1. Actually, the baby makes me even less likely to reconcile with Mike than ever. It really shook me up to discover that I was pregnant during the times he was beating me up. I could have had a miscarriage. :( My family's really happy. My mom had a sort of one-day mid-life crisis when she realized she was going to be a grandmother, but she got all ecstatic about the baby, since she wanted more kids but couldn't have them. My dad at first was basically like "Hmph. You need to quit smoking." But after a few days he started joking around about it, like yelling "Good morning!" when I'm puking & stuff (which to him is a way of saying he's glad & not upset). My brothers are all proud, like getting all their friends drunk & passing out cigars, telling everyone they're going to be uncles. Mike's on a huge ego trip. "My boys can swim!" & all that. He's actually been very sweet, but still frustrating as hell. (See "Ghost World" blog for more details.) But yeah, just getting it out of the way that I'm not going to let it cloud my judgment about the marriage thing. :)
2. I found out about three weeks ago that I'm going to have a baby. It's pretty confusing & not the greatest timing considering my marital problems right now, but I'm happy about it. And I actually quit smoking & stuff. Dear God, that's really hard to do. My due date is September 30th, which, if you've ever seen my profile, is ironically the two year anniversary of when I joined the Boards. I guess it's FATE. ::Falls Over Anime Style:: Just thought I'd give us an upbeat major-life-event thread for once. This is me practically every day:  It's weird, though -- I don't mind it at all!

Heheh. :naughty: Hey, any excuse will do.
4. Just so everybody is clear, Harry has posted several times since the thread everybody's referring to... seven times, in fact. This is meant to neither support nor refute the "Harry is Lying" theory, just letting you all know he's still around. :)
5. I registered Sept. 30, 2001. That's kinda weird, I just realized that's my baby's due date... (Though it's 2003, of course.) Don't worry, my username & avatar will never change. Therefore I will always be recognizable.
6. First, ignore what some people have said & turn to your faith. It can be a great comfort at this time. Now for the harsh realities: Be glad that it didn't work this time & get her some help fast. I can't imagine that the psych ward of that hospital (or another) wouldn't keep her for at least a few days. You can ask to have her green-warranted if she poses a threat to herself or others, which obviously she does. Maybe the reason she tried to act happy before was to hide what she was going to do. Or maybe it was spontaneous, I don't know. The real question is, do you think she's planning to do it again? How has her general reaction been -- remorseful, thankful to be alive, mad to be alive, resisting treatment, accepting treatment, etc? If you notice any signs whatsoever, report it to a doctor immediately, before she is released, like the thing about "I could have pulled it off." How did anyone know what she did, anyway? Another reason she needs to be hospitalized is so she can go to group meetings. Suicide attempters (heh) feel alone, hopeless, & helpless & need to know there are others who feel the same way. Sometimes there are even speakers who can attest to the fact that they can beat their depression with the proper treatment. Advice for when she comes home: I'm assuming you & your family will be watching her more closely, & she might get irritated at you. Don't let it hurt your feelings. In her mind, it's a control issue, all of this is. I hope she will voluntarily check herself into psych care, & not have to be forced. But it is essential that she go. I know what I'm saying is a lot of pressure for you & mostly practical advice rather than emotional support but you need to be strong since her life is at stake. I know it's totally unfair. You're going to need to talk to a counselor yourself as soon as you can, & be sure to lean on your family. You all need the support of each other more than ever. Sorry if this sounds harsh. I can be blunt at times.
7. I suppose technically she should have had the right to wear it, but that's really up to the school. In this case, the shirt could cause problems. For every person who is radically against the war, there's someone who radically supports it. This could lead to disruption & violence. Some people consider an anti-Bush opinion to be pro-terrorism. Keep in mind that the some of the people I'm speaking of are the same people who would beat up or harass another person just because they're Muslim. Rationality is not a factor here, & the school is trying to prepare for anything that may arise. Now, if she was forced to remove it because the principal didn't agree with it, that's totally different (even though it was not the brightest idea in the world to wear it in the first place).
8.
