1. I suppose 2008 was a solid (no pun intented) year for games. With that said though I've yet to play most of those games. (I have a lot of catching up to do.) I don't know if this year will have the impact that 2008 did for a lot of people, but for me, I don't think 2009 will be all that great. I think there were about 6-9 games that caught my interest. This year, so far, there's only 2. In any case, majority of the titles I've been waiting for has already been released. However, there are a couple of games that I'm still anticipating. Final Fantasy XIII Versus being my main target at the moment. To hear that the battle system is going to be similar to the Kingdom Hearts games has truly spiked my interest in the game. I like simple minded hack n slashers. You don't have to put a lot of thought into those type of games, lol. Street Fighter 4 is my other target. Long overdue. Ryu and Ken are ugly, but the game, in general, looks real good. Star Ocean - Last Hope, no doubt, looks good, but I need more info. Do you think this year will be as good as last year? What are some of the games that you're anticipating?
 2. I agree with Ace here. Bleach and Naruto's a given. (They can even be taken off the poll XD) I'm actually gonna go a different route and vote for Death Note seeing how FMA will also get its own forum eventually. So would the manga counterparts go into these anime sub-forums or just stay where they are? Edit: [strike]I'm actually a bit surprised to not see that Mel....something of Haruhi ...... (Sorry fans, I just can't remember that title for nothing.) seeing how it's quite popular.[/strike] Whoops. I totally missed the whole "TheOtaku" stuff. Forget you even read that. :D
 3. Nobody said anything about Urahara's bankai. However, yes, it was already stated by Urahara himself that he does have bankai. (how did Urahara even come about when nobody mentioned him?) Err... I think Death Note is the only Shonen type (Yu Yu Hakusho possibly as well.) that hasn't dragged anything out. So to say Kubo is a huge time waster is stating the obvious. Kishi's done it, and God knows Oda does it. (Punishing folks with the long flashbacks.) Shunsui vs Stark.... I'll just say I want to see the fight. We don't know what Shunsui or Stark is capable of. Future references... Please work on your grammar, D4wood. It's hard trying to read run-on sentences. (And what is tbh?)
 4. I can't believe I just looked at that. >_> ...I probably shouldn't even ask, but what is Hare Hare Yukai?
 5.
I'm also very happy when I'm at church.
Same here. I'm a church guy. I'm not really all that talkative around people in general (although I can hold my own in a conversation, if I can contribute), but being in church makes me a little more open.
 6. My list of X360 games to buy list has been shortened. Turns out that we have: Gears of War 2 (I believe we have 1 as well) Guilty Gears 2: Overture Soul Calibur 4 Ninety-Nine Nights Ninja Gaiden 2 Tales of Vesperia Infinite Undiscovery Enchanted Arms ** I haven't started playing anything as of yet, but I think for the next month or 2 (maybe 3) my time will be spent playing Ninja Gaiden 2 (of course). Last time I played it, I got a hold of the Scythe, but I like the Dragon's Claw and Tiger fang over it. I'll try out Ninety-Nine Nights. Dynasty/Samurai Warriors are pretty much guilty pleasures of mine. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of playing them. Anyway, NNN looks a lot like that game, so I want to try it out. Tales of Vesperia is a given. Despite my frustrations in a certain lead character in Tales of the Abyss, I still had a blast playing the game. I hear that the lead character in this one is way better than Luke. I haven't seen much in terms of gameplay, but I can only imagine that it's either similar or better than that of TotA. Infinite Undiscovery is something I don't know much about. I saw a trailer. Thought it looked good. Want to try it out. Enchanted Arms is one I'm a little iffy about. X-play said something about it, but I can't remember what it was. I just know it made me iffy. My ps2 is pretty much shot at the moment. (Warranty was already used) Not much I can really do about it either. (I'm not exactly savvy when it comes to taking electronics apart either.) I'm thinking about tossing it for some games... Mainly Zelda: Twilight Princess (Cube version), Dead or Alive 4, Halo 3, or Devil May Cry 4. We'll see when the time comes.
