i cannot even really explain how this thread has made me feel. i've never really understood the concept of "populartiy". the idea that someone bases their whole existance on what other people think about them in high school.... it's pretty mystifying. guess what. it's not going to matter for very long. lol that's why OB is cool. we don't judge each other on appearances here. btw, cera, you rule. yeah, i know, that doesn't even describe it. i'm just feeling particularly.... dead... tonight.
Originally posted by Panny Chan ;) This is something that my aunt told me: "All men are dogs." I know that this is not true but it seems that all the good men are either hiding or extinct. Are there any good men out there? If so, where are they? This is just a few questions that have been on my mind that are in need of asking...
i'm sorry, i did not read this whole thread. i have more guy friends than girl. i think it's a pretty gross generalization to ask what's wrong w/ guys. we are all human beings w/ flaws, & there's no gender that's better than the other. i understand that you've probably been hurt, panny chan, but if you listen to your aunt, you're taking some really bad advice. there are really lots of good men out there. i wish i could elaborate, but i get tired of hearing this kind of thing.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. Try never greeting a person, and see if that gets you anywhere. A simple "Hello" can take you a long way. Whether you travel that way is the choice you and the other person would have to make.
this is so true. the only way to get to know people is to introduce yourself. i don't know why people fear rejection so bad. it's kind of ridiculous. you'd think people were getting killed or something.

wooo, baby! i just heard shinshoku & it was sweet. although it took me time to smoke about 12 cigarettes to DL, it was definitely worth it. i've never really heard music like that before. ::goes off to figure it out on guitar.::

::snatches up vegeta-sama (dbz), heero yuie (gundam wing), & yuske (yu yu hakusho?), & runs:: but if i were to pick a female, it would be ryoko (tenchi).

wristcutter: did you put the titles of your favorites in caps, or is that just random? i'm trying to figure out which ones to try, since i have the slowest computer in the world. though i will take your advice, transtic. this will be my first time hearing japanese music, btw. i've been meaning to, but... (see above). yes, i suck.
Originally posted by James Oh believe me, I know what it's like. I'm just saying that most people who threaten to commit suicide are people who are primarily doing it to seek attention from those around them.
ah, yes, i get what you're saying now. that is true. people go through the motions of trying to commit suicide, in order for someone to find them & freak out, or something. but i think "attention-getters" is a rather harsh term (even though that is essentially what they are). many people do it out of desperation, as a way of expressing to their loved ones how much pain they're in, either as a cry for help, or to be vindictive. either way, i hope those people get the help they need.

i shaved my head a long time ago, but it was on purpose. :)

I think this might've been done before, but......OtakuFound.
Lady Macaiodh replied to Genkai's topic in General Discussion
i was posting on these other dbz boards but all everyone did was flame each other & make unbelievably crude comments about the characters they hated. it was really pointless. i made this thread that asked if anyone actually wanted to talk about anime, & the response was "no, go to otakuboards." so, vwallah. it's a lot better here. people sometimes complain about the rules, but they actually make this a much more civilized, even intellectual, place. -
what's really going to happen to me after i die? i think i obsess about that a little too much.
-
okay, now this is really crossing the line. one of the many great things about dbz is toriyama's sense of humor, & the name associations are priceless. now they're ruining that too.

i wanted to talk about this b/c it's been bothering me. lately, it's really struck me how often people use each other. many people are in relationships for that exact purpose. that's the main thing i question. bonds are formed for the express purpose of people using each other. it's really screwed my head all up. i feel like i don't trust anyone anymore. it makes me wonder if i will ever find someone who is true.
Originally posted by Mist Of course no one is ever really safe, but I was implying that I felt safe.
sorry, i said that wrong. i meant that there's no point in worrying. but that's easier said than done, i know.

