Thank you everyone for your kind assistance. The longer I am a member of this community, the more I am impressed by how well run this place is. I feel more reassured as I now realize that the moderators here would not just freeze your account but would work with you to resolve the issue. I think I understand better why more modifications are necessary as not only does it increase the quality of wallpapers being produced, but helps to reduce plagerism if simple cut and paste wallpapers aren't allowed. I had another wallpaper I submitted that had what appeared to be a simple white background. Until this wallpaper was removed It had not occured to me that blending the pictures to fit on a simple white background would make it look like a simple paste and cut job. I actually modified 7 pictures and saved them seperately before putting them together on the white background. I had to use graphic effects to make it look like the pictures were fading out around the edges so there wouldn't be the harsh line of where the orginal picture cut off. I also added the effect to make it look like there was mirror images layered on top of each other. Though now I can see how the simple white background could give the impression that it was just a copy and paste job. I think I will re-do this one and the other one that was turned down now that I understand better. Thank you again everyone for your kind assistance. indifference EDIT: I re-submitted the wallpaper after working on it to give it some color and a border. I hope it fits the guidelines better this time. And again, thank you everyone. indifference

It was not my intent to claim that all people in Utah are intolerant, merely that more tolerance is needed here. I thank you SunfallE as you explained it much clearer than I did in my post. I am quite sure that lack of tolerance exists everywhere and not just here in Utah. Perhaps it would have been better to simply state that more tolerance among the people I know would be better instead of saying a paticular place needs it. I guess I think of Utah as being intolerant as I have not always lived here and I had not run accross the dislike of anime before my family moved here. Let me eplain: I had taken some manga books with me to High School and was reading it during my lunch break. It was of Sailor Moon, so I was beyond surprised when one of the teachers made a scene and confisicated the two novels I had brought with me. I was sent the the principals office and accused of bringing pornographic material to school. The principal and teacher did not even look at the book but instead burned both of them on the spot and warned that if I ever brought any again I would be expelled from school. It has been over five years since I was in High School so perhaps now they realize that just cause it's anime doesn't mean it's poronograhy.
Yeah, I think technically this is very borderline. According to our policy on plagiarism, this may require further changes/editing to make it sufficiently different from the source material. However, this largely does come down to opinion - one Moderator may feel it's enough, another may feel that it's not enough. Unfortunately there's no way around that. Are you aware that your account has been frozen, or was it just a warning?
The pm said it was only a warning. As it was the first time one of my wallpapers had been removed I was surprised as it had been approved. I just didn't want to get in trouble when I thought the submission was fine. Now that I know it is considered borderline in terms of modifications being made I will make sure to apply more changes before I re-submit it. Thanks again for your assistance.
It could either be a misunderstanding or a difference of opinion - one Moderator may have felt that the image wasn't edited enough from its original state. Or they may have received a complaint. If the wallpaper is gone I'm unable to see it, but perhaps you could upload it here and let me have a look at it.
That would make more sense that there could have been a difference in opinion. As I stated before, removing the wallaper itself does not bother me. I was more concerned about the statement regarding my account being frozen for such submissions. I didn't want to get in trouble when the wallpaper in question had actually been approved. And if one felt it was okay and another felt it needed more done to it I have no problem with working on improving the wallpaper. I really enjoy being a part of this community and I appreciate you taking the time to asisst me. Here is the background in question, though I plan on making some changes and re-submitting it in the future. Wallpaper

I have always enjoyed anime, manga and games that included yaoi. It is part of why I joined this forum as there is no tolerance for such things where I live. Many of the people here automatically assume that if it's anime related it must be pornographic in nature. They do not even realize that like shows produced here in america there are various levels between the mild to hard core stuff. I think Dagger has it correct in that yaoi is merely a label and does not truely represent what someone likes. It is truly ironic as here in Utah the state does not allow porographic materials to be sold at the stores. I get tired of the rude comments from fellow Utahans when I purchase a disk from a series like Gravation as they are too un-educated to realize it isn't pornograhy. And to stubborn to educate themselves. It's too bad more people can't adapt the attitude of I'm not against you, but I don't support you either. Tolerance is something that many people here in Utah are sorely lacking.

I personally think that suicide is both selfish and at the same time it is not selfish. It is easy to classify it as being wrong or selfish, but the actual reason?s behind someone wishing to die depends upon the person or circumstances behind their wish to die. For some it is a legitimate desire to end some form of suffering. For others it is an attempt to get attention. Everyone has his or her limits. It is easy to think or say you would never consider ending your life. But until you have truly met or experienced what would drive you to desire death how can you truly say it is selfish to wish to die? For each person it is different as one thing would be devastating to one yet not effect another person and vice versa. I have experienced some events in my life that I consider horrifying, yet they were not enough to make me feel the need to kill myself. On the other hand as I stated there are those who threaten or attempt to kill themselves merely as an attempt to get attention. It is this that makes suicide attempts seems selfish and pointless. It is sad as there are so many people who are suffering in some way that a little help would possibly keep them from killing themselves. I am quite sure that telling someone who wants to die that they are selfish will not help the situation. I am also equally sure that there are times you cannot do anything to stop them as no matter what you say they will make sure they follow through. I have to wonder how many people who felt the desire to kill themselves would seek help if the stigma of being selfish for even feeling that way were removed. I am quite sure that for many of them it is really a selfish desire to live.