 7. That's fine. I really don't expect anyone to agree with me. I just hope no one is taking "disappointing" the wrong way. (I don't mean just as in overrated or bad... Although, that's how I made it seem ain't it? ...Damnit.. *EDITS*) Even though I find FF7 disappointing, I still enjoy playing it. The game itself just never "wow'd" me. As for the other games I've mentioned, (Except for Star Ocean.. I need the voices turned off or something.) I won't play them, but I'll watch other people play them. =) I get more enjoyment out of watching those games being played instead of playing them myself. Does that make sense?
 8. I'm for this, but how many sub forums are we talking? If it's too many won't it look a bit sloppy? Determining on what can be first... If you don't want Naruto first, you can go through the anime thread directory and see what has the 2nd most post... If you're not too lazy, that is. :catgirl: But then again, I do like Gavin's suggestion. Rotate every month or 2...
 9.
Kakuzu is S-Rank yes but Naruto didn't defeat him by himself so that victory doesn't qualify in my books. As for Sasuke's poor performance against Killerbee I suppose if one were to be very merciful the excuse that his whole fighting style has had to change due to losing his cursed seal and getting the mangekyou and he obviously didn't have enough time to master it resulting in a major ***-whuppin'. Of course I wanted Sasuke to die like everyone else so that point may be irrelevent. Naruto's advantage over fighting Sasuke really only comes if he can improve the durability of the kage bunshin to the point where it mimics and actual body in the same way Pein's copy jutsu does. If he's alone then tactics dictate he runs, but this is the same man who can become an army at will so perhaps that point is invalid as well. Maybe though Naruto will be the one to get Kakashi's eye and we might see a sharingan-off again, very unlikely but not impossible. It would actually really suck if Sasuke got Gennosuke's ability because he's definitely not cool enough to deserve it. Itachi yes, Sasuke no.
Technically, he did beat Kakuzu by himself. Yeah, he already had 2 hearts down before the fight even started... Naruto was already warn out though... Even grounds, no? But I'll give that one to ya. :) Haha... Out of everyone here, whose merciful enough to by that excuse for Sasuke? XD After "beating" (HAH) Itachi, there is no way I'll except that excuse for a poor performance. Oh... I forgot that Naruto don't know any earth style jutsu's.... But I'm pretty certain that that idiot knows how to improvise. I can't believe I'm defending this guy. If Kakashi gave Naruto his eye, "scratch head" I don't know... I'll probably just sit, pout, and dog Kishi for sinking so low. I'm still worried about the power gainage Itachi gave to Naruto as it is... Let's not put any more weird thoughts into my head. I'd be real pissed if Sasuke gained Gennosuke's ability.
 10.
Perhaps that should have been closer to "if Naruto beats Pein he'll mop the floor with Sasuke" but I still feel Naruto needs to be one S-Rank enemy by himself to prove he can handle a one-on-one fight with an extremely skilled/haxed enemy. Additionally I'm taking Sasuke's new sharingan as being a possible equaliser in the fight against Naruto's raw power which comes from the Kyuubi who is known to be weak to that doujutsu's influence. There's also the likelihood that Sasuke will be haxed again before the fight with some new or improved jutsus if the past is any indicator.
Kakuzu don't count as an S-Rank? :) Honestly, and this is looking at the fight with Killerbee. I was not impressed with Sasuke's fighting abilities during that fight. If it wasn't for the bail out (Not once, but twice) he would've definately died. And all Sasuke seemed to have going for him was Amaterasu. If that idiot has any type of common sense what-so-ever, and actually use what he learned against the Itachi impersonator, he should know how to deal with Sharingan without the use of the Kyuubi. (Keyword being "IF") Perhaps I'm giving Naruto too much credit with this sage mode. I do see Sasuke getting another form of a power up though. Or unlocking some ability with his sharingan that
forces the opponent to kill themselves.... Which would be stealing from Basilisk. Since that ability itself puts Tsukuyomi to shame.
11.
Besides Naruto needs to win this fight by himself to prove he has a chance of beating Sasuke during their inevitable showdown.