Originally posted by treton_noir here's one from dogma... rufus(chris rock) is explaining how the dead watch the living and know everything about them. Jay: oh! say something about me. Rufus: you masturbate constantly. Jay: aw, man. everybody knows that sh*t. tell me something that nobody knows. Rufus: when you do it, youre thinking about guys. *Silent Bob slowly turns a disgusted face at Jay* Jay: not all the time!
::Bethany enters the strip club:: Bethany: What are you guys doing here? Jay (pointing at silent Bob): Trying to prove to this guy that I'm not gay!
9. You don't even know the 1% of it. It seems as if I was born into these situations...
10. The main thing that gets me really excited is when I'm watching a storyline, like on TV or in a movie, & something really sweet & shocking happens. I.E., a few days ago, I was watching "Angel" & they thought they had put Angel's soul back but when Cordy opened the cage & said "You're not Angelus" he grabbed her, transformed, & said "Guess again." Then it went black for commercial. That was probably the coolest thing that happened all week. I started kicking my feet in the air screaming "I knew it!" & I was on a huge adrenaline rush for an hour. God, I can't wait til next week! I'm getting excited right now. I'm sorta jealous of all you caffine/sugar fanatics, because I'm diabetic & can't have it. I have to get my rushes elsewhere by doing things like watching Angel.
11.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve What I think makes someone gay is not a sexual attraction, but a sensual. You can find Brad Pitt attractive, but could you date him? Live with him the rest of your life, kiss and make love to him? Thats what I think makes someone gay. The sensual attraction of love to someone, not just a physical attraction of what "looks sexy" to them.
Yes! I completely agree. I've been trying to explain this to people for years. If you couldn't fall in love & be partners with someone of the same sex then you're not gay. But some people just freak out when they find someone attractive. Yeesh! I think there are a lot of guys out there who are attracted to other guys or find them hot, but they refuse to admit it... even to themselves. They won't even allow it to enter their minds because they think it means they could be gay, when in reality it doesn't mean that at all!
12. Posers are just trying to be liked. I don't really hold it against them. Most people will eventually grow out of it. Two-faced people, on the other hand, are universal. They are an infestation. And their motives usually lean to the malicious side... like starting rumors or turning people against each other for some sort of personal gain. The absolute worst are the people who want to be seen as nice to everybody. Believe me, I know plenty of these. You'll pass them in the hallway & they'll smile & say "hi" but in reality they think you're a loser & begin talking trash about you as soon as you're out of ear-shot. I'd much rather them tell me straight-up. Then I can add my own two cents. Insecurity rules the lives of both types.
13. I personally believe that he likes kids so much because he doesn't trust adults (who could blame him?) & sees children as innocents, yet to be corrupted by the world. I think he really cares about them more than older people, & feels safe around them as friends. Also, considering his mindset, he can probably relate to them better & sort of sees himself as a little kid. I guess he could be a perv, but I really don't think so.
14. "Dogma" had some of the best lines of all time, especially when Jay wakes up after God kills Bartleby. But I can't quote it because he says the word "****" too many times. Another-- Jay (to Bethany as she storms off): Hey, guys like us don't just fall out of the sky, you know! ::Rufus falls out of the sky & lands on the pavement:: Jay (looking up): Beautiful big-tittied naked chicks don't just fall out of the sky, you know! ::Nothing happens:: Jay gets all the best lines. Heh, I love that movie.
15.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel (I think on a whole, music was stagnating at that time - in terms of what was popular at least.) I'm starting to think that's all happening over again honestly.
I completely agree. With a few exeptions, it's all sounding the same. Why, Kurt, WHY?!?
16.
