What does your sig/avator/user name mean?
Lady Macaiodh replied to Utena_Tenjou's topic in General Discussion
username: Macaiodh was the original surname of my ancestors in Scotland. they were royalty but wrongfully stripped of their titles in 1826 & kicked out of the country. so, if that had never happened, my real name would actually be Lady Macaiodh. avatar: i've had this thing forever & i'm never changing it. people tell me they immediately recognize me by it. it's the incomparable washu from tenchi, the scientific genius!! i'm a chemistry major & hope to be an absolutely mad scientist one day. plus, washu sort of looks like me (i have long red hair, close enough). sig: uhhh.... i change the damn thing so much... usually it's just a favorite quote of mine. i think it's a sublime song right now, plus there's a pic i drew of vegeta (my fave anime character of all time). & of course i had to make tribute to my beautiful husband. oh my god, i cannot even believe the things i'm reading. first of all, i happened to notice that everyone who is judging weed (who have never really done it, mind you) are making all sorts of assumtions based on what they've been told by the media, d.a.r.e class, & basic anti-marijuana advocates. yeah, they're real unbiased. "don't knock it 'til you've tried it." unless you've been there, don't act like you know what you're talking about. secondly, i never said that weed is good for you. everyone knows it's not. i just think it's rather audacious that alcohol is legal & marijuana is not. weed is a lot less dangerous than alcohol. i've never heard of anybody killing anyone in a car wreck, ODing, or getting a deadly disease from marijuana. even in the cases where somebody died of cancer who smoked weed, they usually smoked cigarettes too. so who's to say what they actually died of? from experience, the people i know who smoke weed who don't smoke cigarettes are in a lot better health than the ones who do smoke cigarettes. so i haven't seen any evidence w/ my own eyes that proves weed is worse than cigarettes. third, son goten is right. there is no way prohibition is going to fly. illegal distribution of alcohol was so rampant during prohibition, the govt. was forced to make it legal again. they could use the same logic for weed... you don't see dealers on the corner selling alcohol. that's b/c it's legal. gangs & "mafia" type organizations make their money off of drugs. if weed was legal, they'd have a lot less business in that area. crime would drop so much, it wouldn't even be funny. lastly (& this was the thing that really pissed me off), i have a big problem w/ someone implying that pot-smokers are stupid b/c they smoke. yeah, it's not great for you... so what? neither is eating fatty foods. i know plenty of potheads who are really smart. gotenks probably already didn't know how to type correctly. pot probably didn't have anything to do w/ it. i have been smoking weed for years & i don't think i'm too dumb. i actually think i'm very articulate. i may make a typo here & there, but so does everybody. so if you want to use potheads as an example of what weed does to you, why don't you look at some people who are smart & successful? but, no, nobody looks at those people. & i find it rather hilarious that this certain someone who criticized gotenks' typing errors supposedly b/c he smoked weed... doesn't even know how to spell the word "tobacco." don't start, james. just b/c you're in charge, doesn't mean you're perfect. practice what you preach & don't make gross generalizations. i'm sorry, but i was highly offended by what you said. & i'm actually being nice about it right now.

oh my. these are my original answers. i did not switch anything. What They Don't Want You to Know In order to understand the neo-natal dust bunny theory you need to realize that everything is controlled by anal-raping aliens made up of moesha fans with help from otakus. The conspiracy first started during the grunge explosion in deep space nine. They have been responsible for many events throughout history, including the kennedy assassination. Today, members of the conspiracy are everywhere. They can be identified by the crumpling up of foil. They want to kick in the nards the jehovah's witnesses and imprison resisters in rod stewart concerts using boats from the river Styx. In order to prepare for this, we all must take a dump. Since the media is controlled by rosie o'donnel we should get our information from rush limbaugh. i thought the taking a dump part was the funniest. but PLEASE don't get your info from rush limbaugh!

Soap grinding shoes?????? (cool or dorky)

i've never heard of these things before, lol. it sure would be funny to see someone try something w/ them! question: why don't they just use a board? -
thank you piro, anna, & dark_apocalyps, & i think aries sent me one, too, so thanks... you guys are the best. i looooved yours piro, you know me so well. & anna... heh, i already have some of those, but w/out the fur... :naughty: queen asuka, i know the webpage will be great...:) everybody can come! just let me know if you're going to be in richmond, va, on july 3rd, lol. & ryan... don't ever insult my hair! you know that's my weakness! lol, jk. one more thing: i saw a few of you mention that "if you want to do drugs, do it on your own time, not at school" as a reason why drug-testing at school should be no problem. but you'll still test positive whether you're doing it at school or at home. you don't have to be high right at the time of testing. you can test positive for marijuana two weeks after you smoked it. & if you accidentally inhale second-hand smoke, it's possible you could test positive for that, too.

