1. Can I get someone to change the name of the thread to Metal Gear Solid: Rising? In any case, I pretty much missed out on Microsofts conference just like I'll be missing out on Nintendo and Sony as well. (I have class) But from what I'm hearing, Microsoft wasn't good... "shrugs" Anyway, we have a trailer and some gameplay footage of Raiden doing his thang. I like it. Definately need more info on this though. I didn't play MGS4, but I have seen a full walkthrough of it, and I loved the gadgets and weaponry in that, and I'm hoping that some of that is in this game as well. It'll be a little disappointing to go through the game with that one and only sword. Thoughts?
 2.
*Wonders if we're going to get any hint of Tatsuki, Keigo and Mizuiro's training with Urahara this week*
Honestly, I'm hoping they received no training whatsoever. I know it'll probably be unavoidable of seeing them, but to actually have them try and do something in stopping Aizen would be pointless. Far more experienced fighters couldn't do a thing against Aizen. (I'd rather not have wasted material spent on them) So I wouldn't expect anything from them. Keigo and Mizuiro are not fighters to begin with, and I'd be highly disappointed if Kubo actually have them putting up a decent challenge against Aizen and Gin. (And Lord knows I don't want to see Don Kannoji anymore) I know in the Psyren thread I said that I was going to take a break from reading shonen, but that's kind of impossible lol. It's like the only type of manga I read. Trying to read stuff like Hellsing and Trigun is a no-no. They're meant to be watched than read. Anywho.
 3. focus mode. new quarter for classes >_

 4. Yeah, must be my computer then. But it's only been for this message board. Now instead of overlapping a post, it gives me this wide space after someone has posted... Like I said, it's nothing major. Randomness at most. It really hasn't caused any problems.
 5. An every once in a blue moon type of thing... (everyday just once a day) I don't know if other people have encountered it either, but sometimes when viewing threads I'd notice little post mergers or something where a member would post a message, and the next poster's message would overlap the previous poster's message. (Well not their message but it comes pretty close to it, but their signature would get swallowed up big time though) It's not a big deal since it goes away if I refresh the page or whatnot, and I figured it was just me having computer issues. Edit: Everytime I try to change my avatar it goes back to the same one that I'm trying to get rid of. O_o Edit2: Ohhh, so now we have to use the 2nd option for avatars... Can't use the browse from computer option...?
 6. As I've stated, I stole this thread from another forum and was browsing it today and came across these... I don't know what they're from... Well, here. Creators really have something twisted in their heads. X_X
 7.
There are also 13-year-olds who go more ballistic and become more violent when their parents take away WoW or their XBOX or something, so I don't think sports has anything to do with how violent a person is.
I got this feeling that this is related to a certain video that's on youtube.
 8. So I ended up catching the latest episode, finally. (It seems like it's been forever) Ling (or Lin? I just read it, but I can't remember the spelling for nothing), from reading the manga, I have to say I was not expecting a voice like whatsoever. I had him pegged as a more Eric Vale-ish type or someone with a more raspy voice.
Because of things to come....
Or at the very least, Maes Hughes-ish. And then there's Hawkeye... Is that really Colleen Clinkenbeard? When she was on the radio with Mustang, I could've sworn she sounded a lot like Michelle Ruff.
 9. I remember asking if the sub-forums would be anime only or would it also include the manga section as well. I don't remember James's answer, but looking at it now, I think it could go either way. Technically, there are only 3 active threads in the Manga Alley. (Bleach, Naruto and One Piece... I'm not really counting Psyren and FMA at the moment) And if you take those 3 and give it its own sub-forum I do believe that'll be the end of the Alley. Not many people post in Manga Alley to begin with, but then again who knows, if they did get a sub-forum it could bring more topics... (I can think of quite a few for each ) As for the other question... Yes and no. Give or take both of them are still currently running, but at the same time OB don't seem to be heavily into shonen as other communities.
