You may die however because you are in fact still a scumbag mercenary. Dying from women with magical powers might not be so bad, but then again I'd run if I ever see icicles forming at someones finger tips... If she cast stop I'm as good as dead (Wouldn't know how to counter that... Haste?) heh.
For me it's hard to decide. Possibly Final Fantasy VIII (when I see the FMV inside Balamb Garden, it looks so pristine and pleasant... I imagine it'd be fun to study in a giant flying school!)
That's a good point though. Flying in air while class is in session would be interesting, not to mention it can float on water... I don't know which one I'd actually try out first.
Dubbing. I've never seen subtitled. Don't plan to either. Maybe it's because I don't care for originals. I just want to understand what I'm looking at without having to read the bottom of the screen.
Wow.. I don't remember posting that at all, but it sounds like me nevertheless lol. I'll expand on that a bit. Yes, I'm still a dubs only guy, but I have watched a few subs just to check out what the series look like and whatnot. Reading while watching is something I hate doing. (And please don't say something like, Pause the screen or what-have-you) I just prefer to hear everything in english. Whether it's good or bad, I need to hear english, otherwise I'll feel offended (thinking I'm being cussed out) for not knowing what's being said. (Even though the words are on-screen) Another reason I stick with dubs is because I don't get any high expectations or let downs when it comes to hearing the dubbed version. People tend to get highly upset with some animes simply because the voices don't fit the original. If the voice is a good fit for the character then the hell with the original.. As rude as that may seem, but that's how I feel about it. Question though. Honorifics. Are they really that important? I've seen people get upset because -kun, -dama, -chan (those are honorifics right? lol) has been removed from a characters name. I don't really care about them, so of course they wouldn't matter to me, but don't get me wrong. I understand the use of them, I just don't see them as important as people make them out to be. Anime Let's Talk about Abridged Series
Magus replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
I'll tell you this much. I'm not into parodies at all, so you can imagine that I don't care for any of those movies that mock other movies and whatnot. I just don't find them funny. However, my sister and her boyfriend showed me the DBZ Abridged series, and I can't help but say that's some funny stuff right there. For the past couple of days, Piccolo trying to say the name of his attack has been stuck in my head.
Nappa didn't make it any better when he threw the pokeball at Chaotzu (sp?)
The things people are getting me to watch these days... -
As cheap as Sasuke's power-ups... That should be cheaper than Sasuke's power-ups. Going by that spoiler, he just wiped out 5 Pein bodies (5 Akatsuki members I suppose) with one move each... Took everyone else 4-6 chapters to kill a member of Akatsuki. (Sasuke too) Sage Mode = Hollow mask. I wouldn't go so far to say Super Saiyan just yet. SS don't have a time limit. Again, I don't even care at this point. I just want to see the real Pein and see Madara take off his mask. After that I'm done. Kishi better stall as long as he possibly can with revealing those 2. Edit: So Naruto can throw the Rasen star thingy, (I can't even remember the name of it lol) and it expands. I suppose it's a relief to get some variation and all, but I'm not impressed if that's what he's calling a new technique. (Then again, my patience has worn very thin and I'm just tired of the Rasengan. I officially hate that move now.) So Naruto's still the idiot he use to be. To use an attack like that that saps up your one advantage over Pein. I don't even see why he needed to use that move in the first place seeing how he's taking everyone else out with a simple Rasengan or a wind-punch to the face.

Yami hiding inside a wall... Hm... On second thought, I'm gonna leave that alone. I can already see these silly little pervs that get off on seeing cartoon girls/woman fan-gazing over the thought of hearing that Orihime's clothes being torn. (Anime/manga fans really know how to piss me off lol) As far as that espada ranking go, I'm not so certain that's how that would go... If it were like that then Zomari would've been the new 6 Espada when Grimmjow was removed the first time. How in the world did Lupi/Rupee even get that spot in the first place? Aizen not as smart as he thinks...?