Really? I wouldn't say Naruto needs to win this fight to prove he has a chance to beat Sasuke. Even Sasuke don't stand a chance against Pein. And now that Sasuke don't have that curse anymore the tide had already shifted in Naruto's favor. (Ugh.)
 12. Heh, me posting here seems a little out of place lol. Who/What is it? Raiha/Little Death's Why is she/it nifty? Before that thread appeared, I never once bothered to venture into the Anthology section of the forum simply because I can't stand to read fan made material. (I barely like to read at all) Little Death's not only took my virginity, but it was just simply fun to read as well. While I've never talked to her before, I will admit that she's got talent. My hat's off to ya. Who is it? SaiyanPrincessX Why is she nifty? She's a walking encyclopedia for Arizona. Not only that but she is kind enough to put up with my constant requests for siggies and avvies every other week. And if I'm not mistaken, she's into the martial arts flicks just as much or more than me. She's a nice person. Who is it? Gavin Why is he nifty? Talking Bleach and Naruto with him is a lot of fun. And unlike other folks at other forums, his crackpot theories are actually worth reading. (You should check out One Piece) Who is it? Ace Why is he nifty? He's a complete nut with his little Naruto summarization's. And the Full Nelson no Jutsu comment had me going for some time. Who is it? Solo Tremaine Why is he nifty? A fellow Bleach chatter. Poking fun at his favorite characters is pretty funny.
Hitsugaya sucks
:p Nice guy.
 13. Now that I've seen all the episodes, I'll just give my thoughts on the whole thing. Storywise, I'm not sure what happened at the end. Pacifica is suppose to be the world's end and everything, but
the lady that looked like her was the one to restore everything, was she not? Was she a part of Pacifica
or something?Pacifica didn't do much of anything to show that she was suppose to be the harbinger of death. I don't really count freezing time doing much of anything. Reason I asked was because she was given a choice to choose the world's fate. Characters were pretty good, although there were a few characters that, while they were shown throughout the series, I don't know much of anything about them. Outside of them being loyal to Christopher. Speaking of Chris, he's my favorite next to Ciz/Siz. (?) That girly is something else. I normally see a lot of guys with that kind of attitude, but seeing it come from a woman is a bit refreshing. Certainly beats out the typical damsel in distress. The other characters were enjoyable as well. Although the one character that has gotten on my nerves was Leo. The whole "I will/must protect Pacifica" was just too tiring to hear. Especially when
Furet (Too bad I couldn't see more of that guy. I would've liked to see him and Shannon cross paths.)
stepped into the picture. Even though the action was short througout the series I was impressed with it.
I was really shocked to see Pacifica's brother stab her.
I kind of saw it coming but at the same time I was surprised to see it happen. She really is too forgiving lol.
 14. Apparently, there's been a lot of talk about this series as of late. Talk ranging from "awesome" to "a rip off of Bleach". BONES is behind the series, and I will admit that I have been impressed with some of their work. I've only seen Fullmetal Alchemist and Eureka 7. And while both series could do some work with their main characters, there support characters brought things to life. I'm kind of expecting the same here for some reason.
Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. Soul Eater is an anime that centers around meisters and their weapons and their mission to collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul. Upon doing that the meister's weapons will become a Deathscythe, which is the highest title for a weapon. Maka, Soul Eater, Black Star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid, and Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.
In any case, I did see episode 1, or rather snippets of episode 1. While I'm not completely sold just yet, I am impressed with the fighting and animation. That was some good stuff there. Character design could use a bit of work. I've never really been a fan of quirky lookin characters, but I managed to put up with One Piece's weird artwork for some time now, so I'll adapt to this one eventually. Also from what I've seen so far, and what that description says, it sort of has a look of one of those Shin Megami Tensei games. One more thing. FUNimation has licensed this series as well. So the dub work will be pretty decent as well. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-31/funimation-adds-soul-eater-anime-from-media-factory So anyone been watching this series? Thoughts? I don't know if I'll continue to watch it subbed, but once it hit the states, I'll continue where I left off. I didn't know BONES handled Cowboy Bebop's animation. :o
 15.
