1. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been telling people about the commercials and how I was going to finally sit down and watch an American TV series, and I totally forgot about it!!!!! :animeangr Thanks for reminding me, although it's past already! I've been so busy I haven't really gotten a chance to chill out. Does anyone know if they're going to show the first episode again or if I can find it on the internet? Thanks.
2. I really liked them back in the day, like 6 years ago when I was really into J-rock. I bet they've made quite a bit of new music since then. I actually bought their first album, too. At the time I never saw their music videos. But once, I saw one, and I thought it was pretty creepy. Their less gothic songs, I really enjoy. The first song that got me interested in them was one I found on a cd full of japanese pop from like 2000 or 1999 that were either big hits or, I think, featured on tv shows. The song they played sounded more mainstream than their other works. I recognized their name when I was browsing through imported J-cds, and decided, hey I'll check this out. Their first album, Mode of Gauze. It was totally different than what I expected. And I even enjoyed their unique music, though I'm not normally into the yelling and screaming genre. =] I'd say some of my favorite songs by them are the first one I heard, Yokan, and other less gothic ones, definately Cage, that song rocks! Awesome tune. And Yurameki. They're all from the first album. I'm sure there were more songs from other albums, but it's been so long... if there are other songs on later albums by them you'd like to recommend, DO.
3. Has anyone watched NBC's Dateline show where they set up traps for internet predators? In case you haven't ,here's a brief: There's an organized group of adults posing as teenage girls online (ages ranging from 13-14). They chat to older men who arrange meetings with the 'girls' at their homes. When the predator arrives, he sees a young girl wave him into the house. When he comes into the kitchen, he's confronted by the host of the show who interrogates him and reads from their chat logs. When the man leaves the house, cops are waiting to arrest him. I watched this show for the first time last night, and man, seeing those men realize they're caught on national television for child molestation charges was excruciating. Now I don't feel sorry for them, more like embarassed for them. It was so embarassing watching some of them cry or beg on tv. But, they were really out to get these girls. I mean, just listening to some of the graphic chat logs and seeing the stuff they brought to the girl's home.... One of them even mentioned he was afraid of NBC's Dateline catching him, but he still risked it anyway. If you've watched it, tell me what you think. Do you think these guys deserve to be caught on national television? Or did they get what they deserved?

Last Movie

Yeah, those Ong Bak movies with Tony Jaa are pretty cool. Stories are OK, but the *** kicking is fun to watch. Last movie I watched was Over the Hedge. It was a lot better than I expected, not a bad movie.
5. Hm... I think my dad has a relatively rare job. He's a shrimper. He has a boat, and he goes out for 1.5-2 weeks at a time. He's home for a few months during winter-spring. During this time, he does random jobs, or works on his shrimp netting. One of the random jobs he'll take are taking the oysters out of their shell. This is a tough job, and shrimpers earn money with their sweat and blood. Most shrimpers I know are through my parents, Vietnamese immigrants who are in this dangerous business because they have few choices. My mom is a nail technician. She does nails. Before that, she worked at a crab factory where they scraped the meat out of crabs, and packaged it. I don't know why, but this job required the workers to come to work at 2 a.m.! My mom's hands hurted so much from this work. She then switched to shrimp packaging at local harbours, and this job paid well, but was extremely vigorous. She finally decided to study and go into nails, a job that wasn't so physically demanding and required ridiculous hours. I think she's happy where she is now, but I still get angry when I hear about all the horrible customers she has. Their attitudes and disrespect towards her, or when she catches something from touching their hands and feet. =*( Growing up in an immigrant family and seeing my parents working so hard to care for our family has a major affect on my perspective on life. They've worked hard and deserve everything they've earned, yet there seems to always be someone out there to hurt them or bring them down.
6.
Shy: At times they might get a little too specific or dated with their references, but it's still better than anything on Fox News.
