Yes I usually find mainstream anime is usually a little watered down in story and violence. FMA's story can't hold a candle to something like gundam 0080.
-
Obviously it is heavily influenced by anime, but it definitely isn't anime. The art style is a little more americanized, and it's story is nothing like anime, very american in it's telling, bluntness, and simplicity. Basically it is fairly oddparents with a slightly japanese animation style.

Yes Shinji Mikami is a great director, second only to Hideo Kojima for me. He has made the two best action games of the year Killer7 and Resident Evil 4. I'm sad to hear he left, but he will easily get a job somewhere else. UNfortuanately, almost every review I have read (magazine, online) has given it average or below for thier reviews, now it won't get the following it deserves.

Yeah thier have been alot of flash cartoons using gam engines lately. The most popular one would have to be Red vs. BLue. Many of the other cartoons are just short skits, or like you said, music vidoes. Personally I would have to say red vs. Blue is my favorite of all of the videos, it is just so funny, and i love Caboose.
The problem is that we can't get anymore than what we see on cable TV. Due to lack of funds, dealers or just plain paranoia of online stores, I can only guess.
I can understand the funds part, but unless you live in a rural area you shouldn't have a problem finding some pretty cool anime. You can find anime in almost any movie or comic store. I have two suncoast's near me, so I have a huge selection to buy from. I still prefer ebay though because it cost's about 1/3 of the normal price. This is 2005, their shouldn't be any paranoia about the internet.

Wasn't candidate for goddess called pilot candidate in America? I saw some episodes and really liked it, but unfortuanately I can only find some of the volumes, and I hate buying it by volumes. It is not that many of these animes are neglected, it is that we are only alowed to have one thread per anime, meaning alot of them get pushed back and hard to find. Also the fact that people post alot of random spam causes a push-back too.

They are really just a combination of punk and pop, that is so extremely over done it isn't even funny. Plus thier singers whiny voice annoys the crap outta me.

I didn't mind that much either when he died. It is just the fact that instead of saying "oh thats too bad" he had to say "why should I care". It is about having respect for your elders who put thier neck on the line to get the news.
He died? So what? People die each day, and I'm sure there's some people that've died today that have met more unfairer deaths. 67 years isn't a bad timeage out of your life at all. I guess this is what happens when you don't watch TV like every other American does for about 4 or so hours of their day. Well, I'm glad I don't watch TV.
That is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. Seriously, grow up man. People want to mourn because they remember him, and when he was a newscaster he was a great one. Instead of letting them respectfully say something you have to chip in your two cents and try and be "cool".

I think G4 has quite a chance at really suceeding. Over the past year it has really evolved into a much more professional network. I do feel some of the shows suck *cough* Street Fury and that English battlebots show *cough* but x-play and g4-tv are really good. If only they focused less on crappy high-budget games and focused more on games that don't suck, I would love the channel. Also an increased focus on anime would be nice. Other then that they are heading in a good direction.

It is kinda a short game so if you are really short on money you can rent it. But it is does have some replay value with Killer8 mode. This game does have alot of artistic flair though. It is alot like an anime, and has some pretty cool anime scenes, so if you are on thi board you will probably like it.

That is sick man! I can barely do max 300 on light, let alone get an A on standard. I do have to say that DDR max is the best for the PS2 though.

You could probably find the manga at your local bookstore (barnes and Noble). Of course their is always ebay if you can't find it there.

answer me this (a question about inspiration and depression)

lol I have tried almost everything you people are saying. None of it works for me. Maybe a temporary escape for a few hours, but it always comes back. -
Honestly it is a cartoon, why should it matter if thier is blood or nudity, it isn't actually happening. Other then that, if a cartoon is on one of the major channels you don't pay for, it is almost certainly made by 4kids, the scourge of the anime business.

All of the comedy cartoons on there are pretty well done, better then any other cartoons on any channel. My favorite has to be Family Guy, it is just so random and funny. You know when a guy locks his keys out of the car it is a good show. My favorite anime is definitely Cowboy Bebop. Best characters I have EVER seen in an anime, and every episode is like an OVA episode so you never get bored of the same enemies. Also, the climatic (and awesome) ending scene, wrapped up the series very well.

I feel the exact same way, it has been like that for around 4 months for me. All of a sudden, nothing was worth doing for me anymore, and it is still like that. The only way that gets me out of that is to watch anime, that is why I spend most of my time either watching anime, or talking about it. I am think about seeing a psychiatrist about it, but I am only 14 so it would feel a little wierd. I used to love video games, nowadays I can only play truly great ones without getting bored (killer7). -
Like alot of the anime Cartoon Network plays, YYH isn't exactly the best anime but is very fun, easy to watch, and has cool characters. Like DBZ, Trigun, and FMA, the stories aren't great, but keep you hooked to the end. The reason they are so well liked is because of thier simplicity, and likable characters. They aren't a .hack//sign or a Cowboy Bebop, but it is easier for casual watchers to get into them, and miss an episode here or there ( whereas if you miss an episode of .hack//sign, you are screwed). By the way, I am surprised thier hasn't been a review of DBZ or YYH, I would do it, but I haven't seen them in awhile, so it wouldn't be too good.

I really wanted to get into warhammer, but it was way to expensive for me to be able to afford it. The rule-book is 50 bucks, let alone building an army.
-
What I meant by clunky was the fact that the movemnt is very linear, and at times a little confusing. Really if you like anime you NEED this game, it's story is on par with a Hitchcock movie, and it has some really cool action scenes. I didn't really get the end of Lion either, but the fact is, this game is seriously screwed up.

Their is a good chance I am going. Most likely I will only be thier for one day, as I am low in money and cannot afford a hotel room, since I live in New Jersey. I have always wanted to go to an anime convention, but have never had transportation or enough money. Anyway, does anyone know the best day to go?

I will drink pretty much any soda, but I prefer coke. A few years ago I took a Pepsi taste challenge, or something like that, and picked Coke. Coke taste sweeter to me and like the topic starter said, it doesn't leave a funny taste in your mouth.

Ico, the puzzle cult classic. The game was pretty good, but I totally forgot about it. Actually a similiar game is coming out from the same developer, named THe shadow of the Colossus. Basically you ride your horse around finding these 18 colossus, which are humongous creatures of stone, and once you find one you must figure out how to get on it (i.e. Shoot a flying colossus' wings to make him land and jump on him) then find it's weal spot and kill it. So basically the whole game is one big puzzle, finding out how to bring down the colossus.

I beat this game a few days ago, and it is by far the best game of the year at this point in the year, and probably will be game of the year for me. It has the best story ever in a game aside from the Metal Gear Solid. Yes it may have blocky graphics (even though they fit the anime stylings of the game perfectly). Yes it may have clunky controls, but to me they are a breath of fresh air from the constant Halo and GTA rip-offs. Add in 7 upgradable playable characters, a quirky sense of humor, create anime action scenes, great one liners, and an amazing twist at the end, you have yourself an awesome game. Me and my friends beat the game, and spent hours trying to figure out what happened in the awesome ending. Play it now if you are a game or anime fan. For anybody who has played it, how do you like it and what do you think about the ending (if you have gotten that far).
