You realize that you can support our troops but be completely against the "war", right?

I've got a solo project called Elderfrost which I will be getting a live group together for so that we can play live at the local Battle of the Bands next month. I have created a myspace for it, but there isn't any music up on it yet. It's melodic black/viking metal, and I'm pretty confident about it thus far. Expect a 3-song demo of sorts soon, featuring "Enthroned by Winter", "These Mountains Shall Be Your Grave", and "Of Trees and Trollfolk". As many of you already know, I participate in a group called Edda (www.myspace.com/vikingedda), to which I lend my vocals as well as various folk instruments. Our newer material will be moving away from metal a bit and heading more toward a Nordic folk/ambient direction.

If you have to point out that what you said was a joke, it probably isn't that great a joke, now is it? I like Bill Hicks because he is wickedly intelligent and his philosophical discussions are quite engaging. He doesn't only diss on Bush (and just so you know, that's Bush Senior he's ripping on - Bill Hicks has been dead for some time). Go listen to Bill Hicks' "Philosophy" C.D. Good stuff. And if you write Bill Hicks off completely due to the fact that he offended your conservative mentalities, that's downright rediculous. To say he isn't that great because you heard one joke that happened to be political shows that you aren't taking the time to understand any of the stuff you're listening to. And again, I never said Dane Cook was insulting or offensive, just ignorant and uninformed when it comes to Atheism.
Hey you didn't have to say it like that. You wish you were funny like Dane Cook, but sadly your not! :( (Laughs) Here is another Dane Cook show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yf29UK67uw :D
First of all, I wasn't trying to be funny. You, on the other hand, are an absolute crack-up. And secondly, I wasn't offended by his joke, just saddened by his ineptitude to understand Atheism. Sure, the Athiest in his story was rude, but it's just that - a story. Dane Cook created that story. No Atheist would ever say "we come back as trees". Anyway, I'm going to go listen to better comedy (i.e. Bill Hicks).
He is one of my favorite comics. My favorite bit was his Atheism I found it to be hilarious.
Please refer to my above post about how that joke made Dane Cook look like a completely ignorant asshat.
The only brutal metal vocalists that I respect are Lord Worm of Cryptopsy (the 30 second scream on the song Open Face Surgery is really awesome), Julien Truchan of Benighted (Can perform both Death and Black Metal growls), and Nergal of Behemoth (again, polyphonic). Everyone else sounds the same, which is the main problem about Death Metal, everything sounds the same, parts are sped up to make it sound different I prefer melodic and deep singing such as Juka of Moi Dix Mois and recently HAZUKI grace project and Yama-B of Galneryus.
You're not a Mikael Akerfeldt fan? He's got an excellent growl (death and black) full of conviction and absolutely brutal - plus the man can sing beautifully.
-
He's great at first, but I think his jokes are getting a bit repetitive. And on "Vicious Circle" he demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the ideals and beliefs of atheism, which was pretty lame and took all the humor out of that particular joke. It was very ignorant and quite annoying.
Lacuna Coil is a what I consider power metal band from Italy, Milan. Even though from Italy they do sing in english. I'm very found of there new record Karmacode.
They arent a power metal band in any sense of the term (power metal is stuff like Nocturnal Rites, Rhapsody, Angra, Galloglass, etc.). Lacuna Coil sounds like a rock band to me.

It's Metalocalypse, fyi. And I love the show for the most part. There are some great metal inside jokes and great references to bands (black metal bands in particular, i.e. "Marduk's Putt Putt Extravaganza", or the movie producer by the name of "Mr. Grishnackh"). What sucks about it is that it's being marketed at Hot Topic, meaning the mallcore crowd will pick up on it and... well, you know how that ends up. :animesigh
I've never heard of Berserker, but if anyone has heard of two-man black metal band Satyricon, there are some rediculous drums in there. One song, the title of which escapes me... it's the 9th track on Now, Diabolical, has the most insane drums I've ever heard. The snare is hit with such machine gun consistancy it's unbelievable, especially because the symbols and bass are being hit at the same time, and when it goes into the chorus there's this amazing drum-roll. Frost, the drummer, actually destroyed several drumsets with his playing during recording and it took them longer to create the CD. EDIT: The song title was Storm: The Destroyer
Eh, Now, Diabolical FTL. The Forest Is My Throne is where it's at if we're talking Satyricon. Although I haven't gotten around to listennig to Dark Midieval Times, which I hear is excellent.