Yeah, I completely disagree with the whole Naruto surpassing them thing. I MEAN- Okay. He beat that one Pein with one little Rasengan. I'll give him that. But he hasn't summoned one frog in Shippuden so we don't know if he can summon Gamabunta on command, hasn't made up and super awesome Jutsu on-par with Rasengan, trained a shinobi to be a genius of his generation or done super cool dimensional stuff like Yondaime. Also, he hasn't sealed the Kyuubi into his own son's body .
Err.... Here's what you're missing. Kakashi struggled with one Pein. Jiraya struggled against a Pein. (but he did keep up with 3... so I'll give him credit there.) Tsunade can't do a thing against Pein. The village, no doubt is full of Jounin.. (The kiddies parents) They couldn't do a thing. And here we have Naruto with the oh so dreaded one hit kill crap that I can't stand. If that's not surpassing the higher ups then I don't know what is. But I don't really care at this point. It was bound to happen sooner or later, especially with the way Tsunade is with this "lets rely on Naruto" attitude. While the chapter itself wasn't that bad, it was still bad because of Naruto. He won't truly gain my respect until I see him constantly use his head instead of being rash and idiotic about everything.
 16. Apparently there was a Best PS2 game selection. It was just buried within the large list of categories of PS3 selections.. Best PS2 game: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 wins beating out Arcana Heart, Kingdom Hearts RE: Chains of Memories and Yakuza 2. I'm still trying to get my hands on Persona 4, and I don't know if I'm going to even bother with the Kingdom Hearts game. I don't like the idea of adding cards into a game like that. I don't know much of anything about the Yakuza games. It just looks like it's similar to the Grand Theft Auto series, and I'm not into that series.
 17. Haha, you people are my homework. That's pretty much it. Thanks a bunch.
 18. This is coming from IGN. They have a bunch of categories, so I'm only going to list the games the got for game of the year. (That consoles game of the year) Feel free to share your thoughts, your lists or whatever. Best Xbox 360 game - Fallout 3 got this, beating out Dead Space, Gears of War 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, and Prince of Persia. (The only game I've played out of this list was Gears of War 2, so I don't know much about the others.) Best Xbox Live game - Braid took this beating out Bionic Commando, Castle Crashers, Portal: Still Alive, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. (I don't even play games online so I really have no opinion on the matter.) Best Wii game - World of Goo beating out Guitar Hero World Tour, de Blob, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, Super Smash Brothers Brawl. (I only played SSBB, and even then, I don't have much of opinion here either since I don't play the Wii either.) Best PS3 game - Metal Gear Solid 4 wins. Beating out Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Little Big Planet, and Resistance 2 (Even though I've never touched the PS3, I saw that coming a mile away, though I was expecting Little Big Planet to take it, especially hearing all the talk about it.) Best PC game - Sins of the Solar Empire. Beating out Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Left 4 Dead, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. (Um, yeah, no opinion here either. Don't play PC games.) Best DS game - The World Ends With You wins beating Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, Space Invaders. (I didn't even know Ninja Gaiden came out this year. I thought it came out last year for some reason. In any case, I haven't played any of them.) Best PSP game - Patapon wins beating Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, Echochrome, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Space Invaders Extreme. (I certainly would like to have a PSP just to try out some of these games.) There you have it. If you want to see all the other categories then you can go there.... http://bestof.ign.com/2008/index.html
 19.
Why do I think Mr 3 looks decent with a mustache and beard? His hair-style still looks crazy lol.
20. Happy New Year everyone. I brought in the new year with my church. Had a blast and everything. Probably something I'll continue to do for a long time especially since it beats out sitting around doing nothing and hearing the usual gun shots.
 21. Deflection and withstanding is two entirely different things, sort of :) Thinking from a DBZ perspective, deflecting could probably be the same as withstanding lol. But in any case, I'm not going to say that the cero was point blank because it's hard to tell. If it's deflection though, then by all means I completely agree with you. However, we have Ulquiorra saying the word "withstanding". (Unless translation is screwed up?) If indeed he just took that cero head-on then that was a pretty huge leap from when he first took on Ulquiorra's cero... (With his mask on.) And that really does say we're taking elements from the Saiyans. Then again, I think Kubo is another one of those authors that got inspiration from Akira, so "shrugs"
 22.
