Hello, Delta! Thanks so much for creating the graphics!!!!! Recently a lot of changes have been happening to me at my work place, and to make things easier, I chose a different theme in which I had my sister purchase items for because of time constraints. However, I will definitely save these graphics and use them another year when I have a sports theme. Thanks a bunch! And one more thing: You did a great job. Very cute, and you made the orange look terrific!

I'm proud to say I actually saw Dir En Grey LIVE last year..... And they were incredible! I'm just gonna copy and paste what I wrote on my blog: They were awesome. It was a small stage, so there weren't a lot of fancy special effects, but they did have this voo-doo like background with a video playing in the background as well as some lighting effects. No matter, the band was so LOUD. Kyo, the vocalist, blew me away. I don't usually care much for vocalists, but Kyo is extremely talented. No wonder why he hurt his throat for a while. Metal and screaming isn't my thing, but this band definitely does it for me. The vocalist sings as if he's an animal descended from another world screaming a message at us. The rest of the band were incredible as well. I had no idea the bassist, Toshiya, was so freaking tall, towering over shorty Kyo. The long instrument really matched him. Die, Shinya, and Kaoru were how I imagined them to be while playing. Awesome. The music made me feel like I was thrown into a screaming dream world. 'Nuff said. By the end of the show we were all at least half deaf but satisfied. I just had to re-rave about them. lol. Besides that, I usually listen to more "upbeat" bands such as Glay, The Pillows, and L'arc en Ciel for sheer enjoyment of what I think is quality music. Throw a little Surface in there once in a while because they're quite unique. Sambomaster is pretty good as well, but I've only heard a few of their songs.

Hello all. Just an introduction-- I'm a classroom teacher, and each year I put together a theme for my class of lively kids. Basically we use this theme on our bulletins and class t-shirts, and the children love it. Last year I had a "Globe Trekker" theme, made a request on this board, and someone answered with awesome boarding passes tailored for my class. Thankyou! This year I want to do a football theme (American football, not soccer =]). I'm thinking of making large printouts of football helmets and/or jerseys of which I will place on a large bulletin board with a football field or may a "Hall of Fame" picture. The theme will be called "Tran's Tacklers", if you're interested in incorporating this into an image. You can do anything from putting a logo on a simple football helmet like this: http://www.kidprintables.com/coloring/sports/footballhelmet.gif Or making your own image. I appreciate anything that comes my way and will most likely use it. If you need an idea for colors, it can be any. If you can make burnt orange look good on a jersey, even more awesome! One more thing, if possible, please leave a blank space so that I can write the child's name clearly somewhere. If possible, I would like to print this out within a week from this posting date. For anyone who responds to this, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! :animesmil

.............................LOL. Do you or your family have any enemies? Are you getting payback for something you did to someone? Friends who you think would do this just to mess with you? Maybe someone thought it was Halloween already :p? Have you asked neighbors if they saw anyone?

I didn't really like that movie. I didn't like Jet Li's acting of monkey king and the characterization was a bit cheesy for me. But the marital arts wasn't bad, and I did like how it ended.
WRONG!!!:flaming: I draw chibis, those trashy looking dolls are NOT like chibis. But that's just my opinion and I do respect yours.
lol, funny how otakus react. Chibis- a little person, usually with an oversized head and big eyes. They're like american drawn chibis. I agree with some of the people here who brought up the fact that the dolls reflect the times. Anyone here ever watched Mean Girls? There's this one scene where Lohan drops by this blonde girl's house, and her mother is plastic, and her little sister is watching MTV or something, and dancing erotically to the music video. Yeah, a lot of truth in that.

My university dragged me kicking and screaming to purchase a Mac, and I am SO glad they did. I've had my Mac for about 3 years or more, and it's still running like new! It shut down on me once, and I freaked out, then realized it was because it was unplugged for too long and just ran out of batteries. There was one or two unexplainable instance where it shut down, and all it took was pressing the power button to get it back up again. All my work is automatically saved on my Mac, so whatever I have in Office just pops up again even if I didn't save it. When I had a customized Windows PC, that thing went berserko all the time, and majorly slowed down by the time I had it for the second year. The iBook I have, it's made of the same material as bullet proof glass on the outside. I don't know if they still do that for the newer laptops. Doesn't necessarily means it's bulletproof, but it's fun to tell people. I don't think I can go back to a different computer brand.

Though I hate the way Bratz look, I could see why a child would like it. They're like chibis. Chibis are cute, right? Kids like chibis. But I think that most children don't read into Bratz like adults do. They see the sparkly and the shiny, and they think it's beautiful. If I went into a Pre-K class, wearing high heels, lots of makeup, cheap looking clothes, big fake earrings, many of the children would come up to me and tell me I'm beautiful. Barbie is classic. And since Barbie is an adult, she can get away with looking glamorous, make-up and all. Bratz on the other hand, actually look like children. The dolls look like children wearing skimpy clothing and make-up, it's kind of hard for me to not be turned off when I see a Bratz doll. Have you seen a living Bratz doll yet? How about one that moves and dances. You can see them when you walk by Libby Luu. They're... real.
Also, 'mad skillz' are what the people in Hollywood are supposed to have. That's why they're there.
I don't doubt that Hollywood has the capacity to make a realistic looking Piccolo. Nor do I doubt that they've tried. I think that they've tried, realized he didn't look so great, so they went with the other alternative. A part of me did consider that perhaps the production budget didn't make them flexible enough to create a good-looking green character, but I think it's more of the reason I stated above. I think that the choices made in depicting the characters in real life took into consideration the appeal to an audience mostly unaware of the original series and wouldn't care what color Piccolo is and maybe even production limitations.