I have another vote: THRYFING - THYRFING This picture was just a bit too big. Feel free to re-post with a scaled down version. - Petie

The dude is really lucky he didn't win American Idol. It's actually better to be near the top, but not at it. You see, when you win the show, you automatically get a record deal - but it's all according to American Idol contracts. If you're in the top few contestants, you're going to get offered record deals anyway, but that way it can be on your own terms.

MY TOP PICKS FOR 2006 Myrkgrav - Trollskau, Skrømt og Kølabrenning Enslaved - Ruun Eluveitie - Spirit Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side The Sword - Age of Winters MY PICK FOR BEST ALBUM OF 2006: Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain Agalloch has done it again, creating an album of unmatched beauty, atmosphere, and uniqueness. This album has made many an Agalloch fan cry foul, but I can't for the life of me figure out why! This is pure Agalloch genious through and through - from the doom-laden aura of Limbs to the epic sweeping choir in Fire Above, Ice Below to the final bell-toll of Our Fortress Is Burning II - Bloodbirds. I cannot stop listening to this monumental work of art, and I hear something new every time I listen to it. My only gripe is the final track (Our Fortress Is Burning III - The Grain), because it's just a bunch of static and feedback noise and a terrible way to end such a beautiful album. Other than that, this thing is damn near perfect. Oh, and 2007DigitalBoy - Agalloch owns the living sh1t out of Isis.

The funniest song I've ever heard is definately "Nobody Loves Me" by Limp Bizkit. Well, it's unintentionally funny, but it's hilarious nonetheless. Actually, Limp Bizkit is kind of a joke in general.
That wasn't so great. Guitar solos aren't about making as much noise in one minute as possible. Whoever came up with that idea really has to be slapped.
Try listening to the song on the actual CD ("Winter Madness" is the name of the song). It's a very melodically concious solo, but it's hard to tell from the crappy video quality.
-
Fun soloing, but it's a good thing the video cut off before the inevitably lame vocals kicked in. (C'mon, it is just another power metal band we're talking about here. [img]http://otakuboards.com/images/smilies/wink.gif[/img'])
Wintersun isn't a power metal band (listen to them before dismissing them - you might be suprised. There's no testicle-vice falsetto involved. Give it a shot). And I'll excuse the Dragonforce comment seeing as you probably don't know what was wrong with it. Anyway - yes, there will always be faster guitarists, more technical guitarists, etc etc... but you know what? Wintersun really does it for me. There is absolutely no denying that Jari has some seriously impressive chops, more so than a good portion of the metal out there. I admire his ability to play technically taxing material and still keep it full of feeling. It's a fine balance to achieve, and I think Wintersun pulls it off marvellously.

Watch this. The purpose of this video starts about 10 seconds in. Be careful not to drool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP9Jads-o8s 'Nuff said.

You should skip the whole metalcore thing and go straight for the bands they're all ripping off: At the Gates, old-school In Flames, that kind of stuff.
I know what industrial is. And I know it's not metal but Zeromancer is. Zeromancer is a norweigian metal band.It said so on myspace. That's why I brought it up and like I said i'm always looking for recomendations so I put up all the types of music I like. Sorry if it seemed confusing.
Well, MySpace also says that Slipknot is a metal band. In other words, don't trust MySpace. Zeromancer aren't metal. I'm not saying that they're not good, just that they're not metal. -
I was gonna say something man, but I thought, "No, let Jake do it. He likes to do it".
Thank you. I appreciate it. :animesmil

Im into industrial and all the other technoish and rock/Metal music(like Zeromancer). That's pretty kick *** music if you ask me, though. Always looking for recommendations, I am!! :catgirl:
Zeromancer isn't Metal, and Industrial isn't a form of Metal. But yeah, Celldweller is awesome. Check out Deadstar Assembly (I CANNOT STAND THEM, but theyre similar to that stuff I guess). -
It's basically a Alt-Metal band that sound's really awesome to me.[/COLOR']
No. They're not even remotely metal in any way, shape, or form.