Well I can't say I agree with a couple of your opinions, but I also haven't played a couple of the games mentioned. I do have to disagree with listing Gears of War as both games. GOW I was a sort've is it or isn't it game. There was hype, but nothing compared to GOW II. That hype in itself made the second one in the series fall short, but as far as shooters go the first was fantastic for its time. I guess that's the only beef I have with this thread, is you seem to be rating your games on playing them recentally. Of course non of them compare with how they were when they first came out, FF VII for example. But I suppose that's the whole "Opinion" thing, its lived up to your personal expectations when you played them....
Ah, now I see where that's coming from. Took a while for all of that to sink in. I think for Gears I, I may have had too much of a high expectation of the whole stop and pop gameplay (Set myself up on that one) because I thought it looked interesting and thought these FPS needed a bit of a change. Gears II was more or less the same seeing how my brother-in-law practically forced me to play and just dove right into the whole multi-player part of the game instead of letting me go through the campaign and learn anything. Overwhelming, but at the same time I did come to the point to where I just didn't care for stop n' pop. Fantastic game to watch yes indeed. But I don't think I'd call it a fantastic game in general (Good game from what I've played of it, but definately not fantastic), but as you said, and as I like to say, it's a matter of preference. Then again this is coming from someone who tends to make things more complicated than it should be. I'm one of those type folk who'll say Goldeneye007 for the N64 is the best FPS ever, and Halo is the best FPS for this generation because they're pretty simple to pick up and play. (And yet, I have not even attempted to play a Call of Duty, or a Half-Life, or another one the FPS that gets high recognition.) And I really hate innovation to some degree XD. If it's your type of game, hey, more power to ya. As far as me judging these games for recent measures.... Well, yeah. (A lot of the games I've been playing lately, I didn't get them until a year or 2 ago. Dragon Quest 8 is an 2005 release I believe, I didn't get that game until 2007.) FF7, as I said, I was introduced to the series late. (2004-2005 type late) Back in 97-99, I think I was a Street Fighter or fighting game only. RPG's were games I'd never give a second thought about playing because of the whole "turn based" combat, so I highly doubt if I were introduced to the game back when it first came out that my opinion would've been any different. Because if I wasn't going to complain about the graphics, I was certainly going to complain about the battle system. So of course I'm going to be judging these games from recent experiences. You hear the hype surrounding the games from back then (Although, FF7 is still lingering), wait 1-9 years later (Prices should be down a good notch) and then you judge ^_^.
 23. Haha. I've yet to play Soul Calibur 3, but I've heard that it was the same as SC2 and I pretty much bypassed it. Heard that the adventure mode wasn't so great and whatnot. Anyway, I forgot to mention Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Fayt made it hard to enjoy the game, and then the battle system was either too in-depth (is their a such thing?) or too confusing. (One of those two lol) While I didn't think much of it when I first started out. I did notice the confusion when I started gaining abilities. Slightly tapping the X button for one attack and then hold the button for the another attack. Linking attacks together, although, should've been easy, I don't see how tapping and hold the same button would prove to be so. Tales of the Abyss is quite similar, but at the same time it's much simpler as well.