SERIOUSLY. Wow, I can't believe I actually got replies from someone about this show. TWO people, haha. I'm not being sarcastic. Yeah, I like how McLaughlin kind of closes discussions with some far sided statement. I didn't know it used to be on NBC... Anywayz, I'm starting to like PBS shows more and more now. Especially when it comes to news.
7. I was wondering if there's anyone that watches this show on PBS. One day I was flipping through the channels, and it caught my eye. What are these people yelling about? I don't understand a lot about politics, even though it's this show's central theme. I admit, half the times I don't know what's coming out of their mouths because the discussors tend to trail off, referencing political figures I don't know of. I just enjoy watching these people debate vehemently, though it's on major national and international issues. It's interesting, and I think it's also funny, especially the host, who's comments are so brusk, like when he shuts everyone up, and closes discussion topics. Anyone here watches this show? Do you understand most of what they're debating about? hehe. Do you also think it's amusing?
8. I like the expression on his face, I didn't noticed much about the tree until Lunox pointed it out. Actually I think it's cool to use different styles on one piece and even be inconsistent. I have to add, though, that his hair is blowing in one direction, but it seems like the tree is blowing the other way.

TMNT (2007)

Whoa. I didn't see this coming at all. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie, thanks for spreading the word! One of the posts said something about how this movie will probably not have as big an impact as the originals, and I agree. It seems like the turtles have been sleeping for the past decade, and I'm looking forward to see if they'll make a comback with the new movie.

Help me out.

Based on the songs you posted by postal service, keane, snow patrol... have you considered Death Cab For Cutie? it's a band with the same vocalist as Postal Service, and I like them better. Death Cab: I Will Follow You Into the Dark, and I adore Tiny Vessels. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: Howl These songs are all pretty slow.
11.
Pumpkin: However as far as her story goes, I can see how other people can view that. But hey, theres no evidence to say she's lying either.
Yeah, I know her claims are a bit extreme, but like Pumpkin, I don't think that what she's claiming should be totally disregarded. Some body took the time to drop photos off in her front door. Who knows if someone really did show up and claim to be her son, or if it was actually some sicko that decided it would be funny to pretend to be her son... What I'm really curious about is whether the photos are legitimate or not. We'll just have to wait and see. I really want to learn more about human trafficking, I don't hear much about it in the US.
12. I was watching the news today, and one of the stories was about Johnny Gosch. A boy who has been missing since 1982, and was one of the first widely publicized child abduction cases. You can read a little more about the case here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Gosch In 1999, the mother reported that her son knocked on her door in the middle of the night, and spoke to her. Along with him was somebody she doesn't know. "Johnny divulged that his had been a targeted, not random, abduction, in 1982. His captors had forced him into a decade of child sex-slavery. Johnny explained that as his survival was a potential security breach for the conspiracy, he was currently, and probably permanently, in hiding, and would likely never see her again." Then he left her again. Recently, the mother found some pictures of boys and identified her son. It was horrible seeing those pictures of the tied up boys! There was even one with her son with some brand on his arm. It really gave me the creeps. Now, the photos are still being investigated for authenticity. BUT a sheriff has said that he'd actually came upon those pictures in the late 70's before the Gosch case. Ofcourse my first reaction was HORROR. When I really began thinking about this, it was just too... unreal. Also, someone has claimed to have examined those pictures even before there was an abduction. But, the kid looks like hers. As far as I really don't think the government would cover up something so ****** up, but I am naive. What do you guys think? Do you think her story of her son visiting her is true? Are the pictures authentic? Could there be some sort of twisted nation-wide conspiracy of child abduction?
13. I despise people who steal. Since you're really sure that object belongs to you, you really should've taken the whale back when you were over there, whether it be discreetly by basically "stealing" it back, or overtly, take it back by force. I think this is something you can handle yourself without involving parents. If you think telling an adult is the best way, then go ahead, but that sure is awkward telling someone their kid stole from you. Who knows if they'll believe you, maybe they will, maybe they won't. hehe. If you really wanted to keep her as a friend, then I see why you didn't take it back. But that kind of person, you don't need around. It's worth taking your object back and giving up that kind of person. Or you can be the better person, just give up the object, TELL her she can keep it, and let her know you won't tolerate someone like her as a friend.