Alright, besides being in the anime scene for over ten years, I've never had the motivation to watch the Dragonbal seriesl. I'm a bit iffy about the cast. I mean, why are they casting some girl from that MTV reality show? Should've stuck with Chow's original plan for another actress, though I can see there may be a language issue. Anyways, I'm interested to know Stephen Chow's hand in producing this bit. I'm usually very satisfied with his movies. I am curious about how this movie will come to the big screens and be changed to appeal to westerners. From someone who's never read/watch the original Dragonball, I've got to say that the thought of a main character being green is distracting, and it would take mad skillz to make a character such as Piccolo in real life not look hokey. So I could see why he looks the way he does. Looking at pictures of Goku and Bulma, I wonder, why don't they just make their hair look a little bit more... normal? Anime is anime, and real life is real life. Some things like wild hair from anime just looks lame in real life. Just my opinion. And for the complaints about this movie being geared towards kids, well, wasn't the original t.v. series geared towards kids as well? I do hope that the director interprets this movie in a way to appeal to a larger age range of viewers, but just reading the whole setting of this movie, well, sounds like one of those "magical" teen flicks, you know, almost like Transformers, but more cheesy. I thought Transformers was going to turn out a bit lame, and though some parts were, I was overall quite satisfied with it. So, I'm not completely hopeless when it comes to this Dragonball movie coming to theaters.

The13thMan, you must be really need a diversion to make a thread so that people could give long responses and only talk about themselves. Well I need a diversion as well, so Imma reply. =) 1. What level of education are you at? Highschool, college? College graduate. 2. What's your favorite subject, or if you're in college, what's your major? I liked Language Arts the most when I was attending school, but I majored in education. I am interested in technology as well, but kind of don't know where to start if I switched gears. 3. Why is it your favorite subject or field of choice? A major led me to observe in a pre-school which led me into deciding I wanted to teach. 4. What's your ideal job along the field you are studying? I'm still searching for my niche as far as career goes. Although I like to teach, there are still a lot of different things I would like to learn and try. Sometimes I feel that I am lacking when it comes to thinking critically within my field. I'm no good at talking about teaching, theories, philosophies. In this way, I am just not as interested or driven as I'd like to be to make a great change. I would like to specialize in something that I could eventually teach to adults like in a college or even a technical school later. Teaching overseas interests me as well. 5. Talk about whatever it is that interests you! Why is it so damn interesting? I may quit what I do if I somehow got a job in the anime industry. lol. Electrical engineering. Physics. That takes a special mind.
There's a dojo in the college town here that offers ninjitsu classes.
lol, I didn't know there are actually dojos that offer ninjitsu. But I'm just thinking about this in total relation to ninjas... Reading it in wikipedia, covers quite a broad range of martial arts.

I took a martial arts called Vovinam in high school for two years. It was pretty cool, and I liked the fact that it was all about killing your opponent. lol. Really, though. The martial art was basically geared to hurt the person in the most efficient way. I then took Tae Kwon Do in college for a semester. That was pretty fun as well, but I didn't want to go through the whole earning belts ordeal. Plus, the motivation to practice wasn't so great in me. Love kicking techniques. However, I've acquired a foot inflamation recently due to my anatomy-- a sharp bone on the ball of my foot which requires me to take it easy on my feet. I would like to take up martial arts again (and basic things like running!) but it may take a toll on my feet. =*(. I've observed a karate performance before and noticed lots of hand techniques. Are there any martial arts out there that is more about the hands than kicking?

I sympathize with you as well. It is very difficult for me to make friends, and like someone mentioned, it just kind of naturally happens. And when someone offers you their friendship, sometimes you don't pick up on it and miss the opportunity. Like the others I'd suggest you join some organizations. Just to keep yourself busy. Really. It's better to not be bored, and along the way perhaps you'll find a few buddies. But depending and lamenting over one roomate isn't going to help. Heck, when I was starting college the last thing I wanted was a roomate! I figured I'd be more annoyed with my roomate than satisfied. And like you, I also come off as blunt because of being honest. Try to offset that with being polite and showing people that you are considerate. If you find yourself good or bad at a certain subject, send a mass email to the people on the class email list and set up a study group. Invite people from your hometown to come visit you. Your school might offer some mentorship program that you can sign up to be mentored. Then the next year you might want reverse and be the mentor instead. Volunteer. Turn to the internet. Start your own specific meetup group at www.meetup.com or put yourself on www.facebook.com or something similiar that'll help you reach out to people or people will come look for you. I'm listing all the things I should've done when I was in college. lol.
Well I agree with The Decemberists, but The Jonas Brothers? Seriously... You are weird if you think they're just as good... Loony
I have to agree with Lunox that I think that The Jonas Brothers are just as good as the Decemberists. Mainly because I don't really like either bands. lol. Though I do have one Dec. song on my playlist. I think sun protection is really really important and often tell my friends about how important it is. Wear it every day on my face, and trying to figure out how I can reapply it every few hours at work and before going outside (a 20 minute part of work) without people thinking I'm obsessed.

