"If music be the food of love, play on; give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die." --Twelfth Night I won't be claiming to know anything about love any time in the near future, as some of you can well imagine. I know about family love, & friendship love, but romantic love? It's going to take a lot for me to really believe in that again. Maybe for others. But not for me. I don't see how I could possibly allow it to happen again.

Congratulations, I'm really proud of you. I never would do that myself! You know, the whole "taking orders" thing... I'd probably get court-marshalled the first month.

Tuesday's "Buffy" was okay, but when the evil priest stuck his thumb in Xander's eye & poked it out, I could've killed the writers. How could they do that to Xander?! "Shiny Happy People" aired this morning at 2:30 AM, which was not very good considering I didn't expect to suddenly see a nasty, maggot-ridden face with blood dripping from the eye. Gah, that freaked me out. I'm so glad I was watching my black & white TV, so I didn't see the full horror.

If you have a felony on your record, you can't own a gun. I think that's a good idea. Also, an illegal gun will get you an automatic five years in prison. Other than that, I don't really see the point of increasing the laws, because guns will always be around. And if they were made completely illegal, the only people to have guns in the U.S. would be criminals. There are so many illegal guns around right now, the country would go to complete hell. At this point, it wouldn't be wise to ban guns. We'd have to take extreme measures that would last for years before it would be safe to drastically change the laws. That's my opinion.

Who was your first kiss? Ryan, my first boyfriend. How old were you? We were both ten. How was it? Uh... scary. I didn't want to do it, but he talked me into it. It wasn't very private, either. It was so embarrassing. I've changed a lot since then, haven't I? What were the circumstances? He was my first big crush & I'd liked him forever. Finally, on the train ride home from Washington D.C. on a field trip, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We kissed going through a tunnel so afterwards the whole class was joking about "The Tunnel of Love." Gah. What was your Worst/Best Kiss? Worst: This guy, Zach, who was my boyfriend in 11th grade, was the most horrible kisser. He didn't move his lips at all, only tried to gag me with his tongue. Didn't he ever watch TV or porn or anything? Jeez. Best: Definitely Nick, who also de-virginized me. Tee-hee, he just had the perfect mouth in every way, & technique. We were together about 1 1/2 years. I think the longer you're with a person, the better the kissing gets. I didn't include the girls, because I've never had romantic feelings for a girl, & they didn't mean anything. This post is too long, anyway. Okay, Asuki, now you have to answer. ^_~

Okay, now I'm really damn confused. Are "Buffy" & "Angel" supposed to combine storylines for the end of the season, or what?

The things I want invented have already been thought of, but are probably impossible -- namely transporters & replicators. If there were transporters, we could all visit each other whenever we wanted. And with replicators, we could have all the stuff we ever dreamed of. It would make money pretty obsolete, which is great. I heard of this new microwave-type-thing that's going to come out -- only it doesn't use microwaves. It heats your food 4 times as fast, & uniformly, so that there aren't super hot & super cold spots. I wish they'd hurry up & come out with that. I get sick of stopping the microwave to stir my soup or rotate my pizza a ton of times.

Most of the people I know just enlisted... they're not over there yet, if they ever will be. I also know a paratrooper in Korea, but I guess that doesn't count. A friend of mine went over there to be an engineer (I think that's what he does -- works behind the scenes & stuff, setting everything up). He doesn't fight, though.

Ha! I love that. My mom just got a 2003 Mustang. I told her she should have gotten the Corvette, but she didn't like the way it looked as much. Oh well, at least she got one with manual transmission. Hate to admit it, but that thing rocks.

Ford: Found On Road Dead. Heh, there's another really good anagram about the suckiness of Fords but I can't remember all of it & it was obscene, anyway. The worst car I've ever had was an '87 Ford Taurus. Here are some of the reasons: 1) It leaked a quart of oil a week & there was a huge black stain on my parking space; 2) it would cut off when idling so when I got to stop lights & stuff, I had to throw it into neutral really fast & gun it; 3) it ate tapes; 4) it was the slowest car in the history of the planet; 5) the windsheild wipers only worked when it wasn't raining -- otherwise the driver's side wiper would fly off & I'd have to get out & look for it in the rain; 6) it went through 2 transmissions, & the first one I got ($1500) broke three days after the warranty ran out. The moral is, I can't believe anybody would like a Ford. I like old Nissans. They're reliable & easy to work on yourself.

