I still think groups would only encourage all the little cliques that pop up. . . . Though I guess it would[/i'] be pretty awesome to have an actual group for Desbreko's Fangirls. :animesmil
Well......though I generally dislike groups and cliques in any form.......I could handle being part of a group or a clique if it was for the honor of being an official Desbreko Fangirl! :p

I?ve been expecting this to happen. Seems like threads that deal with religion end up with members clashing. I suppose it?s because so many of us have very strong beliefs and opinions. :p Desbreko makes a very good point though, most people are just stating what they believe instead trying to say you personally are wrong. Even if the way they stated it seems like a personal attack I don?t believe that it actually is. I disagree with quite a few people in this thread, but I?d hardly expect them to change their views to match mine. I?d be horrified if I had to embrace Christian views against my will so I?m sure those of you who do believe would be equally horrified to have to embrace my beliefs since I don?t believe in God or secular religion. It would actually be extremely counter productive for me to try to convince others to abandon their religion or belief in God just because I do not believe. I am studying to be a therapist and one of the things we are taught to tell patients is to use the network of support that they can get from their religion. It would take too long to explain, but for some people having that network makes a huge difference in their recovery.

Considering how so many people get divorced, re-married and then divorced and then re-married again, waiting until you get married or using abstinence won?t make any difference. If someone waits until they get married and then things don?t work out should they then never have sex again? After all the more partners you sleep with the more likely it is for you to catch an STD, right? The problem with solutions like avoiding pre-marital sex and abstinence is that they do nothing to really educate people on how to protect themselves or to take measures to avoid and treat STD?s. It?s like putting a one-inch band aide on a twelve inch cut. It does help but in the long run it?s really useless. The problem, and mind you this is my opinion, is that many governments and religions (I?m primarily referring to the state I live in and the major religion here) refuse to show any form of responsibility. They want to just tell their children to wait for marriage and to use abstinence and then don?t understand why their children are getting STD?s and pregnant outside of marriage. The issue here is that a lot of people are ignorant of the real reality of STD?s. They?ve heard of them, but they?ve never seen actual photos of what they do to a body, they don?t know how some can cause serious damage to your body and even make you incapable of having children yourself. People need to be fully educated so that they can make an informed choice and not one of being told this can happen, they need to see that it really does. It?s like telling a small kid that a burner on a stove can hurt them. Sometimes you have to turn it on and put something on it so they can see that it really will burn things. I have to wonder why our society is waiting until after our children are already burned before even attempting to educate them. For example, here in Utah there is no sex education in schools and there isn?t one in the churches either. At least the religions I am familiar with that is. So the teaching of pre-martial sex is bad for you is actually doing more harm than good as it?s not teaching people what they really need to know. They don?t grasp the reality of what can happen and for those who get divorced and re-married, they don?t even know that it?s a good idea for both you and your new partner to get checked to make sure you aren?t carrying over a disease from your previous marriage. The sooner people quit clinging to the idea of only once you are married or using abstinence prevents STD?s and realize that we need to educate people; the sooner we might actually see real improvement. Actually I think it?s a bit arrogant to tell others that they are experiencing miracles since you believe in God or religion. It?s like saying even if you don?t believe we know better. Sorry I don?t swallow that kind of mindless devotion to something that has yet to be proven. The reason coincidence is more accurate is that why would a higher power save one person and then turn around and allow another one to die in an accident? That?s not a loving God but someone who saves you if he?s feeling like it at the moment. It?s the same argument of you could go to Hell even if you have done nothing wrong, it?s called favoritism and the need to feel superior over your fellow man somehow. If an all powerful and wise God did exist there would be no reason to exclude people from Heaven just because they were not on a list or part of some secular religious group. He would know without such things whether or not you were worthy to be admitted to Heaven, he certainly wouldn?t need a list or book! And you can?t say it?s because you sinned since every culture has things that they consider a sin and yet another does not. It all comes down to social influences as to what is considered right and wrong. If I were to walk around in shorts in a previous era I would have been considered a sinner for having part of my legs showing! I may seem harsh, but I do not believe in God or any form of religion and what I have just explained is why. If God does exist then I am more inclined to believe that no single religious group holds the truth. Rather that each of them holds parts of the total picture. Please do not quote the Bible either. A document that has been repeatedly translated and printed by men cannot in all honesty be considered truth. Just study history and you will find that governments and religions have often altered texts to better suit their position in power.