WOW! That is sooooooooooooo awesome! Although I've already printed out and laminated my plane tickets thinking no one was going to reply, I think I will go ahead print this out as well because it looks really real. Thanks a bunch!:animesmil

Thanks for the shounen anime recs! I'd put off finishing Hellsing and Samurai Champloo simply because I thought the series may be too long. Hellsing is only 13 episodes?!?! I could finish that in a day!

Wow I'm surprised that this thread isn't locked. I'm also surprised that I actually have a cat picture, too. :catgirl:

Well, I consider Funimation professionals because they are a legitimate company. As far as dubbing quality goes, I'm not a fan of dubbing, but no matter how well you translate, it's a given that you're going to lose some part of the texts' original meaning. If someone ever uploads a video or something, then linky link me. =)

Hey, that actually sounds kind of interesting... I haven't decided which side I agree with more, but I hope Dattebayo is prepared to speak and defend their position. Well, if they happen to all agree on a position. On Dattebayo's side, I just hope they won't come off as a buncha "kids" sitting around messing with anime on computers (even if there's truth in that). I think it's a serious discussion to have, and I'd like to see a battle of words. :smirk:. They need to choose representatives who are organized, knowledgeable, and confident and can hold their ground. It's great to love anime and all, but when you're having a more serious discussion, especially with professionals from the industry, you should be prepared with some good reps that can speak intelligently... and to try to suppress the dorkiness that plague so many otakus to be taken seriously.

Hey you all. A new school year is starting and... I'm a teacher, so I'm getting a lot of things ready. One thing I'm working on is the class theme. I'm going with the "trekker" theme- not Star Trek, but Globe Trekkers. So, I'll be decorating our front bulletin with backpacking gear, world-themed boarders, passports, and fake plane tickets. The plane tickets and passports will have each students' name on it. I'm a little stuck on the plane tickets part. I've designed a plane ticket with a very basic art program I have on my computer, but I'm not fully satisfied. I'm asking for your help to make the plane tickets look more "real". I don't really have to do this, but if it'll make the kids feel a little more special, it'll be great. Plus, I'll be displaying it. =). The plane company is Air Tran, so please include that along with mentioning 3rd grade and a place for them to put their name. You can put your personal logo somewhere in the corner if you'd like. Attached is what I have so far, and you can take this image to spice up or design a new one. I may or may not use your image, but I'll take anything. Thanks in advance!

Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
visualkei replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I'm surprised to see how many people have already posted that they want to know when they're going to die. A year ago I'd probably say No, I don't want to know when I'm going to die. It's kind of sad, the thought of knowing your day is inching in closer and closer. Then again, what's sadder is to die wishing you'd done all those things you said you'll do. Now I think I differ in wanting to know when I'll die. Yes, I'd like to know. I already accept the fact that I'm going to die one day. Well, kinda accept it, hehe. Probably will panic when the time comes. Anyways, wouldn't knowing when we're going to die help us get things done faster? It's like getting a due date on an assignment. You won't procrastinate as much, or pass up opportunities when you know whether or not you can get a chance to do it later in the future. But if you're someone who lives life to the fullest already, what's the point of knowing. I pray to be fortunate enough to die painlessly. -
Hey, these movies aren't so old to be considered "classic" but these scenes show up in every other joke. The scene in Blair Witch Project where the girl is crying into her camera. Didn't care much for the movie, but if you watched t.v. in the 90's, you were probably sick of the parodies. Then the one from The Sixth Sense where the kid says "I see dead people." Good movie. I still hear those "I see __________" jokes.

I'm talking about those auctions where there's a piece of work hanging on a "wall" and you actually write down a bid, and come back to check if someone's outbidded you. Is there anyone here that's ever placed their art up for auction at an anime convention? Were you able to sell it? How about anyone that's ever bidded on a piece of art? (How much did you bid if you mind my asking...?) I walked into an anime art auction at a relatively big anime convention once, and the honest truth is, I wasn't that impressed. I saw a lot of things that I could've drawn myself and wouldn't consider good enough to try to sell. When I think of putting art work up to sell I'm thinking of something that's above an beyond the norm. Plus, it makes me wonder-- if someone actually put in a lot of time into a canvas, and a lot of money into purchasing the paint and stuff, and if it turns out decent, are there many otakus out there that'll really fork over the cash? I'd like to hear some of your experiences as far as anime art auctions go.