 10. Alrighty. My list has been going under revision for quite some time now and I still don't really have one fully mapped out yet. But I'll try to get something here. Metal Gear Solid series - Took me a long time to figure out the story and whatnot, and I still need to play MGS1 and MGS4 (first game I'll be getting on the PS3 when I get it) but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with MGS2 and 3. The characters are great, and the gameplay, while it can be simplistic, I still had fun with it... Though, what I saw in MGS4, I wish some of it would've been thought up in some of the earlier releases. Seriously, I'd love to shoot people while laying on my back. Certainly would've been more helpful. Anyway, people seem to complain how much milking Kojima does with this game (yet they have no problems with Nintendo's top dog milking Mario, Metroid, and Zelda.... ), and I say if it sells continue making it. I'm a potential buyer. Devil May Cry series - I haven't played DMC2 and I hear all the negative comments it gets, but I eventually plan to get it anyway just to see for myself if I'd like it or not. (I have my moments where I can be simple/narrow-minded lol) But yeah, between this and Ninja Gaiden, I always come back these games. To be more specific, Devil May Cry 3 & 4. Sure DMC1 opened the doors, but when you are introduced to more combat skills it's kind of hard to go back to the 1st. The cutscenes really grabbed me here because of the fighting visuals. Watching Dante show off has never been disappointing. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - My favorite RPG at the moment. I'm no story person what-so-frickin-ever when it comes to RPG's since I'd get lost somewhere, but what keeps me going is the battle system. DQ8's battle system to be more precise. It's simplistic, yet fun and engaging. A game that forces you to use buffs and debuffs just makes the fights and skill points feel more rewarding. I'm also not one to talk about customizing, but with the amount of weaponry and different set of skills you can gain throughout the game, it certainly has to be mentioned. I still haven't beaten this game but if my classes this quarter allows it, I'll go back to playing it. Shenmue series - I love both 1 & 2, but I do think 1 dominates. The story of martial arts is always a fascinating story to me. (As well as samurai) There are times where I can't stand Ryo (mainly in 2), but he's a great character. I like how Yu Suzuki mixed in the Virtua Fighter characters styles into this as well. It's a shame that no one wants to kiss and make-up so we can get Shenmue 3. Get off your high-horses people. Give us fans what we want. I need a working Dreamcast so I can play Shenmue 1 again. That's it for now. Edit: Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) - Till this day I still consider this to be the best hack n slasher out there. The difficulty was just right, and the controls felt great. There was not one enemy that felt overly cheap, although I did hate fighting the tanks and helicopter. Outside of those 2 fights and the lousy camera, that don't really start getting buggy till near the end of the game, I had no issues with the game. It's a shame that none of the items carried over to a new game. I would've loved to clock some of the earlier boss fights with Cloud's sword ^_^. That's something that Ninja Gaiden 2 got right. God of War series - While I haven't played God of War 3 nor Chains of Olympus (sp?) I do enjoy the way the game plays. I wish the creators of Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry took a page from the creators here with the camera. Not being able to control the camera was an iffy thought at first, but it places you in great positions so you won't have to worry about being blind-sided or anything. (Man I can see how epic DMC and NG would be with GoW's camera) I didn't care much for its story though. I'm just no fan of greek mythology, but it do tell a good story, I will admit that. Voice acting is also great... (I had no idea Kyle Barker was voicing him) Street Fighter/ Alpha series - Street Fighter 2 was where it all began for me. My competitiveness and aggression, but I have to admit that I'm no where as competitive or aggressive anymore. If anything I just play these games (fighting games in general) casually now. Just play to have fun. But yeah, me controlling with Ryu or Ken would usually cause problems for other people. (That was back in the day though lol) I still have to play Street Fighter 4. Can't wait till I get my hands on that. Final Fantasy 8 - Gotta admit I came into this series pretty late. I think it was in 2004 where I first played this game. It was also the first game that actually got me into character development (for games) as I saw my Squall resembling myself (in terms of attitude and what I was going through around that time). This game has been brought and sold more times than any other game I've ever played. I just can't ever part ways with it without regretting it lol. I know the game get a lot of heat for its story and the junction, but you know what, whateva. I never play games for story and I enjoy the junction system.
 11. Ah, yes... Cool nights... The last time Detroit had a cool night was apparently 2-3 nights ago, but it feels like it's been forever. Saturday night felt so sticky and muggy. My room is usually the coldest in the house (got this overpowered fan and huge windows) but even my room couldn't surpass the hot-sticky air. So freakin uncomfortable. I was only able to get 3 hours of sleep. Woke up around 12:30m only to find out we were at 76 degrees... X_X.
 12. Strike Witches Thank you, Comcast. For ruining my eyesight. Give me some friggin descriptions when I'm curious about checking out something new.... (computer was crappy. had no other way of finding what this was about or the content) I can't tell you if there's a story or not since I turned it off about 5 minutes later. I'll never understand what's so appealing at little girls flying around in some sort of panties or whatever and camera is zooming on the ###. This's gotta be pedo material. X_X
 13.
This, children, is what we call a "clever marketing strategy". If you don't mind being a week behind everyone else, then you can watch Bleach (or any other ongoing anime) for free a week after its original release, but if you want to be on the cusp of new episodes (not to mention get them commercial-free), you're gonna have to fork over the dough. Considering that you only have to pay about $7 USD a month and you get access to all the anime on the site commercial-free, I say it's a great deal, but the spoiled-rotten anime/manga fanbase (as Gome/Vivian put it) whine about that, despite how catered it is to them. If I could afford a subscription to CR, I would definitely get it, but with the recession and whatnot, it's just not feasible. Perhaps once things recover here in the U.S., people will be more willing to listen.