Ignorant people don't piss me off very much... after all, they can't help it. But what really pisses me off is when they don't realize that they're ignorant. It's so disturbing to see the behavior of morons who think they're geniuses. Nothing gets on my nerves more than that. It really drives me to want to maim someone. The other thing is an enormous pet peeve: people who drip all over the floor of the bathroom after taking a shower -- especially if I'm wearing socks & accidentally step in it. That is just so ****ing rude & gross that I'm getting pissed off right now just thinking about it. >_

What is your favorite part of celebrating birthdays?
Lady Macaiodh replied to Cora Jane 2's topic in General Discussion
Getting drunk, drunk, drunk. I just found out my due date is Oct. 19th so I'll be able to get drunk on my birthday!!!! Unless I don't get out enough breast milk with the pump so I can party, in which case I will have to forgo. >_< Presents are good, too. I usually get money, which is spent on bills. Yay. -
Transtic, that doesn't sound like much of a boycott to me, lol... Nooo, I've never been & I really want to! I'm obsessed with roller coasters, the scarier the better. I've heard Disney World has some good ones. I usually go to King's Dominion in VA... it's great. But this is the first summer I won't be able to go because I'll be in the 3rd trimester for most of it. Bah!

Ach. I watched it once with my friend's daughter. So many things did not make sense. He took off his pants & gave them to his boss (?) & they stayed square. WTF, are they made of cardboard or what? Plus, they were underwater so how could that guy take a bath? The show drove me insane. I guess it was cute. It would have been good if I had been drunk.
Originally posted by Endymion It was an exaggerrated look into a dysfunctional family, which you just didn't see on TV much before the 1980s.
That was exactly why I liked it. In my house, it was utterly forbidden to watch it, so of course I had to. Everyone I knew thought it was the show of the devil. Fox did a reunion episode recently. It was pretty good but made me want to watch an actual episode. It still comes on FX, but I forget when. My friend Tabitha & I used to think Bud was hot. We always felt sorry for him that he got dissed so much & said one day we'd go on the show so he could finally get a date. Looking back, I wonder what the hell we were thinking, lol.

Just so you know, James wasn't trying to insult you. You're new here, so you just don't quite understand the rules, that's all. He was just encouraging you to use proper grammar to illustrate your point better. People will be more likely to take you seriously that way. It's not a big deal. I can see you are used to chat rooms or IM where you have to respond quickly, but here we try to spell things out. :) There is a valid point to everything you said, & something to be understood by us older members. Nobody is saying you're an idiot. That term is only allowed in political debates around here. ::said wryly::

Okay. Let me get this straight. See, I've been developing an interest in this stuff lately -- not because I want to play, necessarily, but because I want to know what the hell all you RPGers are talking abot. So, apparently different colored desks do different things (since all of you seem to prefer a particular color or combo of colors over another). What I'm wondering is (& I'm sure you will all stare at me as if I have two heads) why don't you just buy every single deck so you can do whatever you want? This is what I don't get. Some gamer friends I know have responded to my recent inquiries as to the progression of the games. It seems there are unspoken rules regarding who can do what when, & how powerful the player is supposed to be. But I thought, with games, you are supposed to take every advantage you can to be the best. I guess I'm thinking of sports, because the saying "Win or lose, it's how you play the game" comes to mind, & it seems almost applicable here, but nobody really wants to lose deep down. So the point is, why limit any characters at all for the sake of RPG etiquitte? If everybody controls their own character, or the plot, & everybody has to follow it... what's the point? I guess I don't get the "make the rules as you go along" thing. Or maybe I just have the wrong impresison. Alos, there seems to be, in the card games, a specific character who is in control. Who decides who is in control? I'm seriously not patronizing, here, I'm genuinely curious.