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Magus replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
While I do have a problem with angst driven characters (there was angst in FMA?), however, it's the spoiled bratty (Ed) and whiny (Al) moments that got to me. Anyway, Ani-Monday did an update for their schedule.
Monday January 19 & 26 11PM Gundam 00 11.5PM Gundam 00 12AM-1AM Macross Plus Monday February 2 11PM Gundam 00 11.5PM Gundam 00 12AM Gudam 00 12.5AM Gundam 00 Monday February 9 11PM Gundam 00 11.5PM-1AM Appleseed Monday February 16 & 23 & March 2 & 9 11PM-1AM Anime Movie X (Feb 16) Street Fighter Alpha (Feb 23) Straight Jacket (Mar 2) Ninja Scroll (Mar 9) Monday March 16 & 23 11PM Gurren Lagann 11.5PM Gurren Lagann 12AM Rave Master 12.5AM Rave Master
Rave Master eh. I remember turning to it on Cartoon Network one day, but at the same time I also remember turning it within minutes later. Given the fact that I didn't give Gurren Lagann a fair chance last time, and I hate GAINAX character designs, I may give it another chance. I did go back and give One Piece (manga) a fair chance and turned out to like it and the character designs in that is as wacky as all out-doors, so who knows... And even though it was edited last time, and more than likely it'll be edited this time, Ninja Scroll was still good. In fact I prefer it this way.
While I don't mind it, the nudity and raping's not needed at all.
-
And I can't wait to become a Senior Member someday! How many posts are required for that anyway?
Heh, being a senior member... That's pretty obvious if you look at the old peoples profile. I think that's a little obvious that it has nothing to do with post count. But then again, I could be mistaken. Edit: Take that back.. Thought I saw a member whose been here since 01-02 but has a post count of 100-200.... As for this post count stuff... It never bothered me. Whether post counts were displayed or not, I probably would've ended up with the same result of reaching the 900+ mark (soon to be 1000) within 2 to 3 years. I don't post like everyone else. (Especially with all the fanfics and role-playing. I'm not creative with words.)
So, whatcha' gonna do for Valentine's Day?
The same thing I do every year. (holiday) Chill out. Depending on what day it's on, I may be in class. [strike]So I'll kick back and laugh at all those going through relationship problems. [/strike]
Yeah I suppose, although the main street in the game isn't terribly pretty. I mean the graphics quality is nice, but you still have all the clutter everywhere and stuff... I think the real thing would be nicer. Except, of course, that you wouldn't have the whole plot going on where you've got to fight Lan Di and stuff. Speaking of which, I never played Shenmue 2... but I guess that's a story for another thread. :catgirl:
I'm getting iffy now. Thanks James XD. Fights are settled through martial arts though, right? I take it you've been there or just well informed? Edit: Oh yeah, I'd probably be too chicken to fight Lan Di lol. And Shenmue 2 takes place in Hong Kong. Aberdeen, Wan Chai, Kowloon (I know that's real.) and Guilin.

LOL, somebody knows about the Cosby show XD. I agree though, but I wouldn't be kind about it.
Mum: You're watching this AGAIN!!! GO DO MATH Me: "No.......... go away"
I'm pretty certain Otakuboards wouldn't know about me if I were to ever respond to my mom this way. At the age of 13-14, too. Man, child abuse didn't mean a thing when I was that age, haha. Even now, I wouldn't ever say that to my folks, (siblings yes, but parents, no) and I'm 24 years old. Anyway, I could've sworn I posted here before. Or was there another thread that was similar to this one? In any case, my parents never had a problem with me watching anime back then. Sure, they didn't want to sit through 30 minutes of Dragonballz or Rurouni Kenshin, but they knew that it was nothing bad since they know what I like. Nowdays, my mom jokes about it and my dad watches most of the same series I watch, plus more.... He's watching Gundam 00, Gurren Lagann, and I think he watches Code Geass too.
Shenmue would be nice - although it was so realistic that you could almost have that same experience if you just moved to Yokosuka! Heheh.
Haha, it wouldn't be the same because it don't look as pretty as the game :catgirl:

Shenmue. The setting is peaceful, so to speak. The thought of being in a game where martial arts is the focal point (and no guns) would be really nice. Not to mention it's pretty realistic in terms of martial arts. I suppose I could try to be in a RPG, but then again, majority of them nowdays are dealing with some type of holy war.

No, no, in a highly anticipated fight like this, interference is unacceptable, for me that is. This fight's been building up since Ulquiorra's first appearance, and even though it was for a split second or 2, Ichigo and Ulquiorra seemed like they were on even grounds. (until Ichigo's little human comparison XD) This better not turn into a 2-on-1 fight. Then again, with them 2 girly-girls (forgot their names) on the way, people may actually see Orihime fighting... "shrugs" I can live without it though. I wouldn't say Ichigo has Ulquiorra figured out completely, but I would imagine that he should be able to keep up with him now. Grimmjow wasn't exactly a walk in the park when it came to speed seeing how he was able to keep up with Ulquiorra. And let's not forget that Ichigo is a martial artist. (He's stupid for not using it though.. He keeps getting pounded by kicks and punches... If anything, I wonder how he suddenly was able to use a sword?) He just couldn't keep up with Ulquiorra, (or Grimmjow and Byakuya) and he was stupid for trying to fight 2 espada back to back without healing.