So after that free week is up then it's back to paying? Good deal or not I'm a rather cheap person, and if I can find a place that don't cost a thing (and don't require me to wait, although I am patient ) then I'm taking it while I can.
 14. While this does affect me because I only read my manga through these sites (I guess the illegal ones) but at the same time it don't really bother me too much. It'll stop me from comparing the manga to the anime (in other words it'll stop giving me high hopes lol)
the same thing has been attempted for years with comic books and there's never really been any headway.
Must find site. I've been wanting to read comics online for a while now.
 15.
Athletic girls are the shit. The good ones know how to tough it out, suck it up and let it all out on the field. Emphasize on the "good ones"
Heh... Can't disagree with this at all. Not that I like to hit on women or anything but I'd like to have a nice little sparring/wrestling match with one. And even then I'd like a little something like Mr. and Mrs. Smith..... (I know, I'm a little crazy up there ) No telling what kind of stuff that can lead to.
 16. I'll probably watch shonen anime from time to time but for the most part I'm taking a break from reading them. I've fallen into a major slump with the shonen genre as of late. Now what could possibly cause this? Fullmetal Alchemist would be the answer to that. I enjoyed it so much to the point where I can really get anything else at the moment. Psyren (read the latest chapter) , a series I've been praising for quite some time now is not even appealing to me, granted this weeks chapter was nice but underwhelming. All the shonen series that involve some form of tourney style fighting has been in a slump since I've started (finished) reading FMA. (I can probably still read Rurouni Kenshin though since that is my favorite and I don't think anything really tops it) Anyway, I'll be putting off on reading stuff like Psyren and Bleach for the time being... (May read RK from time to time though) Anyway, with that being said, Fullmetal Alchemist - It finally came to an end. Complete 180 from the original anime. Ed and Al were definately a lot more enjoyable this time around seeing how I couldn't stand them in the original anime. Didn't have to put up with any obnoxious bratty moments from Ed nor whiny moments from Al. (Maybe a little but nothing major) Almost every single character was great here. Outside of Winry (and even she wasn't so bad. She made me want to choke her in one chapter though), the women of FMA are great. Hawkeye, Lust, Ross,
Olivia (she's a friggin Beast)
, and Izumi are some of the greatest (probably the best) female characters in all the manga/anime I've come across. Couple of moments had me raising an eyebrow here and there... I'm a church/christian guy but it didn't really hamper anything. Just an interesting take on western religion. It's been hard for me to catch Brotherhood on adult swim, but seeing how it's on demand I'll be tuning in. A lot of these fights I have to see in animation. I'll stop there before I go into favorite moments, characters, chapters, etc.. I'll be reading Trigun, Hellsing and possibly Darker than Black soon. Hopefully these'll give me that new experience I've been looking for. I'll also be reading Death Note again as well. Edit: Uhhh yeah, dismiss all of the not reading shonen bits lol. That's like impossible for me to do mainly because that's the only type of manga I read at the moment. I did give Trigun and Hellsing a shot but those are meant to be watched than read. It's like anything with gunfights just don't strike out at me unless I see it on the big screen. I think what I'm going to do to keep myself from getting worn out on these manga's is take frequent breaks or rotate between series weekly (read only 1 series per week)
 17. Err... I don't know. I've never really paid much attention to that stuff. I suppose if you follow a certain no-level up walkthrough in Final Fantasy 8 every boss is a cake walk but then again I find it more fun that way as well so "shrugs"
 18. And yet again, Psyren does not disappoint.
The minute people seemed to wonder about folks they pop up... lol
(That's more of a coincidence though)
Nova.... Um.. Wow, if Ageha's dad is not dying, I see either a training arc or someone's going to achieve that power up some time soon...
But man... Made Junas look like a joke, but I'm impressed that he's up like nothing happened. I must admit that I am feeling a little underwhelmed though. It's not Psyren's fault, it's shonen in general. I like how Psyren takes elements from different series and makes them better, but in the end it is still the same thing all over again. (The tournament style fighters that is) Truthfully, I've been feeling like this ever since I started (and finished) reading Fullmetal Alchemist. I think I'm going to take a much needed break from reading shonen for a while and look for the shorter series that don't have teens/kiddies as the main lead. Perhaps Trigun and Hellsing. Heck might even go back to Black Lagoon. I just hope none of these are too fanservice-y for me... (Seinen type stuff)
 19.
Soul Eater is still getting better by the month, if that helps.