Anime What anime ending confused you?
Horendithas replied to the Samaruimist's topic in Otaku Central
All things considered, the twenty six episodes of the anime Fruits Basket is only a segment of the whole story line. Akito is
struck with sickness and filled with spite towards the other zodiac members do to his illness. He cannot live a normal life, as the other zodiac members can live more of a normal life than he ever would. He finds controlling them his let-go of stress. So I am assuming.[/spoiler'] The whole story continues on in the manga. There are rumors of a second season of Fruist Basket, nothing definate yet, from what I know.
What will really be interesting if they do decide to make another season of Fruits Basket is if they try to resolve the fact that Akito
is really a girl.
It would be interesting to see if they modify it to match or somehow work in the fact that he's
really a woman.
-
I am familiar with it, only because it?s very difficult to treat. At least in the more severe cases that is. The biggest problem is that often it is mistaken for a fetish when usually it begins long before puberty. A good Analogy is: A transvestite wears women?s clothing for sexual gratification, and clearly a fetish. On the other hand a transsexual wears women?s clothing from the desire to ?become? a woman and some cases with SRS the transformation is complete, and this is not a fetish for a transsexual. I see true infantilism as more connected to the transsexual aspect of this analogy. In essence, for the true infantile individual, a diaper is not a fetish but rather a Transitional Object with it?s origins in early childhood. If you really want to know more about it here are two sites that explain it quite well: What is True Infantilism? and The Advanced Baby (Which is where I got the Analogy from) Anyway, the cases I've encounted have been with children who were abused or were witnesses to one of their parents being abused.
It?s reached the point that I?m sure there will be some plot twists coming up. It will be interesting to see if I have guessed correctly.
I?m thinking the same thing too. Especially after watching the episode where both Momoko and Yousuke are attacked by
the devil Pluie and his accomplice that stole Momoko?s ring.
Since Yousuke seemed to posses some type of
mysterious power that protected Momoko,
I?m betting that later on he either becomes
an ally like Limone or one of the Devils.
And what do you think of Limone? I?m thinking that he and
Kazuya Inaba are one and the same,
even with the difference in their hair lengths. They just look so similar and their personalities seem to match as well. I suppose I could just look online to find out, but I really hate to spoil what?s going to happen if I don?t have to.

I?ve seen it. Especially since Sailor Moon was one of the very first anime shows I ever watched. When I heard that Wedding Peach was supposed to be a rip off I decided to check it out. I can see why you like it. It is a bit on the goofy side and the way Momoko and Yousuke fight with each other is entertaining to watch. Perhaps its because I have a soft spot for Sailor Moon that I ended up liking this show in spite of it being so goofy. It really doesn?t take itself too seriously after all when the Angel Limone shows up by
descending on golden steps that descend from the heavens accompanied by organ music
I couldn?t help but laugh! And for an older anime character he?s pretty cute as well. You?ve got an advantage over me though as I?ve only seen the first 22 episodes so far. One of these days I?d like to see the rest.

Although I enjoy the illusion of having longer days, Daylight Savings Time doesn't really change anything. Except that we have to change our clocks every year. Technology has improved and people now have the option to use fixtures that use less energy. So it kind of makes the idea of Daylight Savings Time redundant. I think we should quit doing it altogether and instead focus on using energy more effectively instead of worrying about a single hour a day. If people were to simply switch to light bulbs that provide say 100 watts of light but only use 33 watts of power to do it, (something that you can actually do) then I would imagine that in the long run they would save far more power by saving 64 watts of power every time the light bulb is on instead of not using it one hour a day. In the long run that seems like a far better way to conserve power since you would be conserving all the time. Sure you have to pay nearly 7 dollars for the light bulb, but they tend to last 5-8 years instead of less than a year like cheaper light bulbs do. So for a small increase in price when you buy light bulbs, you not only don't have to change them all the time, you save money all the time on your electric bill and also conserve energy at the same time. Congratulations you now own all the anime merchandise you could ever dream of. There is just one problem. You accidentally ended up with every single anime item on the planet. Now all the hoards of anime fans are out for your blood and in the end they mob you and take all the anime back. Leaving you with nothing. I wish that I had my own space ship.
I like science in all, but sometimes it can be dumb. like when scienist try to prove that GOD didn't make us or the world. But science and also help with sickness too and trying to find a cure for disease. But some people try to find everything out or explain everything by science. science well help find some things out and explain them, but there are just some thing you an't going to find out or explain with science.
Actually the idea that there are things science can?t prove is highly unlikely. Just take a look at our history and you will see that things that were believed to be beyond comprehension are now commonplace. Like lightening, the use of electricity is now considered normal. It would probably be more accurate to say that there are things that won?t be explained in our lifetime. The problem here is that many sci-fi shows and other programs show things that are pure conjecture, like monsters & aspects of space travel, and we lack the understanding to determine if it?s something we will eventually understand/discover or if it?s just pure fantasy. I think that the question of God and the afterlife is the same, if it exists; it too follows the laws of science. Only these laws are so far advanced that our current level of knowledge doesn?t even come close to understanding it.