Aw, no samurai, ninja or martial arts anime... (Sport's a no no in anime for me.) Honestly, none of those really caught my eye. Majority, if not all of them seemed to scream out comedy, fanservice, or some type of romance. I suppose if I had to choose one that did any type of sticking out, it was The Tower of Druaga ~the Sword of Uruk~

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Magus replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
^ Tell me about it, and I agree. They should just put the Inuyasha movies on and bury it afterwards. I don't watch it anymore since I've seen it all, (and it's on demand... >_>) but to have to keep putting up with the Inuyasha repeats (how many years has it been on AS?) is frustrating. Has any other anime on AS been repeated as much as Inuyasha? (At this point I'd rather take another repeat of Samurai Champloo or Trigun over Inuyasha again.) [strike]I think I'm getting a little worn out with FMA, especially with another season coming. Not to mention that I can't stand the main characters.[/strike] FMA being on again, is a little bit more reasonable than having Inuyasha repeat, but they're pushing that too. (You can tell I'm being bias at this point right? I haven't said anything about GitS or Cowboy Bebop reruns XD) Indeed CN and AS need some type of decent anime within that time frame. CN has taken an interesting approach with action movie thing they do every Saturday, but unfortunately, it's been mostly Naruto movies. (A mix of DC movies and Ben 10 which I don't watch at all.) And I don't really care about either Naruto or Bleach at the moment. (series for Naruto and anime for Bleach lol.) I probably should watch that Naruto Guardian movie tonight, but then again, after I saw Clash in the Snow (I think that's the name of that movie.) and became even more annoyed with Naruto.. I think I'm gonna pass. At this point CN/AS are pretty much telling people to go to Sci-Fi and IFC for anime. (Starz too, but it's hard to tell if they're going to keep going with the anime.) -
Oh, how I wish I had Marvel vs Capcom 2 from jump street. Till this day I still consider that as the best 2D fighting game, but then again, I'm bias :catgirl:. It sucks that Capcom vs Tatsunoko is a Japan only game. Sure, I don't know half of those characters, but the game in general looks too good to not bring to the states. (Needs to be on the Xbox 360 though. :animeswea) In any case, I forgot about a game that's been floating under the radar. Bayonetta caught my interest when I saw a trailer of it on X-play. (Tokyo Game Show, I think) Female version of Dante (Devil May Cry) except (obviously she's a woman) she's quite the tease... (big time) Anyway, much to my surprise, the guy that's working on this title is the same guy that did Devil May Cry 1, Viewtiful Joe 2, (I think) and Okami. While I've never played the Viewtiful Joe series, the Devil May Cry series is one of my favorites (1 started it all and got me on the bandwagon and I never played 2) and I just recently became a fan of Okami. That's an impressive record though.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Magus replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
So before I give my thoughts, I'll let you see it for yourself. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-16/adult-swim-removes-moribito-from-weekend-schedule
America's Adult Swim television network has removed the Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) adventure anime series from its schedule for this weekend. The last episode to run was episode 10 last weekend. The anime series is also missing from Adult Swim's schedule for the next three months. Instead, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and the rest of the anime programs after it have been rescheduled one half hour earlier, and a second weekly episode of Inuyasha has been added. The Moribito anime adapts Nahoko Uehashi's intricately detailed fantasy novel about a spearwoman who protects a prince from his own father and other enemies. The North American publisher Scholastic published the novel in English last June. Media Blasters picked up the distribution rights for the anime from Geneon Entertainment, and Bang Zoom! Entertainment has been dubbing the episodes since before its August television premiere. Thank you to Herbkir for the news tip.
"Sigh" Of course the obvious thing that's really getting me is the removal of Moribito. Seriously, that's the only series I was watching on Adult Swim. Now that it's gone, I have no reason to watch AS. (Cartoon Network in general now) The biggest load of garbage is putting Inuyasha on in it's place. Are you kidding me? This is what, the 20th time it's been on? Are people really watching Inuyasha over and over again? -
New chapter... Well, I hate him, but I was impressed. (A tad bit) Every time Naruto learns something new, do he really have to say "I'll show you my new move" or something of that nature? It takes away what little approval I had for him. That's 2 Pein bodies down. It's definately safe to say that Naruto's surpassed pretty much everybody.
The thought of Kakashi dying from chakra exhaustion is keeping me from getting any type of thrill from this whatsoever.