Father's final fate is excellent. I consider it ultimate proof that Hiromu Arakawa does her research, especially considering the fact that she's a Japanese mangaka. It parallels Christian theology quite well and manages to avoid two basic mistakes that other works of fiction make all the time. 1: Most works of fiction depicting the Devil portray him as some kind of all-powerful anti-God who rules Hell with an iron fist and has an awesome time doing it. According to Christian belief, this is fundamentally wrong. Hell is supposed to be the ultimate punishment for everyone who dwells there, especially Satan himself. The Devil isn't in Hell to rule it, he's there to be punished for his hubris (incidentally, Satan is supposed to be the current form of the angel Lucifer, who was exiled from Heaven for attempting to equal God. Sound familiar?). If we think of Father as the Fullmetal Alchemist version of Satan, his end perfectly mirrors this. 2: Mostly a problem with other anime and manga series, but most mangaka/anime studios tend to not bother researching Western religion at all and just throw in words like "angel" or draw a few crosses here and there because it looks cool. Arakawa, on the other hand, actually manages to go pretty in-depth and show her work. Which is kind of funny, since her main character is a self-proclaimed atheist (at least he used to be, not sure where he stands on that after all the crazy stuff that just went down.) Either way you look at it, you have to admit that this is pretty impressive on Arakawa's part, whether or not you actually believe in any of it.
The epilogue was really nice, and it was a total bonus for me because just about every ship I boarded ended up being canon
Say what you will, Older MayxAlphonse is adorable.
Although I'm not sure about one.
It depends on whose puppies those were and whether or not Black Hayate is actually a girl. If so, DenxHayate FTW.

I don't know. For Soul Eater, the manga is too fanservice-y for my taste and it's pretty much fallen off the radar. If I were to get back into it, I'd probably go with the anime instead.
"Friend in the Flask" (Father just sound too "ugh") absorbing "God's" power did have me raising an eyebrow a couple of times (I'm a church/christian guy)
, but for the most part it was an interesting take on Arakawa's part. Begone with your fanship stuff. It's the root of all evilness.
 20. Agreed. I thoroughly enjoyed this series from beginning to end. (Not gonna lie. I skipped a chapter and skipped some flashbacks for various reasons. Had I not done that I would've stopped reading it) Who'd have thought the same Edward Elric in the original anime, who annoyed the crap out of me, would turn out to be such a great character in the end. I would've like Ed in the anime had they left his brattiness out of it. But whatever, that's old news. Outside of Psyren, I haven't read a series where I enjoyed the entire cast of characters. With Rurouni Kenshin being my #1 favorite manga, there were still a few characters in that I could've done without. Even though I stated in my earlier post how I couldn't stand Winry, I do have to admit that that was a one time deal, and ever since she hasn't done anything to annoy me at all. In the end she turned out to be a pretty desent character.
Scar with a ponytail, and looks like he's wearing a suit is shocking stuff. I am glad that Mustang got his eyesight back. Seeing my favorite character go down like that would've been an all time crappy blow. I wouldn't wish blindness on anymore.
I definately would like to see this animated. All of these fights were amazing to read, and from what I saw with the first episode of Brotherhood I think I'll get my fill of greatness since the animation in Brotherhood is no slouch (I still prefer the original in terms of animation and artwork though) But yeah, this series has been a great ride. Nothing felt draggy and nothing felt rushed. Just smooth sailing. Sad to see it end though. 108 chapters... Way better than this 300-500+ stuff. Don't need no never ending adventures to make something great. Now I gotta find a replacement.
 21. Hopefully I know what I'm doing here. (IT WORKED) Hmm... You can consider me interested. I'm not a fan of the MK series anymore (stopped being one after Trilogy) and a reboot was probably needed considering the horrible movie MK2 was. (I just don't see how you can recover from that one) But yeah, all I can really say at the moment is "interesting". Better actor for Jax this time around. And Scorpion looks familiar, but I can't figure out who that guy is. Baraka.... I know there's going to be talk about him and Reptile, but I'm actually digging Baraka... Never saw him as the Capoiera (sp?) type. (I'm pretty certain that's the fighter in The Protector... I could be wrong though) The fight between him and Johnny Cage was nice. (Wonder whose behind the choreography) Reptile might be too "cannibalistic" for me.
 22.
If you liked Avatar, you'll love Pocahontas. It's the same, but with better acting, better colours and songs.
Wha...? There's singing in Avatar? Didn't strike me that there'd be singing in that movie. Or is that sarcasm? (It's becoming a little hard for me to detect it these days)
 23. Well, some people are relieved to see that Ichigo is afraid because it show some form of "realism".... Personally, I don't care either way. But don't forget, Lawliet, Isshin was able to damage Aizen. Before his transformation and after it. But going to KT/SS before getting healed... Yeah, I don't like that. Honestly, if Isshin has time to teach they have time to get healed.... (TAKE UNOHANA ALONG WITH YOU)