14. I think that I'm not much of a window shopper, unless I am incredibly bored and don't want to go home, or I haven't been "shopping" for a month. When I'm alone window shopping, I can take my sweet time. I don't know if this applies as window shopping, but when I plan to stop by a library to drop off something or pick up a specific book, I tend to stay a lot longer. I just want to look at every book, and I always think of other books and subjects I want to look deeper into. =] Besides just looking at every item, is there anybody here who's addicted to shopping?
15. That was interesting seeing some of your actual faces. The13thMan I think your hair looks pretty sleek. Short dark hair is handsome. Acheron, the pics of you and your wife are..... CUTE. :animesmil Jubei Yagyou your eyes are darling when you smile. And Papa Smurf... YOUR PICTURE ROCKS!!!!! =D Did you paint your face just for this forum, or have you kept this pic around for a while?
16. haha. One painful time waste was coming out of both of my ends. It's unimaginable... I don't know what the hell caused it. The last time I had a horrible barfing experience was when I ate something I should've thrown away... The next thing I knew my eye was throbbing. I was literally rolling with my hands on my face because it hurted so much. Then the back of my brain started to throb, too, it was so horrible, my head was in so much pain. Suddenly I had the urge to vomit, so I did. 5 or 6 times with 5-10 minute intervals and head throbbing in between. Ofcourse I passed out afterwards for 3 hours. Awful.
17. For all types of noodles including insant ramen, I like mine slightly crispy. I don't like soggy noodles, so once it's in hot water, I give it 30 seconds and dig in. =]
18.
ohh!i know! mr.brightside! ok it's my turn now. rutona:lcsah fo jnain HINT:a video game.jutsu your probably going to be able to figure it out pretty easily
Clash of Ninja New Word: mgindio Hint: One of the first anime shown on Fox
19. I remember when I was still a kid, and the Jonbenet case was going on like crazy on tv... 10 years later I can not believe something new came out of this case! As far as what Karr's said, a lot of it doesn't add up, but hey, it's only recent that he's confessed. So I'm looking forward to see if they can verify that he really was with his ex-wife in Alabama at the time of the murder, how his story matches up with the evidence, and more DNA tests.
20.
She said I should think about how much money I wanted to give them, and give it to them along with the precise formulas and equations that led me to the decission.
You should definately attach something that explains the final amount you decide to give them back. I think the main problem is proving that they wrote you a check for $400. That's an extra big chunk you might be obligated to cough up. This might sound harsh, but if they insist that they paid you $500, and the amount you came up with to return to them should be out of $500, then you should in turn insist that they show you evidence that you'd taken $500 out of their account. Instead of you proving the $400 amount, let them prove the $500 amount. If you deposited the check into your bank account then, it'll be easy for you to get proof, but if you cashed the check it'll be a little harder. You might have kept a cashing receipt for proof. The banks that I know of the popular banks, and even the small town bank I use.. they usually send out copies or have online copies of checks that people have cashed. You could ask the couple to show a statement that may have a copy of the check that they wrote for you. They could also choose not to show it, and it'll look like their fault. If your situation gets complicated, then I hope my advice will help... and not make it more complicated. =D
21. wow, someone made a thread on this! i haven't been into the jrock scene in some years, and was really shocked when my sister told me dir en grey was going to be touring in the US... with Korn. Whoa. So how did you find this information? Do you know any website that lists jrock bands that are touring in the US? I'm not a concert junkie, but I'd like to see of my favorite non-US bands some time.
