Can't believe that I didn't mention Kirk Thorton in my first post. The guy is just as epic as Crispin Freeman and Steven Blum. I think the thing that sets him apart from those 2 are that he makes characters that talk a lot sound great. Seriously speaking, the guy has a voice that seems like it's made for long explanations. I particularly enjoyed his role as Hajime Saitoh (Rurouni Kenshin) because of it. I hope that when (and if) they pick up Tales of the Abyss that they get Kirk to reprise his role because he I can't see anybody voicing Jade besides Kirk himself.
Your statements are true but come on. Think about it. Kisuke justs seems like he is fighting for his own goals. Not that those goals are honorable. He made a statement I believe in the TBTP where he promised no matter what to remove the curse of hollowfication on his closest friend. Central 46 just sucks anyway...they did fill the role of antagonists for the Soul Reaper Captains. Speaking of those captains...they could have stood up for Kisuke wen he was banished. It seemed that only Yuriochi cared what happened to Kisuke. Anyway...its just how I feel about the storyline.
I never thought Urahara had any type of set goal. Till this day I still don't. He's a man shrouded in mystery. (I'd say worry more about Mayuri than Urahara) IMO, as long as Urahara was still taking orders from the old man, it eliminated all forms of him being the "ultimate" villain or him being evil... I know, it was pulled off on Aizen, but honestly, do people really want to see a repeat of Aizen all over again? Aizen's turn was so great that it can't be duplicated/repeated otherwise it'd be stale. As far as the other captains goes... Well, we know Old man Yama wasn't going to stand up for him. He's all about law and order. I'm almost of the same opinion with Byakuya's grandfather. That only leaves Unohana, Shunsui and Ukitake, and given the situation it was not possible to stand up for Urahara. He went against orders. And while I don't like speculating (especially if it's based on what-ifs or "probably's"), Urahara was wearing a cloak that shuts off his spirit energy, so it's definately possible that they didn't even know what he was up to. Now for the new chapter. I don't really know what to make of it. I'm glad to see Youruchi, but honestly (what's with the get-up), that was the only great moment for me. I don't really care for this form Aizen's undergone, and I'm becoming a little more baffled as to why Isshin haven't released his zanpakuto. (I think Urahara will be releasing his very soon)

I'm still playing Twilight Princess. Found myself stuck in the Temple of Time. I can't seem to find this stupid boss/big key, and it's getting on my nerves. While it's not because I can't find the key, but I am becoming a little worn out with this game at the moment. I think it's about time I take a break from this game. (I miss my ps2 dangit) I don't know what I'll be playing. Don't have own anything else on the Gamecube outside of Wind Waker, and right now I don't feel like going back to play that yet. I might go steal my ps2 from brother so I can play Okami. Man I need a PS3 (I want to play MGS4).

The lack of obnoxious personalities is definately a blessing. Kyle sort of seems to be taking on taking on that role...
At least in the present
and even then he's done better than others. Speaking of Kyle, I just read chapter 117. Even
Kabuto
, a wimpy, but yet funny guy turned out to be quite the character. I'm looking forward to seeing how much he's improved. Kyle is shaping up to be the top favorite out of this hard-to-choose-from cast of characters.
While in the present he has the bratty-ness to him, but at the same time he still has some charm/adorable-ness (I don't use the word "adorable") to him. His future self, I see a lot of Spike (Cowboy Bebop) in him. Either Spike or Dante (Devil May Cry) perhaps.
I keep using Yu Yu Hakusho as a reference, mainly because it was the only other series where I've had any real attachment to its characters. Yu Yu Hakusho was the first series to get me into characterization. At the same time, it had characters I can relate to, and that holds true to this series as well. Well, not so much as seeing myself in a specific character, but the attachment is there. The only thing that's keeping this series from being #1 is the fact that it's not finished, and even then, if Psyren continues to go in the direction it's going I don't think the completion will matter at all.
I totally agree with you on the Urahara comment. It seems he's only interested in stopping Aizen at all costs. Helping Ichigo seems to be part of his plan to stop Aizen as well because why else would he help Ichigo and the soul reapers. Especially since the Soul Society cast him out like he was worth nothing.
Now mind you, them central 46 folks (I'm going to assume Aizen killed them off somewhere along the lines of TBTP) are the ones that casted him out. The captains themselves, I would think had nothing to do with it, and even then Urahara were still under Yama-ji's orders, if I recall correctly. Byakuya, Unohana, Kenpachi, and Mayuri got into Hueco Mundo through him afterall.
For me anyway the hardest part is there aren't any characters I specifically dislike, everyone has at least one cool quality to them. Grana is perhaps my favourite character because of his lazy badassness.
That's the exact same problem I'm having. I don't dislike any character. Each character brings something unique to the table and have some type of "coolness" to them. Shao seems like he's what Neji was suppose to be. Marie is like Hinata, but way better (she's not useless). Kyle just has awesome written all over him.
Especially in the future
. Ageha (Yusuke) is Ichigo done right in a sense. Yea, it's really hard for me to say who exactly is my top favorite since I like everyone almost equally. But one things for certain.
I think I'd actually cry if Matsuri actually ends up kicking the bucket :(.
She has Yoruichii written all over her, but she has more of an effect on me than Yoruichii. It's like the creator of this series took personalities from other shonen series and just improved them 100 fold.