not quite sure how to answer this one, but i'll try. i was too afraid that i was going to hell if i did (even though i really don't believe in hell), & also emotionally destroying my loved ones, so i never made a serious attempt. but i still regret even that b/c my arm is all scarred up, & it's really embarassing & ugly. i also wouldn't do it nowadays b/c i want to see what happens next. i've learned from my mistakes & hardships. it doesn't mean i won't make more mistakes, or worse ones, or that bad things which i can't control won't happen... but i'm growing more every day. i look forward to the future.. it's almost scary, but exhilerating. it's like when you're about to go over the first hill of a roller coaster. & no matter how horrible things feel, i know i'll feel better later. plus, i wouldn't want to die feeling miserable.
Originally posted by DarkOrderKnight Finally I quieted them with a loud yell and said something that totally confused and angered them. I said "If you think I'm wrong isn't it destiny that you think I am wrong!" They all shut up except for the few that made fleeting arguments. Then my teacher tried to get me on the debate team.
rotflmao! :starts clapping: that was great. my god, i certainly hope everything isn't destined. if not, my life must be god's soap opera or sick joke. real amusing, big guy. no, i can trace back my life & figure out why something i or someone else did caused things to happen. it's just cause and effect. i put that badly, but i hope you know what i mean. &, also, free will is an integral part of religion. if destiny exists, then we have the right to refuse it. i used to have one awhile back, but i only wrote it it a few times, then forgot about it. i think it got deleted. it was interesting, though, b/c i wrote in a completely different style than if it was a personal journal. it read more like a biography or something.

it's hard to say... i joke around a lot in real life.. here i'm more serious, as hard as that is to believe. i'm more open here, whereas irl i use humor to sort of deflect what i really feel. i like the anonymity of the boards that i can't enjoy irl. plus, i'm way cruder irl, i cuss all the time & stuff like that. i'm a big party animal, which is kind of hard to express here. i'm very outgoing in both places, though, & i love to meet & get to know new people. it's a big part of my personality, so i really don't consider myself generally all that different here.

i like the movies of his books better than the actual writing. i usually like a really witty style, though, & his books are too depressing for me.
Originally posted by wrist cutter What a waste of questions. If you only had three, I'd pick ones with hard answers...
that actually is a pretty hard question, b/c if i had known, i would have saved myself a good bit of heartache these last several months. some of these seemingly-elementary problems don't go away. being used for sex... esp. when you have strong feelings involved... can really damage a person. in reality, it is a good question to ask.

these are pretty cliche, but... 1) final scene in akira when tetsuo is losing control begging for help, & this like, slow deterioration of his sanity before that... good lord, it gave me chills. it was just horrifying. 2) "final atonement" from dbz always reeeeally gets to me b/c it's the first time vegeta ever showed "love" for anything, & poor trunks didn't even know what to do when he was getting hugged. then he goes & suicides, & it was all for nothing!! you have to understand vegeta, though, b/c it was sooo unlike him. actually, the whole post-majin-transformation stuff is really sad to me, b/c of the stuff he talks about.

my favorite animes have little technology or magic. the characters use their own energy/skill. amazing mental powers (telekinesis is best) are a must. aliens are good. love story, but subtle.
-
vegeta-sama is the sexiest character of all time, i don't care what anyody says. i don't know what it is, but something about him... :shivers: for example, there are better animes than dbz, but it's my favorite just b/c he's in it. & i seriously cry whenever he dies. no, i am not insane.

the best war movie ever is Full Metal Jacket, hands down. it blew my mind, & i generally hate war movies. saving private ryan was okay, but there was way too much violence.
Originally posted by Mist Alright... Question # 2: I would ask my boyfriend: Boobs or personality? (Don't answer that...)
yeah! that's what i would want to know, if any certain guy wants me for the right reason. that'd be a cool power, but probably pretty depressing.

no one is ever really safe, though. you could have a heart attack, or die in an accident, or... practically anything.

plus, you have to take into account that this happens all the time. "there's nothing new under the sun." pretty much everything's been done before. hopefully, old ideas are expanded upon, rather than just copied.