It is not my intention to imply that people who do it are stupid or juvenile, merely that for myself I feel that doing it would be stupid or juvenile on my part. I say that, as I will not pretend to like something that is not enjoyable for me, as that would be dishonest towards my partner or another person who wanted to have phone sex with me. I did not explain that clearly enough in my post. I am not interested in phone sex, though I see no problem with others doing it.

In a forum this size, re-occurring threads are unavoidable, especially when you are a new member and want to discuss topics with others that have already been discussed before. In many cases you have no choice but to create a new thread as the rules tell you that after a certain time period you are expected to create a new one instead of posting in a thread that hasn?t been posted in for a very long time. It may be boring to members who have been here longer, but to those of use who have not, such threads like religion and suicide or even the how you found otakuboards are quite interesting. Especially since other forums I have been to lack the quality of posting that I have seen here. Finding a site where actually discussion is going on makes the wish to discuss such topics even more desirable as you have finally found a site where you can have a real discussion instead of the usual spamming in other sites that before long aren?t even remotely related to the original topic of the thread. There is nothing more frustrating that attempting to have a real discussion only to have it degrade into a pointless Spam session. Even after I have been here for a while, I am sure it will still be interesting to discuss with the newer members topics that have been discussed before as they will have a different outlook and opinion on the matter.
Let me just first say, i think cyber sex is really juvenile and stupid. But i was just wondering if you considered this cheating. I know some people who admit to doing it but they are in relationships. I think it is wrong, i would feel horribly guilty having phone sex with another guy who wasn't my boyfriend. So why is this any diffrent? Opinions Please.
I agree that it is really stupid and juvenile. I would definately consider it cheating as any form of sexual relations with someone other than your husband or current partner is a violation of the trust you have in each other. Claiming it is only 'Phone sex' does not change the fact that you are doing it with someone else. I suspose the only real difference is that the chance of getting transmitted dieases from the phone is non-existant. However if you have not committed to a relationship then I see no problem with it, though I still think it's stupid and juvenile as you stated.

An introduction forum would be wasted on a high quality-posting site like this one. It would not guarantee that introduction threads wouldn't be posted. It would also run the risk of encouraging the attitude that one needs to create such threads or must post in them first to get approval from the other members in order to join the current topics being discussed. What I find most endearing about this site is that you can join a discussion without the need to introduce yourself. As most introduction threads mainly consist of spamming, adding one would be like taking a step backwards for this place instead of improving it. The current atmosphere of anyone can step right in and feel welcome far outweighs the small problem of closing the occasional ?I?m new? thread that pops up.

I have another question about wallpapers submissions. I submitted one for approval yesterday and after it was approved and posted I got a notification saying it was deleted as it did not have enough graphic effects done on it. The pm warned that your account can be frozen for such submissions. I am kind of confused as to why such a warning was given. Unilke some of the members I have met here at myOtaku, my submissions are not automatically posted. Each and every thing I have posted has gone through approval before being posted. I do not mind that it was removed I am just confused why I would be in trouble for something that a moderator approved to be posted. Was it removed by a different moderator who was unaware that a different moderator approved it in the first place? I am fairly new here and I would hate to have my account frozen over a misunderstanding. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated. indifference
You don't have to completely resubmit a wallpaper to change its category. Just go to the page with the wallpaper thumbnail on it, where you can select what resolution you'd want to download it at, and there'll be a bold link that says "Edit Wallpaper" in the Expanded Information section. Click that and you'll be able to change the wallpaper's title and category. I believe it'll have to go through the submission queue again before the changes take effect, but it's still easier than resubmitting the whole thing.
Thank you for your assistance. I did not realize that you could request that the piece be modified. I have done as you suggested so that it may be put in the proper category. I greatly appreciate it as I did not mean to submit it to the wrong catgory. indifference

I would like to ask a question regarding wallpaper submissions. I submitted several today and when they were accepted I realized that one of them I mistakenly submitted it to the wrong category. It is the one with a red border that says Descendants of Darkness along the bottom underneath the picture. I meant to submit it to miscellaneous anime but I accidentally put it in video games as the other wallpapers I submitted were video game backgrounds. I am fairly new here and I do not know how to fix this problem. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated. indifference