Hand a pretty crappy day today. I put in a lot of time for this one assignment (like hours. We had to design our own magazine cover) and turns out the crap never saved on my flash stick/drive and I know I saved it. Then turn around and lost some money ($10 I was banking on that to get my food) so I had to go through most of the day with nothing to eat. (I got a late start so I had no breakfast) Then I have to design my own Eco Shelter, and the program I'm using for it was giving me the hardest time ever. It's bad enough that I suck in this program, and I'm bad with coming up with ideas, so I spent the rest of the time I had trying to flesh out some which I really didn't get anywhere until it was time to go. >_>

My list has changed quite a bit since the time I revived this thread :). Rurouni Kenshin - I still think Misao could be killed off, and it'll be even better. Kaoru on the otherhand is actually quite different from her anime counterpart. Well, not really all that different, but I think she was handled better in the manga. There were some events that were different than in the anime, and in a way it made the experience better. But I really like this series for the fights and it's characters. I don't favor all the characters though. Sanosuke being one, and as mentioned earlier, Misao being the other. Pacing is nice, and what makes it even better is that
Trust and Betrayal
is shown. Psyren - A sweet series I just got into recently. This sleeper series has some of the greatest character interaction since Yu Yu Hakusho. They mesh together greatly. The pacing is fast, like really fast. The fights don't get dragged out at all. I think the longest fight I've seen lasted about 2-5 chapters, at most. I have to read it again. Speaking of fights, most of them are handled like a fight Kurama (YYH) is in. Tactician fights are a treat to see for me. Seeing people actually use their heads in fights is always interesting. And again, the characters are just great. There is not a single character that I dislike. Samurai Deeper Kyo - Take Rurouni Kenshin and mix it with Hellsing and you got quite an amazing leading character. The character interaction is real strong in this series as well. The artwork deserves to be mentioned too because it probably is the best I've seen out of everything I've read so far. As bad a character Yuya is (I'm sick of damsels), she's just a minor setback because all the other characters are great to see, especially the
Shiseiten
gets together. Death Note - Same reasons when I first posted.

Yea, Psyren has some great pacing, which I failed to touch on for some odd reason... As far as rankings go as of right now, It'd probably look something like 1)Rurouni Kenshin, 2) Psyren, 3) Samurai Deeper Kyo, 4) Death Note, 5) Change 123 or Basilisk. I imagine that once I get back into Hunter x Hunter and possibly get back into Tenjho Tenge, the big 3 will be out the top 5 completely. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how I'd rank the characters in terms of favorites for Psyren. ....Dang, I've never had this much of a hard time trying to compile a list of favorite characters for a series.
Come on... you know a double-page spread of the crew standing dramatically at Shakky's would be made of pure awesome. Don't deny it. o3o
And the buildup for that is going to be quite something. It may even overthrow
Whitebeards entrance to the war
. I can see all the fangasms now, heck, I might even squee a bit.

Speaking of Aizen's illusion abilities, I'm under the impression that Urahara, Isshin, and Ichigo (perhaps Yoruichi) are the only ones who haven't seen his zanpakuto. To be able to get in the shots they're actually getting, and if it weren't for the hogyouku (sp?), Aizen would be seriously wounded right now. But the shots that Urahara and Isshin got in makes it look like they aren't under any hypnosis whatsoever. Oh, Urahara shot up in top favorite characters for me btw lol.

This was a ho-hum chapter. Nothing great, but nothing bad either. I suppose I am interested in B's past, but at the same time, not really.

