In the way most Americans use the word, it isn't anime. Not only is it missing many themes that are in pretty much every anime, it's animation is definitely not up to par. Supposedly some of the animation was done by Japanese artists, but that doesn't really matter, it definitely wasn't written by a non-Japanese writer.

The end was really touching, especially
when the director dies with 35's explosion, also I never expected Lucy to actually sacrifice herself so she didn't have to hurt people. Of course she could still be alive, since thier was a shadow at the door (I haven't seen that before, lol)
Anyway, I did learn one thing from Elfen Lied. Evil is based on a scale, the first episodes masacre may have left you thinkin that no one could be more evil then Lucy. Once you learn more about Lucy and see the other diclonus though, you will know that she is not the peak of psychoticness.

I just ordered the 1st and 2nd stage off of ebay, but I have two questions. Since the males and females are enemies, how do they reproduce, and is thier alot of reference to homosexuality?

Personally I am not a fan of any of the games the DS comes with, so personally I would go with the non-bundle chrome, but thats just me.

Why doesn't anyone get that this show is not supposed to be a masterpiece or have a intelligible story. It is supposed to be so confusing and random that you say WTF at least 10 times an episode, and is really good to watch with friends. It's funnier then any American carttons anyway...

Both Naruto's and FMA's cuts were mostly the language. According to some people, Ed drops the f-bomb twice during the story. Also like stated earlier in the thread, thier is a decent amount of cursing in Naruto too.

For me the two big overrated anime are Inuyasha and Trigun. Inuyasha has an extremely repetitive bland story. Come on, many people like it for it's love story, which has been done much better in almost any other romance. The setting is kind of interesting, but they basically make it generic by adding in those darned jewel shards. Trigun has two main flaws that make it extremely basic. One, the freakin preachiness. Seriously the "I don't kill" and "no one has the right to take another's life" is child stuff. Also the ending was so incredibly anti-climatic.
Come on, saving Knives, if Knives turned good that would prove that this show is intellectually empty
My two underrated anime would have to be Elfen Lied and Onegai teacher. Both are some of the best in thier genre, but very few people actually know of them.

I am up to the last episode and here our my thoughts: The storyline is kinda weak, all the twists and turns were very predictable. To me though, it seems like this show is supposed to be more psychological, mostly about death, evil, and the such. I do like the idea of the diclonus thing, but they don't delve deep enough into the diclonus's other then Lucy, Nana, and 35 (I forget her name). The action is very fast and uncaring, just like the diclonus's style of fighting, which is fitting. The animation is very interesting with the contrasting colorful characters and then the extreme violence. Their is something I noticed though, the pan shots use the American style, basically meaning still frames with nothing moving. I do the like the opening Latin hymn theme, which is a fresh breath of air from all those darned Jpop songs.

Does anybody know of any good anime made during WW2? I heard of something called The Science Warrior Appears in New York, but after spending about an hour, I can't find jack about it. If you do know of any please tell me where I can find more info.

That is what makes it so funny. It is so incredibly dumb and childish, and what other show have you seen with a 3 foot tall talking pickle, NONE.
-
Yes you are a doctor. From what I have seen it has gotten decent reviews. Basically you use the touch screen to make incisions and remove stuff. The only thing I am worried about is the repetitiveness and how they are going to mae it anymore then a gimmick.
Watch some fansubs of it. Since you said "rap opening", I assume you're watching the hackjob.
I do believe that anime can be better in the original Japanese version, but I don't think any show can improve as much as One Piece does to make it any good. Naruto was also hacked alot, but not nearly as much as One Piece.

The Ds has a pretty good lineup, much better then the PSP's now, infortunately. Lunar: Dragon song came out a few days ago. Not only that, the attorney game, Age of Empires, Animal crossing, and Xenosaga are coming out soon.
In fact, Moore suggests the commentary may actually be an admission of weakness from Sony about the hardware. "The fact that they feel the need to have Snake tell you that it's powerful, that could be seen as a sign of worry, or weakness, potentially," he says.
That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. If anybody has seen any of Kojima's other trailers, he always likes to add in a little joke or some extra PR.

From what I have seen and played, everything in the game is dumbed down fro SM2. Less web attacks and swinging, less exploration, and less fun. I do like how they arent tied to the movie (even though I don't really read american comic books), as it allows more freedom, but it looks like they didn't make much use of it. By the way, if you formatted your post a little differently, it could've been a nice little review, too bad they don't have a game review system on theotaku.

Personally I have to say that One Piece is total junk, from it's rap opening to the ending credits. Those similarities are really vague though, especially the character types. Also the voices might sound similiar because most dubs by the bigger companies use pretty much the same stable of voice actors. It is not irregular to hear 3 or 4 voices in a show that you have heard in another dub.

I would definitely say Naruto. The Inuyasha storyline has alot of cliches, and is extremely repetitive. Naruto, though more childish, could really go anywhere from what I saw, so it has kep me hooked.

I'm having the worst year of my life
Killer7 replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
lol, I am having the worst year of my life too. For about the past six months I have been feeling really depressed, and constantly thought about suicide. But he is just too patronizing and thinks i know why I am depressed, and I can stop the bad thoughts, when in reality I have been trying that for 6 months. Anyways, my advice to you, this is your life, do want you want to it. But before you do anything, think of the affect on your friends and family, and what problems it may cause for your daughter. -
I say Trigun, even though I am not a huge fan. It has something for everyone, comedy, romance, and action. It is a little simple, and the ending sucks, but theirs nothing you can do. The characters are very likable (though whiney) and it is very easy to get into. Oh and thiers that dumb, preachy moral " no one has the right to take another's life", ugh how I hate that line. Anyway, it would be best to show them the whole series, but if you can only show them one episode, show them the last. It has a summary of the whole story, along with the lame ending (they really could've put more thought into it).

Whoa, blast from the past. The game must of came out about 2 years ago. I really liked it myself. It had good squad tactics, good gunplay, and the alternate ending to the cold war idea was orignal for it's time (since, it has been used multiple times). I heard EA was making a sequel, so I am looking forward to that.
-
I really wanted to see it, since I had heard of a game about it 2 years ago, and it sounded really funny. Unfortunately I forgot it was coming on and missed it yesterday, but I heard it was really wierd.

Why do people like this have to ruin it for the rest of us? People end up buying craptacular games due to the license, which just proves to the game companies they can continously churn out terrible games and make money. Recently I played a demo of this game, and yes it is like SSBM, that is if you make the controls alot worse, take out 15 characters, about 3/4 of the moves the characters in SSBM have, oh and replace the interesting weapons with some of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Yeah Inuyasha is basically the same thing, except slightly better.

Elfen Lied is a perfect one. The main character, Lucy, is a Dimoncolous, (or something like that) which means she has strong will power and has extessential hands that are beyond any power you can imagine. She is basically a psychotic killer in this form. Whenever she is hit on the head though she becomes like a child, and can't even say real words. Word of Warning: The show is extremely violent

I watched up to episode 5 and the story has kind of started but the scene where
Nana get's all her limbs torn off made me just gape. Lucy is just so inconsiderate and is a beast when it comes to fighting. My sub is terrible though, and I have had to piece together information about Kouta's relationship with his cousin ( is it just me or is thier something a little extra going on, if you know what I mean...)
-
Wooh, I just saw the first two epsiodes. Within the first two minutes thier were more loss of limbs then you can shake a stick out. Really so far thier has been no apparent story, just alot of rolling heads, but I hope that changes.