okay... i guess i was thinking of this as a civilian situation b/c i graduated 5 years ago (wasn't thinking).. so i see your point. but i went to a really strict private school, & some of the stuff the faculty got away w/ would blow your mind... so this is kind of a touchy subject to me. &, btw, on the streets, police have to have probable cause to search you, otherwise the evidence is inadmissable (that is if you don't get a crooked judge). ::walks away muttering about the crapped up legal system:: ::comes back:: i know i'm going to sound like a jackass to you guys, & please don't jump on my case, but this whole thing sucks b/c drugs should not be illegal in the first place, it should be regulated like alcohol. at least then the terrorists wouldn't be able to make money off of it & crime would drop. i won't get into it. Vote Libertarian...
Originally posted by James Well technically, it is unconstitutional, because you're including a religious statement in a state text.
what exactly do you mean by "state" text? i'm thinking of something, but i want to be absolutely clear on the meaning before i say it. also, let me clarify what i mean in my last post. i wasn't saying an opinion about whether it is right to say the pledge over the speakers... i was merely commenting on all the trouble it stirred up. right now is not the best time to change that sort of law. i guarantee that if we weren't in a time of war, people wouldn't be going this nuts.

ah, hell, i'll admit that it did do something for me once. i'm a writer & i was going through some really bad times where i couldn't concentrate enough to write anything good at all. all of my stories were really, really depressing, & that just made me feel worse. but after i got familiar w/ dbz, i started getting all kinds of ideas for dbz fanfics. i've got about 3 5-subject notebooks chock full of them from that time. & since i was writing about fighting a lot, it helped get out a significant amount of aggression. basically, it was a really good escape when i needed it. fantasy, you know? after that, i could write normally again. plus, as you all know, i have this mad crush on vegeta. &, to gotents, there are a lot worse role-models to have than mirai-trunks, right? not many real people could ever be that kick-a*s!
Originally posted by Altron Gundam LOL, yes LM, you make some good points. LMAO!!!
oh, my, a compliment from altron, i must be dreaming! but i thought about this after i signed off (i think about this sh*t waaay too much:) )... if goku had beaten vegeta right away, buu never would have hatched. then goku could have just killed babi-dee & doubler (?). then kai could have figured out what to do w/ the ball, like hide it in the corner of the universe (or maybe goku could have just destroyed it) & none of it would have happened. so basically he sacrificed the lives of his family & friends & everyone on earth so he could fight w/ vegeta... and that's... just... DUMB! more proof of the idiocy of goku. (no offense to goku fans, granted, he's a great fighter, but about dumb as a post.) what was the point of this thread again?

you guys are missing the whole point. it's not even about drugs. first they can randomly test athletes, then they find an excuse to test all students, then all people, then they can bust up into your house w/out a warrant, then the next thing you know martial law is in effect. i'm exaggerating, of course, but the more of our rights are stripped away, the less freedom we have. jeez, isn't there another thread going on right now about how the right to say the pledge in school was taken away... & everyone is mad about that? so what's the difference? just b/c this stripped right to privacy doesn't effect you, you don't care?!? i find that rather outrageous. i think it's b/c the word "drug" was mentioned or something. btw: if a teen wants to do drugs, getting kicked off the team is not going to stop him. kids are remarkably resourceful when it comes to this sort of thing. so, SuperSayian, you're basically talking about an "eye for an eye" kind of thing? i suppose that's a belief people have to decide for themselves. or maybe i'm misunderstanding you? -
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy I can answer that. A lynching is the victimization of an innocent person (usually based on ethnic prejudice). The death penalty is punishing someone for an actual crime. Thus, it's unfair to compare the two.
yeah, i see what you mean. "lynching" isn't quite what i was talking about. i was just using that as an example of those primitive methods used many years ago. and one more reason why i don't agree w/ capital punishment: can you all honestly say w/ surety that 100% of those executed have been guilty? i don't have that much faith in the legal system at all. -
some people are really pissed about this whole pledge thing, though. i was being forced to listen to rush limbaugh at my mom's house today, & he had a HUGE fight with a buddhist woman about it. she said that it embarasses her kids to have to sit down or not say it when the other kids are (which is why that guy filed the suit in the first place). rush said that they could substitute "buddha" for god in their own mind, since the pledge never names a specific god... it could be talking about whoever god is to you. but she blew up at that, b/c buddha was not a god, only an enlightened human, & buddhism teaches that every human has the potential to be, in a sense, another buddha. the fight got really out of control, but i could see her point. i don't think the pledge should be disallowed in schools, but i did see what she was saying. either way, though, this thing is not going to fly, esp. not now, esp. when 75% of americans have been displaying the flag on their cars, houses, t-shirts, ect. there is a huge uproar over it, people see it as an outrage in this time of war (unpatriotic), & even both democrats & republicans agree that the 9th US circuit court crossed the line. with re-elections coming up, they are going to do whatever the majority wants about this. what some people don't realize is that this never should have been passed in the first place. this was a decision made by a panel of only 3 judges, with a 2-1 vote! & the outcry is so great that the judge who wrote the order (one of the three) has put a stay on the law until the appeal to a higher court goes through. he's basically washed his hands of the whole situation. smart political move there, but dumb to get himself into it in the first place. this isn't about whether the pledge should be said or not... it's about being "p.c." & the judges thought they were sticking up for a girl being made fun of by doing this. but it was a lose/lose situation, esp. in a time of war. if they hadn't done this, the press would have jumped all over it by saying the girl was being traumatized or something. those judges were probably beating their heads against the wall as soon as they were handed this case. sorry this is long, but people need to understand the politics behind it.
Originally posted by Jamvis Two, it would be really better if we stuck with the guitillones... i mean WHACK! instantly dead as opposed to the really expensive drug that takes 3 seconds  I mean, sheesh... its not like we cant surgically put the head back on for burial.... lol
**vein starts bulging out of head** **passes out** no, seriously, i know it was a joke but this proves it exactly. the death penalty is just barbaric. if you think about it, what's the real difference between, say, a lynching & lethal injection? the end result is still the same. just b/c we've come up w/ more high-tech ways to execute, it doesn't mean we've made any real advancements as a species or culture. -
good god, aug. 2nd?! i hope you guys got out at the beginning of may! omg, by then i'll be married... **freaks out** phew, i'm better now. sweet pic as always, it's going in my scrapbook w/ the other! you should put that in the art section. well, we're getting off topic, sooo...