Before I get to Buffy commentary, there is one thing... AIEEEEE! I don't know about the rest of you, but I found the scenes from "Orpheus" between Willow & Fred so utterly annoying that I was forced to bash my skull against the wall on several occassions in order to retain my sanity. I'm not joking whatsoever. I can't emphasize enough that I actually felt myself on the verge of several aneurysms. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against either of these characters. (Okay, I lied. The only way I'd be able to stand Fred is if her voice lowered a few keys & she stopped staring around soulfully. And maybe not even then.) But I love Willow! She is so cool. And the scenes were so bad that I actually wished she'd shut up. I mean, she & Fred have this way of speaking that is quite cute in controlled doses, but... having a conversation? Together? No. I burned everything I owned that was pink after that episode, just out of protest. About Faith's life-span: I am not surprised at all that she's still around. First of all, I have no idea who selects the Slayers (higher powers?), but they did a pretty crappy job of it with Faith, since she exploited her powers for awhile. So the fact that she's a Slayer really doesn't make sense. Also, she's a great character, & it makes sense that she'd be able to squeak her way out of situations (ratings, people). For example, "Orpheus". All Angel had to do was give her a pep talk & she practically came back from the dead. Underlying trait: Faith didn't grow up with the best blessings in life. She's more of a fighter by nature than Buffy. Even Buffy herself has morphed after all that's happened, only Faith has a lifetime of that stuff. I never really believed she ever wanted to die, because then she'd be defeated. She's the type of person who would attempt suicide, but change her mind at the last minute, & use her last ounce of strength to save herself. Third, Slayers are supposed to be fighting constantly, every night if they can, or day. Faith laid low for a long time. She didn't fulfill her Slayer duties at all. She has risked herself dramatically, but not nearly as often as a typical Slayer would. I'm kind of iffy on the change to "goodness" the past couple of years but at least she still has the feisty attitude. If anyone should be in question regarding the longevity of a Slayer, it's Buffy. Thank god for Willow. And if you want my opinion, it's pretty screwed up that all the Slayers get robbed of it all, right at their prime of life. I mean, Buffy should be on the path to having more perfect blond god-like-in-beauty children. If she dies before having a kid, those unequaled Buffy Summers genes will be wasted. Maybe this is why Buffy gets in relationships with weirdos. She knows her life can never be normal, & that she could die at any minute. After all, it's her duty (gag). Spike? Die? ::adds several people to her **** list:: Spike has not been re-souled for very long & the need to drink blood is still overwhelming. Angel went through the same thing. It took him decades to get control of it. So I wouldn't be jumping to any conclusions about Spike's nature right now, since he's in an incredibly volatile state. His character has tons of development potential, but unfortunately we will probably not see it. And above all, I would like to see the Buffy/Spike situation resolved. It'd be nice for something to turn out happily for her romantically & I like Buffy & Spike better than any other match. Sorry for the long post, but I've been thinking about this all night. ::throws herself off cliff::

Gah, this happened today. Two girls who are like little sisters to me, Jasmine (16) and Erin (10) were in a grocery store parking lot. Now, this is Powhatan County, where tipping cows is a fun activity. I could see if it was a big city, but whatever. They were walking to the car when this group of 12 or 13 year old boys started yelling explicitly sexual things at them. Erin totally freaked & got to the car as fast as possible. She was really shaken up & told the driver to get out of there right away. He thought she'd just shoplifted or something, that's how seriously on edge she was. When Jasmine told me the story, it took awhile to register. After about 30 seconds I asked, "Wait a second. Erin, your sister?" The idea that 12 year olds scared a 10 year old like that was so weird to me that I didn't even get who Jasmine was talking about at first. I thought she meant one of her friends, or something.
Originally posted by Charles I recall seeing a story on the news about a woman who was attacked by an abusive man, probably a jilted lover or something. Hundreds of people heard her screaming. After all, she was attacked on busy streets. He stabbed her multiple times and left her lying helplessly. An hour later, he returned and finished her off. An hour later. Isn't that something? The fact that no one lifted a finger frightens me--and disgusts me.
Are you serious? ::Paces the floor:: I don't see how someting like this could happen. It reminds me of that scene in The Mexican where Julia Roberts' character is kidnapped. At first, I thought the scene was a little unrealistic, but apparently it's not.

How did you find OtakuBoards?
Lady Macaiodh replied to Senor Ding Dong's topic in General Discussion
I had been going to these other boards that had absolutely no rules whatsoever. All they did was flame. A typical thread was entitled "Reasons Why Goku Is Gay" & other such intelligent things. Somebody posted about TheOtaku & vwallah. Compared to that place, it was like a breath of fresh air. Which is kind of ironic, considering that OB wouldn't let someone post a link like that. So I guess the slack rules of that place came in handy for once. -
Does anyone think they're going to kill off Buffy by the end of the show, since there are all these potential slayers now? I have a feeling that's what they're going to do. Watinabe, your posts are really hard for me to read. Can you maybe use punctuation? I'm not trying to boss you around, though.

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I didn't want to bother any particular Mod by PMing them, so anybody who knows, can you please answer this? The thread can be closed as soon as somebody tells me. In the picture forum, I've noticed that people have been attaching their pics so that they are actually a part of the post, & you don't have to click the attachment link, like this. How is this done? I thought it might cut down on multiple posting for people with more than one picture if everybody knew how to do it. Thanks!
