I made them. And ironically from a religious standpoint it contradicts some of what those of the religion here in Utah believe. And by that I'm reffering to the LDS/Mormon Church. To them God put us here and gave us the free will to make choices so that we could make our own mistakes and therefore learn and grow spiritually. So why would he then turn around and bind us with fate/destiny? What would be the point if we really couldn?t make any of our own choices? We wouldn?t be learning anything or growing spiritually for that matter. Now I don?t believe in religion either, I just find it amusing that on this issue, our opinion is the same. ;) -

Physical improbabilities are not impossibilities. It is physically possible for a single atom to spontaneously cease to exist. The chance of this happening is infinitely small, but non-zero. It is also possible, but even more infinitely unlikely, that an entire tree, one moment after falling down in the woods, will cease to exist, thus making no crashing noise.
True, but a tree is far more than a single atom, thus raising the probability of one ceasing to exist after falling even more unlikely.
If you are going to invoke physics, you must understand that all the rules we know apply on a large scale 99.9999etc....% of the time. Even with your recording device, and a machine that causes the tree to fall near enough to the device to be recorded, it is possible that no sound will be recorded. The only thing we can be certain of is that nothing is certain.
Again true, but it?s still a bit of a semantics issue as I can go out in to the forest and have someone randomly drop branches to simulate a tree falling over and every single time I will get a noise/sound. The statement of the only thing we can be certain of is that nothing is certain is a catch phrase designed to say that there are levels of science that we do not understand so we can?t not state that this is 100% true. But I suspect that if we were to find a tree that fell without making a noise then the physics surrounding the event would have to be radically different than what we already understand. And to be honest, I don?t see that happening anytime soon.
Never be certain of anything, never assume your assumptions will always be right. Ask yourself the question again, and answer differently. "I don't know that it makes a sound, but I sincerely hope and believe that it does." If you have a need to claim knowledge of things unknowable, then I've got a club you can join. It's the, "I don't know, but I don't know I don't know" club. I've been to some of their meetings, and I've always walked away feeling like I never should have been there.
We are not talking about an assumption here. The fact that it does make a sound has been proven. In fact with the storm last month here I got to hear the sound first hand when we had several trees go down on my street. By asking the question again and changing my answer I don?t accomplish anything as this is not something that is on the other end of the spectrum. Something that is 99.999% unknown, like the idea that trees have a soul, since the proof of a soul even in humans is not scientifically provable at this point. So in that circumstance changing your answer is a way to explore different methods of determining whether or not a soul is real. So saying I don?t know if a person really has a soul, but I sincerely hope and believe that they do, is a more realistic use of this method. I don?t have a need to claim knowledge of things unknowable, I?m only claiming knowledge of things that on a high level have been proven. And by high I mean anyone around the world can be next to a tree falling over and hear the sound/noise associated with it. Unless they happen to have the misfortune of being deaf. So even though the tree made a sound that I will hear, they will not. Though if they are close enough they will feel the vibration it makes when striking the ground.

Make your own motivation poster! (56k warning! Image heavy!)

True, but this just defeats the spirit of the question by going through a loophole in the wording. I don't think this really approaches it fairly. Assume the question isn't just asking about direct first-person hearing - i.e., that it extends to all possible forms of recording or measurement. Assume, in other words, that there's no way of getting evidence one way or another about this particular case. Is this unrealistic, given what's going on? You bet. But this isn't really a good objection, given that the kind of question we're asking about involves the nature of knowledge and its justification, and not just what's likely to happen.
There is nothing special about this discussion. Nor is the analytical approach unfair. The concept of noise and sound is something that has been well proven. And the idea that a tree falling would make no sound if no one is around is a bit absurd considering the knowledge we posses. You are asking people to assume there is no evidence on a topic where there is. In my mind it?s a pointless mental exercise to follow this line of reasoning. We?d be better off arguing over whether or not trees have souls since the concept of a soul is something that at this point is not scientifically provable.
So, what about the statement "One particular falling tree makes noise that can never be measured" and its reverse (that it doesn't make this noise)? Neither one, which everyone should recognize as the "yes" or "no" answers to the topic post's questions, can ever be falsified, because we're talking about a noise which by definition can't be observed, tested, measured, or anything else. Hence the question is not within the bounds of scientific knowledge (and all knowledge gained through observation is basically scientific). We can still talk about what is likely to happen based on past observations of other falling things, but because this particular sound or lack of sound cannot be the object of investigation, properly speaking we can say nothing about it. In this sense, the correct answer is not to answer. (Although if we wanted to keep ourselves honest we could admit that yes, it's extremely unlikely that this one tree will suddenly flout everything currently known in physics)
You answered your own question here. The possibility of a tree that is somehow different than the millions of other trees is beyond unlikely. So again to discuss something as if its not provable when in fact it is just seems pointless. It?s like trying to regress and go back to being ignorant by pretending you lack knowledge about the said tree. About the only use I see for such a discussion is trying to understand how people who lacked the ability to verify the noise/sound, like say people from several hundred years ago, how would they have attempted to answer this very question. And even then our musings would be tainted as we lack the ability to simply forget what we have learned. The fact that due to actually hearing a tree fall or experiancing this event through other media, at some point in our lives, when someone tells us a tree has fallen our instant reaction of mentally thinking about the sound Kerpow is an indicator of how prevalent this knowledge is. It?s common. We know that it does indeed make a noise/sound. So my stance is exactly the same as SunfallE, we already have the ability to verify that when a tree falls there is a sound/noise associated with it whether we are there to hear it or not.