Originally posted by treton_noir "It's been kind of hard to miss because of all the tributes on TV." im almost glad i missed them. if i had watched them, i would be horribly depressed for days. i always get that way when i see kurt on tv. does anybody think thats weird? my therapist does... >.>

18. I read the other thread too & I had to add something. Yulia just turned 18 & she's the youngest, so nobody can really say anything about child pornography. They're just kissing, for god's sake. If that's the standard, practically every TV show in the world is porn. The part that disgusts me is that I read on their message boards that Bush is trying to ban Tatu totally in the US, not just the video. You'd think with the impending war & all, he'd have better things to do with his time that worrying about 2 girls in Catholic school outfits kissing. Another example of his incessant need to cater to the extreme right. I'm pretty impressed that Tatu'd be so blatant about it. I personally haven't seen a video like that before, really. Others just sort of hint at it. & having the public gather around the fence in shock & fascination sort of said to me: "So, yeah, we're lesbians. What's the big deal." They didn't really notice people staring. I think the video is passionate & the arrangement helps you get into the song. I heard to song before I saw it, & thought it was good. It made me want to dance. & I love their voices & how they harmonize. Those girls can really sing.
19. Another thing... once, the air conditioning system caught on fire & we were all outside singing "The Roof is on Fire" by the Bloodhound Gang, especially the "we don't need no water" part. The year after I graduated, Heritage was condemned as a fire hazard. It would have taken $1 million to get it up to par. So they rented another building & everything got vandalized in the new one a few months later. I mean, absolutely everything was trashed. Even all the equipment, like computers & stuff. One of the students did it, but they never got caught. You can tell this school was well-loved.
20. I knew I shouldn't have slept til 6:30 pm. I missed it all! But I was exhausted. Then again, it's never warm enough for me until I can go swimming. I'm a huge river rat & can't wait til I can go back to Belle's Island! Maybe I'll get an indoor pool membership or something. Meh, I wouldn't have gone anywhere today, anyway.
21.
Originally posted by SpyderDragon I don't believe people are gay. People choose whether or not to do homosexual things but noone is gay. Just my opinion... 22. As some of you might know, today (Feb. 20th) is the birthday of Kurt Cobain. He would have been 36. It's been kind of hard to miss because of all the tributes on TV. Out of respect, I just wanted to say something. Love him or hate him, music would not be the same today without his influence. Thanks for everything, Kurt. 23. I've been in a few bad ones & several not-so-bad, but I want to tell about this one my brother Jon witnessed. He was with his friend on Broad Street, which is a big main road through the city with lots of stoplights. His friend's car broke down suddenly & they got out to look at it. Another car, being driven by a teenage couple, made a u-turn to stop & help them. But as they did so, a huge mack truck ran a red light and plowed into the side of the couple's car. It flipped a bunch & was totally squished. Jon & his friend ran to help. The girl wasn't wearing her seatbelt, otherwise she would have died, but as it was she was thrown into her boyfriend's lap & had broken her back. The boy was in shock, kind of passing out & hyperventilating. They were both covered in blood. When Jon looked in, she looked up at him & just said "Please help me." He was just like, "Ahh, damn," because it was obvious she couldn't be moved & there was nothing he could do. So he just stayed & talked to her until the ambulance came. It was pretty ironic because they had turned to help my brother & that's how they were rewarded. He still feels sort of responsible to this day. I think the girl ended up paralyzed, and the driver of the truck got a DUI after Jon testified against him. I'm glad I wasn't there, that'd be really hard to witness.
24. I know this is hard advice to follow, but just try to let it roll off you. Some people get singled out for rumors more than others. They could be joking or they could be trying to get to you. If you show them you don't care, they might lay off. But there's no predicting the responses of immature kids. The best thing to do is beat them at their own game. Or you could get all mean & hard, then they'll be afraid to say ****!
25. Nooooo! Furiza is the best. I know he wasn't as strong as those other two, but I liked his style. Cell & Buu kinda came out of nowhere to destroy everything & were created by other people, but Furiza was the Lord of the Universe for quite some time & killed & enslaved way more people before he was taken down. He lasts the longest in a single fight (Furiza vs. Goku) & has some of the coolest powers (like telekinesis). Also, when he got back up after the Genki-Dama to shoot Piccolo & kill Krillin, it was one of the most dramatic scenes in all of DBZ. He inspired more fear as a whole, in my opinion. Plus, he's smarter. Cell & Buu use mainly raw power, but Furiza was basically an even match with Goku (give or take) & had to use much more strategy, making the fight way more interesting. Also, he's so purdy in final form...