Welcome to OtakuBoards KAZUTA, I am closing your thread for a couple of reasons: First of all if you wish to discuss a paticular manga this is the wrong forum. The place to go for that is here: Manga Workshop The other reason is that here at OtakuBoards we emphasize conversation. The first post in a thread is especially important as it sets an example. This thread falls short of this. For example you could have explained what this manga is about and why you enjoy it. Please take a moment to read the Rules and FAQ located on the left side bar. lumpy3922, I am moving your thread to the existing Gravitation thread for the following reason: To avoid confusion we ask that you do not create another thread. Please go ahead and post in the current one no matter how old it is. Before you post any thread, please check the Official Threads Directory and perform a forum search if neccessary to see if there is already a thread on that topic. Which by the way already has the answer to your question:
Gravitation consists of thirteen television episodes plus a two-episode OVA. The OVA is not a direct sequel, but rather a side story (while I'm not sure where it belongs on the TV show's timeline, it'd be best to watch it after finishing the series). ~Dagger~
Anyway, please take a moment to review this sticky on How to Post in Anime Lounge . 1. If your avatar has a character, what race, age (if applicable) and gender is it? Male approximately 17-20 2. Would you say your avatar is masculine, feminine or both? Why? Seeing that it's a guy I would definitely say masculine. 3. Does it have mature or childish attributes? Mature. 4. What gender and race are you? White Female. 5. When you meet someone online, unless they specify, do you feel you naturally think of them as white? (Answering yes is not racist - this is much more common than you think) For the most part I do. It depends on their writing skills. Some people based on the way they structure their sentences I tend to assume that they aren't necessarily white. In that case most of the time they end up being foreign. Well foreign to where I live that is. 6. Do you roleplay? If yes, identify your roleplaying character in terms of race, history, gender and sexual preference (if applicable). If you are referring to RPG then yes I do. Usually I play a male character. I like creating dark, sadistic characters and tend to play the bad guy. I'm a psychology major and I find it interesting to base characters off of what I have studied in school. 7. Have you ever been mistaken for another race or gender or have been asked due to the lack of detail in your profile? Although it is not mentioned in my profile here, it is at myOtaku page that I am female. And yet I am still mistaken for a guy on a regular basis. Maybe it's because I tend to be more serious and don't act very girly online. 8. Have you mistaken others for being of another race, age or gender? How many times (if applicable)? Yes, it's hard to tell what someone is based on their user name. It doesn't happen very often, but I do it in real life as well. 9. What does your online nickname mean or how did you come up with it? My online nickname means exactly what the word stands for. The state or quality of being indifferent. When I first started joining different forums online I was flamed for liking anime that are considered yaoi and yuri. When I moved to OB I decided to change my user name. To me I was saying that if someone had a problem with my liking yaoi or yuri anime, then I was indifferent to their opinion as I saw no reason to change my opinion to fit what I felt was narrow-minded views on their part. I have not had that problem here at OB, but I like the change and decided to keep it. 10. Do you think people online tend to correctly guess your age, race or gender most of the time without being told? No, since almost every time I've been asked people get it wrong. They usually get the race part right, but rarely get my age or gender correct. 11. Do you think people tend to correctly guess your sexual preference without being told? Seeing that no one has ever mentioned it to me I honestly couldn't say if they actually got it right or not. 12. Would you feel threatened if people online knew your age, gender, race or sexual preference? If so, why? Not really. I'm a 25 year old white female who is straight. Can't say that people knowing that really changes anything. Now if you were to ask for my address, that's another matter, I'd just laugh and move on.