22. When DDR was introduced to us like ... 7 years ago, it was a way of life. My friends were all really good at it, and even went to competitions. Though, it's difficult to me and I've never really gotten the hang of it, and even suck on the beginner's level. :animesigh It takes skills. It's kind of dying out where I live now. Do you guys ever watch DDR tournaments?
23. I actually like #3, simply because I like that there are 3 colors. Something about red against green, and red against blue, looks tranquil. I guess it's a personal thing, seeing how no one's said anything about #3. hehe. Though I think that since there is white space between each mini-box, it might be a little weird to use as a banner.
24.
But I realized - long before V7 came about - that no matter what I do, I cannot please everyone. All I can really do is try to please myself and the majority of other people. As long as most people are happy with what's being done, I can consider it successful. So I think many of us experience this type of criticism. Unfortunately people who are rude like that probably aren't going to change...all you can do is use it as fuel to improve your work. And of course, you have to take it in context too. Constructive criticism is good, but the blunt "that sucks" type of stuff usually comes from people who are only trying to be annoying anyway. It's usually best to just ignore that type of stuff.
Yeah, no matter what you do, you can't please anyone. Even if something seems "perfect", there will always be someone out there that will find a "flaw." A lot of it depends on tastes, and some people are critical, some are just mean. It's good to hear that you didn't immediately hate the guy that harshly criticized your work, Retribution. If someone told me what I made sucked, I'd like to know why they think so, and perhaps that person can help me improve, and to share with them how/why I made something the way I did. Like James said, some people really ARE out there just to be annoying, and you won't get much from them except more empty criticism. You can either ignore it or let it get to you. Sometimes letting it get to you isn't all that bad, seeing how it may fuel you to make a comeback in competitive situations. =]
25. As I was reading Sojiro47's response on the post: What do you want?, I thought, wow, that's hardcore. I used to love martial arts... not as much as that person, but I really enjoyed it. My questions to you are, if you've taken martial arts, what did you take? How are you coming along in regards to it? What was your experience like? What was most memorable? The first martial arts I took was pretty obscured, called Vovinam, a Vietnamese martial arts. The students and I were quite close, most of them were my relatives or close friends, and I also got along with all the people there. My instructor was a very personal man who knew our families, and worked in similar businesses as they. It was a far drive, 30 minutes, but we thought it was worth it at the time. Then we quit, because we felt it took too much effort and time to go there, we practically took away half the class. It made me feel horrible, but that was my decision. Class took place in a run down room that you had to walk through a convenience store to get to. The socialization that went on there was interesting, but I really looked forward to seeing myself physically improve during the time I spent there. I took about... 3 tests in that class, I think. My instructor would host parties for us at his house, and we also saw him at parties which our parents attended. On the day we left, we were all at the beach together because we've camped out for a night. Told stories and played games. It was memorable. He had 2 sons that attended class. One was about my age, a teenager at the time. The other was an unruly child who was 12 at the time. He always messed with me and the other girls, and I was really agitated since he stood behind me, though I never complained or told on him. One day our "sifu" was talking about the founder of Vovinam who's last name is Le, and his son blurted out: "Is he related to Bruce Lee?" I guess that was the last straw, because my teacher walked towards his son, and gave his a hard slap on the face. The whole class was silent. My instructor went back to the front of the room, composed, and continued class, and we went on as if nothing happened. I don't remember how his son reacted or if he continued practicing with us, though. This might sound cheezy, but I remember it like it was some scene in a movie, that's why it was memorable. hehe. The second martial arts I joined was in college, and it was Tae Kwon Do. I only took it for a semester, and I didn't even take the test to go up a belt. The thing that I'll remember in that class was that I've never been so shy and disfunctional about my attraction, and it was for the teacher's assistant! When we took the class exam for points, I was tearing myself inside to ask him to leave because I was mentally distracted. I was so pathetic! :animeblus Overall, I enjoyed VVN more than TKD, not just because of the people that I interacted with, but because, well, I thought VVN's fighting was more fierce, and I liked that more.