don't worry, i would never desert the boards, esp. not the angels! we have the duty to adam, remember? lol all of you on the boards have kept me sane over these past months, & you are too important to me to just forget about! i've barely invited anyone i know, but i'd probably invite almost every person here. oh, anna & tori, i'm coming to georgia in the middle of august, & i'm forcing my road trip buddies to stop & visit you, so i'll see you in a couple of months.

i don't have to worry so much about food as i do the sun. all the women on my mom's side are really fair, including me, & then i got this scotch-irish from my dad's side... i am pretty pale. my mom had to get cancer removed from her skin about 10 years ago, so it made me really neurotic about getting burned. i try to stay out of the sun, but i've gotten so addicted to swimming lately that now i use 45 spf sunscreen. that works fine, as long as i reapply often. people our age need to realize that getting really tan now can be harmful in the long run. you can always tell which women at the beach tanned a lot as teenagers, b/c their skin is leathery & wrinkled. i'd rather have a more youthful appearance when i'm older & not have to worry about skin cancer than have a tan now. :)

What is the most embarassing moment in your life
Lady Macaiodh replied to a topic in General Discussion
come on, tori! everyone else is telling! i mean, there's no way it could be worse than mine. hmm, babygirl & justin, doesn't it seem like there are a lot of partiers on these boards? we need to have an otaku reunion so we can finally all party together instead of just talking about it. but, alas, how many of us could afford plane tickets? -

that story really happened, too, delian. i'm not making it up. & there was worse stuff that happened, too, but i'm not going to tell it b/c that would seriously be crossing the line on the grossness factor. i just hope people can learn from my wisdom, lol. -
ehhh... i know people are going to jump all over me for saying this but... i'm not really having a wedding like you think. we're getting a justice of the peace to come to this place called the chinese garden in maymont park (it's really trippy w/ weird chinese statues & vine plants... you'd have to see it). & we're kind of doing a punk/goth theme.. like mike is wearing his black trenchcoat over an all-black suit (no tie) w/ his black leather gloves & his best man is wearing a black-leather biker jacket & a spiked collar. i'm pretty sure the whole wedding party is going to be wearing all black except me... i've got this vintage dress that's really lacy, it's from the 30's, & i think it might've been used as a slip or something, but i don't care b/c it's perfect. you should see my veil... you guys probably think i'm nuts, but this is the type of wedding i've always wanted. when mike started coming up w/ the idea for a theme wedding, i was sooo releaved, b/c i thought he might want to have it in a church or something. :demon: damn, i sound all giddy, tee-hee.
Originally posted by Delian I thought you were moving to Australia... i'm beginning to think that my hope for everyone to get along & finally realize we are all equals is just a stupid pipe dream. there will always be prejudice & hatred & violence no matter what. it doesn't matter what we do. some morons who don't know how to practice logic will always ruin it. sorry for being so negative, but i'm just really disillusioned right now. i've decided to move to mars. spaceship construction begins tonight. let me know if you want to come w/ me. things are so far gone on this planet, the only way we'll have peace is if we start all over from scratch.

Sports and Video Games-only for boys?!
Lady Macaiodh replied to eleanor's topic in General Discussion
growing up, all the guys liked to hang w/ me b/c i was just as good at the sports as they were. plus, it taught me how to be comfortable around guys, which helped me a lot later in life. but the girls hated me b/c i hung out w/ the guys. they only girl friends i had growing up were tomboys like me. oh well, to each his own. they could have their dolls, just give me a football. & it's really cool when a guy you like tackles you (& they usually won't tackle you as hard as they would a guy) & you end up pinned under him, face to face. hehehe... i actually think it's better for girls to get into some guy stuff. at least then you can have more to talk about w/ them, & you won't be helpless is you have a flat tire. truthfully, girls can learn a lot from guys, just as they can learn a lot from us. you're never going to learn anything like that if you sit around doing your make-up all day. (no offense meant by that, but you get what i mean.) oh, hey, tori, i totally see what you mean about the smilie thing. what really messes w/ me is if you get like three or more posts in a row w/ those moving words in the sigs... now that really screws my head all up.