Welcome to OtakuBoards Jeawlcena, I?m closing your thread for the following reasons: 1 ? At OtakuBoards we emphasize conversation. And although mentioning which character you think is stronger is interesting, it doesn?t leave any room for an intelligent discussion. 2 ? Which brings me to the second reason. Since conversation is important we usually do not allow this type of thread as it usually ends up with people just listing the person they think is strongest. Especially when other than to list the names of the characters, not much else was discussed. 3 ? The first post in a thread is very important. It needs to set a good example and encourage further conversation. Something that your first post does not do.
Having finally seen it I really enjoyed Howl?s Moving Castle. I really liked how it was drawn as the way it was presented made it hard to pinpoint what era it was suppose to be from. At first I found Howl to be disappointing as it seemed like
his character lacked personality.
But then when you got to the end and see that he
lost his heart when he was still a child
it makes sense. It wasn?t a matter of
lacking personality but rather that once he lost his heart his body grew up but his heart (emotions) did not.
The thing that really surprised me was the scarecrow Sophie called Turnip Head. I was completely surprised when she
kissed the scarecrow and it turned into a prince!
I plan on watching it again to see if there were hints or clues that I missed regarding that the first time around.
I was thinking the same thing you were about Howl when I first watched it. I plan on watching it again since now that I know how it ends I can pay more attention to Howl's character. I too was surprised when Sophie
kissed the scarecrow and it turned into a prince
I remembered the brief mention at the begining of the film about
a prince being missing
but since it was never mentioned again I assumed it was nothing more than simple conversation. The part I found the funniest was when Sophie
was helping Howl up the stairs to get him cleaned up and his towl fell off! It was pretty funny how she carefully looked up to avoid seeing anything.
I also found it interesting how Sophie's
love for Howl kept interfering with the curse that was cast on her. She would start to go back to her own age and then her own doubt would seem to give the curse power again and she would go back to being old.
At least that's how it seemed to me. Hehe, now I feel the urge to watch the movie again.

the Samaruimist, You have been repeatedly told that the opening post of a thread requires quality and coherency. If your post is impossible to understand, nobody can continue a conversation from it. Proper use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation is essential. This makes it easier for people to read and understand your posts. It is important to read the Rules and FAQ since members are held accountable whether they have taken the time to read them or not. Welcome to OtakuBoards trucha, Since Otakuboards is a conversation based forum, thread quality is very important. A thread?s main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form, and avoid spam. We expect a little more in posts than what you have made available. If your post is the first in a thread, it is especially important to have post content and quality. I'm going to close this thread and encourage you to read the rules, and then join in any of the other conversations. Welcome to OtakuBoards twinkle, I am closing this thread for the following reason: Introduction, and ?Looking for friends? threads. Though the rules do not say anything regarding introduction threads, they are considered spam, and are discouraged here at OtakuBoards, for multiple reasons. Introduction threads leave little room for an intelligent discussion. Rather than every new member creating an introduction thread to come out and introduce themselves, it?s preferred if new members introduce themselves within their first post. That way introduction threads don?t fill up the forums, and it also gets new members involved in discussion immediately. Also, if you come across an introduction thread, please report the post rather than contributing to it. All of these factors also apply for any ?Looking for friends? type of thread. All introduction threads will be closed regardless of their contents. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. Thread Closed ~indifference
Hope you guys don't mind me resuscitating this thread 'cause I gotta ask one very important question: How do you chop onions without getting weepy? Someone used to dice onions for me (yes, I'm a diva even in the kitchen) whenever I cook but just last month she said I'd better start preparing them myself. I try to chop as fast as I can but apparently my eyes are hell-bent on making me give up my craving for onions. Got any tips for this Level 1 Onion Chopper?
There are several ways that can help. One is to do this: 1. Put the unpeeled onion in the freezer. 2. Leave the onion in the freezer for about ten minutes. 3. Remove the onion from the freezer and peel it. The onion can now be sliced, chopped, or minced without tears. I've actually tried this one and it works pretty good. If you don't have time for that using a very sharp knife helps since the job gets done more quickly. Lastly, if you wear contacts for what ever reason it shields your eyes and you don't get bothered at all. Though you have to be careful not to rub your eyes or then it gets between the contact and your eye and then you have to remove the contacts and clean them. Those are the only ways I know of. Though I don't wear contacts, I heard that one from a friend of mine who says it works.

Anime If you could be any anime character, who would you be?
Horendithas replied to Shadow Blade's topic in Otaku Central
Please give REASONS or EXAMPLES when posting in a thread like this: a simple name or list of names is not enough. The original poster set a good example:
I haven't posted a thread in quite a while so I thought that I will do one today. I thought of this subject when I sitting class listening to another boring lecture on the ancient civilizations of the world. And because of the anime fan that I am I started doodling on my notes. Then eventually started to daydream. I was thinking about which anime/manga charater I would want to be. So I came up with the top results: Anime: I would want to be Hatake Kakashi from Naruto 1.) He always keeps his cool- remains calm 2.) He's a fast thinker 3.) Good fighting skills 4.) Also gots a cool shiragan eye on the left Manga: I would want to be Roronoa Zolo from One Piece 1.) He's a master of the three sword fighting style 2.) Serious 3.) Cares a lot for his friends Yeah, well those are the charaters that I would want to be.
Lore already suggested this earlier in the thread: Please follow it. ~indifference