Bleach 341: The envy Continues from the last chapter, a scene cuts to the dark hallway toward the five towers, Loli and Menoli were running up the stairs ignoring the noises coming from above the tower. In fact, it?s Loli who was yelling at Menoli who was looking afraid to hurry up. Menoli says they should leave Orihime alone and earned a slap from Loli. ?You heard what Aizen sama just said. This is our chance, the only chance we have to bring that ***** down!? Said an envious Loli who has a flashback of Orihime and continues her way to the tower. A scene cuts to Ichigo and Ulquiorra. Ichigo was able to read all of Ulquiorra?s movements. Ulquiorra?s style doesn?t change despite using a sword. Once Ichigo had a chance, he grabbed Ulquiorra?s wrist and hit his chest. But it only results Ulquiorra to lose his balance and his shirt got cut showing a hollow hole and number 4 tattoo with a scratch on his chest. ?I couldn?t completely cut you. This hieiro is like steel.? Mused Ichigo but Ulquiorra ignored him. ?Anyway, I think I can read all of your movements now.? Ichigo?s words caught Ulquiorra?s attention, ?What?? ?When I first fought you I couldn?t read your movement at all. The attacks, defense, speed, reflect or even the direction, I could read none. It was like fighting with a machine or a stone.? Ichigo had flashback of when he lost to Ulquiorra then continued, ?For me to be able to read your movements is either because I am similar to the hollow or you are similar to the humans.? At that moment Ulquiorra stabbed his sword on the ground and broke it into two (the ground not the sword). ?Me?.similar to you human?? His eyes still showed no emotion contrary to his action earlier. ?Oh?just able to catch up a little must have made you feel good.? Then some sort of energy flowed from Ulquiorra and it made Ichigo froze. Ulquiorra then disappeared from from his position and appeared above Ichigo. He managed to dodge but once Ichigo touched the ground Ulquiorra appeared from behind and when he?s about to stab Ichigo a shield appeared between them and got destroyed right away. Ulquiorra stood still ignoring Ichigo who is taking this opportunity to get away. He lowered his sword and turned back to where the shield came from. Orihime stared right at Ulquiorra responding to his empty eyes with her determined ones.

You might as well say the chapter is out. There are scans with it that looks like it can cover the whole chapter, but it's 8 pages... In any case, my only gripe with this chapter is the interference of Orihime. Out of all the chances she had to interfere with the fights, she chose to do so in this one. This fight between Ichigo and Ulquiorra is equivalent to Ichigo and Byakuya. With her interfering it shows that Ichigo is weaker than Ulquiorra. (That's how I'm taking it at the moment.) The chapter still looks like it's gonna be pretty good though.

Ninja Gaiden 2 - The most difficult opponent I've fought with is the camera itself (and I dread crazy camera's), but other than that I'm having a blast. Next would be that subway fish/wom thingy. I really hate that thing, but Genshin (1st time) was the only time where I actually saw the gameover screen. I haven't been following the story, but I try not to these days because it takes quite some time for it to sink into my brain. But I've managed to reach chapter 7. (maybe 8...) I know I just beat Genshin a 2nd time and fought some giant turtle lava monster thingy. Majority of my weapons has been upgraded to level 3. I just need to upgrade my Scythe and Tonfa's. They're at level 2. My favorite weapon is probably the trusty old Dragon Sword, but then again that's because I feel safe with those the most. If I'm not counting the Dragon Sword then it would be the Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang. (them things are crazy at level 3.) I'm becoming more and more fond of the Falcon's Talon though. I seem to be able to work better with those against the soldiers than the other weapons. (The giant machine enemies are stupid...) Edit: Take that back, my favorite weapon are the Flails. I just upgraded it to level 3. With the camera being the way it is, I can't put this game in my top favorites.

Anime I need help in finding a new series to watch
Magus replied to Vigilance's topic in Otaku Central
Oh ok, these anime sound great to watch, when I have time I'll try to watch them at my own time. Another thing, I forgot what title its called, but its an anime that has some sword fighting, only skills, and he is kind of an immortal guy. This guy have scars on his face and he wear almost like a nazi sign on the back, but its suppose to be a symbol of peace or harmony. What anime title is it? Awhile ago I saw a trailer for this anime series and forgot the title.
I've never seen it, but that sounds like Blade of the Immortal. -
This is more or less a direct description of Rurouni Kenshin, so check that one out.
Not exactly, but a good choice nevertheless. Rurouni Kenshin crosses the boundary of having powers, but nothing extreme like in Bleach or Inuyasha.
(Outside of the whole God-like speed.)
A more accurate choice would be its OVA counterpart, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal. (Might want to check out Reflections as well, but that's more sad and depressing and don't really have much action in it.) Trust and Betrayal is nothing but skills. Samurai 7 might be another choice if you don't mind
humans taking down giant robots
. But like T&B, it's all skill. Peacemaker is my last suggestion. I haven't seen all of it, and it's more slice of life mixed with samurai's. From what I've seen of it, I don't recall there being any powers being used. It's been quite some time since I've last seen this, so I could be mistaken.