Ok! The idea is to ask a specific person about their opinion on a specific subject, although to prevent this from being a "friends only" thread I'd encourage posters to pick someone randomly (check Who's Online, for instance and choose someone from there). If the selected person does not respond within a week, the last man/woman to have stated their opinion will ask someone new. (In other words, no cutting in line in this thread. It will earn you 2 tsk-points.)
I see one major flaw with this idea and that is what if the person asked to give their opinion on a subject doesn?t read the thread? Or what if they haven?t logged in for several days? Or they might not even be interested in discussing the topic you've chosen. Perhaps a way to help get around that problem would be for the person requesting someone to give their opinion to pm the person in question and ask them to respond back if they are not interested so you can then edit your post and change it to someone else and pm the new choice. You could even give it say a two day limit to respond and then if you don't hear from them you automatically chose another person. That way you would know if they are going to respond or not and potentially keep the thread running longer. Then that person once they give their opinion would in turn choose the next topic and pm the person they want to respond. Sure that might be a bit of a hassle, but it might be worth trying.

I guess you guys are more or less starting to play this game. This one is my absolute favorite game. Played it like 4-5 times already :p in a row! lol ^^
The others might be, but I've already beaten it. I'm just working up the courage to attempt the hardest level. I'm just not sure if I want to invest the time in leveling up the characters and inventing/upgrading weapons.
A couple of her attacks as you level her up will be better. One of her final attacks you get near the end of the game. I won't spoil it on what it does, but it's pretty awesome ^^
I would agree, a number of the members who start out on the weaker side get some much nicer moves later on. Though I never could bring myself to finish leveling up Roger as his character was just too annoying for my tastes. And I never got around to leveling up Peppita either, so perhaps my next time through I?ll give her character a try.

Though truthfully it?s going to be a while as I still haven?t finished working out some of the details with indifference yet.
Yeah I really need to finish writing up the character backgrounds and send them to you. But I assume that since you are going on vacation in just a bit that you plan on waiting until after that at least so I still have time. As for Aaryanna_Mom, take pity on her and give her the link to where the rest is posted so she doesn?t have to wait. Though the format here is much easier to read and even though it?s been awhile since I?ve read it I know that for myself I?d rather wait and read it with the improvements as it?s easier to follow. So keep up the good work. ;)

Well to be honest, sometimes the graphics you use make me want to cringe, but at the same time I always end up laughing at them so I can?t say they offend me when I do find them funny. Even your most recent one that you have removed. In it?s own tongue in cheek way, it was rather funny. Though the table tennis cats are pretty nifty too. And the current stuff you?ve got running in this thread. Hehe, I think I?ve said it before, but you?re the God of Internet pictures as you always post the funniest stuff. Especially the first one where the character gets blown up. Too funny! ;)

A Year After Katrina and Rita. What are your thoughts
Horendithas replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
My thoughts? I?m sad it happened but even sadder at the usual reaction of people who quote other worse disasters as if that somehow makes it better. It?s as if people have lost the ability to feel sympathy with those who are affected by disasters. It?s like telling them this place had one that was worse so you should feel lucky, only that type of retarded thinking doesn?t undo the damaged homes or bring back the dead. So sure I remember it if only because those who make light of such things seem to always speak their mind. And because the religion here makes a point of sending disaster aid to other states and countries. So I even though I?m not a member of the religion here I ended up helping my landlady who is a member organize a food drive for those affected. And there were families who gave some who were left homeless a place to stay in my area as well. What?s even sadder is many of them still are unable to return to the place they use to call home. -
When I first started really getting into anime it was still being heavily edited so I primarily collected manga and the art books as I preferred it over the anime. Now that it has a bigger market and shows like Fruits Basket, Full Metal Panic, DNAngel and many others are being done better with less editing and fairly decent subbing that stance has changed. So now, unless it?s a series unlikely to be subbed (like some of the yaoi and yuri series) I usually prefer the anime for some of the same reasons that Aaryanna does. Although often some of the manga?s will have better artwork, the ones with a lot of action in them are more fun to watch than to read. Though they are also loaded with fillers like Naruto. I?ve quit watching that one altogether and gone back to only reading the manga. Or Earthian, the manga is wonderful and the little bit of anime they made was a total disappointment, as it didn?t stay true to the manga at all. So in conclusion I tend to lean towards preferring the anime, but it?s so close I pretty much like both about the same. With the exceptions of one where I like manga better or the anime better, it really depends on the series. In all honesty I don't think either one trumps the other, both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Empathy (0) o_O Damn! Now Sara won?t associate with me either! :animecry:
At least I?m not the only one to score zero in the Empathy department. If no one will associate with us I say we stick together. And since Aaryanna?s score was a 4 and Mariskah?s a 12 they can hang out with us as well. After all understanding (and experiencing) the emotions and thoughts of others is overrated anyway. :p Though I have to admit I?ll be a little sad that Sara won?t associate with any of us, as she?s rather nifty and cool herself. ;)

