1. I listen to...well, a little of everything but generic crap-music. Most country/rap/pop falls into that category(for me, anyway). Some favorites would be System of a Down, They Might Be Giants, Death Cab for Cutie, The Black Mages(and other Uematsu music), Coheed and Cambria, The Strokes(though i've only heard two songs :animesmil) That should give you a good idea, i guess.
2. Yeah, they started writing it Spring '04, with Bungie watching quality. They delivered scripts to potential production companies with people wearing full Master Chief armor. It was picked up by Universal, and is now being directed by Del Toro(Hellboy) and executive produced by (the) Peter Jackson, with SFX by WETA(LotR). Don't really know what direction it's taking the plot, but I assume it will have the Flood. More details here The PS3 thing was actually about Halo 3. I don't even think Gates explained why he said that.
3. J. Gordon Whitehead delivered three punches to Harry Houdini's abdomen--later considered a contributing factor in Houdini's death. The last letter George Harrison ever wrote went to Mike Myers of Austin Powers fame. He requested a Mini-Me doll. The letter was delivered by a private investigator on the day he died. Charlie Chaplin once won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest. The turkeys pardoned by U.S. presidents usually die within a matter of weeks; they are bred to be eaten. They usually don't live longer than 18 months. I have too much free time. George Washington's false teeth were hand-carved from hippopotamus ivory and cow?s teeth, then fastened to his mouth with a set of metal springs. It's illegal in Alabama to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle. GO JOE!
4. "Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too."
-Voltaire
(yes, i realise the irony/hypocrisy in quoting that.) I think too many people(generally speaking, anyway)argue and debate to try to sway peoples opinions. On the matter of flag burning: I think that the people who do that know that it makes people angry: That's the point. It is an extreme tactic meant to draw attention to whatever cause theyre fighting for. You need to understand that the flag is a symbol. Instead of fighting to protect the symbol, fight to protect (or even better, in this case) what it symbolizes. And finally, on the matter of free speech: In many, if not most cases, the freedom of speech is very ambiguous. One must remember that it was made to allow people the rite to express ideas and belief without government restriction. People can say what they want, and most of the time you'll just have to deal with it. But it goes both ways, and they have to deal with whatever your stance is. It was never designed with a double standard in mind, but with political parties, double standards are often unavoidable. I could probably say some more, but to combine some Voltaire: "A witty saying proves nothing, and the secret of being a bore is to tell everything."
5. I've had the pleasure to play Pheonix Wright(don't forget the mission after the credits) and would really like to play Under the Knife, among others on the list. As for the matter of innovation(or lack thereof) this year has been said by some industry experts to be "the year of the indie game". This is mainly because big-name companies like Microsoft can afford to release more innovative titles through their downloadable game services(god, i wish i had anything better than 56k AOL :animeangr ), and the Revolution will probably have similar titles to go along with it's Virtual System(the temporary name for it's network/ability to download/play older games. And don't forget that there are a lot of great, innovative games for every taste for PC. I reccommend Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space. You can get a demo for it here.
6. I don't really know what people think of me that much, except for that most of my friends, upon meeting me, actually thought to themselves "This guy's weird"("In a good way, though."). That and most people that don't like me just think of me as a nerd. I'm probably way too introvert for my own good; I don't really talk all that much, and I don't have a very good self image. I guess I would describe myself as an aloof, hopeless romantic who probably needs a hobby. :animesmil
7. I haven't really heard that much J-rock, but I highly reccomend the pillows and anything by Nobuo Uematsu. Actually, Uematsu has a band now, The Black Mages. They play hard rock variations of music from assorted Final Fantasy games. My favorite would definitely have to be Those Who Fight Further. It's a freakishly awesome remake of the FFVII fight theme, with Uematsu on keyboards.
8. To further prove kenshinbabes point: Those god-forsaken "Bratz" dolls. They bascally say that shallow is good. One specific instance, too: Bratz babyz. Instead of diapers, they have thongs. They also have "bottle bling", and motorcycles. At least the newer bratz baby crap isnt as bad: instead of thongs they have daisy dukes. Also, I think they got rid of the motorcycle.
9. This thread is for people to rant about why they like/hate the U.S., how you think it could do better, or anything like that. Personally, I think the present government is full of people overpaid and underqualified, who arn't able to do their job when the time comes for it to be done(though by now i'm shure most people think likewise). Right now, it is frighteningly close to a fascist theocracy, full of double standers, hypocricism, greed, and plain ignorance. I don't blame the government for all of americas problems; as a whole, the American people are retarded, irrational, and unable to accept even the slightest bit of change. Yes, I do realise this is a very broad generalization, as well as an exaggeration(though not by much). Though there's something I think we can probably all agree on:Pat Robertson should be launched into the sun.(j/k, though we probably should at least take him off of his T.V. show)
10. I guess I would consider myself a geek: I love DnD, video games(especcially the classic NES franchises, like Rockman), alt rock, anime, etc. It's hard as hell to find people locally who share my interests though. I live in an extremely conservative town, full of jackasses who almost all try to be skater/surfer/punk/cali girl, which is weird because we live in a small North-eastern Texas town. To help you understand how freakishly conservative my town is, in 8th grade my english teacher asked a girl what she would do if she was omnipotent. She said she would put everyone who wants an abortion in prison. Also, my science teacher once said she didn't think Bush was a good president. Literally, everyone in the room gasped except for me and 4 other people. Last week a girl(who's a junior in my freshman english class) asked me, "Are you one of those scientific kids who thinks were here 'cause of evaporation, or sumpn?", after finding out I was atheist. One day, I hope to move to Canada (or at least far, far away from Texas...)
11. Where I live FLCL was on CN like two-and-a-half years ago. In my opinion it has one of the best soundtracks ever, by "the pillows". I think they still sell it at Suncoast, but i'm not entirely shure. I saw the manga at a bookstore, but I was low on cash so I didnt buy any. Read a few pages though, and it looked just as good, if not better, then the show. Same sense of humor, too, which is nice. In regards to the story: Answers.com. It's chock full of spoilers, and has a lot of useful info on the characters and the story, so it should clear up any questions you might have.
12. I love DnD and Magic. I havent played either in a while, though; My brother threw away my Lv.12 human wizard, which pi**ed me off, so I, of course, headbutt him. All my magic cards were stolen a couple years ago, except for some really rare ones that were in a card sheet. I'm looking to start up again on both. I haven't played 40k, but it sounds cool. The company that makes it(the name eludes me) is making a Penny Arcade card game using a universal card battle system, so you can have Gabe fight Mitsurugi(at least after the SoulCalibur card game comes out). You can find some pretty cheap AD&D books on ebay.
13. Name:Sabishii Age: 18 Height:5'9 Appearnace:He has a plain face with fierce, seemingly black eyes. His hair is jet black, long and unkempt, and hangs freely. He usually wears simple dark blue clothes. Weapon:He primarily uses bojutsu(bo staff), although he is somewhat skilled with wakazashi and kunai. Personality:He always puts up an emotional wall, is very rough most of the time, and seemingly uncaring of others feelings. He is very independant, and likes to be taken seriously. Other Info: He is always trying to become stronger, mentaly and physicaly, and has been wandering from village to village since he was 12. More often then not, he has to resort to thieving to survive, much to his chagrin. He was taught how to use a bo staff when he was 14, in return for doing several months of chores. edit: I just realised this was my first post. :animesmil Hi.