One Manga had a release up Tuesday I believe. And yes, I agree that the mixing of filler with canon material is really annoying. I was doing a bunch of skipping. I also don't think that's enough to do Aizen in. Heck, I'm expecting some type of smug remark in the next chapter. Please Isshin, don't do what your son was doing back when the captains were fighting against Aizen. It will take away all of your credibility.

Still playing Zelda: Twilight Princess. I just beat the dungeon for Snow Peak. As I've stated once before, this Zelda is shaping up to be my favorite out of the Zelda's I've played. (I've only played the 3D Zelda's so far) Anyway, there was one puzzle that I found pretty frustrating in the dungeon for Snow Peak.
The 2nd time you go into that room with the blocks that you gotta push on to the switch in the middle of the room.
Man that was frustrating. I was about to call it quits especially when the internet wasn't working. (Truthfully, Comcast itself went out) I was about to stop playing this one for good. These puzzles are truly putting my brain to the test and it's really not a good thing with me being in school and whatnot. :)

It's funny you mention that, Gavin, seeing how I just started this series Saturday and I'm almost caught up (Took me 3 days to catch up, just about). I was told about this series some time last year, and brushed it off because I was becoming tired of shonen at the time. Edit: I've officially caught up with this series, and I have to say that this has grown to be one of my favorite series now. For those that seek death on both sides of the battlefield, you shall not be disappointed.
Although, there are quite a few revival moments so you might feel a little cheated, however, with all the traveling back and forth between present and future, and alternating events
it plays itself out, and it makes for some interesting twists. (It may feel a bit repetitive to some as well) It's not perfect by any means (but what series is?) but I'm on the verge of ranking this higher than the big 3 because of the characters alone (but that's just me). As I've stated there's not a single character in this series that I dislike. Main character all the way down to its villains. I hope this series gets animated and it's handled nicely. These fights are really good, and I'd hate to be misled like I was by Bleach when that first started out, and it took me about 130+ episodes to actually be entertained by the fights.

Definately a great chapter. Finally get to see another strategist in action. It's quite shocking to see a captain class shinigami actually chanting a whole kido spell though. (It's been such a long time) But then again, it is suppose to be more effective when the chant is said though. I'm also shocked to see a Bleach chapter get released so early. Wednesday is usually the earliest I've seen for Bleach. I wonder if they're doing this to let us know if there will be no chapter next week. (If that's true, I'd be pretty upset with these breaks)
-
Yeah, I think if you're into shonen then it's worth a shot.

Wow, talk about an early chapter. I know the spoilers came out Sunday morning, but the chapter itself came out Sunday evening. (WHAT!?) I'm used to Fairy Tail coming out on Sunday's. Anyway, I called myself trying to read the chapter, but honestly, I really can't read One Piece's backstories because I just don't care for their childhood. I like Ace and all, but I'm definately skeptical about this one here because it definately seems like it's going to be on the long side. I'm hoping it's not though.

One day while heading home, Ageha Yoshina finds a public pay phone ringing by itself. He picks it up, receiving no answer except a calling card with the word "Psyren" printed on it. After Sakurako Amamiya, a girl in Yoshina's class, disappears after mentioning "Psyren", Ageha uses the calling card in hopes of finding her. After answering a long and detailed quiz on a pay phone, he is asked if he wants to go to Psyren. The next day, he answers a ringing phone and is immediately drawn into the world of Psyren. A world which is inhabited by monsters called Tavoo. A world where players must fight to survive using the psychic powers known as PSI.
During their many trips between his world and Psyren, Ageha and his friends learn that Psyren is actually the world a decade into the future. They learn the cause of the world's destruction is a group known as W.I.S.E and a meteor known as Uroboros.
~Wikipedia~ Edit: That last little bit is pretty spoiler-ish. (I just found out about some things that I didn't know/see lol) Alrighty, it's about time we got a new series discussion going on here. Can't have Bleach, One Piece and Naruto being the only things that's talked about all the time. I'll admit right off the bat it's not as, umm.., what's the word.. hooking (if you will) as the big 3, but I do find it a lot more intriguing than the 3 that's for sure. (Perhaps it's because I'm reading something new) Like the big 3, and almost every other shonen out there, it starts off fairly slow, but at the same time the slow moments are really interesting because of everyone trying to figure out their powers in the situations they've been thrown in. I'd say everything really begins to jump off around chapter 45-46. If I had to compare this to something, I'd say it's a mixture between Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho and Persona 3 and/or 4. (Yea, that's quite the combination there) It has Bleach's dramatic moments with Yu Yu Hakusho's character interaction. Just about every character gel together almost like the characters in Yu Yu Hakusho. The thing I like about the characterization in this series, from what I've read, is that there hasn't been an annoying character yet, and at the same time there is no damsels. And even better, almost every fight is similar to one of Kurama's fights... (A friggin thought process. I love that) It has Persona's whole
traveling from one dimension to another dimension feel, although, in this it's traveling from present to future.
I would take the time to describe each character but that would take too long, and it'd be giving a lot away, but think of them like this. There is a Kurama, a Yusuke/Ichigo, a smarter Kuwabara, a better Rukia, a Byakuya/Ulquiorra, a Grimmjow... You get the idea right? And at this very moment I just finished reading chapter 66. I just found my hooking point. This is shaping up to be a favorite. Anyway, give it a read some time. I'd really like to see others opinion about the sleeping heap of potential here.