Slightly High/Average: Masculinity (64), Femininity (60), Spontaneity, Attention to style, Earthy/Imaginative & Aesthetic/Functional. Low: Empathy (0) & Authoritarianism The empathy score cracks me up the most.
I?ve watched both Aaryanna and SunfallE play it and it does look like great fun and with all the detail indifference has given me via MSN Messenger about the battle system, well it just makes me want to play it even more. Since Aaryanna is on disk two I can see if she?ll lend me disk one and I can get started! Oh the joys of memory cards. ^_^
Aaryanna! Don?t you dare let her steal your disk. Don?t you know? Friends always claim they just want to borrow it and then you never see it again! It?s great fun and based on what you and I have chatted about I?m positive that you will enjoy it. Knowing you I?m thinking the customizing ultimate weapons and armor is really going to appeal to you. That and the cuteness of Fayt or the gorgeousness of Albel will get you. ;)

Art [OBWT] Round 2: Retribution & Aaryanna VS 1nOnlyCloud
Horendithas replied to Ellerby's topic in Creative Works
Aaryanna: What I like best is how colorful and vivid your Halloween theme is. The picture for the haunted house is excellent and having a branch from a tree coming in from the side goes really well too. It?s a little to cheerful for Halloween, but overall it?s vibrant and very colorful. The things I don?t care for is the bright blue stars as they distract from the dark tones of Halloween and the witch is too big and just a silhouette instead of being nicely detailed like the haunted house. I too would recommend moving the moon up higher, making the witch smaller and placing her up near the top of the moon and toning down the brightness of the blue stars. And like Sara mentioned, the font is a little to cheerful as well. Retribution: What I like about your piece is the simple clean look to it. The blue and white look nice, especially the contrasting where lunar is white and epoch is blue. And the way you have text running behind it gives it a nice touch. What I don?t care for is overall it just seems too simple. I know its not, but it just seems that way to me. In the end my vote goes to Aaryanna as I like the vivid Halloween aspect of her piece. Especially the Haunted house. Excellent work both of you. -
Art [OBWT] Round 2: Delta & Lan VS Chikara Kokoro
Horendithas replied to Ellerby's topic in Creative Works
Delta: The thing I like best about your submission is how colorful and busy it is. It?s very vivid and the sharply contrasting colors of blue, yellow and pink really stand out. The thing I don?t care for is that it?s almost too busy. And I just don?t see how it relates to the original picture. Chikara Kokoro: What I like best about your piece is the color scheme. The yellows and blacks all go together nicely. And the texture on the middle spade has a nice look to it. What I don?t care for is that the background and choice of fonts just don?t seem to go together. In the end my vote also goes to Delta. -
Xra: What I like best about your piece is the way you combined pictures of Einstein and chalkboard scribbles to give the impression of the science behind the actual light bulb. The words add a nice touch to the overall theme as well. What I don?t care for is the choice of font, it?s too nice and neat when compared to the overall theme. Kitty: What I like best about yours is the background and concept of how energy powers everything. It all goes together nicely. I also like how you have the center word energy in black making it stand out more. The thing I don?t care for is the words so I?m out of ideas, it just doesn?t fit with the theme at all. Eclipse: What I like the best about your piece is the flames. They have a nice messy vivid look and the way they give rise to darkness except for the light bulb is rather nice looking. The things I don?t care for is the font for the words. They clash with the theme and the choice of color just seems a bit dull. In the end my vote goes to Xra as I think it has a nice messy feel to it. Excellent work everyone.

Art [OBWT] Round 2: Ezekiel & Katana VS Keyblade Wielder
Horendithas replied to Ellerby's topic in Creative Works
Ezekiel: What I like best about your piece is the vivid reds and oranges. I also like the texture and messy graphics on the left side. About the only thing I don?t care for is part of the lines on the left side look like they were cut off instead of flowing in the piece. And the words touch me I hope you burn are just a little to bland. They just don?t seem to fit with how vibrant the rest of the piece is. Katana: What I like best about your piece is the gun with the flames coming out. I think you did a wonderful job with the placement and the colors. The thing I don?t care for is that the background of blue and sparkles just don?t seem to flow with the rest of the picture. In the end my vote goes for Ezekiel as I love the vivid colors and textures of their piece.