 24. Wow, it feels like it's been more than a month since I've last made a topic. Anyway, we've got anticipations (probably should make another one), favorites, top whatever, and worst type of threads. And I was watching X-play earlier and they brought up a good idea for a topic. What are some of the games that didn't meet your expectations? (Don't really care how far you take it back.) EDIT: [strike]You know those games that have a lot of hype surrounding it, but when you got your hands on them you didn't see what everyone was raving about.[/strike] Games that never wowed you. (Sounds better right?) By the way. Let's play nice kiddies. [strike]Final Fantasy 7 - I suppose we can start this off with a bang. For it's time I suppose I can see why it was so great. The graphic's, I mean. But with me coming into the series so late, and starting off with Final Fantasy 8 and then jumping to 10 (Never finished. Not even close to the end and dropped it.) and coming back to play 7 could really do things to mess you up. The whole blocky, chibi-lookin characters just didn't sit so well with me. And I've never been one to follow storylines... I'm completely absent-minded (short attention span) when it comes to them. (I'd have to play a game atleast 4-5 times to pick up on the story.)[/strike] Super Smash Bros series - I'll admit I had fun playing it on the Nintendo 64 because I was surrounded by the random acting folks I call my brother and sister. (Any game can be made fun if you have people that laugh at what was never meant to be funny.) I've never played the GCN version because I've became sick and tired of Mario. Jump ahead to the SMBB, and well, I just could never click with it. It was decent and I guess I was looking for something dynamic because it looked kinda pretty. I think I was looking for something like Street Fighters.... DO NOT ASK. I don't know what I was thinking at the time. Soul Calibur 2 - Probably one of the biggest disappointments ever. Fighting with weapons is great and all, and I had fun with the first Soul Calibur, but SC2 just didn't cut it. It's pretty much a rehash of the 1st SC with smoother looking graphics. Kind of a weird thing to say because that can be said about the DoA series. (which I adore) But what keeps me coming back to the DoA series is the [strike]bounce[/strike] environmental fighting. It's not much but it's there. Being able to knock people through, over, and off things makes things more fun to me. Here in the SC series you gotta worry about ringouts. I hate ringouts. (guess you can see where my gripe/suckage comes in at XD) And to think I actually tried to play Soul Calibur 4.... lol Tekken 5 - Read Soul Calibur 2, but then replace all of the SC's with Tekkens. But then again, if Namco hadn't decided to change up on a few characters moveset I probably would've enjoyed Tekken 5 a lot more. I've never played Tekken 4 so I don't know the change was made beforehand or not. (JIN SUCKS IN T5) If I have to play a Tekken game these days, I'd much rather it be either Tekken 3 or Tekken Tag Tournament. [nit-pick]I understand the one-hit ko's were takin out to make things more even (Paul's punch was just sick), but what was the deal with that boss? [/nit-pick] [strike]Gears of War series - Err.. I was expecting a lot from the whole stop and pop experience type of shooting, but when I actually got my hands on it, I just didn't care for it. Running for cover was not my thing. I'm a gung-ho type. I like to run in with guns blazin. (I'd be the first to die on a real battlefield lol.) Everything else looked pretty though.[/strike] I don't think any of these games are necessarily bad (I still think FF7 is actually a good game.) or the worst games ever made, even though I bash on Mario a lot. They just turned out to be a bit disappointing. I think I'm gonna try to think of a topic for the opposite effect.... What's the opposite of disappointing?
 25. I was trying to play Dragon Quest 8, but with my ps2 on the fringe I might not be able to play anything for quite some time. My games keep freezing up even though they're practically new games, and I can't even watch movies on the thing. I've cleaned it with that air spray stuff. Anyway, I left off right at the beginning pretty much. I was heading in Kalderasha's house. (After meeting his daughter) I've had the game for a long time, but I've never bothered to finish it for some reason, and the last time I did play it I was in Ascantha, I think. I know Angelo was in my party and I was just getting use to the Alchemy Pot. In any case, it is one of my favorite games on the ps2. I'm still waiting for my copy of Persona 4 to arrive in the mail. My brother-in-law brought my sister a Xbox 360 and 9 games for christmas (just gotta wait for them to arrive), and one of those games being Ninja Gaiden 2. (YES, I get to finish what I've started) So I'm gonna be mooching off of my sister's 360 for quite some time. I'll also be trackin down Devil May Cry 4, Halo 3, and Tales of Vesperia. I suppose now my eyes are set on getting either a PSP or PS3 now. Final Fantasy: Dissidia looks too good to pass up on. I've been stalking MGS4 lately... Just lookin at clips here and there wishing I was playing it. And then FFXIII Versus has had my attention since the first trailer. Hearing that the gameplay/battle system will be similar to Kingdom Hearts is right up my alley.