Stupid puzzles in Twilight Princess. I don't feel like killing my brain over these puzzles right now.

Decided to bring this back since I just watched the latest episode. (And the manga thread gets enough attention as is alread) Err... They had all that great stuff before this arc, and it seemed like as soon as the
Pein invasion
started, everything went downhill. The previous episode, the animation was horrible, and this latest episode the pacing was horrible. Was there really a need for recaps/flashbacks just to show "The Will of Fire" >_>. I understand that they were trying to save
Kakashi vs Pein
for the build up, but seriously, animators or whoever's behind production know good and well that they could've at least started the fight. You'd think they'd have all the pacing issues with arcs before this one, but noooo, they handle previous arcs perfect pacing and animation, but mess up on the biggest arc yet. I know I'm ranting here, but this is part of the main stuff that usually turns me away from a shonen series. (the other part is characters) Hopefully when the actual fights break out the animation team will step its game up. I know, a lot of color changing going on here. I'm trying to find a color that suits me. :)
Right now I've been marathoning on Super Street Fighter IV since I picked up the game. I like the new characters, but I still find myself picking Balrog because I know the most about him and he hasn't changed much, if at all from the first SFIV. Juri looks pretty promising right now, as does Cody and Guy. I think Hakan is pretty silly and Dudley is just not for me. Still haven't picked Makoto and Ibuki yet, so the jury's out on them :P
I'm hearing Hakan's pretty broken, although I don't ever intend on using him when I get the game. Me and big people just don't mesh well in fighting games. I hear Hakan don't have those irritating 360/720 degree motions, but still, he's a big guy, and I won't be using him. (Sagat is the only exception) Like I said in the SF4 thread, I was watching videos of the challenge mode and a lot of the new characters look very promising. Juri looks like she will be very tough to deal with. I may main her, Guy, and Cody. I'm still playing Twilight Princess. I decided to take a break and do a bit of fishing. Apparently, it seems like I'm wasting my time with lure fishing though. Thought I'd get a prize or heart piece for getting a big fish like in Ocarina of Time, phooey. Anyway, I did complete the water temple, and it never fails, the water temple is where I'm always at my weakest at. I don't know how or why they always make water boards in games so puzzly. But on the bright side this one wasn't as nearly as complicated/confusing as the water temple in Ocarina of Time, (I hardly remember the water temple in Majora's Mask. I remember swimming through a lot of tunnel/ventilation-like stuff) but I still had a pretty tough time trying to figure out where to go next. I also ended up getting
the Master Sword
. The puzzle for getting to that thing is ridiculous lol. So yeah, I'm pretty much stuck on what to do next. I've talked to Midna, but I keep getting the same message about going to Castle Town. I'm trying to avoid looking at walkthroughs (which I've already broken doing a couple of times because I got stuck in some parts) so I don't wear myself out on getting everything before I complete the game. (I want a reason to replay the game) The way this game is shaping up, though, this Zelda is becoming my favorite out of the series. (I do wish the boomerang had power though lol) Fighting while on horseback sucks lol.

Anime The state of anime in the U.S. and abroad
Magus replied to Dragonboym2's topic in Otaku Central
I agree with Sangome here and at the same time I don't really know how to respond to this. My initial reaction is "big deal". There's nothing worth breaking necks over just to see on tv anymore, nor is there anything really coming out that interest me. Honestly, all that really can be done is take down the sites that does all the streaming and whatnot, and even then that might not even be a good idea. But like I said, I really don't know how to take to this. (Almost everything I watch is re-runs lol)
